  1. nice start for the good guys.

i didn't get to make it to the game last nite. we had 3-hour marathon supper/banquet thing that trumped it. it was fun, though. too bad i couldn't stay today. just got back to knoxville.

  2. Gotta love spotting your pitcher a 5 run lead in the first. Let's hope he doesn't need it.

  26. Good Saturday evening to all.

    Congrats Taylor!

    Congrats Auburn!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I am worn out. Trimmed the bushes, planted some bushes and put out 1.5 yards of mulch today. I need a beer and a bath.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Congrats on all you accomplished CH=B.
I was equally productive today, avoiding yard work, thus maintaining equilibrium in our universe.-------

all those hyphens don't mean anything. I was just scraping some dried dough off that key.

    ReplyDelete
  29. was it cookie dough?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Wow..that was fun!!! It was worth the sunburn and I definitely need a bath! It's great to be an Auburn Tiger!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. How was the crowed today? On the radio it sounded loud.

WTC, I saw that Chizik and some signees from last year and Frazier were at the game. Any idea how Frazier enjoyed his visit?

    ReplyDelete
  32. The crowd at my hizzle was great. Thanks for asking.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Great...just freaking great. I noticed it was hot in the house and the air was running. Went outside and the unit is frozen. Any A/C repair hotties?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Cleaned up now and out to celebrate MiniWeg's b'day (really tomorrow!). Hibachi in the east montgumphery....good and hungry.
Sorry, I didn't look for the VIPs just enjoyed being in the sun!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love HIBACHI grill! Yums.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The good guys opened up a 55 gallon drum of substance today.

The braves are doing the exact opposite of that tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Japanese hibachi is top notch. Top notch!

Let's go get the series win tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Amazing win. Good to see Cole throw some solid stuff too.

Jay G, I'm one of Hibachi's biggest fans. I go there at least once a week. The chicken bowl with an eggroll is a solid choice.

    ReplyDelete
  39. CH=B - nope. Biscuit dough. I made some seriously good biscuits this morning for breakfast. But speaking of cookie dough, that reminds me that I need my bowl of ice cream.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Your future QB was at the game today. Mom says she smells a commitment coming real soon. CHB-does that answer your question?
Frazier was next to Brandon Moseley. BMoseley is @ 6'5". Frazier was eyeball to eyeball with him. He has to go about 230lbs also.
My friends were asking who the linebacker was with them. they couldn't figure out who it was. it was Dyer. Dude is stacked with muscle and looks hard as a brick.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm not sure I get eat a bowl of ice cream before it melted in this oven that I call my living room.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Frazier and Dyer were all over Malzahn today. I believe they have a very good relationship.

    ReplyDelete
  43. for those that believe Malzahn may leave within a few years and are concerned about who will replace him, keep an eye on the Tulsa OC.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have it on good authority...

    SNORT!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Tulsa has two offensive coordinators PLUS a passing game coordinator.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Mrs. Jet and Stewardess are out of town, so I had to cook for ElTurbo and 1/3 (ElTurbo's GF, who is one of a set of triplets).

The burgers came out a juicy medium. The chocolate chip cookies I made earlier were the perfect balance of crunchy/chewy.

TV is weak tonight ... May have to watch an old game from the DVR.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Jet- I have a Murano you can rent if you need it until Mrs. Jet brings your testosterone back.

    ReplyDelete
  48. WTC, good call on the Tulsa OC.

Your comment and WTC's remind me of the commercial a couple of years ago. A guy pulls up to the gas pump in a mini van. Another guy is there on a motorcycle. The guy in the mini van says he was going to buy one but it came down to bike or dinner set.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm watching recorded episodes of that new "Weird or What" show. It's pretty good if your into Discovery Channel shows.

    ReplyDelete
  50. woot! post-season baseball.

