Cam Newton is your No. 1 quarterback

Hey everyone. We now have word that Cam Newton has been named Auburn's No. 1 quarterback exiting spring drills.

“After thoroughly evaluating our quarterbacks during spring practice and over the last week, Cam has emerged as our post-spring No. 1 quarterback,” coach Gene Chizik said. “Obviously, he will have a lot of work to do over the summer and during two-a-days to continue along this path. We fully expect our other quarterbacks to continue to work hard and compete with Cam during the off-season and into fall camp.”

Auburn is making Chizik and Newton available to reporters on Thursday morning. So what can we do before then?

Talk to Cam's father, Cecil, who always has interesting things to say!

CECIL NEWTON

  • On the news than Cam is the No. 1 guy: ``I don't think it's really sunk in yet. I know Cam is on Cloud Nine. Me? My son is playing for a program that's really top-shelf, he has the job. It doesn't get much better than that."

  • On how Cam has adjusted to Auburn: ``A-Day didn't go the way a lot of people expected, but I don't think it was a problem. As someone sitting in the stadium and watching him play, I'd have graded him as `moderate' or 'low' relative to what everyone was expecting. Yet (the coaches) graded him above average. He was making the right decisions out there, so it's not like he made mistakes."

  • On Cam's lack of passing opportunities in the A-Day game: ``Not sure what to say about that. Was it intentional or was that just the way it worked out? I'd say it probably was just the script. They watched him for 15 practices. They know what he can do."

  • On overall satisfaction with Auburn (over Mississippi State and Oklahoma): ``We're all really happy. I think Gus (Malzahn) is the right man for the job. Cam is in a program that can use him as he should be used ... and he can get the exposure he deserves. We have a pretty big following in Florida and Georgia. We had people hounding us about watching Cam play on TV. They all wanted to see the spring game. It's working out great. I say the same things to (Curtis) Luper. I talk to Gus sparingly. I don't want to be that father who is in the coach's ear all the time. That's not me."

  1. I guess that means I am number 2.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Come on Cam, live up to the hype!

    ReplyDelete
  3. MJT, that means you belong in a cooler.

    ReplyDelete
  4. A #1 qb in April!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  5. So I guess they still don't want to officially name him the starter?

    ReplyDelete
  6. What's the latest on Rollison? Is it official that he's going to Sam Houston? I don't recall a reference in the last couple of weeks since Chiz said something along the lines of deciding at the end of the semester.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yeah. Big statement, huh?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'd go ahead and cross Rollison off your lists.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yea for Cam!
Guess all y'all love the Soup, too. It took me a while but I think he needed to get out of DC.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh he's definitely off my list. I was just curious if anything had been made official.

    ReplyDelete
  11. So this puts Newton in the elite company of Neil Caudle as "Quarterbacks That Chiz Has Named #1 Coming Out of Spring Practice"

    ReplyDelete
  12. This really isn't news. We all know he brought in to be the starter. Unless he gets injured he will be the starting quarterback.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Anyone have news on Cothron? The guys that many believe will commit to AU soon?

    ReplyDelete
  14. CH-B says this isn't news.

Should I take it down? I mean, I'd hate to post stuff that has zero news value.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think it's news in that something that was once implicit is now explicit...sort of.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I just read he is visiting this weekend. I say he commits by Sunday. After seeing campus, talking with Barbee and then walking in that new arena he will see what we are all about.

    ReplyDelete
  17. This is definitely news. Maybe not surprising, but news none the less.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Agreed CH=B, especially when he sees all those spots for banners that we have. :).

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ok, IT gurus out there. Firefox keeps crashing on me. Any suggestions? I'm on Google Chromes now, but not a big fan.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm a big fan of pluralizing Chrome(s).

    I got Chromes.

    QBs? ...we're discussing Qbs?

Cam announced as the starter? What are we now gonna discuss all summer? What's the over/under on how many posts before SFC gets wind of this?

A couple of tidbits, but first the obligatory reference to Low's site for such:

SEC Commish Slive's commment on Kiffen: "I wish him well, I really do - as long as he's in California."

Also according to Low, Mullen @ MSU is copying the Tiger Prowl:

On Monday, Mullen embarked on a five-day, 12-stop “Road Dawgs” tour of the state and surrounding areas. Traveling on a state-of-the-art motor home, he’s speaking to Mississippi State booster groups and visiting with fans in all corners of the state from Batesville, to Kosciusko, to Biloxi.

