Auburn @ Ole Miss baseball

Hey everyone. Auburn is going for the SEC Western Division title tonight in Oxford, Miss.

I am not there. You probably aren't. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, though, we can pretend we are.

(Click on the little movie camera next to Friday's game for live stats.)

I'll be here after 8 p.m. CDT ... approximately.

Feel free to post along as the game progresses.

  39. alas, the untimely K doesn't help. AU-2 OM-0 to the bottom of 2

    ReplyDelete
  40. I never have followed baseball that closely, but I had no idea Auburn would have a shot at winning the west. Simply incredible.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Cole's already got 4 K's tonight. Looking pretty solid, according to the intrawebz

    ReplyDelete
  42. simulatenously cole nelson struck out the 3rd out as anna thompson did the same on tv

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  63. Is it too much to dream that AU football could improve as much in year 2 under Chiz as AU baseball has in year 2 under Paws?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Nelson lost his composure

    ReplyDelete
  65. AU women lose 1-0.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Need a pitching change now. This is his last batter.

    ReplyDelete
  67. The wheels came off of Cole.

Struck out 5 in a row and then couldn't get anyone out. double, double, walk, single, single, walk.
3 runs later and bases loaded ends his night.
Reliever coming with bases loaded and one out. bottom 4th
    Au 10-3

    ReplyDelete
  68. Slade Smith coming in to pitch.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Sac fly one run scores.

    ReplyDelete
  70. UGA also uses LiveStats...not that any of you were paying attention to AU baseball during spring practice (besides Miller and Wells).

    ReplyDelete
  71. ground out to end the inning
    10-4 AU.

    ReplyDelete
  72. You want me to stop?

    ReplyDelete
  73. HR for fletcher
    11-4

    ReplyDelete
  74. Cool with me, wtc....I'm busy right bow, so reading your play by play every other inning is great.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Is that Ole Miss's biggest inning this year? 4 runs is a lot for them at once.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Appreciate it, wtc, although I am getting nervous. What is worse than losing? Being ahead by 10 runs and losing. Hopefully we grab some insurance runs soon.

    ReplyDelete
  77. They have not had more than 5 this year.

    ReplyDelete
  78. That's what I thought. Sorry that Cole had to give them one of their best innings. He is definitely Joba. Keep him in the pen the rest of the year. He'll dominate there.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Bases loaded for AU 2 outs.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hargett walks.
    12-4 AU

    ReplyDelete
  81. Appreciate the shout out, PF. Nelson's stuff earlier was money. Hopefully the 4th inning blues from tonight don't carry into the SEC tourney and the post-season.

    ReplyDelete
  82. WIld pitch
    13-4

    ReplyDelete
  83. another walk. loaded for Mummey. 2 outs

    ReplyDelete
  84. Lovin'listening to this great baseball game!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. fly out to end the inning.
Au left them loaded in the 4th and the 5th

    ReplyDelete
  86. Nelson has awesome stuf, better than most. He's just not taking it into high pitch counts lately.

    ReplyDelete
  87. That complete game shut out against UT last weekend was as clutch of a performance as I've seen in a while. That team was HOT coming into our series with them, huge shutdown to set up Grant on Sunday.

    ReplyDelete
  88. nothing happening in the bottom of 5th.
13-4 AU headed to top of 6th.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I think Nelson got to @ 80 pitches tonight. For some reason, he started throwing curve balls and they hit it and then he couldn't get his fast ball over. Then he went mental and just couldn't find the plate and when he did, the hit him.

    ReplyDelete
  90. For those still watching the espen, GT is rocking Jacksonville St. Apparently they've hit 114 DONGS all year. That's a lot of dong for a women's softball team.

    ReplyDelete
  91. nice. should i go ahead and starting printing the 2010 SEC WESTERN DIVISION CHAMPIONS shirts? ;)

i keed, i keed. i'll wait until the 8th inning.

    ReplyDelete
  92. fletcher with a single, morris with a single. Patterson at bat.

    ReplyDelete
  93. This is a great college baseball website that my corndog friend turned me on to.

Its got all the day's action listed by top 30 and by conference. A lot of the time they'll accompany the match ups with links to similar live technology like this shin diggy tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  94. He only threw 93 pitches, and never really got into trouble in that game....I don't know what to say about him. He's good. Really good, But take out the exception of last week, and you'd say he's been up and down. I say make him Austin's setup guy or bring him in to bail out whichever starter falls apart (it's happened at least once a weekend all year). He can dominate out of the pen. It's his destiny.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Patteson goes yard

    ReplyDelete
  96. 4 DONGS already on the nite for AU.

    ReplyDelete
  97. McElroy up with nobody out!