    ReplyDelete
  51. WTC ... I'm fine ... but you need to try to get some sleep instead of stay up all night to wait for the Advertiser's "Rooms To Go" ad in the paper. They've got some good deals on sofas.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Sorry if already posted ... but ...

There's a three-way tie for first in the SEC west -- Ole Miss, Hogs and AU.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Jet-Wife was talking today about needing a new sofa for the house. I told her why buy a new one when we can get the old upholstered for about $800-$900.

    ReplyDelete
  54. WTC ... you're in trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Just go to Auburn right now. I'm sure there is some furniture on the side of the road since a lot of kids gradulated and moved out.

    ReplyDelete
  56. CHB-long but funny story tied to the sofa thing. Jet likes to remind me of it often. I bought a sofa for my daughter last year to go in her apartment at AU, for $50. Wife gave it to a guy to upholster and fix it up. He brought it back with a tab of $850.00. I told him to take it back, he could have it. He wouldn't take it. My daughter has it in her apartment now.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anonymous9:53 PM

Taylor ..congrats. Sounds like you two are on the same spiritual page and that is a great start.

AU Baseball ...18 runs and a complete game shutout!!! WOOT!!!

WTC ..I also got suckered into a re-upholster cost scam years ago. Don't let Jet bust you too much, cause it happens more often than most realize. Oh yeah ..let me guess ..the wife and daughter loved it soooooo much that they had to have it and you lost all ability to negotiate with the dude.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I can see why Jet messes with you. I would have been highly ticked off.

Well it's official my A/C is shot. Have to get it replaced. Just what I wanted to do. There go the hardwood floors and the addition to the deck.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Rats, I missed all the fun today.

Well...I went to the beach so maybe not ALL the fun.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Morning Hotties

ch=b - my house has 2 AC and 2 furnace units. In the span of 1.5 years, I've had to replace all 4. I was fortunate enough to get to replace both furnaces within a 3 month period. Last fall was ridiculous in our house.

    ReplyDelete
  61. My parents had the two most comfortable chairs in the entire world. Since they were so comfortable they decided to get them reupholstered instead of buying new ones, and paid a fortune to have it done. The guy decided they cushions were worn out and put new ones in them. They now possess the two must uncomfortable chairs you can imagine.

Bed time, just got home and gotta be back at work in 9 hours.

  62. Hoopie ... sorry it's in my job description.

    Roles and Responsibilities #3

    ReplyDelete
  63. The kid from Arkansas is a Malzahn deal.

Kid may commit. He ain't signing unless Malzahn is employed at Auburn on NSD. Book it.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Helllo, coffin stuffers.

My engagement was awesome and sucked at the same time. The logistics were impossible to plan like I like to plan. It worked out almost like I wanted it though. I have the dvd from ESPN.

    ReplyDelete
  65. So JGT says no Gus, no Frazier. I hope we have both next year.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Dreaded house blues. Oh it's great to own your on home untill... a piece of ceiling 4 ft by 6 ft falls in and you need a new roof. The bigger the house the better, my is 2600 sq. ft on one floor. Roofer says you got storm damage and Tues of last the Insurance adjuster says nope you gotta pay. So now I am waiting on quote for roof and ceiling repair. My guess ...over 7 grand.

    ReplyDelete
  67. it's almost batter up time.

    GO TIGERS!!!
    WARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. game starts identical to yesterday, fradejas single, mummey 2-run shot, 2-0 Tigers

    ReplyDelete
  69. now I'm headed to join the fun at the park, enjoy your afternoon hotties

    ReplyDelete
  70. Mummey hits his second home run of the game, and with some earlier hunts and bunts, makes it 7-1 Auburn. Bottom 4. 2 outs.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Fletch K's to end it. On to 5.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I don't who Tennessee's baseball coach is, but I'm gonna guess his name is Freak N. Moron.

Trent Mummey hit 2 homers yesterday and drove in 7. Today, he hit a 2-run homer in the first. So with two out, runner on 2nd in the 4th inning, if I were the UT coach, I think I'd be making he didn't do anymore damage -- even if it meant facing Jenkins.

