  7. WTC,
To answer your Q from previous thread...

I think he does commit sometime next month... but I'm not sure yet where. I'm hoping he makes it in for BCW, and that could make a difference. From what I hear, it is a tight one between us and Michigan.

  8. AU sets a school record for conference wins in a season with a record of 20-10.
The sweep of Ole Miss was the 3rd SEC series sweep of the season....

These Tigers are on fire... the bats are en fuego... Hopefully that carries over into the postseason.

  65. Like I said, some like me were blown away. Others weren't. That's fine.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Norm told me to tell you that the end of "Lost" came down like this ... it turns out Kristin shot J.R., and that Pam walked into the bathroom and Bobby was in the shower and the whole series turned out to be a dream. Truman found out it was actually his life was a TV show in a containment dome, and the rest discovered there weren't any monsters in the woods outside the village, it was just a ruse to act like they in the 1800s because they were a bunch of losers who couldn't handle modern society.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Also, apparently the Aliens don't like water.

Lost: I watched 3 years without fail then "lost" interest when it got wierd. Did not watch last night.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Anonymous10:43 AM

    I'm in that boat also.

I watched the first 2 episodes of LOST. The writing was hokey in how they hid the situation/info to create suspense. Then the shaky, narrow camera angles to create the illusion of suspense, really made it hokey.

For all you LOST lovers ...I'm happy for you.

We watch the Monday night CBS sitcoms, which are entertaining to us, but would receive critical disdain.

Ms Hoopie got out of her Wednesday commitments, which means we can leave early for our trip to Hattiesburg and go to the 9:30 am game in the Ham. WOOT!

Must admit that my Hate has recently been allowed to cool down to just a bed of coals.

Let's see ...I just need to spend 5 min reading the Crapstone Report for fuel ...and then fire up one of Ms. Hoopie's backpack blowers.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I think it very likely conference realignment will happen, but what may trigger who goes where will largely depend upon who the Big 10 raids. If they do hit the Big 12 and get Missouri and Nebraska, you could see the Big 12 start to disintegrate. I don't see the Big East falling a part like that.

    ReplyDelete
  98. MSNBC is about to cover a news conference on the oil spill. Wouldn't it be great to see BP come out and say "Oops, my bad. Sorry about that".

    ReplyDelete
  99. Hoopie: I saw no brilliance in Seinfeld. I understand your feelings about LOST.

It was my favorite show ever and I got a whole lot out of the final episode. My night was a 10 out of 10!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Why is everyone so quick to blame BP? It's not their rig, they lease it. If you rented a car from Hertz and the brakes failed and caused a mess...who would you want to be held responsible?

I'm not saying BP isn't partly accountable, but it's not totally their fault either.

    ReplyDelete
  101. re: Oil Spill

Isn't it nice that now the government and BP are summoning some of our country's top scientists to help develop containment strategies.

It's only been, what, 33 days?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Ah, we just had out first comments. Some lady walked to the mircophone and said "Check one, two, three. Check one, two, three. Check check check". Hmmm, maybe Michael can decipher that strange code.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Jay, it is kind of funny. Before this, a lot of politicians were in favor of more drilling, including Schwartzenagger and Obama, but the story, she is a changing.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Sienfeld brought us shrinkage, festivus, the bro, not that there is anything wrong with that, sex to save the friendship, and many more innovations. What did LOST bring us?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Yeah, well, the jerk store called, they're running out of you.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Seinfeld was always just ok to me, some were better than others.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Seinfeld is one of those shows I wasn't initially into. It kind of grew on me. At first I didn't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  108. As I said earlier regarding Lost, I was utterly and completely satisfied with the finale. More than that, I was just blown away by the storytelling and the epic scope of the thing. The best two and a half hours of tv I've seen.

But as I also said earlier, to each his own. I don't need other's validation and vice versa. I enjoyed it. Hopefully other Lost fans did as well. If not, that's fine too.

    ReplyDelete
  109. E-Bro....LOST sucks.

  112. yes we will. yes we will.

speaking of CHUCK, big episode tonite.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Word. A two hour season finale following a 2.5 hour series finale from the previous night is hard for me to digest (she said that).

Might be a day or two before I'm able to knock it out due to conflicting circumstances. Should be good, though.

    ReplyDelete
  114. E-Bro ...

You obviously haven't seen the 2.5 hour replay of the 2005 smackdown of UAT.

Best 2.5 hours of TV you've ever seen?

    What an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Not to be an alarmist, but I thought I'd heard that CHUCK was poor in the ratings and may not be back in '10. I don't watch it so I don't know.

    ReplyDelete
  116. For those interested...
Wednesday's 9:30am pitching matchup: So. LHP Cory Luckie (6-3, 6.17) vs. Jr. RHP Jimmy Nelson (7-2, 4.05)
With UAT throwing a righty, that means Kevin Patterson will be in the lineup.

    ReplyDelete

  120. Anonymous12:21 PM

JGT ..I wasn't trying to hate.

Lotsa folks liked LOST and I wanted to. I love the premise of the show. Just couldn't get it to work for me. Similarly, I've been watching "V" and probably won't be able to hang with it either.

