Practice report, 4/3

Hey everyone. Practice has ended. Here's what we learned:

  • DT Mike Blanc said his father, who lives in Haiti, wasn't able to communicate with his family here in the states for a good while after the earthquake there on Jan. 12. Mike said it was chaos down there. His father is fine now, though, living with an aunt and aiming to make a jump to Bahamas. Port-au-Prince, the Haitian capital, is basically toast. The Blancs have family in Bahamas, so that may become their new place.

  • Mike Blanc was born in south Florida and his mother lives there now.

  • We received differing reports on S Mike McNeil's health today. Coach Gene Chizik said, of course, that McNeil is basically 100 percent. Assistant coach Tommy Thigpen said McNeil often performs well during the first half of practices, but begins limping during the second half. It's apparent to me that McNeil remains a work in progress physically.

  • McNeil suffered a compound fracture of his left leg almost exactly one year ago. Coaches are hopeful he will re-emerge as a starter in time for the 2010 season.

  • Thigpen seemed higher on fellow S Aairon Savage, whom he praised for showing a "burst" of acceleration that hadn't been there before. Savage is attempting a comeback after losing two seasons to torn knee ligaments.

  • Emory Blake said it's important for him to finish the spring as the No. 3 receiver -- or in an even bigger role. ``You want the coaches to be thinking about you."

  • Auburn will scrimmage on Saturday. Chizik is bringing in officials to create authenticity.

  • WR Darvin Adams didn't have much to say. He's looking to build on what was a strong 2009, though he wasn't named to the All-SEC team. Adams said the snub doesn't bother him anymore.

  1. I posted this on FB today?

So does Guam have a big anchor holding it in place in the ocean? If everyone runs in the same direction, will the island start spinning?

  2. Jayg-gotta be tough to hang around practice, not get to see anything and then try to glean from interviews stuff that went on.

Thanks for the effort in reporting whatever you can find over there. Keep up the good work.

  3. It's certainly not an ideal situation for reporting ... but you gotta work with what you've got!

  4. JayGT - Awesome substance!!! Thanks so much. You've even got Tubs checking in on your reports!

  5. I have no idea who this is, but it humors me to think who it could be:

  6. I like Emory Blake's desire.

    Any QB news today?

I hope McNeil is ok. And I really hope Savage can stay healthy. He really deserves an injury-free season.

    ReplyDelete
  7. The McNeil thing is troubling. He was a high profile recruit and somehow it seems he is still having issues.

I have been encouraged by Washington moving to corner and Bates to linebacker, but if Etheridge or McNeil isn't able to play, we could see someone moving back. Hopefully Savage is good to go.

  8. somehow having issues?

  12. DA should be pissed. i am! #89 got snubbed! it's an outrage!

love me some Kennesaw, Jawga. keep it up DA.

  22. OL Spencer Region, OL Reese Dismukes, OL Thomas O'Reilly, linebacker Kris Frost and quarterback C.J. Uzomah and linebacker Brandon McGowan.

These players are confirmed to be on campus. Good list. I expect Dismukes to commit very soon. The fact that he was here last week, then visited the walmartians and is now back says something.

    ReplyDelete
  23. When the author of an article goes by "The Mayor," I cannot take it seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I thought I saw Spencer Region earlier! I had no idea it was a recruiting day.

I saw him roll by while I was talking to an assistant coach.

    ReplyDelete
  25. What if it was Mayor McCheese and the article was about cheese

    ReplyDelete
  26. What kind of cheese?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Did you see any of the others with Region?

    ReplyDelete
  28. The rubbery kind of fast food burgers

    ReplyDelete
  29. No thanks I'm full.

    ReplyDelete
  30. By "roll by", I hope you mean in a vehicle.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anyone know how Harry Adams ran today? I had no idea he was still at Auburn, much less on an athletic scholarship. How did this info get by me.