They pitched to Mummey. Another two-run HR ... 7-1 Auburn after 4.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Bad decision from UT.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Big times at Auburn right now.

We have a baseball team on the upswing, looks like we have some hope for men's basketball right now and football is on the upswing.

Maybe Jay Jacobs isn't so bad.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Speak for yourself.

    Well, OK, you did.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Surely that wasn't JGT at the airport in Dec '08.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Lolz. Morris dings a solo shot. TC hbp, a McElroy double sees him thrown out at second, but TC scores. Odd play from the workings of the internets, but its still 9-2 Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  78. You know who likes baseball, besides PF?

    ReplyDelete
  79. BEASLEY!!! loves AU Baseball!

well, I tried to tell you

    ReplyDelete
  80. RK ... it's all about pulling in the same direction.

I won't re-plow old ground, but whatever it cost to pay Tommy may very well end up being a bargain if it helps usher in an era of success in multiple sports.

    ReplyDelete
  81. blogger showed 86 posts after my interrogative post.

Looks like we've opened up a large can today instead of a 40 gallon barrel.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Jenkins K's. Gamache walks, steals second, Hargs singles but Gamache thrown out at home.

    Top 6, 9-2 Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  83. By the way, Tim Hudson with two hits today as the Braves lead 9-1

    ReplyDelete
  84. Jet,

    I'm with you on that.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Nothin the rest of the way, AU wins 9-2.

Currently in sole possession of first in the West. Regardless of Arkansas' finish, we break the tie with them, but if Ole Miss loses we'll be alone out front.

JJ is looking brilliant right now. If he was a publicly traded stock, I would've bought at the end of last football season, but now it looks like 3rd Quarter revenues are about to hit the roof and keep shooting upwards.

There can't possibly be any true Auburn fan who isn't thrilled about potential near future. Including Michael. Even Jet is excited.

    ReplyDelete
  86. you know you can order the leprechaun t-shirt online?
my bro in law had one on at st. paddy's the other year.

    pot o gold!

    ReplyDelete
  87. I do believe Jacobs has done a good job, regardless of what ignorant rednecks screaming at airports may say.

    ReplyDelete
  88. So one of Jacobs's hires a football coach who recruits well and has one season that would'e been considered okay, but mediocre a couple of years ago, a basketball coach who hasn't coached a game, and Paws, and suddenly the people who were asking for his head are proclaiming him a god. Buncha bandwagoneers. Jacobs sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  89. ...or something. Dang mobile editing.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I've never asked for JJ's head because I'm too ignorant to know if he stinks or if he's the best AD in the conference, or perhaps somewhere in between. The Tar Heel in me would have hired Lebo, too. I'm glad we have Barbee now.

I am pleased with the current state of affairs.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Well, PF, you can look at it that way if you take the glass is full of urine approach.

It's pretty simple. Ask this question: is Auburn athletics better off today than it was two years ago?

We're trending in the right direction. The AD has put the right people in the right places.

    ReplyDelete
  92. And that's all he's got to say about that.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Arky loses and Ole Miss loses today. Au in first place
Big weekend series against Ole Miss coming up.

win 2 out of 3 and AU should have the West title. If Arky sweeps their series, they would tie ( I think) in the W-L column) but AU holds the tie breaker.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Quick check in to say hello. Tylerson is all moved in and unpacked. Tomorrow we go shopping for some furniture and hopefully lunch with Kathy. (Kathy, you have a voice mail. Call me if you can.) We are at a friend's for dinner so I have two minutes of computer time. Don't have internet hooked up at the apartment yet.

Love the baseball games the last couple of days. Too bad we chose the Friday night game :)

Have a great night. I'll get back when I can. I miss y'all!