    ReplyDelete
  98. nope, guess that makes 5. :)

    ReplyDelete
  99. the JOX audio is behind the HABOTN updates. AUsome! ha

    ReplyDelete
  100. 17-4!!! Heading to the exits

    ReplyDelete
  101. Thanks for the pitch count, wtc....solidifies my opinion. That's more than he can comfortably throw on a per inning average.

    ReplyDelete
  102. PF- I'd agree with you in saying he's been missing his consistency. He had a couple of games earlier this year that looked solid, then the next week he'd struggle to keep his stuff going for longer than 3/4 innings.

    ReplyDelete
  103. let's put 3 TD's on the board. come on 21!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Putting an exclamation point on winning the West.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Morris isn't going to get the pitches to break the AU single season HR Record is he?

    ReplyDelete
  106. I haven't seen this many dongs since I stumbled on the Red Elephant Club meeting at the Grant Hotel in 2003.

It was my one face to face meeting with Shula. He had loser written all over him.

There was a crowd of the people on the sidewalk leading into the building. He walked like a scared sophomore in the hallways of the high school, twisting and drooping his shoulders to avoid contact.

A real coach would have parted the crowd like Moses.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I'd say that Auburn can hit... just a little bit...

    ReplyDelete
  108. Kevin Ives' most recent tweet has me unable to stop laughing.

    "AUPPL

I'm nicknaming Kevin Patterson "The Kraken". He's a monster and absolutely "kracks" RELEASE THE KRAKEN"

    ReplyDelete
  109. i about fell out of my chair.

Jet admits he went to a red elephant club meeting.

    wtf?????

    ReplyDelete
  110. "A real coach..." Nice. I like it.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Jet, I am truly disappointed... I never thought I'd hear such disturbing news, not from you... SteveFC maybe... but not you.

    ReplyDelete
  112. If everything holds up, folks are saying we play LSU Wednesday at 9:30

    ReplyDelete
  113. in fairness Miller, he did say he 'stumbled' upon it. still....

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  114. Everyone at a REC meeting "stumbles" in...

    ReplyDelete
  115. More amazing thing about all of these ding dongs this year: Paws is a small ball coach that has put extra emphasis on moving the runners this year because AU had so any issues winning games despite the highest HR tally in schol history. To be fair, the batting averages are up as result, but I just didn't expect to see the power numbers up too.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I was at a conference at the Grand, and I was walking out of a reception, and someone said the "Red Elephants" are here, too. I was talking with some folks and Shula stepped out of a car, and looked like the most lost guy in the world.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Anonymous9:20 PM

Is there a mercy rule in college baseball?

    ReplyDelete
  118. i think if AU holds on, this sets an SEC record for wins for AU.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Nova... no lie... I just tweeted that very same thing.... in jest of course, because unfortunately for Ole Miss, there is no such thing...

    ReplyDelete
  120. Show No Mercy! Beat the crap out of them to the point where they are demoralized and tomorrow is esy on Grant (has tomorrow's pitcher been announced? I'm assuming it will be Grant, but haven't heard).

    ReplyDelete
  121. Anonymous9:23 PM

I was jesting as well, but this is getting ugly. I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Wow,have they given up?! We still have 3 1/2 innings to go.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Trent Mummey is the man

    ReplyDelete
  124. IF AU sweeps Ole Miss... we're guaranteed to host a regional...

IF AU sweeps Ole Miss and goes deep int he SEC tourney... we could very well end up a national seed...

    This team can hit folks...

    ReplyDelete
  125. The only down side tonight is that the infidels have won. Also FL won the regular season.

    ReplyDelete
  126. my sensei once said....

    STRIKE HARD
    STRIKE FAST
    NO MERCY SIR!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  127. WTC, you're slacking. I'm going to be forced to get in front of a computer for play by play, aren't I?

    ReplyDelete
  128. I can't believe GA is killing Kentuck.

    ReplyDelete
  129. here's the play by play....

and they are talking too fast on the radio for me to transcribe it all...

    ReplyDelete
  140. She is a Hallmark rep that calls on Walmarts. Her stores did $1.2 million in Mother's day cards. At @ $3.75 a card, that is a boat load of cards.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Ole Miss' threat is nothing but a tease. K to end the inning.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Hunter leads off...

    ReplyDelete
  143. WTC ... is she on a boat load of cards?

    ReplyDelete
  144. I said UGa would eventually be good. I didn't think it would take them 9 SEC series to get there.
In retrospect, they lost too much (including a Freshman in a tragic scooter accident). Lots of draft picks from 2009.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Morris singles past the 3B down the line...

    ReplyDelete
  146. I avoid WalMart like the plague so Mrs. WTC saw none of my money from there.
