Other news from Big Cat Weekend

Hey everyone. So the big news today was Kiehl Frazier's commitment, but several other big-name prospects spent time at Auburn this weekend.

Here's a glimpse:

*Leeds High standout Jonathan Rose sounds like a commitment to me. He's already recruiting guys to play ball at Auburn ... though Rose isn't yet committed himself. I expect to see that happen during the next few weeks.

Rose said this weekend gave him a new perspective on the program.

``I was bonding more with other players than just coaches this time. I got to meet new guys -- hopefully potential teammates. I'm glad to be able to meet these other hot prospects. I was just glad to have the bonding experience."

*Keymiya Harrell of Dallas County High seems pretty high on Auburn. He's a tall DE in the Antoine Carter mold. Harrell said it's between the Tigers and Tennessee right now. The Auburn coaches made a special stop during their caravan in Plantersville to see Harrell. That tells me he's high on their list.

*Rush Propst, the former Hoover coach, brought one of his players to the event. His name is Xzavier Ward. They're from Colquitt County (Ga.) High. Ward looks like a wideout to me. He's 6-foot-7. Auburn wants him as an offensive tackle. He has one year of starting experience under his belt. Georgia is all over this kid. So are other programs.

Ward said he's not expecting to make a decision until Colquitt's season ends. He has 16 offers. Propst said Ward has it narrowed down to 10 and Auburn is in the mix. That's as deep as it gets with those two.

*Javorius "Buck" Allen is a tailback from Tallahassee, Fla. He plays at Lincoln High, which produced a pair of Auburn scholarship guys in LB Craig Stevens and S Mike Slade. Allen, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 200, missed most of last season with a broken femur. He is in no hurry to make a decision. ``It'll be close to signing day. I want to focus on my season, my senior year, and not recruiting."

*Pat Milliner is a wideout/tailback from Stanhope Elmore High. His brother, Demarcus, signed with Alabama as a defensive back earlier this year. Pat said he expects to play wideout in college and insists that his brother's decision has no bearing on his own. "I'll go to the school that's best for me," he said.

  2. So, I guess the whole "Auburn can't recruit big time quarterbacks" is kinda out the window at this point.

  5. Frazier, as far as I can tell, is one of the nation's top 3 HS quarterbacks.

I mean, he has offers from Florida, LSU, Miami and Notre Dame.

  6. Hey, I've heard of some of those schools.

    Jay,
Thanks for all the good stuff on these guys. And thanks a bunch for keeping me up to date with the baseball team while I was away. Made me feel like I was in the loop just a little.

  15. Homer - I'd tend to agree but there are some compelling arguments to be made for it. One big one hasn't yet been brought up by Hot Wife but I have absolutely no doubt that it will.

  16. I am reading some of the comments from Arkansas fans on Facebook. The one that caught my eye was one that said "Why would he do that when Arkansas has offered"?

I am not friends with the person so I couldn't respond, but my answer would be that it is the same reason Lee Ziemba, Kodi Burns, and Michael Dyer are at Auburn, to name a few.

I confess. I ditched church today to take a bike ride along the river. It was beautiful but I got back just as the heat was setting in. I came back a different route to avoid the 20,000 motorcycles warming up in the Pentagon lot for Rolling Thunder.

Great news on Frazier. We need 1 or 2 good QBs a year to maintain depth.

    Time for shower and breakfast.

  24. i'm glad to see AU taking qbs with other meaningful offers. not that you can't steal a gem from uab, troy, mtsu but it just means more big time programs will have be wrong for him to be a bust. i don't think the odds are very high AU has two highly rated qbs from ar in row bust at qb.

any word on the uzumah kid out of ga? i heard he was a potential qb recruit but had the ability to play safety or wr.

  25. AU can't recruit big time qbs, but gus can! wink!

  27. NoVa - I too must confess, I skipped out on my regular church today since Hot Wife and F4* are in Alabama and our regular church didn't expect to see us, I visited a different church.

Now, let's see if WTC's mom is right and we get even more commitments from BCW.

This must be the day for backsliding - I skipped church also. But, I SLEPT! I didn't get out of bed until 10 am. I haven't done that in years!!! I just kept dozing back to sleep. It was wonderful, I was exhausted from our whirlwind trip to Colorado. In fact, all of May was a sprint. I am looking forward to a relaxed June.

  29. cincy - No backsliding here. I just went to a different church than my regular one. Glad you had a good trip. I'd like to see more of Colorado than the inside of an airport terminal one day.

  30. Hey, here's a really bad movie for you in case you're interested - Land of the Lost. It stinks.

Norm, I am a backslider. I can't remember the last time I missed church to sleep!

Colorado is beautiful. The Air Force graduation is just amazing. If anyone has the chance to attend, I highly recommend it.

  32. I'm doing my part to help MrsTHT make her delicious chocolate chip cookies... I'm licking the beaters clean. Maybe I can convince her to make a huge batch for next year's BCW. We'll have commitments running out our ears!

Kiehl signs with Gus. I hope we have Gus in 2011.

Okay, for you Montgomery residents. Daughter, her hubby and three pups need place to rent in Montgomery beginning mid-August for 1 year; 3 bedroom & fenced backyard are musts.

Really want in Cloverdale/Old Cloverdale area. Son-in-law will be clerking for Judge Dubina at courthouse downtown. Not opposed to Capitol Heights.

Anyone have suggestions? Or best place to call to find such?