  36. I got some pancakes here for you.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Matzoh is wearing out it's welcome. I want a pancake!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I thought Harry Adams was gone, too. What have you heard, PF?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Harry Adams is on the track team.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am glad I don't stay up late enough to watch late night TV. Never have never will.
Good reporting on a tough assignment. I Always enjoy.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hmmm, interesting. I think Jay had mentioned Harry Adams was the fast guy on the football team at one point, so I guess that makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I have been seeing where Jalen Steele wants a release from his commitment to the basketball team. Is this one of the changes that Jay G saw coming? The kid seems to have gotten a lot of attention from other schools. Could he be on Barbee doesn't want?

    ReplyDelete
  43. OK. Correction. I didn't see Region, I saw Dismukes. I get them confused.

Also talked with C.J. Uzomah, the quarterback from suburban Atlanta. He's quite charismatic and BIG. His body reminds me of Cam Newton. I guess that's where Auburn is headed.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm not sure what to tell you about Jalen Steele. I called a few people to look into that, why a really good player like Steele would be so turned off by Tony Barbee. I haven't gotten any real answers.

His coach left open the possibility of "returning" to Auburn, which added even more complexity. I don't understand just yet.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'll wait to hear it from you, Authority Tate. It ain't fact til it's on HABOTN. Unless, of course, it's reported by The Mayor or some other duly elected official ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  46. I looked for you while I was there, Jay. Saw PMarsh, Charles Goldberg, Bryan Matthews, and Jeff Lee. But no Jay.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Is this not one of the most amazing (and useless) talents you've ever seen?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I just hope Cam has the same accuracy.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yeah, SteveFC. I was talking about him being on the track team and not being gone from Auburn. I had assumed he was playing football elsewhere, I guess, and had left Auburn entirely.

    ReplyDelete
  50. That's weird, wells, because I didn't see Jeffrey Lee or Charles out there.

I was hanging with PMarsh, Bryan and Jason Caldwell. I didn't stay for the duration; I just happened to see the quarterback.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I like Dark Side of the Moon, but that was painful.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think J Lee and Charles came later on. Everyone was gone, I think, by the time I left around an hour ago.

    ReplyDelete
  53. first tick on me. I really don't care at all for spring/summer. I like honeybees and butterflies, but most bugs are a nuisance.

    ReplyDelete
  54. See Dismukes is a big deal. From what I have read, he is going to commit somewhere within the next couple of weeks.

I don't know how good he is, but with a name like Dismukes, I get a positive vibe. It has mispronunciation written all over it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Leadoff triple and sacrifice fly have us up 1-0 at the middle of the 2nd. Already hit into a double play in the first, and just got caught stealing to end the top of 2.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Steve, the internet is all about spreading rumors, so here I go. Barbee is supposed to be bringing in a big time transfer guard from Texas. Announcement pending finalization. Steele may have been coming to Auburn as THE MAN at guard and he may not see that anymore. He hasn't ruled out coming to Auburn and wants to talk to Barbee. Or so goes the rumor.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Thanks asta. That would certainly make sense. I can't see the kid upset that Barbee would be his coach, rather than Lebo.

    ReplyDelete
  58. astatguy - as long as you're spreading rumors, by "transfer guy" do you mean from JUCO or someone (e.g. from UTEP or other college) who will have to sit out a year?

    ReplyDelete
  59. "Now, we're not ones to go 'round spreadin' rumors,
Why, really we're just not the gossipy kind,
No, you'll never hear one of us repeating gossip,
So you'd better be sure and listen close the first time!"

    ReplyDelete
  60. I wonder how many idiots like me will be at the Apple store in the morning?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Dan Gamache out of the lineup, and Auburn still committing errors. 2 errors on one sac bunt scores 3. Holy Mistakes, Batman.

    ReplyDelete
  62. THT, University of Texas...there's supposedly the possibility of a waiver in there so he can play immediately. Jay G mentioned the kids name the other day (didn't say why he mentioned his name, he just said the guy's name at random and moved on).

    ReplyDelete
  63. ...and Corey Luckie is gone in the third inning two weeks in a row. 2 1/3 innings, 3 ER(pending possibly more, HB, BB, 8 hits... Will John Luke Jacobs be the Friday starter next week?

