Celebrating 2001!

Hey everyone. We have reached another significant HABOTN milestone with our 2,001th post!

Thanks to the HOTTIES (and everyone else) making this site just relevant enough to stick around. It's really a pleasure.

We should hold some kind of event to mark this fine occasion ... but I just realized my DVR isn't recording LOST. I'm more than a little annoyed. Let's just say a certain piece of electronic equipment may or may not have spent its final night in my home.

  4. The "three comments to be moderated" are left over from the Corncob Attack of 2009. I started using that as a quarantine for the completely silly, pointless comments from Iowa fans back then.

And there's no way to erase them. So they just sit there and will continue to sit there ... FOREVER.

A shelf life like maize, no?

    ReplyDelete
  5. I think I'll celebrate with a drink.

  6. Congrats on this groundbreaking achievement! Love the late night substance.

If the Children of the Corn give you any more lip, you can beat them with a sack of sweet valencia oranges. Won't leave a bruise but shows them whose boss, no doubt about it.

  21. You know, I've always found corn difficult to digest.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jet - so did the Confederate horses and mules. That's how it got to be eaten twice, the 2nd time by the soldiers.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jay, it looks like you will be watching Lost like me: on Hulu the next day. My Wednesday is always filled with prayers that I don't stumble across any Lost spoilers on HABOTN or anywhere else on the internets.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Speaking of confederates, do you guys think the civil war was about states' rights or slavery?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Lost was pretty decent tonight.

At the end, the people who were lost at the start of the show were still lost. The suspense was riveting. Oh... Sorry, Michael. I didn't mean to spoil it for you.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The War of Northern Aggression was about States' rights and the right to choose our own form of government. Please refer to the northern treatment of blacks thru the 80's if you want to think it was about slavery. While slavery was evil, the cause was not. When was the last riot in Ciny anyway?

Sorry for the late rant as I missed the first E-Bro/Michael incited dust up and have a little residual pent up musings to offer. Now, what's up with the BC Coaching situation?

  29. Had a gator crawl into a coy pond at some peoples house tonight. Trapper wouldn't come because it was too small, we had to get it out. It wasn't a big one, about 5 foot, but those small ones are QUICK.

  30. API...As THT can attest to, we can just agree to disagree about the causes of the Civil War. Not sure what racism in the North has to do with it as racism was pervasive throughout the US for a long time.

There's a great line from the Civil Rights Era when an Illinois Civil Rights Activists comes down to Mississippi and is suprised to see a black family living peacefully next to a white family that otherwise wants to deny them rights. The black patriarch responds, "Up North, they want black people to have voting rights, but they don't want black people living next to them. Down South, they don't mind if black people live next to them, they just don't want black people to be able to vote."

All this said, Northerners did not enslave people against their will. But we'll just agree to disagree before it takes over the blog again.

    Soccer talk anyone? No?

    ReplyDelete
  31. how Ironic... a civil rights activist from Illinois... the same northern state (Indiana was another) that made it illegal for African-Americans to come into or reside within their state borders.

E-bro - I can't read or write, and I ain't no speaker. So if you need to know the way I think about most anything, you'll find it in more eloquent fashion here.

    ReplyDelete
  32. States Rights Michael - slavery was injected as an issue by Lincoln later to "Rally the Troops" as they were getting their collective arses kicked by a guy named Lee.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oohhh - and Congrat's JGT!!! Thanks for keeping the blog relative a entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Morning Hotties.

Congrats Homer, I'm happy to have been a part of some of the threads leading up to the 2001th. I remember the corncob days well. I can't wait for their return.

Once we've settled the Civil War debate, I have a couple of suggestions for other debate topics - I'd like to suggest that you start with Roe vs. Wade, good or bad?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't know why, but I blame the Civil War on Bama fans. I believe their ancestors to be at the root of it all.

    ReplyDelete
  36. settled? That ain't gonna happen until E-Bro sees the light ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Our neighborhood is filled with immigrants from up north. I greatly prefer that to a neighborhood of bammers. The very thought makes me cringe.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think we should have a civil war between separatists and slavers to determine the cause of the civil war once and for all.

