Auburn Arena is basically finished. It's time for landscaping and fixtures.
The new soccer/track complex is not basically finished.

Arena!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see it. Seriously.
ReplyDeletei like the large bird. it looks cool in person. got to see it at graduation last friday.
ReplyDeleteDo you know who built it?
ReplyDeletewhat's going on at the track/soccer facility?
ReplyDeletenevermind....you answered with photos. cool. thanks.
ReplyDeleteHarbert built the arena.
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the other project.
I like the large AU creed.
ReplyDeleteAubie Hall? ..kinda corny.
Good job Homer. I hope to make a few games this year (basketball).
ReplyDeleteVery corny.
ReplyDeleteThe sign is so small ... maybe it's a temporary name?
haha, the Tiger Prowler hoopty bus has its own website. check it:
ReplyDeleteTIGER PROWLER
Jay, did you see my question near the end of last thread? Concerning upgrade of Hotties to the Ring of Fire.
ReplyDeleteScottie ... I'm gonna guess track and soccer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour, Jay. That bus looks wild, but it is an attention getter.
ReplyDeleteDigger ... I'll go back and take a gander.
ReplyDeleteIt is time for the current RoF crew (minus our latest class) to talk about enshrinement.
ReplyDeleteI haven't followed the Arena construction except on for what has been brought up on the HABOTN.
ReplyDeleteLearning that Harbert built the Arena explains how it got done so fast. For years Harbert has been the pre-eminent fast-track, cost-plus construction company in Ala. I'm sure that Harbert is still full of top AU grads ...and the Harbert family steps up for AU regularly.
Thanks JGT. I may not make it but there are others that deserve it.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures JGT. Toured the arena after A-Day game. Don't know how I missed the eagle in the window!
ReplyDeleteJay ...just did a quick peruse of the names on the front page.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it might be a big 'ol class of inductees.
I'm on a bus
ReplyDeleteEverybody get their Jay Jacobs e-mail and run out and purchase SEC baseball tournament tickets? I'm still deciding. If I lived in B'ham, I would be there.
ReplyDeleteLove the Arena! Thanks JayG.
ReplyDeleteNice pics Homer.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the "Feeling the Heat" lineup, I notice more than a few who've been mysteriously absent lately. Who knows what's up with LUV, J-Z, IV, Aero (actually, I think we all do), just to name a few? Inquiring minds, well mine at least...
Some people slip away during the offseason, return on Reporting Day. It's the circle of life.
ReplyDeleteLuv is blocked out at work, apparently.
ReplyDeleteJ-Z and Carmela are continuing their whirlwind romance at a kibbutz in Israel.
IV met a nice lady at the home and the spend their days enjoying tapioca.
Aero swoops in from time to time.
Quitstina, a RoF member, is apparently being held captive by her zoo animals and a new bidness venture.
mmmm....tapioca
ReplyDeleteAnybody been through a retreatment of a root canal? If so, is it any worse than the original procedure? Unfortunately, that's what is on my agenda for next week. Not happy about it...
ReplyDeleteI eat tapioca, when all other eatables are gone. Keep it in my pantry so I don't starve.
ReplyDeleteI'm aware of Quitstina's current status/obligations. I was not aware of Tapioca man. I think I may have assumed that to be the case for Luv.
ReplyDeleteCarmela ... I sure do miss "her".
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pics Jay. These combined with the pics of the interior I've seen almost make me want to drive 4 hours to see a B-ball game.
ReplyDeleteEhyou, how did you answer my question before I posted it? I really hope "tapioca" is not a major part of my future diet.
ReplyDeleteI should've said 4 hours one way
ReplyDeleteHer, him or it.
ReplyDeleteCarmela was fun in "her" time here.
ReplyDeleteI got to go find something to eat
ReplyDeletebesides tapioca. catch you later
I told you guys already, both Kristeenuh and FSJ have been kidnapped by puppets. I tried to save them with a containment dome. Didn't work. Still open to other rescue options.
ReplyDelete"She" was quite an attention whore, uh, interesting person.
ReplyDeleteZookeeper is pretty into this business venture of hers. I hope she makes a million dollars and donates at least $2,000 to the HABOTN Tailgate Fund, LLC.
ReplyDeleteHow about good ol' Salsa Shark? He is such a joy when he's around.
ReplyDeleteNever had a RC ChocoScott. Are you reduced to pudding consumption?