Any reason why the Sunday starters weren't named? Dayton has that spot nailed down, I don't know why they wouldn't announce it.

    ReplyDelete
  64. ...and JLJ walks the first batter, loading the bases with one out. Not a good situation when the inning should have been over before any runs scored.

Bad Guys 4 AU 1 bottom of 3rd.

    ReplyDelete
  65. All I can say after that inning... yikes.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Thanks for the basketball answer, PF. Try and cheer up the baseball news a little, please.

    ReplyDelete
  67. K, then another hit batsman puts another run it. 3-1 ends the inning. Bama scored 5 freakin runs, all started by errors. Geez.

    ReplyDelete
  68. FSJ - few have fallen to your level of idiocy.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I may be an idiot, but I'm certainly not like you, FSJ. I may venture to Home Depot in the morning, but not to the Apple Store.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'm not real big on rumors.

If you're talking about Varez Ward, the former Jeff Davis star who started at Texas early last season, then OK. No need to be evasive.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I love the Apple store. I don't love waiting in line to pay $500 for an overhyped device that requires purchasing special adapters for everything you want to connect to it, doesn't support flash, and will not allow you to run more than one application at a time...especially when said device will most likely drop in price and add those features in version 2, which will be released a year from now.

On an unrelated note, I hate Bama.

So, yes, FSJ, you are an imbicile.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm with Peter here.

At this time, I have zero interest in an iPad. Not at this price. Not at this technology level.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Ward is a big-time talent with a big-time tear in his ACL.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hellooo Kennesaw, GA!!! GO DARVIN!

    ReplyDelete
  75. And FSJ is a big time loser.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Sir Tate - thanks for clearing that up for me. I must have missed it last week when I was out of touch with reality.

    ReplyDelete
  77. But perhaps not quite as much of a loser as this triad of young stinky losers who've just bought their way into the Delta Sky Club and decided to sit near me. It was quiet and not so stinky before they showed up. They'll probably be drunk too in short order. Guess I'll venture out to the terminal and get some fine airport food.

At least the young stinky losers are sports fans.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Anyone getting the baseball game that can give an update. Gametracker has been stuck on the 4th quarter for quite awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Nevermind, 8-2, the bad guys. Think I will just wait for tomorrow's game.

    ReplyDelete
  80. That's the problem with California and Florida. Hippies!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I just heard there was some kid from Texas and didn't know about Ward. I shouldn't be held accountable for the quality of my rumors. Rumors by definition are of extremely low quality.

A top talent with a torn ACL could probably have started for our team last year if he was good with crutches.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Another solo HR. Another ho-hum half inning. AU-3 Dummies-8, seventh inning stretch!.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Remember when a bunch of writers quoted each other as sources to corroborate the rumor of Tubby Smith to Auburn? Yeah, that was funny.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Who ever Barbee gets will surely be better than what we have had the past several years.

    ReplyDelete
  85. And THAT is why we are last in the SEC in fielding. Come on now boys. I look to Paws to chew them out this evening.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Sweet. A popup to shallow left-center with two outs took the game from "out of reach" to " no effing way". Center feilder, left fielder, and short stop were all in position to make the play to end the inning. None did.

    ReplyDelete
  87. For those without the updates, it is now Orange and Blue - 3 Inbreds - 10. Bottom 7, First and Second, 2 Out, 3-1.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Paws should've walked out on the field, tapped each guy on the shoulder, sat them down, and sent walk-ons into the game. Game is done, and it would've sent an immediate message to the players to shape the heck up.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I really don't like the one announcer who is a former uat player. His bias at the beginning was extremely unprofessional.

Grounder, 4-3, end of the 7th.

    ReplyDelete
  90. This team will not be hosting a regional.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Interesting idea, PF. Maybe the ones who have been sub-par, yes, but some of the guys tonight have put their share into tonight's effort. Bama's starter was throwing really well.