    ReplyDelete
  22. G, I didn't mean it that way. Maybe I should have said this isn't surprising. We all knew this was coming.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Copying is the biggest form of flattery.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I believe it's imitation is the biggest form of flattery, but I get ya WEG :)

Did we expect anything less (or more for that matter)? I hope this means there are more good things to come.

    ReplyDelete
  25. What? I thought after the amount of reps given at A-Day that Trotter would be the starting QB and Davis Hooper would start at RB.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Never saw this one coming.

    ReplyDelete
  27. They'll never outlaw barnstorming to fan/alum events ... but I expect the limo-to-school business to get outlawed in short order.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Cam will smesmerize the SEC!

Perhaps PF can design a new vehicle with Cam at the controls.

CH=B, I'm still getting good vibes about Cothron.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Vincent Edward "Bo" Jackson

    ReplyDelete
  30. No limos to high school kids leaves the door WIDE open for a chopper to the school

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'M GONNA PLAY MY TUBA!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Cecil Newton? Happy as can be today.

    ReplyDelete
  33. i'm so happy.

everybody get their hands up for a 'bodda getta'! are you ready?

    ready!

    count 'em....1, 2, 3!

    ReplyDelete
  34. that's what I like to hear Jet.

G, why do you think they will outlaw limos? It's just a form of transportation and they are not letting the kids ride in it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Just added comments from Cecil Newton. Always fun.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Whatcha gonna do?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have a feeling that Cecil is very instrumental in Cam's life.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Cecil should be an honorary RoF member. He's very helpful and supportive.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Cecil doesn't want to be that father in the coach's ear all the time. Just the father in the media's ear all the time. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  40. He keeps to himself ... unless you ask.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hey, if Jay G called me, I'd do the interview too! I'd probably do it as Captain Boxhead, though.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Jay G,

If you jump the shark with an interview with Michael, I'd read it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. So judging by Cecil's comments, he's not the #1 QB out of Spring, he's the starter...period.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I just had some fried pickle spears. They weren't fresh (frozen), but dang, I really like fried pickles.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Cam,

Your daddy gave you a bad grade. Your coaches gave you a good grade What do you think about that?

That's what I want asked tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Leaving spring as the No. 1 means you have to mess up to avoid being the No. 1 heading into Arkansas State.

    Right?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hottie Ho! drive by

Nice work two threads back, Scottie B!

    Excellent Cam news, Monsieur Tate.

    Welcome miniWEG!!!

    Nothing mini about this
    WARRRRRRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I guess. But it's been a fluid situation before. I think Daniel Cobb was number one out of Spring in 2001 and Jason ended up starting.

I think it was similar the next year, excet that Cobb was still the starter out at USC, though the the QB competition was still very much alive in the Fall Camp.

Or maybe Cobb was never #1 heading out of those Spring practices.

    ReplyDelete
  49. As long as no one shows up with a surgically repaired/enhanced shoulder in August, Cam should hold onto the spot.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Daniel Cobb developed a little interception problem in the interim.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think it (the interception problem) was there all along for Cobb.

    ReplyDelete
  52. RoboKodi...coming this fall.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anonymous2:12 PM

    War Cam Eagle

    ReplyDelete
  54. Major unexpected blind sided substance. I take this as very good news. I don't care here that it's a "good problem to have". which was mentioned by a previous OC who should not be named.

For me, it didn't matter which QB they chose. I trust Malzahn to pick the right guy. I just think this gives the QB an edge in terms of leading the team in summer workouts.

Thanks for the major unexpected news, Jay. I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Okay, what is wrong with you slackers? Michael tosses up a softball and nobody hits it out of the park?

"I guess that means I am number 2."

Nobody thought to respond with: "You've always been number 2 in my book, Michael".

Come on. Get with the program.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I would also like to complement MiniWEG on his dang fine looking avatar.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Steve - I replied directly to MJT (Michael) referencing historical posts from him along those lines. Get with the program yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  58. SFC, Norm knocked the softball out of the park two posts later.

I think Mullen is in B'ham tonight, as is the Tiger Prowl.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I didn't respond because I don't think there's a funny response.

    ReplyDelete
  60. MS's coach is part of the Tiger Prowl? Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Also, SFC, miniWEG is a female. Of all the males on the HABOTN, probably only J-Z would want to be known as a mini War Eagle Girl.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Yeah, PF. They said he could ride along if he paid for the gas.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Cam announced as #1 comes as no surprise. But, is still newsworthy. Glad Papa Newton is proud and seems like a pleasure to talk to. We need to wrangle him into the HABOTN fold as a regular contributor (poster).