Talking to one of my sons friends grandmother, she commented that another grandchild never fit in at Tuscaloser, my son said "duh, it's Alabama". I was so proud!!!

  97. Congrats Jay4AU!

    You've obviously raised him right.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Thanks, E-Bro. I did have a lapse in judgement though...I married an infidel. Working on resolving that problem however. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  99. Congrats Jay4! I know you are very proud of your son.

I also married an infidel. I just leave him at home on weekends!

It was a great weekend for Auburn baseball.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Have I missed post from Luv or IV, or are they MIA?

    ReplyDelete
  101. I'm proud to say that I've never called for Jacobs' head.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Kathy...I've wondered the same thing about IV, though I haven't noticed Luv's absence

    ReplyDelete
  103. Morning Hotties

Jay4 - my daughter graduates hs 5/28. Good times.

Kathy - I seem to recall a post or two about Luv indicating that her employer had cracked down considerably on Internet usage which I guess is explanation for her absence. IV? Not sure. Last I recall seeing him was at least a couple of weeks ago and that was just a very brief single-post appearance.

    Keep Hate Alive!

  104. Football related topic for the day:

What about our secondary? I didn't think our pass defense was very good to begin with last year (and part of the issue was the LB's as well as the DB's), but what about this year.

McFadden is gone. Neiko still looks like he's SEC calibre, but it's time to come of age. Our Freshman All-SEC FS is now playing LB. Demond will move back to corner, but otherwise we're counting on three formerly severely injured guys (Etheridge, Saivage, and McNeil) and some other unproven ones to step up.

Looking at our defense, this potentially looks like the weakest unit, or potentially the strongest of the guys are healthy and playing 100% to their capabilities.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Congratulations to all the Hotties who have graduates this year!

    Blessings on Taylor and Lindsay!

    And War Eagle, Baseball!

    Exciting times!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Rk,

Happiness,too....okay, so the people who were yelling about Jacobs not too long ago are silent, but I don't remember a lot of defending him going on. Just seems curious to m, and best presented in a glass full of urine sort of way. I'm happy for trending, and thrilled for Paws.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Softball team in the big show...one of seven SEC teams to make the NCAA (five hosting, including #1 seed gaytors). Will faceoff against Oregon in Atlanta to start off.

  110. Monday morning geek out:

Love Skyfire for bringing a solid browser with [fake] flash to my phone. Typing is a little slow in it but otherwise it's awesome. Love watching videos and toggling between mobile and full sites with the touch of a button. I can't wait for the full version.

  111. Kind of gray in Spring City, TN.

My bed is awfully appealing right now.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Hey Pete, you have the Droid right?

    ReplyDelete
  113. E-bro,

The defense as a whole is still troubling for me. Not a lot of tested depth anywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Ah, lovely Spring City.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Yeah, up around your old stomping grounds, RK. Woman next to me had her grandaughter graduate from Rhea County High School on Friday.

The defense as a whole still worries me as well, but while the depth of the front seven still troubles me, the secondary just troubles me, period. I feel like it's a lot to expect the injured guys to just fit seamlessly back into the rotation. Maybe they feel really good about the younger guys.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I think the defense will be a bit better than last year. Just a bit, though.

    ReplyDelete
  117. as long as the offense is scoring 45-48 points a game the defense should be ok, right? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  118. scottie...totally should be alright.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Like I said, we're gonna win 'em all.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Seanzie,

Have an Android phone (which finally updated to v2.1!!!!, but not the Droid (unless that's become a generic name, in which case, the answer is Yes).

    ReplyDelete
  121. Raining in Jacksonviille. I wish sleeping could win out of house hunting in the rain, but the dang time cruch won't allow it.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Ah, gotcha. I have the Droid specifically. I was just curious if I could take advantage of the same tech.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Scottie,

If we average 45 points per game, I won't worry much about our D.

