Schedule update

Hey everyone. Good morning. I will be heading to Auburn in a bit for the team's sixth spring practice. Reporters are not permitted inside the practice gates this time, but we'll be talking with people afterward.

Please come back and see what is said.

Also, the annual Auburn-Alabama baseball series begins tonight. This first game will be televised live by CSS ... if you're lucky enough to have it. I am no. Saturday and Sunday's game will not be televised.

  1. Despite what PF said yesterday, I'm substance free, as always.

  2. Good morning Beat Hack Tate. I'll definitely return to hear what they're talking about. Thanks so much for providing all the salient info!

  3. Short story time:

So I'm laying sod in my yard yesterday. Everything went great. I get in the shower and notice a portion of my left leg is numb. I get anxious. I call the REAL Dr. HABOTN, my radiologist father, and ask him if I need to go to the clinic.

He laughs for a second and says: "I guess you've never irritated a disk before. You'll be fine by this time tomorrow night."

Sure enough, I wake up today with about 75% feeling in that leg.

    Parents = awesome.

  4. He said this is "somewhat common." I've never heard of such a thing. I hear disk and I think surgery.

Glad there are less serious disk issues.

  6. Glad you are ok this morning, Jay. Parents are wonderful - both having them and being them.

  7. Just as a heads-up: I will not be attending Auburn's scrimmage on Saturday. I am taking a church-related trip and helping with the Easter vigil Mass.

    I apologize ahead of time.

    ReplyDelete
  8. No apology necessary, HNP Tate. Please enjoy your weekend.

And remember, yard work is bad for your health. Same thing happened to me about 8 years ago from raking.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I hate yardwork. I haven't had to mow yet, but it's looking like it's going to need it within the week...plus I have to buy a new weedeater.

Anyway, will there be any Hatin' w/Jay G on the radio or does that not happen anymore?

  10. WERK,
    How is our dad doing?

  11. never apologize for putting the Lord in front of work/peeps. do what you do JG.

glad your leg is recovering today. as a person who has herniated a disc in the C6-C7 region of my spine i have done quite well without surgery. of course, i work out a lot to strengthen those muscles around it so that helps. you'll be golden.

  12. Looking forward to the talks.
Cut my grass Wed er cut my weeds, grass is still brown.
Still takes about 2 hours and wasn't too bad since the temp wasn't too high.

  13. Couldn't resist!!!!

Look at my little granddaughter in my avatar.

Her dad just sent it over. Rylan loves her daddy's Aubie hat....she evidently knows a good thing!!!!

  14. Brother Jet can probably provide more specifics, but I believe I read this in Genesis...

"and spine surgery begat spine surgery."

I'm not letting anyone near my spine unless i'm in danger of permanent paralysis.

  15. as i get older, i enjoy yard work a lot more. when i was a youngster, it was torture. now i don't mind it at all.

  19. Cincy,

He's doing ok. The first few days after surgery he was doing really well, but now the chemo seems to be kicking in and he's energy level is way down. We took him and mom out to eat last night and he was in good spirits.

    Thanks for asking.

  27. I had shoulder pain that was finally diagnosed as a herniated disk in my neck. Now that I know what to do (crt screen below eye level and never "crane" my neck) no more problems.

  28. Speaking of embarrassing news stories, my congressman made me proud by warning a Navy Admiral at a hearing that if we keep sending people to Guam it could capsize. He had the island's dimensions and was fully prepared for his assertion. I'm not kidding. It's on utube.

  29. Eltoro looks even more ripped in that picture than last season. I bet he's been using the Total Gym© on a regular basis, just like Chuck Norris.

  30. astatguy - this is indeed scary. I have questions as to whether people of that iq should be allowed to vote... and he's making laws!!!

  32. Harrison, panty raid planned after the games?

  33. I just watched that video and it was painful. I'm certainly glad that Cynthia McKinney no longer has the words "Georgia Representative" attached to her name, but the national embarrassment from this office continues, just in less sensational fashion.

    ReplyDelete

Yup!! ...I'm so proud to live in Ga. and have this type representation.

Just think, although from the same congressional district, he is a step up in intelligence from CMcKinney.

    Stoopid is as stoopid does.

  35. sc- only if Butler wins NC, then we're gonna do a underpants/bra raid.

  40. Ok. That's the coolest Congress has ever been. I had no idea they were smoking that much pot and eating shrooms in chambers.

Yeaaaah, man. The island's gonna, like, tip over into the ocean. Craaaaazyyyy.

  41. Baseball is also on ESPN360.com tonight for those of you that are unlucky enough not to have CSS.

  42. Good job by the Admiral keeping it together. He looked like he almost started laughing.

  43. I ain't got either, PF. If I'm lucky, maybe I can find some hockey to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Y'all don't get CSS in Alabama or is it just limited to certain cities?

    ReplyDelete
  45. What time is first pitch PF, 6:30?