Luke Cothron is visiting this weekend and barring something weird, I expect him to commit/sign shortly thereafter. He's one of Rivals top 10 unsigned prospects and ranked 33 in their top 150. He would be a huge signee for Barbee and alongside Langford could make AU very competetive in the West next season.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Is miniWEG a "little person?"

    ReplyDelete
  65. Upon further review, I am concerned at the logo size on the PF endorsed Tiger Prowl vehicle.

The blue doesn't look dark enough, either.

    ReplyDelete
  66. If Cam's dad comes here, I hope he chooses CecilBDemented as his handle.

    ReplyDelete
  67. The verdict:

MJT, that means you belong in a cooler. > You've always been number 2 in my book, Michael

Reasoning: Norm's quip requires a priori knowledge of certain HABOTN lore that makes the fecal joke feel more intelligent.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Any of you techie nerds know anything about the Droid Incredible? I'm leaning towards a no due to the lack of a keyboard.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I am pretty sure Cecil already posts here. He is probably Harrison.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Jet,

The blue is wrong by about q half a shade.

The logo size has been increased to correspond with both other logo size increases and the increase in the size of Gene Chizik's head.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Hmmm, Tiger Prowl for free or Dan Mullen for $30?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Michael, any chance that you are actuall Cecil and attempting to deflect attention?

    ReplyDelete
  73. "Road Dawgs" is definitely an inferior name to "Tiger Prowl". It makes me think of a flattened carcass.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I may need to change my stock picking strategy. I lost over $500 yesterday. Maybe picking stocks based upon hidden messages in episodes of My Name Is Earl wasn't a good idea.

    ReplyDelete
  75. it's bad karma SFC. stinkin' karma!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I have a new strategy. Order pizza online and re-evaluate the strategy after that.

    ReplyDelete
  77. domino's new pizza is pretty good. there online ordering system is pretty cool too. i've done it twice now. yum.

    ReplyDelete
  78. their, not there. dang you spelling!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Dominos can say all they want about the new pizza being better, but it gives me the exact same indigestion as the old pizza. I do like the slathering of garlic butter, though.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I use to use Papa John's online ordering and occasionally Domino's. Recently I have used Pizza Hut for their $10 special, but I am going with Papa John's today.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Now, ordering a pizza from all three and just accepting the one that got here first could be an option.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I was so glad to see Cobb gone. The worst thing I ever saw him do was against Arkansas. It was a good game back and forth and he made a great play with his feet. He ran about 30-40 yards down field with no one around him. There was a receiver down field blocking. When Cobb came up on them what did he do? Run right? Run left? Nope, he decided to jump on top of both of them. He then fumbled the ball, Arkansas recovered and we went on to lose.

    ReplyDelete
  83. my wife loves the cheap Little Ceasar's pizzas but they make me feel all icky inside.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Cobb wasn't a favorite of mine.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I have a Little Ceasar's within walking distance. The price is great. The pizza, not so much. When poor I would get the hot and ready pepperoni, but I am not that desparate any more.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Little Ceasars, Pizza Hut, Dominos and especially Papa Johns - you can have all you want - they all taste like warmed up card board to me. I am spoiled on several REALLY good Mom and Pop places located around where I work that I can't eat the delivery guy's pizza anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Pizza Hut is my favorite, but Papa John's has the white pizza, so it gets some of my attention.

    ReplyDelete
  88. "Cobb wasn't a favorite of mine."

--SteveFC and the entire Auburn fan base.

He did help beat Florida in 2001, though.

    ReplyDelete
  89. There is a great pizza place in Pelham, AL that I go to when I am there. It is in a stip mall on highway 31, but I can't recall the name at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yea, Cobb was one of those almost QBs. He had his moments, but in general wasn't a great option.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Domino's Pizza...eh. But Domino's cinnastix...umm.

For those in or ever visiting the Noog, best pizza in town (in my very subjective opinion) is "Mom's Italian Villa" on Market Street around the Choo Choo. Been going there, well, forever.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Ah, it may be Patera's or something like that. My memory fades.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I good alternative to delivery is to make your own. My wife and I make "tortizzas". Get you some large tortilla shells and put what you want on them. Bake them on about 375 until the cheese melts. Really good and you can make them healthier than you can order.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Favorite DanINT Cobb memory:

Being interviewed live on ESPN after the Florida win, you would have thought he single-handledly won the game for the first two questions. Apparently two OL teammates showed up with crowbars because all of a sudden, he turned into the picture of humility giving credit to his teammates.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Scottie Beeeeeeeeeeasley rawks!