    ReplyDelete
  92. As long as we are talking rumors, I had heard the kid that wants out today may not qualify for AU.

The JUCO kid PG that wants out did not pass a math class and would have to make it up this summer. he says he didn't want the pressure to have to pass the class because if he didn't he would not make it to Au. Other schools are not demanding him pass the class, according to him.

    ReplyDelete
  93. wtc, I saw that on Rivals, I think.

Example of putting it in, Tony Caldwell's pushing it out and getting the man on. Hopefully Fletch can do something with 2 on.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Caldwell is the best player on the team so far this year, imho.

    ReplyDelete
  95. wells-Maybe that is where the person I spoke to got it from.

    ReplyDelete
  96. That dude with all of the ridiculous Bama tattoos gets fatter every time I see him.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I just did something I never do. I sent a message to a seller on ebay that had a "University of Auburn" Glomerata for sale. Told him he might have better luck selling if he got the name right. For some reason that just pushed my buttons tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Wells, guy is very much announcing as a homer.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Caldwell has one of the biggest hustle attitudes on our team. I like that.

Yeah wtc, I don't pay for it, but I have friends that keep me up on what Jeff Lee is saying.

Hopefully we can eliminate those 3 glaring errors on that line tomorrow afternoon. We need to take 2 from the tahders.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Ballgame.

    Good Guys-5 Bad Guys-5X2

    Scoreboard:
    AU 5 10 3
    UA 10 15 0

    Boooooo!

    ReplyDelete
  101. And the Braves lost. I know it is just spring baseball, but I hate to lose.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Seems like a pretty good night to me.. :-P

    ReplyDelete
  103. Shouldn't you be camping out for a crappy iPhone-lite XL?

    ReplyDelete
  104. how can it be a pretty good night when your face is all separated?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Currently Playing: Street Fighting Man - Rolling Stones.

I feel the need. To rage.

    ReplyDelete
  106. LOL PF...

I'm not that crazy...I'll get up early and drive to Birmingham.

I do understand the criticism of the device though.

With that said, I think it is going to revolutionize the way people enjoy content such as newspapers, magazines, and such.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Going to Huntsville tomorrow to look at apartment complexes with my son. We are looking at:

    Arch Street Apartment Homes
    Colonial Grand at Edgewater
    The Lexingtons at Madison
    Springs at Madison
    Highland Pointe
    The Grand Reserve

Anyone know anything about any of these complexes? We chose these based solely on what we saw online.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Cincy, did he get the job?

    ReplyDelete
  109. If he takes up at the Lexington, he is likely to get into a fight with Eric Smith.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Also, did you check craigslist? There might be a house for rent by owner in his price range. House > Apartment.

    ReplyDelete
  111. FSJ - How's Steve Jobs and his new toy gonna revolutionize how Norm reads a newspaper? I haven't bought a newspaper to read in years (I have bought the occasional M.A. for Homer's sake and just left it somewhere). I'm not jumping on the Apple bandwagon just for this thingamajig.

    ReplyDelete
  112. PF,
All he has been told is that they are offering him a job. Waiting on HR checks, background, credit, etc. They told him he should have formal offer within two weeks (from last Friday). So, we are thinking positively and going for a look.

He thought about a house, but doesn't really want to deal with upkeep of yard and such. Plan is to rent for a couple of years and then buy a house. But, you know how the plans of the young change!

    ReplyDelete
  113. i have a credit report question. Son has credit card that he has had for 5 years, always paid on time, etc. He has one thing that has been turned over to collections that he is disputing. It is a $532 charge from Bellsouth for internet at an office he had in Auburn that was never connected. After they moved into the office they went with some kind of wifi and didn't need the Bellsouth service. He called and cancelled it before it was ever hooked up. Never got a bill, etc. 2 years later he gets this bill for $582. He talked to everyone at Bellsouth with no luck. It has been turned over to collection company. Lawyer in Auburn wrote letter to agency disputing charges. Lawyer told him not to pay it.