I'm just looking for a much improved offense vs the SEC. Last year we lit up the non-conference teams, but struggled in SEC games at times especially after the defenses adjusted around the middle of the 2nd quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Anonymous8:56 AM

Jet is right about pulling in the same direction. Once xCTT was gone and the deal was done, the anti-PTB folks starting cautiously joining in.

The 2 primary issues with JJ were: the perception that he was a puppet and inexperience.

The Colonial collapse has hastened the "joining in" b/c while there may still be some leftover PTB influence, the power(money) is greatly diminished/diluted and reduced the chance for puppetry (apologies to Michael). Has anyone noticed that AU hasn't collapsed without Lowder's money? That's because folks that were previously on the sidelines are stepping in.

While all of this has been going on, JJ has been gathering experience. Heck, he even hired Barbee without using a search firm.

    ReplyDelete
  125. SOCCER

    Seanzie,

Search for Skyfire in the Market. It's a free browser (currently in Beta) that should work on all Android devices...if you want to really install fllash, though, you can do that, but. You have to root your phone first.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I will admit I was one of the fans that came down hard on Jacobs after his hire of Chizik and wanted him fired.
But I will admit I was wrong and think he has proven to be a good AD with all of his hires.
Is he the greatest I don't know. Time will tell how he will be judged overall as an AD. I like what I have seen so far.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Peter...I'll not stand for you mislabeling a geek post as a soccer one.

    For shame, for shame.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I think Hoopie nailed it. I knew JJ a little bit while I was at Auburn. Always struck me as a good guy; an Auburn Man to the core.

I had no issues with him, but rather, I just wondered how much power he actually wielded.

But if someone wants to lump me in as a hypocrite, so be it. It's human nature question things. And yes, it's a bit early to say "we're back", but the upward trend is no less pleasing.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I love how quick people were to come down hard on Jacobs but are now so reluctant to actually come out say this guy is doing a great job. A lesson learned or merely human nature?

    ReplyDelete
  130. One of my first projects out of school was the installation of a cell phone tower in Spring City, TN.

    You're welcome E-Bro.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Hmmm I just got a severe craving for Mama G's nachos. Unfortunately I do not have a 5 hour lunch break.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Sean...don't know if that comment is intended for me, but if you search through official HABOTN records, I think you'll find I didn't come down hard on Jacobs.

And reason is the only thing keeping me from saying he's doing a great job. He certainly seems to be thus far and I'm as excited as anybody about the direction of Auburn athletics.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Muchas gracias, ehyou.

Knowing that Spring City is not surrounded by much but endless countryside, I imagine the place was in dire need of a few cell phone towers.

    ReplyDelete
  134. E-Bro, it wasn't for you. I was speaking in generalities. Referring more to my idiot friends who threw themselves into the abyss sometime around the end of 2008.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I'll admit, I've been critical of Jacobs over the years. I've called him a figurehead. He may still be, however from an outsiders view he seems to have the department in good shape for the future, so I'll gladly admit I might have been wrong about his qualifications. Time will tell.

Right now things are looking up.

  141. it jj can maintain and build on the current momentum and keep the coaches if they win big, bigger and biggest, he will go down as the one of the great ad's in AU history. if he lets them get away, goat. until chizco proved what it is capable of and barbee as already done more than lebo did in six years, jj looked like a clown. i have enough rubber noses and rainbow wigs for everyone who doubted...you get used to wearing them.

  142. frame- the naked pig pale ale is pretty solid. Haven't had the other yet

  144. I hit up the Sweetwater Brewery this weekend. Nothing new for me really but the glass and 6 pint tickets for 8 bucks is a great deal.

  145. Harrison, glad to hear it. More local beers in Alabama is a good thing.

Chip's 9:34am post caused a "coffee through the nose" moment. Now ..where's that napkin?

Ebro, RK ...seems we're about where most other AU fans are regarding JJ.

Puppetry issues aside, the displeasure over the JJ and Chizik hires were similar in that the AU fans wanted a proven commodity.