    ReplyDelete
  46. 6:00, Wells.

Hope Corey can come back strong from his ever so short outing last Friday.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Bellefay, Jay G and his homies doesn't get it because they're too cool for cable and have dishes. THT's not in Alabama, and others have crappy cable companies other than Comcast or Charter.

    ReplyDelete
  48. First home track meet of the season today and tomorrow. Good luck to Ralph Spry jr's father's teams.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I get CSS here in B'ham.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Peter,

lol @ dish people. I do remember though when I was in college, Auburn had no competition so we got stuck with like 40 bucks for cheapo cable while the people in Montgomery could get bundle deals that were cheaper then standard cable in Auburn. Auburn student cable used to have all these odd international channels that would show nudity or just weird programming. There was this kind of hidden camera show that was rather disturbing. A guy would act like he tripped on ledge and was dropping baby and people would dive for it. When they saw it was just a doll, they would laugh.

Anyway, I love my comcast in Atlanta. Super fast inernet and a ton of HD.

  51. First home track meet of the season today and tomorrow. Good luck to Harry Adams (who won the 100m in his first meet last week) and Ralph Spry jr's father's teams.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Bellefay, it's still like that. We pay $135 a month for cable with a few HD channels, and not much selection. Its absolutely ridiculous. 3 of us split it, which helps a little, but my parents have said they don't pay anything near this much.

The campus cable has at least 2 channels in all of the following languages: Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and French.

  53. Anonymous11:58 AM

Verizon FIOS if you can get it is the best. My $110/month package includes internet, 2 boxes (1 a DVR) and around 120 HD channels and no signal drops.

Since aides prepare a lot of material for politicians, I'm wondering about the aide's qualifications. Maybe the aide joked about the island tipping over. In any case, I'm wondering how anyone could not know better.

Jay Leno had 3 "celebs" on his show last night answering simple, recent, history questions in a game show format. K-Fed, some chick and Bobby Brown were the "celebs". Bobby Brown won, but all 3 were just plain ignorant. KFed ...(Brittany's Baby's Daddy) was the worst and is probably not even qualified to work at McDonalds.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Comcast in Atlanta. Super fast internet and two HD boxes is around 90. My cable signal was messing up on a Saturday and I thought I was going to miss the NFL games on Sunday. Comcast sent out a tech at 10 on a Sunday morning, changed out my box and gave me one with a bigger DVR.

    Hoopie,
That's why Jay Leno isn't funny. He gets laughs by finding stuipid people and showing everyone that they're stupid. Jaywalking..."Hey! Look! There's stupid people on the streets of LA." Headlines..."everyone send me stuff and i'll read it on air.

    <TEAM COCO

    ReplyDelete
  56. bellefay- right about Leno. I have been hating him for years because of that. when you're funniest gag is newspaper headlines..you suck

    ReplyDelete
  57. CoCo should've gotten a bigger payout.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Anonymous12:15 PM

Yeah, I liked Coco better. I watch Jay now because I hate Letterman and his biased one-sided political jokes coupled with his stammering stickt more.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Anonymous12:17 PM

Check out Chris Low(JG's future ESPN partner). He has put up 3 nice AU articles and a video this am.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Letterman was only worth watching when Warren Zevon was the show.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Anonymous12:20 PM

An $80 mil package for Coco and his crew is pretty substantial.

Coco won the battle ...and the war with NBC. If he had held out for more cash than he got, no other network would touch him in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  62. hoopie- if you don't like celebrities for their political views you wouldn't watch any tv's or movies. Letterman is funny

    ReplyDelete
  63. we probably won't make it to 88, so...

    ReplyDelete
  64. Anonymous12:27 PM

Actually, the more I think about it. Leno asks questions and lets folks prove their stupidity.

Letterman adopts an understated, but nevertheless arrogant, elitest, biased humor designed to convince folks that one political viewpoint is stoopid. then
Letterman does the self-depreciating humor as a coverup. He's like a Bill Maher lite.

  65. well said, Hoopie.

JGT should be giving us something more fun to talk about pretty soon.

  66. When he first started he was really awkward and hardly knew what was going on, but I like Jimmy Fallon on late night now. The Roots have a solid music backup for him, although I don't get why there's 12+ of them in the band...

Jimmy Kimmel has grown on me too. This skit was particularly funny.

H ..I'm not into celeb worship and find it quite easy to fill any of my personal media entertainment requirements from celebs that keep their politics personal.

America has a lot of stupid people that actually think celebs know what they are talking about and gravitate towards their urgings. The media constantly puts the microphone in the celebs faces for comment. When the media starts giving equal microphone time for the average person and puts those comments in the national media, I'll reconsider my position. Until then, it's my(and most of my friends) way to try and balance the scales.

Gotta go spend money at an attorney. Later.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I knew we wouldn't get there. JGT is too good to us to make us wait that long!