    ReplyDelete
  39. JGT - did you ask Coach Barbee how long it will be before they announce the schedule for the upcoming season?

    ReplyDelete
  40. 2001 posts on blogger. Not bad. Time to start a new count on a better site. Blogger is falling to pieces right now. Can't wait for the new site.

    ReplyDelete
  41. didn't somebody think we were getting a point guard transfer from UTx?

    think again

    ReplyDelete
  42. well, looks like we've already taken a step up in basketball. We can now out-recruit the likes of Buffalo, Northeastern, Rutgers, and UNC-Greensboro.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Where have you been THT? That's been hashed out already.

As far as Barbee recruiting, I think it is outstanding. You need to also add the likes of Alabama, Kentucky, etc for the other guys he signed.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Nice avatar, bro. I dig it.

And congrats to JayG and all the Hotties for making 2001 happen.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Eddie: I expect us to be moving in short order.

    Yes, Blogger is failing.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Chris Denson has no effect on the possibility of Varez Ward coming to Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  47. We had a trivia thing at work the other day and one of the top ten lists was sites visited...of all the sites...Blogger came in no. 9. This amazed me but then it started to explain some things.

    ReplyDelete
  48. DID YOU EXPENSE THE LAP DANCES?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  49. time to crunch some numbers on basketball scholarships. Do they have annual limits/yr like football, or just an overall limit?

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm still trying to figure out what "annual limits/yr" is vs just "annual limits". This may take me a while. Y'all have a great day!

    ReplyDelete
  51. annul limits / yr sounds like bamer math to me.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think other schools were picking up interest in Denson. I understand their were "grade" concerns before.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm excited to hear Dyer, Whitaker, Carter, Delain, Reed, Owens, Smith and Clark are on campus and ready for the summer session and workouts!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I did the job I was hired to do.

    ReplyDelete
  55. "I think I'm going to stay at Auburn for the first mini-semester in the summer and then go home and attend Sam Houston State the second mini-semester." Rollison says he does not have any regrets about signing with Auburn and appreciates the opportunity given to him."

Good luck to Tyrik. I hope he is successful at Sam Houston.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Malzahn named Sporting News #1 OC

He is good, but I'm not sold on him being #1 just yet.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Annual limits/yr is kinda like saying 6AM in the morning isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  58. You do get some funny links when you google "Jay G Tate Iowa."

    ReplyDelete
  59. Or SEC conference.

    Or UAT cousin humpers.

    Or drunken UGA coed.

    ReplyDelete
  60. For the record, I believe the reason for fighting the Civil War was state's rights

The Confederate Soldiers who owned slaves probably fought for the right to do so (state's rights)

The Confederate Soldiers who were too poor to own slaves probably fought because they felt like southern states were being ignored and benefits given to northern states(state's rights=lack of equality in industry, agriculture, etc.)

    ReplyDelete
  61. There is a 6AM in the morning? Surely you jest.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Stop calling me Shirley.

    ReplyDelete
  63. 2001 posts, huh!

I'd like to know how many Hottie (and nonHottie) comments have been made to those posts???

Seems like thousands, or millions or maybe even gazillions

    ReplyDelete
  64. Good morning, Hotties! I have missed you all. Tylerson is moved in and organized and ready to begin his next stage of life! And I am worn out!

We had a great graduation and the move went off flawlessly. He sure has accumulated a lot of stuff for a 23 year old.

Kathy treated us to a wonderful lunch in the old jail in Madison. Thank you, Kathy!!!

Having a luncheon at my house tomorrow, so I guess I should get to the grocery.

Great job, Jay, on your 2001st post!!!

Been so long since I posted I have to go look up my newfangled password. :) Have a great day everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I wonder if anyone went to my graduation. I know I didn't...sounded boring.

    ReplyDelete
  66. mornin' Shirley....i mean Norm.

    ReplyDelete
  67. glad you're back Cincy. congrats again to Tylerson.

    ReplyDelete
  68. API- unfortunately I'm all too familiar with 6AM in the morning

    ReplyDelete
  69. Me too. Sucks.

So does 4:20. I know that one pretty well, too.

    ReplyDelete
  70. the only reason I went to my AU graduation was those who paid for my AU education wanted to see me graduate. It was a little weird since I had left AU a year earlier. My graduation ceremony didn't mean that much to me. Heck, I probably won't even attend my funeral.