Compare to what we've been through, it's nice to be cautiously optimistic.

Seanzie ...seems that you are either being called an idiot or accusing your friends of being idiots. It's good to see that your self-esteem is solid and you can handle all sides of that. Now ..if you can only learn how to keep out of Jet's Tool shed.

  147. Chip^2,

No word on Mummey's hr count for Monday morning....has anyoneever missed so many games and immediately and consistently returned to being such a huge force on a team before? Kid missed half the season, and never missed a beat in the field or at the plate. He's amazing.

  148. I hope everyone is pulling for Hunter Morris to average a ding dong per game to end the season and break AU's single season HR record (22). He sits at 19.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Appropriate use of "ding dong"?

I'm definitely gettin' old and enjoy consistency in my life. I've tried many different cigars, scotch, beers and women ...and for years always cherished something new. I'm happy to say that I've found the best one of each for me and care not to deviate. Without further adieu:

Ms. Hoopie (she actually picked me)
    Don Diego cigars
    Johnny Walker Black
    Bud Select/Yuengling Lager
    Ping golf clubs
    Shimano Fishing Reels

  152. hoopie- decent enough list, but your beer selection is way off the mark... bud select?

  156. I'd like to think it's my clubs that make me so bad. They don't allow me to fully unleash my limitless golfing potential.

That list is acceptable, but boring. I guess that's kind of what you are going for, though.

  159. Kathy,

Are you telling mle that our write in campaign failed?

  160. Had a great time at the Braves game yesterday...fantastic weather, Hudson pitching, Bravos bats on fire...what's not to like? I mean, besides the beer prices.

    Speaking of beer:

Frame, Naked Pig Pale Ale is quite good, but you have to like a very hoppy brew.

Hoopie, you need to expand your beer horizons.

Harrison, I bought a few good beers at Green's while in ATL. When I remember the name of the best one, I'll post it.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Harrison, I remembered...it's Gordon Ale from Oskar Blues Brewery.

    ReplyDelete
  162. yeah, do that. I will be in Columbus saturday and they have a great beer/wine shop and i will def. pick out a few

    ReplyDelete
  163. I like beer. Especially if one of you buys me one or two.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I have heard of oskar blues, not sure if i've ever had any. Will look for it sat.

  165. If someone buys me a beer or invites me over for french toast caserole, I'll always hold a special place in my heart for them, will always be nice, and will neversay anything bad about them behind their back....except the wife's uncle. That guy has bought a ton of nice stuff for me/us, and I stll think he's a creep.

  166. 16 now in baseball america poll.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Peter...would you like to come over for some french toast caserole I'm doing on Sunday night? Or how bout a beer?

Now stop calling me a ninny...you ninny.

    ReplyDelete
  168. E-bro,

French toast casrole and a beer sound great. Get the recipe from Cincy (for te french toast, I doubt she knows much about beer)...that's a huge step to unninnydom. Congrats.

  169. I was just going to see if I could get it from Casa Rolls.

  176. ESPN's Outside the Lines will be discussing William Wesley, aka World Wide Wes, during today's show.

He's of national interest because of his connection to both LeBron James and John Calipari.

Wesley and Tony Barbee also are close friends.

  182. World Wide Wes crooked? Well, yeah, he's crooked. So what.

He's had scoliosis since he was a child because his spine was shaped like a question mark.

SC ..I agree that the beers are boring, but I basically don't like all those new beers with the heavy Hops. I just gave away a 12 pack of Sam Adams that someone left in the man fridge.

PF ..considering my history, boring is now a good thing. Buchanans (blended) or Glenmorangie(single malt) have been nice diversions in the past. Cuban cigars are generally too robust. Partagas or Romeo y Julietta would be the fav Cuban. Cohibas ...over-rated.

Ping eye2s? ....Yup! Square grooves for a square guy ...and since I don't play tourneys, I got no problem with that.