    Scottie B - you're my favorite.

    Shhhh...don't tell the others.

    How about a snort?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Look into my eyes, THT, and tell me again who's your favorite!

    SNORT.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I wonder how the WV girl is doing.

Luv is doing fine. Her employer is cracking down on internet use, hence Luv's late scarcity.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Jet - those eyes scare the poopie right out of the cooler.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Any QB who beats UF is a favorite of mine. Doesn't matter who he plays for, as long as its not bama.

I guess the techies aren't paying attention, or have we decided we've had enough of the phone conversatiosn.

    ReplyDelete
  100. HP buying Palm is huge news. The HP slate should get interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Jet...I think Cobb said something to the effect of "Great players are defined by the moment, etc."

Well, during winter workouts the next season, we in the equipment room were watching a replay of that game on ESPN Classic or something and Cobb came strolling by and saw it was coming to the end of the game. He made sure to stay with us and watch the interview of himself after the game. He was glowing with self-reverential praise.

    It was awkward.

    ReplyDelete
  102. To be fair to Cobb, though, if I had been playing QB on the team that just upset the #1 ranked team in the nation, I'd probably feel pretty good about myself as well.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Wake, I have heard that the Incredible is great, but I don't have enough first hand knowledge to know. I do know that I like the Android operating system concept and expect it to continue to be very successful.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I wasn't planning on buying myself an iPad any time soon. But just to make sure I didn't buy one, Apple put the morning after BCSCG New York Times front page on an iPad advertisement. Downright gross. Besides, who can afford an iPad when a laptop battery costs almost as much.

    ReplyDelete
  105. When I lived in the Noog, I liked Portofino on Ringgold Rd. for pizza. I remember visiting in later years after they had renovated the restaurant, and it didn't seem like it was quite as good.

    ReplyDelete
  106. MrsTHT's made from scratch pizza is awesome. Pizza Hut thin & crispy (aka cheese on a cracker) is pretty darn good.

Wake - I looked at Moto Droid keyboard a few months ago and it is not a well designed keyboard. I'm seriously considering HTC Incredible for my next phone...if I don't switch to AT&T.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I'm a Mellow mushroom fan. There is a new place in town here that started in Miami called Anthony's coal fired pizza. Its some really good stuff, if anyone is in the tampa or Miami area you should try it out.

    Maybe PF has had it.

For cheap pizza I usually go for the 5 dollar dealio at LIttle Ceasers.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I know where you're talking about, but I've never had that pizza. Generally stick with the aforementioned Mom's, Rafael's (in Ooltewah), Lupi's, and Mellow Mushroom.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I actually like the Droid keyboard. I'm going to give the incredible a try, and if I don't like it I will trade it for my Sister's droid, she is wanting the incredible.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I haven't had Godfather's Pizza since we lived in Savannah in the mid '80s. We liked it then. Anybody eaten their pizza lately?

    ReplyDelete
  111. Wifey says Godfather's is a gas station-exclusive these days.

    Sad.

    ReplyDelete
  112. i'm out for a while.

    yall be cool.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Is Godfather's even still around? We used to eat there in the Gump back in the same mid-80's time-frame.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Should have refreshed. Gas stations, huh? "Eat Here, Get Gas", right?

    ReplyDelete
  115. Re: Godfathers... Sad indeed.

Well, it's puppet hour which means it's time for me to head home. Y'all keep the puppets off the highways.

    ReplyDelete
  116. In the Gump, Tony's at the Green Lantern is choice.

Look into my eyes and know that it is true.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Just read a sound off from mobile where a bama fan spoke ill of trooper's hat being backwards, they should probably read the story about why he does this.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I liked Daniel Cobb. The worst thing I ever saw him do was to throw right at a La Tech DB, on homecoming, with the score tied late in the 4th. The DB dropped it as it bounced off his chest plate. Other than that solid QB, and he calmed down Jason Campbell.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Bama fans have their brains in backwards.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Just needed to say that MiniWEG is my 2.0 so be careful what you say!!!

    ReplyDelete
  121. One last pizza comment from me: the best pizza I had when living in Nashville was from Vinny's in Hermitage. I heard they have closed, though. 2nd best was Painturo's in Lebanon (the town, not the country).