ReplyDeleteehyou - I maintain that we do in fact hear from Salsa somewhat regularly albeit under a different alias.
ReplyDeleteNot to divert attention from former bloggers, just heard something surprising on Atlanta sports talk radio (you can see my other note at the end of the other thread) Star Jackson to Georgia State. Really?!?
ReplyDeleteSalsa Shark....blast from the past.
ReplyDeleteWas it this puppet --------->>>>>> that took FSJ and Zookeeper captive?
ReplyDeleteShould be pointing to my avatar. Oops.
ReplyDeleteI saw that bus on Wire Road out by the old Feed & Seed next to the trailer park when we left the baseball game on Sat. Very impressive!
ReplyDeleteI agree Norm. I'll refer to him/her as....Debbie Downer. How's that?
ReplyDeleteI believe we're on the same page.
ReplyDeleteNo pudding consumption now. Just hoping that's not my full menu for next week.
ReplyDeleteI went to the website to see the bus and I want to know why the women always look hawt and the men always look like the just came out to the field? Do men ever dress up for the women?
ReplyDeleteI saw Trovon Reed and Justin Delanie on campus today. Getting started early ...
ReplyDeleteWEG: Rarely.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, I didn't dress up often in college. I met my lady friend early on, though, so maybe that explains it?
WEG - I can't remember the last article of clothing I wear which I personally bought. Hot Wife tends to such things for me. So, I dress how she wants me to dress which for the most part is pretty cool with me.
ReplyDeleteNorm, so she digs it when guys wear big "MM"s on their shirt?
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize Jackie Sherrill sued the NCAA 5 years ago for forcing him out of coaching. It evidently is ongoing.
ReplyDeleteDude, you don't even wear pants.
ReplyDeleteSOCCER
ReplyDeleteLooks like the Adult Soccer league they are starting in my small home town of Villa Rica is a go and I'm signed up. Can't wait. Should be a blast.
I want more details about the Hugh Nall lawsuit. Where does everything stand there? The irony of why Tubs was able to fill a job at Texas Tech and that lawsuit are funny.
ReplyDeleteWhat position, bro?
ReplyDeleteFullback...midfielder...unsure.
ReplyDeleteAll the greats in soccer are known by one name.
ReplyDeletePele, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and now ...
Eddie.
GGGOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL!
ReplyDeleteEddie,
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple of guys at my place of employment (that also has a prof soccer stadium across the parking lot) that play in an adult league in the area. They often come to work bruised and limping. I think we're too old for that stuff.
Stick me out on the right wing with a decent CF and I'll put the ball on his head everytime.
ReplyDeleteWait, what are we talking about again?
....not that there's anything wrong with that.
ReplyDeleteI never dressed up in college. My first semester of sophomore year, my earliest class was Music Appreciation at 12:30. I generally woke up at 12ish, ate a pop tart, and walked over in my t-shirt, house shoes, and pajama pants. Ahhhhhhhhh, college.
ReplyDeleteI should say on Tuesday and Thursdays it was my earliest class. Had an 8:00 on MWF. I came in very late a lot and made a C. And now I have a job.
ReplyDeleteI am an Educated American! Woohoo!
Afternoon HOTTIES....Michael TMI on the house shoes and Pajama pants!
ReplyDeleteI think it's time we put Feng in the RoF.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of the all white baseball helmet/jersey/pants.
ReplyDeleteLowcountry- Probably...but I'm cruisin for a bruisin
ReplyDeleteMy class attending apparel was generally a pair of shorts, t-shirt, flip flops and a ball cap.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the new Village dorms have some interesting names. Maybe it's advertising to get someone to donate enough to take Aubie's spot?
ReplyDeleteAlthough I bet Aubie won't let it go without a fight.
hmmmmm ......we need somthing controversial or fun to discuss. Otherwise we'll end up with another Ding Dong discussion.
ReplyDeleteI've given up on $aban leaving the 'necks, so that leaves the Big 10 expansion. Barnhart has a good article with some choice, candid Jim Delaney's opinions on NCAA wealth redistribution.
I LOVE the huge Auburn Creed. It is one of my favorite things about Auburn. I really feel like it sets us apart from a lot of "others." Sorry, cheesy reminiscing over.