Question is, how badly will this screw up his credit? The credit card and this are his only activity on credit report.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Both of those figures should have read $582.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Norm,

Like you I have not read an "actual" newspaper in years. However, I can see the iPad becoming the "digital entertainment/content" hub of the household. For instance you no longer have to boot up the PC to read the newspaper. Heck you don't even have to get out of bed. Reach over, grab your iPad, read the WSJ, New York Times, Montgomery Advertiser, and check your email all without ever getting out of bed. Battery life is supposed to be more than double that of your typical laptop. Portability is better too...even when considering netbooks.

Additionally, I think you'll look back to this moment as the time in which computer operating systems such as OS X, Windows, etc started moving to an easier OS for the masses. Really this probably began with the iPhone but you'll see it really start to move forward now. Google will come out with their version with a iteration of Android, and then you'll have several options. There are several versions in the works that will run windows.

Of course I could be wrong about all this..I have been before.

    ReplyDelete
  116. FSJ,
I want one, but I think I am going to hold out for the next model which will hopefully support flash and have at least one USB port. I am trying very hard to not be impatient. Wondering about the iphone that will be Verizon compatible. Do you think that will really happen?

    ReplyDelete
  117. That's a long post about newspapers. Instead of reading it, I'll just assume it says that the iPad auto-posts newspaper articles directly to my brain.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Verizon will get an iPhone. That much I am sure of. I bet we know "when" in June when Real Steve Jobs announces the next version. I suspect the Verizon edition will be out around football season.

If the next version has half the rumored specs it will be one nice device.

Getting one on Verizon will help everybody, even AT&T customers because the iPhone is so data intensive it will spread the strain to another carrier besides just AT&T.

I've tried several phones recently because I have phone loyalty issues.....The Droid, Palm Pre, Blackberry Tour, etc on Verizon...I keep coming back to the iPhone though.

I will say the new HTC device on Sprint that is 4G looks nice.

    ReplyDelete
  119. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Whoa, whoa, whoa.

"Really this probably began with the iPhone."

C'mon, man. You know better than that. The iPhone just took that concept, packaged it in something that would be accepted by the hipsters, and marketed the hell out of it.

    ReplyDelete
  121. PF...

Don't make me get Steve over here to agree with you.

    ReplyDelete
  122. PF, Can't you give me any information on my question?

    ReplyDelete
  123. Please PF...

Name one smartphone that was out at the time that the original iPhone was released that was as EASY to use? Name one.

I had them all, The Treo, Blackberrys, and the various Windows Mobile phones. They were much more difficult to use.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I would like to come up with one cool idea, then turn it into a phone version, then make a bigger one, and suddenly everyone in the world will "realize" all my products are good.

Then I will be a trillionaire.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Cincy,

I thought about it, and the best I could come up with is to do a credit check and see how it affects his score. That's what I'd do, but I'm not really versed in credit. What little I think I understand (and this may be entirely wrong) is that something in collections isn't the same as a late payment on credit account, so when this is resolved, it should disappear.

I'd also obey the attorney and see how it played out.

Sorry for not responding, but my lack of knowledge and understanding of credit (which is terrible, I should really take the time to figure it out) makes anything I say just a guess based on assumptions.

    ReplyDelete
  126. FSJ,

I'm not saying they didn't improve upon it, but it wasn't an original idea that started with the iPhone. You can trace the evolution way, way back before Apple entered the handheld electronics dept.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Thanks, PF. That is along the same lines I was thinking, but we haven't ever had anything negative on our credit report, so I wasn't sure how to advise him. Hopefully with his salary it will not affect his ability to obtain an apartment. After he gets settled he can start working on increasing his credit.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Y'all have fun tracing the history of handheld electronic :). I am going to break down and turn on my air conditioner and turn in for the night. Sweet dreams everyone!