    ReplyDelete
  122. WEG, I thought you said earlier that you hadn't met her. Were you testing us?

    ReplyDelete
  123. Joe's Italian in Pelham has great pizza, among other great dishes. I highly recommend.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I have met miniWEG and she definitely is a gal. And is a 2.0.

    ReplyDelete
  125. From earlier, I told somebody last that the only way to up the tour bus was to have a helicopter next year. Amazing how much we all think alike.

Cam. That is all. Followed by Moseley.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Chizik is talking to us tomorrow morning at 8:15.

    That's a.m.

I'll be getting up a tad earlier than usual.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Sweet dreams, Early Riser Tate.

Deadliest Catch=Awesome, watching last night's episode now.

Seinfeld=stupid people doing stupid things, least funny "comedy" I've ever seen.

    Jackass=never heard of it.

Pizza-Homemade or dress up a Costco pizza. Godfather's was awesome. There used to be a Chicago style deep dish place out on Opelika highway that was fantastic.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Seinfeld is one of the best sources for philosophical thought on TV. It is the best thing since Norm on Cheers and the only thing that has come close afterwords is My Name Is Earl.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Anonymous5:22 PM

Never made it through an episode of "earl".

    Different strokes.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Anonymous5:24 PM

I'm glad to see Chiz (or actually Gus) name a number 1. He'll be able to get the reps when Fall practice starts as well as establishing his leadership before.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Earl may be a bit more relevant to fans of another team in the state, since some of the people on the show may remind them of family.

P.S. How can you beat any show that has a day time hooker? That is ground breaking.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Godfather's Pizza - mmmmmmm! When we first got married back in 1980, I was still in school. We became friends with another couple in the same situation, husband had his first job out of college and wife was in school. We were all broke. Our entertainment was to split a large Italian sausage pizza at Godfather's for $10 and get the free coke jug refill. Then go play hours of Spades. Good times! Who knew you could have such fun for $10?

    ReplyDelete
  134. THT,
Thanks for the update on Luv. I have been worried about her.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Wake,

Anthony's has a dank pizza. The philly cheesesteak pie is anazing.

I have a pizza from a kosher place in Miami in my car right now. I almost punched the guy that sold it to me, but whatever the trouble I had to go through will definitely be worth it. They make a good pizza.

Mellow Mushroom is pretty awesome, even if it is run by a bunch of liberal tree-hugging hippies :-P
I tried to make their recipe at home. The dough came out right (spring water and molases), but the sauce I made was lousy. Think I'm going rustica with my sauce next time.

    ReplyDelete
  136. You're very welcome, Cincy.

Game 7 starting in just a couple o' minutes. I'm heading up to my office to clean up. The thought of watching the Caps crush the Habs is too unappealing.

well, ok, I'll probably watch. Watching mean hockey players (e.g. #8) is still better than not watching hockey.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Love me some spades Cincy. We started playing in high school and continued through college.

Mellow Mushroom is pretty good and so was Godfathers. We really don't eat pizza that often and we almost never eat it out.

Seinfeld was/is a great show. I didn't like it when it was on air, but have started watching reruns and its great. Some of the one liners from that show are classic. How many people have never told another "no soup for you"?

Deadliest Catch=on of the best shows on tv now.

Dahani Tackles The Globe is also a good show.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I would like to think that I am a Pizza Connoisseur and my favorites are Mom's Italian Villa in Chattanooga, Spanky's in Savannah on River Street, Mellow Mushroom and Johnny's, and any place in NY City not named Sabarro's. I will have to make it to Chicago one day and try some real deep dish. All this pizza talk makes me hungry!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Oh, as far as Godfather's, there is one about a 2 miles from my house, and it is attached to a gas station. Still make a pretty good pizza and they occasionally run a $5 per medium pizza delivered to you at the pump of your choice.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Spanky's, huh? I've eaten there hundreds of times between the three locations(mostly Brunswick Marsh Side), and have never had their Pizza. When I wanted pizza on St.Simon's, I'd go to Brogan's. Got in a rut with Spanky's and always did chicken.

Has anyone ever done Rosa's on Broad St across from Woodruff Park in Atlanta. Dang good. Beter than Felini's.

Florence Peeps, remember how good the pizza was at Stefano's?