I suppose my problem is that when watching a drama, I'm critical about plot busts and details to support/prove the drama. These new popular type dramas (LOST, 24, V) use a constantly changing, fragmented storyline to hold viewer interest at the expense of details to support the story. Kinda like looking over someone's shoulder to keep up with a video game.

Conversely, I watch a few sitcoms and only expect mindless laughs(pretty shallow). Tight writing is a bonus and laff tracks suck.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Lost was (weird using the past tense now) full of details. It's just that, compared to other shows, it asked you to dig a lot deeper to extrapulate the richness in them.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Anonymous12:39 PM

I loved the 1st two seasons of Lost then they got off course (I don't think they thought it through from the beginning to end). I was a great show overall, but this last season was disappointing to me.

Chuck is awesome and they better not ever cancel it. I still have to watch last weeks. Tonight is the season finally? 2hrs?

    ReplyDelete

  126. Just heard a discussion on Lost on NPR...had no idea it was so rooted in phild reading the greats help in the understanding of the show...I might start it now that it's gone. Thank you, Netflix, for making that possible.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Peter...I know the first few seasons (at least, maybe all of them except for this season) are available on netflix watch instantly. Lost was very thematic and often took its cues from several different literary works (often per episode). If you like shows like that, you'll like Lost. Not that you had to read to understand what was going on, but it enhanced the experience if you knew something about the subject material.

    Futurama's cool too.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I didn't realize Futurama was back. Consider my day made.

Considering adding 15 min to the Wed am drive to the Ham and take some state highways through rural Alabama from Piedmont,Al down to Pell City. Said route will provide a large exposure to Bammers and fuel pre-Hate for the game.

    ReplyDelete
  142. There is another show that I have seen recently that turned out to be good, but I had never watched it because of the name. It is called "The Marriage Ref". My mom visited recently and suggested watching it, and it is much more entertaining than the name implies and isn't confrontational, just funny. The things they discuss are minor issues. I can see them discussing whether it is okay to leave the seat up. Check it out sometime. I think Seinfeld has something to do with creating that show.

    ReplyDelete
  143. As for bringing on the hate of the dark side, just watch a few episode of Springer or one of these Judge such and such shows should do it. Every time one of these comes on, it reminds me of the mullet nation.

I tried to watch this, but it seems dumb, not in HD, and I can't understand what these Telemundo announcers are saying.

  154. SFC,
I would be complaining too if not for being at home with a five year old brother.

  155. The marine biologist is one of my favorite episodes.

I have the first five seasons on div-d, and watched the Cigar Store Indian and The Barber last night.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

  156. Apparently the RRod is in deep dodo. It looks like the Michigan football team will undergo major NCAA sanctions for the first time ever. Additionally, they are classified as repeat offenders because of a basketball violation. This should get very interesting. They are expecting an NCAA ruling in the middle of the season.

So, will RRod be fired in the middle of the season or at the end? Is there any person that has screwed his career more than RRod? Somehow I don't think West Virginia will be wanting him back.

I will be sitting in the Air Force Academy football stadium during the AU- AL game. Hoping my son can get updates on his phone. Someone please post updates on HABOTN so I can keep up.

  159. What do you do if your an oil company tied to the oil spill? Well, you offer a special $1B dividend to investors.

Elect me your president and I will order that each of the oil executives associated with this disaster is hit in the head once a day with a giant rubber hammer until the spill is stopped. Vote SteveFC.

Cincy ..my guess is that in the midst of the +/- 400 emotional comments during the IB, a few will be updates.

    hell=hot

    Chick-fil-a=Christian chicken

A spicy chicken sandwich at Chick-fil-a just doesn't seem right.

  168. Wake,

    That's just strange.

I've been putting hot sauce on my chicken sandwiches for years. I've already had the spicy sandwich and it's awesome. Glad it's becoming a menu fixture.

  169. I was just trying to find a rationalization for why I won't be eating a free spicy chicken sandwich.

The truth is I'm a huge wimp when it comes to spicy food.

  170. I'm a hot sauce freak. This is the best news I've had since I heard Futurama was coming back.

  171. The NFL is considering having the Super Bowl in an outdoor stadium in 2014. Can you imagine the Super Bowl during a rain storm? It would definitely change the atmosphere. Of course, maybe Janet Jackson would dress better.

    ReplyDelete
  172. The Superbowl is usually outside, but now they are thinking of having it in a COLD WEATHER outdoor stadium. A superbowl in New Jersey is the worst idea ever.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I was about to say, plenty of Super Bowls are played outdoors. New Jersey is a terrible idea. The game will still be success but the peeps in attendance will be miserable.

  175. PF, email me the link for the free spicy chicken sammich. Please sir.

I will be working, outdoors, in the heat, probably in the middle of BFE with no cell service on Wednesday. I'm not a happy camper. I don't know how I'm going to keep up with the game.

  176. Aubie, I have seen a lot of his stuff too, and he does seem very childish, but that is kids these days. Part of going to college is growing up. I must admit though, some of his comments are so poorly worded I can see how he would have problems in college.

  178. Miller, Will there be someone inside nearby that can yell you score updates with a bullhorn? I'd be happy to call their landline and provide them with scores to yell to you.

Miller ...you can get a satellite phone for HABOTN updates. It's costly tho. XM-Sirius may give score updates. I know these things b/c I get stuck in BFE regularly.