  129. Sad news

Notre Dame recruit, standout lineman Matt James, dies in spring break fall from third-floor balcony - NBCSports http://bit.ly/b1RHi1

    ReplyDelete
  130. Dang, that's the second balcony fall death in PCB in the last week. A kid from Georgia was involved in the earlier one.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Wow, I didn't hear about the other one. How terribly sad.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Thanks, PF. That articles lists other falls from balconies. I didn't know that was such an issue. It looks like they would possibly raise the railings on balconies, particularly ones higher than the second floor.

It also mentions someone surviving a fall from a third floor balcony, which I can see. It would depend upon how you landed. Apparently the ND players wasn't so lucky.

Deaths of young people always bother me more than the death of the elderly, and especially when it is preventable.

We had a girl that had been on my daughter's softball team get killed in a car accident on the way home from school about 6 years ago. She wasn't driving. Her brother was. He survived. This was a country school and it was less than 10 miles on back country roads to her house from the school.

Every year we see kids get killed this time of year. It is sad. Hopefully cases like this are something other kids will learn from.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I remember someone reporting when Jake Brown had that massive fall on the big air ramp (skateboarding) at the X Games a couple of years ago that a 3 story fall has a 50% fatality rate.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Its just sad that people aren't able to take care of themselves a little better. We've all been there where we probably had too much to drink, but I still try to maintain my where abouts.

I feel so sad about the deaths of my generation who either didn't know any better or just made one bad decision. I'm thankful for each day the Lord gives me.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Here's what I've learned when I just came back to review:
    - Steve Jobs and Apple invented everything since 1993. Everyone else can suck it.
    - SteveFC hates old people.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Norm,

Have you ever considered a career in Cliff's Notes?

  137. apple invented 1993 and every subsequent year since. steve jobs obviously has total control over all of our minds. i got my wife an iphone the other week and she has learned how to do more with it already than she could with her dingleberry for three years. he could connect a dog turd to the internet and america will buy it.

i bet steve jobs hates old people too because they generally don't buy his wonderful electronic devices.

  138. wells, it isn't just your generation, although I do think I have seen in gradually get worse during my lifetime.

When I was in highschool a brother of a friend of mine died because he was riding in a camper and leaned up against the door. The door came open and he fell and banged his head on the concrete.

It is part of being young. Young people don't realize how fragile life is. Actually, during the last 5 years I have learned quite a bit myself.

  139. didn't jgt post somewhere that it is obvious to him that AU is fielding a shoe-in national championship football team for 2010? i think he said he would be surprised if anyone stayed within 30 of the gus bus with cam at the wheel...

    ReplyDelete
  140. I dunno. Has it really gotten worse? I think it seems that way because of the way information comes to us now, but I have my doubts if the reality is such. My parents' high school and college classes had a much higher mortality rate than mine. Granted, I have no idea if that is typical or not.

  141. Well, I guess it's too late to say good morning to FSJ, unless of course he's checking in on HABOTN via his iPhone while he waits in the iLine for an iPad.

So good morning to all the other Hotties!

Rise and shine! We're burning daylight!

The 1993 statement is incorrect. Apple has invented everything since 1984 when the Mac revolutionized personal computers ( I know it wasn't the first GUI, but it was the first that found acceptance).

I asked IT yesterday about any issues with getting an iPad on the network. I want to test one around the lab, primarily to access a web based database that is central to my work. If this pans out, I see it taking us much closer to being able to have a true electronic lab notebook.

Cincy, I believe your son needs to contact all three credit reporting services and notify them that the charge is in dispute. I don't think they can count it in the score while it is investigated. He can also put an explanation in his file that should show up in reports.

If it does show in the report, a letter to the apartment explaining that it is a disputed charge should get get him in anyway, especially if it is the only flaw.

I'm not an money person, I've just read a good bit on this stuff.

  157. Morning to all the HOTTIES!

It is raining yellow stuff over here in east Georgia. Pollen is absolutely terrible. There will be a lot of sneezers in Augusta this week!

HAVING to work on Saturday is the pits.........

    ReplyDelete
  158. HAHAHA. You're right, PF.

