Hey everyone. Auburn's baseball game against a college team from Mississippi has been delayed due to rain, wind, lightning, etc.
It's sunny where you are? I was thinking the same thing. It was cloudless in Montgomery this afternoon, where I dined with
Norm and
Le Zookeeper.
The tarp is
OFF the field.
The game is scheduled to begin at 4:55 p.m. CDT.
Anyway, here's proof:
I caught a bolt on film. Yay me.
Auburn played host to a Little League team during the rain delay. I thought that was nice. Those kids walked away with a lot of autographed baseballs.
Water has pooled throughout the outfield. I think 3:40 p.m. is an ambitious estimation.
Friend of the Blog® Todd Dewey of ABC 33/40 fame begins the process of evacuating water from his video perch high above the field.
Tarp comes off.
It's wet. This is just beyond first base in shallow right field.
The mound needed serious help.
No matter how far away, no matter the stakes, there always is at least one Alabama fan at every major Auburn event doing their best to ... represent? Here's a great example. Standing out in the rain to make it work!
substance
ReplyDeleteno. way.
ReplyDeleteMy son in Vestavia just told me that it's not raining there. Strange.
ReplyDeleteok. seriously. If I knew I was the only one on the intertubes I would have come up with something more creative (and substantive) than "substance"... like...
ReplyDeleterain delay substance, or
hating mississippi substance, or
I'm the only one on the intertubes substance.
Present
ReplyDeleteand on that note, I'll be leaving the office to begin my long weekend... which it appears almost everyone else has already done.
ReplyDeleteWish me luck - I will be conducting Jedi Training for a small army of 7 year old jedi-knight-wannabes for my #1 son's birthday tomorrow. Do or do not - there is no try.
Very unsubstantial first post lowcountry.
ReplyDeleteWay to go LT!
ReplyDeleteFox Sports South is live streaming now that's how I found out about the delay.
Looking at the map it's a small thunderstorm right over Hoover
shamelessly reposted, since you may need some reading material during the rain delay...
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Gary Coleman always reminds me of Jerry Coleman, the baseball broadcaster with all the classic mis-speaks
Have fun training your younglings!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Regions Park has no drainage system... at all
ReplyDeleteSometimes, you win. Sometimes, you lose. Sometimes, it rains.
ReplyDeleteLowcountry meant to say, "Liquid substance."
ReplyDeleteThe grounds crew is using a leafblower to extricate the water.
ReplyDeleteI love the jet trucks that dry off racecar tracks.
ReplyDeleteVirgina Tech has its version of the 1970-80s Astros' rainbow stripes uniform.
ReplyDeleteSweet.
Jet has a truck.
ReplyDelete40 minutes to start says twitter
ReplyDeleteCroom A Coochie is a real place. There used to be a Cowbells general store there. It's for lease now. US 301 is my new favorite road.
ReplyDeleteJust don't get the Bammer mentality....I am not interested in watching a bama game much less wearing my AU gear to do it.
ReplyDeleteGame time allegedly is 4 p.m.
ReplyDeleteHowever, there is lightning all over this area. Officials won't begin until 30 minutes after the lightning stops.
More lightning strikes in progress.
ReplyDeletePF, are you sure that isn't Groom A Coochie?
ReplyDeletePF, I've been through Croom a Coochie.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the Withlacoochie river.
If you took 301 you just missed the best bbq in Fl.
And it's "Lightnin' Lou Christie" on Jet Radio ...
ReplyDeleteWhen I see lips beggin' to be kissed (stop)
I can't stop (stop)
I can't stop myself
(Stop, stop)
Lightning is striking again
Lightning is striking again
And again and again and again
Tarp is back on the field.
ReplyDeleteHey Jet, there's a feller in there that'll pay you ten dollars if you sing into his can
ReplyDeleteThis works out well. I think I've got time to make it home before the game starts.
ReplyDeleteLater
Les Tigres just came on the radio on 950 .....so they were right
ReplyDeleteLightning still going strong.
ReplyDeleteI added a lightning pic on the front.
To the two of you who listened to the show this morning, I did indeed call Gary Coleman's death well before it actually happened.
ReplyDeleteI'm the new Miss Cleo.
Cool pic! Are you trying to become a lighting rod?!
ReplyDeleteMan, I didn't know Coleman passed. That is very sad. I always got the picture he was very troubled since his time on Different Strokes. Actually, all the kids on that show seemed to have had problems. The girl passed away too, I believe.
ReplyDeleteAuburn now is beginning warm-ups.
ReplyDeleteNew time is 4:55 p.m. CDT.
The warning track still is soaked.
ReplyDeletelucky ehyou. I'm going to need at least another 6 hours of rain delay for me to have any chance of getting home before the game starts.
ReplyDeleteGame thread is UPZ.
ReplyDeletebtw, ua-t sucks. But y'all already knew that, I'm sure.