MrsTHT and I are heading to lunch at UNC with some folks who like old maps. Hottie Ho!

    ReplyDelete
  71. old maps rawk! have a good one THT.

    ReplyDelete
  72. That's why I refused to take money from my folks after I graduated HS...keeps them out of my business.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I agree. Most old stuff is cool. Maps are way cool.

    ReplyDelete
  74. My favorite of Corn-Gate was the guy called Jay G a "moran."

If you are a moran, are you related to Erin Moran, star of "Happy Days" and "Joanie Loves Chachi?"

Or perhaps George "Bugs" Moran, whose gang was wiped out in the St. Valentine's Day Massacre in Chicago?

    ReplyDelete
  75. i think there was a kid who played baseball for AU back in '99-'00 named Jevon Moran.

    ReplyDelete
  76. They've even got their own website.

    Morans With Signs

    ReplyDelete
  77. Eddie,

Gus the # 1 OC in college football?

I just can't go along with that. Maybe after this year, we'll see. However last year we were very inconsistent on offense. We seemed to get off to hot starts but couldn't adjust once the other teams made adjustments.

We also put up huge numbers against bad teams, but struggled to move the ball a lot in the conference.

We were good on offense last year, but not great. This year could change a lot, but I think it's too early to crown Gus the king just yet.

    ReplyDelete
  78. There is alimit onthe number of basjet ball players you can sign in a year. I belive it is no more than 6 per year with a team max of 13.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I remember Javon Moran, he played here in Chattanooga for the Lookouts a few years back.

    ReplyDelete
  80. The article of Gus basically lists him as #1 due to having a new QB every year and still having large numbers from those guys. Looks like they think that he must be good because he had no continuity at QB for any 2 year period and still had offenses put up big numbers.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Much like Chris Todd's overall numbers, on paper last year the end results for our offense looked great. However there are a lot of hidden things in those numbers that you don't see from a distance.

    ReplyDelete
  82. RK- That echo's my thoughts as well. Future looks bright, but I want to see good consistent offense this year against good opponents. I think the QB will help out a lot being mobile. I'm excited, but Gus #1 is a big stretch to me at this time.

    ReplyDelete
  83. So Finebaum declared war on the Big11 Conference yesterday. This guys never ceases to amaze.

Somehow at the end, the commenters turned it into an UA is better than AU debate and visa versa.

    ReplyDelete
  84. belated BEASLEY....

    HELLO KENNESAW GEORGIA!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I'll be posting a photo gallery before noon CDT.

    Theme: Athletic construction.

I'll take Auburn Arena for $200, Alex.

    ReplyDelete
  86. crap, i was going to guess Auburn Arena. oh, well.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Anonymous11:30 AM

Re: RKs and Eddies 10:17-10:27 comments I agree also.

CGM has done well, but a #1 rating seems too high. He certainly has the potential to put out the best offense if our QBs deliver and if the rest of the offensive talent has developed enough to allow CGM to use more of the play book and stay ahead of the SEC defenses.

Remember how Borges came in, totally installed his offense and slowly unveiled it as necessary to stay ahead of the defenses in one year?

So who would be the best OC in the nation?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Congratulations Jay G Tate on the 2001st post.
Thanks to all the Hotties that kept it alive and helped to make it happen.
Is there any plans in the near future to elevate the Hotties in waiting for the Ring of Fire.
I forget when Jay said this would happen.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I don't think it's only a question of lining up talent with Malzahn's system (which it seems he has), but also, a year later, he'll be that much more familiar with the players already there, and they with him.

If Cam can pick it all up, I expect this familiarity to produce more consistent results.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Hoopie,

I'm not able to email you. Try me again at eric.pate@linde.com.

WTC, Who is not going to qualify or who is not going to have their scholarship renewed in order to make room for Denson and possibly Ward?

  91. Quick. Everybody start prank emailing CHB.

    ReplyDelete
  92. good thing I trust you guys

    ReplyDelete
  93. CHB - you shouldn't trust any of us any further than you could kick us. Especially that Jet dude. I'm just sayin'.