    ReplyDelete
  141. Two things:

  144. That means I'll be late on posting comments tomorrow morning. Gotta pick one.

  145. Unless Chiz is playing Lady Ga-Ga, I think thay's an easy choice.

  146. PF- I really liked Stefano's in Florence. My wife is from there and ate there a couple times before it closed.

Felini's is another pretty good place, but I really only ended up buying slices there and slices are never as good as buying a whole pie. With that said, I'll have to keep Rosa's in mind.

Jay G- Thanks for the front page love.

  147. Lady Ga Ga has to be Ke$ha, right?

  148. On the topic of HD camera's, I'm really loving my Flip Mino HD. Pretty darn good video for the cost and fits in my pocket with ease.

  149. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned or not... but, Thomas O'Reilly has been selected as an Under Armour All-American... and is also a nominee as an Army All-American... If he chooses to play in the Under Armour game he will join 2 other AU commits on the OL at the game (Region and Dismukes are also Under Armour All-Americans).

  150. I'd say that's quality beef right there...

  151. Another fine eatery has bitten the dust, the Treasure Ship Restraunt in Panama City pretty much burned down today. Supposedly a total loss. I remember eating there when I was a kid, which by the way, should be the only acceptable reason for eating there, with kids.

  152. OT-For anyone that lives around Bonaire, GA there was an accident involving na elderly woman and a dump truck. The woman died on the scene. That was my aunt. Very sweet lady. Not posting for any reason other than for anyone that lives in that area just providing more info.

I hope they don't win again this year.

Cecil Newton seems level headed and has imparted as much of that as possible to his son.

WTC - I am sorry to hear about your loss.

    I hate the Habs!

  162. Have I ever tried a pizza I didn't like? Probably not.

My favorites, however, are Pizza Villa in Lagrange and Fellini's in Atlanta.

    ReplyDelete
  163. WTC - very sorry to see that news.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I know this won't be a popular opinion, but hockey is better when the Habs are good.

Kinda like the Yankees in baseball. Everybody cowboy movie needs a guy in a black hat.

  165. Anonymous9:32 PM

Jet - You are correct, they are the Yankees of Hockey....a ton of history!

    Still stinks though.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Condolences to wtc.

  167. I don't disagree jet. I just wish it had been the Pens instead of the Caps that were out now.

  168. 2009-10 regular season

Penguins vs Caps & Devils.... 0 wins 9 losses

    Penguins vs Flyers/Habs/Bruins 11 wins 3 losses

Conclusion: Pens have no one to blame but themselves if they can't get back to the Finals.
    Thank you, Habs!
    Thank you, Flyers!

The only East team still playing that I dislike: Flyers. Go Bruins!

    ReplyDelete
  169. Will the Capitals fail to reach the conference finals again this season?
    Yes:
    44.75 %

    No:
    55.25 %

  170. Speaking of smezmerizing, the Tim Tebow/Broncos jersey, according to a pulbish report, is already breaking sales records for a rookie.

  172. One of my Denver friends sent me a picture tonight of their Tebow/Broncos jersey.

    They're excited.

  174. I don't follow hockey... why are the Canadiens called the Habs?

NoVa T ...Carmine's Pizza had great 1" deep Chicago pizza around 1978. They were on the A-O Pkwy toward the campus from Dean Rd.

Back in the day, and way prior to the Godfather's Pizza gas pump delivery marketing strategy, we enjoyed that pizza.

Ahhhhh ...just realized that Tebow-mania will now exit from CFB.

NFL fans? ...good luck with that.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Dirty Ovechkins 1 for 33 on power play. OUCH!

Of course, LA Kings lead the playoffs, scoring on 10 of 26 power plays (38.5%). That did them a whole lot of good.

  178. PF - my new battery just finished charging. While it was charging I didn't have any weird behavior. I hope that was the problem. Fingers crossed.

  179. Jay, you might ask if there is a depth chart at QB. I wonder who is the number 2, although Caudle would seem likely for traditional reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Hoopie, over the next 3 or 4 years any QB that runs the ball will be compared with Tebow, so we aren't quite over it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  181. I predict Tebow will be the Jean shorts crowd's version of the bahr. They will never stop wearing their hideous shade of blue jersey's with a number 15 on them. For Me and PF, having Tebow stuffed down our throat will not end until we exit the state.

    ReplyDelete
  182. I'll be praying for you and your family WTC.

  183. I didn't realize it was after midnight. I also didn't realize that Rambo killed more Russians & Viet Cong than Josey Wales killed yanks.