ReplyDeleteAubie Hall? Seriously? It's gotta be temporary. Just like "Auburn Arena" and "Auburn Student Union" are temporary. When this recession lets up, some big shot will donate enough money to change all those temp names to whatever they decide. A lot of students my senior year wanted the union to be the Vincent "Bo" Jackson Student Union, which we would all shorten to "The Bo." However, contrary to popular belief, students have no say so in anything anymore. It's all about the money.
Something controversial?
ReplyDeleteThat's my cue...
Eddie ..adult soccer, if it "dudn't keelya" will ensure you keep the weight off.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the phone with No Ga. hillbillies all day and just gotta let some of it back out.
Some guys are calling the new student union "Foy Terminal" because they think it looks like an airport on the inside.
ReplyDeleteConference expansion? Bring back Tech. I don't care if the spurned the SEC, I'm a younger generation and I never got to experience the rivalry. Plus I want the Wreck Tech Pajama Parade.
ReplyDeleteOf course walking the concourse before 10 AM is a pajama parade in itself.
MiniWEG ...sorry to bust the utopian perfect world balloon blown up by your professors, but ITS ALWAYS ABOUT THE MONEY and I hate it as much as the next guy.
ReplyDeleteConversely, if it's not about the money, then what's left ..the commune-ity?
Oh Hoopie, bless you. My professors never lead me to believe in a "perfect utopian world" as you put it. I'm pretty sure I learned that lesson in the private high school I went to for 4 years. It's definitely ALL about the money.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm just wishing I had some. :)
Ah... the concourse before 10am... I think I saw it once.
ReplyDeleteLowcountry...was it before an 11:30 kick-off?
ReplyDeleteDEANDRE GREEN!!!
ReplyDeleteIS NO...
ReplyDeleteBEASLEY!!!
ReplyDeleteI am not Salsa Shark. Not that there was a question about that.
ReplyDeleteDo any of you know why Ray Melcik left the B'ham News?
ReplyDeleteI think we established Salsa Shark was a sensible man.
ReplyDeleteSorry Sensi. I heard he did, but not why.
ReplyDeleteRay Melick's farewell article.
ReplyDeleteSensi ... I presume he took the buyout ... several folks throughout the newsroom did, according to industry sources.
ReplyDeleteAh, wow. Somehow I missed that Melick was leaving. That's surprising (to me, at least).
ReplyDeletePF - I never thought it was you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the confidence, Norm.
ReplyDeleteMy ballot is in.
ReplyDeleteIf I were talking about Peter in secret I would use code name 'Sunshine Pumper'.
ReplyDeleteOr Pete, right?
ReplyDeleteIn the trucking world, Peterbilt is sometimes known as simply "Pete."
ReplyDeleteE-Bro... Saturdays don't count. I definitely saw the concourse early, but I seem to remember a couple that could have just been really late Friday nights.
ReplyDeleteI always tried to line-up my classes from 8-11. That way party time could commence around noonish.
ReplyDeleteHomer - you wanna know what I'd like to hear? I'll tell you what I'd like to hear - some Pawlowski audio clips. That'd be awesome! Will you make that happen for me?
ReplyDeleteAubie Hall sounds good to me. My favorite contribution of Aubie was the day he stole the 4-wheeler from the grounds crew at Mississippi State and secruity was chasing him around the grassy areas (now enclosed) beyond the north end zone. Fortunately, they didn't tase him, but did eject him from the game.
ReplyDeleteThe Bo sounds fabulous.
I like Norm's request. If this were Facebook, I'd just push the button that says that.
ReplyDeleteJet, I remember that "Stite" game well. That crew of Aubies was also involved in the Arkansas altercation that resulted in the razorback's broken nose if I remember correctly.
ReplyDeleteYou know what, Norm?
ReplyDeleteI'M THE MAN TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN.
Someone named vironic had this to say on Ray Melick's final blog post:
ReplyDelete"Your Post-Herald work was much better than your writing on the News staff. Mailing it in, maybe?"
The world is full of bitter people with so much hostility in their hearts. That's all you can say there.
Everyone's a critic.
ReplyDeleteJGT that's the reason I can't read most of the other blogs coming out of al: just too many mean people. I actually think the folks in bammerham are going to miss Melick.
ReplyDeleteGlad we're kinder and gentler here... well, except for Michael.
Behind the protection of the internet everyone can say whatever they want with no repercussion...right?
ReplyDeleteHowever, Jay G's right, there are far too many bitter people out in this world.
AL.com is leading the league in bitter posters.
ReplyDeletethey need to make some lemonade
ReplyDelete