Sorry for your woes, missinit. MrsTHT is at work all weekend. Although I'd certainly rather her be home, I must confess that I don't miss the yard work she'd have me doing right now.

GOOGLE MAPS- anybody tried the new 3D streetviews? I guess I've got to go find some 3D glasses to make that useful. Or not. But I do like the new drag & zoom feature, and their new AERIAL view is a little nicer than Bing's.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Re: Aerial View ...I should have said... a little nicer than Bing's IF Google has it. Google's aerial views aren't available for most places.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Bing Sucks. It looks like yahoo banner ads and Google text ads had sex and out came a search engine. I don'g have any idea what the results are because the look made me throw up and I went back to Google. I feel like an Apple-head being so snobby over look, but I just can't get over it.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Getting a new TV today. This is stressful.

    ReplyDelete
  162. I've never used Bing's search, either. Someone showed me the Bing map stuff once, but I still go straight to Google maps. One day Google will probably screw up and really turn me off, but for now, I avoid Microsoft as much as possible (as I type on my Windows PC upstairs..which arbitrarily shut down and rebooted this morning without warning...if I just cleaned up enough, I'd have a clear space on the desk and could bring my macbook up here).

  169. now all tubs has to do is beat texas 6 in a row while being blown out by baylor and iowa state regularly at home; have the 10 highest rated players in their next two recruiting classes not qualify; bring nall back to coach the OL; get a sexton induced contract extension after going 8-5 and stop recruiting; get rid of all their linebackers; and finally switch to the wing-t offense with spread personnel and tech will have had the full tubby experience.

maybe their wagon train from lubbock to little rock will be discovered when they try to hire petrino away from arky. jgt better find out if conestoga wagons can be tracked the same as airplanes and he can break that story when it happens.

    ReplyDelete
  170. if so, better ppl than anyone else. i hope it ain't so. i want to see what he can do other than field the season opening kickoff of the season and muff punts. there has got to be more to him than that.

at least this august AU doesn't have to fear the injury bug as much. there is now some depth, however inexperienced, where the was zero last year.

    ReplyDelete
  171. if it's true, someone better keep an eye on DL. He may try to take a cyanide pill or launch a missile.

  173. Texas Tech No Interest No Offer No Visit

If a recruit indicates "no interest" in Gridiron U. and he has "no offer" from GU, and hasn't scheduled a visit to GU, how on earth does GU end up on Scout's "Schools of Interest:"?

I didn't intentionally pick TTU, they just happened to be at the bottom of a list for a prominent D.C. area recruit, and I was curious why.

    ReplyDelete
  174. I heard PPL is day to day.

(I said it about a minute ago, so I'm just reporting what I heard)

  183. One word:

    SWEET!

    That is all.

    ReplyDelete
  184. If PPL is injured again, that would be sad. The kid deserves a chance to show what he can do, although he has done next to nothing so far.

I like the idea of having a few small speedy wide receivers, but so far he hasn't shown he can get open and catch the ball, which would really be nice for any of our wide receivers.

I am really hoping that Benton and Blake are good to go this season. We need someone else. In terms of receptions nobody was close to Adams. If I remember correctly, Fannin was second and Zachery third. Fannin was inconsistent and Zachery was more of a big play guy, rather than a possession receiver.

    ReplyDelete
  185. FSJ, its not cool to cheer an injury.

    ReplyDelete
  186. ***Trooper said he was proud of his receivers for not dropping a pass Saturday.

That's what I like to hear.

    ReplyDelete
  187. From what I have read, it seems like Cam is the leader at QB. He apparently got the most snaps at QB during the scrimmage, although he had one fumble. My guess is Malzahn is trying to pick the number 2 guy.

Eddins apparently has a knee injury, which is troubling. Since big snacks isn't getting reps, it would have been nice for Eddins to have got them.

    ReplyDelete
  188. The drops thing is huge. I can remember an argument I had about Jason Campbell before the MSU game in 2003. Someone was critical of Campbell. I told them to watch the game and watch how many of his passes are dropped. Recievers can definitely make a QB look bad.
