The Five I'm Watching: Part III

Hey everyone. Let's continue.

NICK FAIRLEY
Defensive tackle
  • Age: 22
  • Class: Senior (two seasons of eligibility remaining)
  • Size: 6-foot-5, approximately 300 pounds
  • Previous role: Third guy in a two-tackle system, 2009
  • Theme song: ``Stand," R.E.M.
  • Relevant lyric: "Think about direction. Wonder why you haven't before."

THE GOOD: Nick Fairley is, to me, a totally untapped resource. I watch him play and am reminded of Pat Sims. What does that mean? Big dude, quick feet, light feet, awesome short-range acceleration, tackles that express rage. It's odd considering that both players are generally quiet people. Sims has a more biting wit. Though Fairley managed only a somewhat involved role last season -- he started two games -- the Mobile native was playing with more purpose during the season's final half. He has the capability to be more than a run-stopper; Fairley has the speed and instincts to be a pass-rush asset as well. Nothing in his past suggests that he's an injury liability. Fairley appears to be a rugged guy who can handle the rigors of 40 snaps per game.

THE BAD: If he's so talented, why didn't he shine last season? In his defense, junior college defense can be a pretty chaotic enterprise. Still, it's not like Mike Blanc and Jake Ricks are sure-fire NFL guys. Fairley had a few games -- LSU in particular -- where he was a non-factor. A guy with that kind of talent playing in his 18th college game shouldn't disappear. Though I never heard anyone say conditioning was a problem per se, it was clear that Fairley could be in better condition. More time with Kevin Yoxall, the Tigers' strength and conditioning czar, generally cures those kind of ills. His laid-back nature off the field could be a concern. Will he bring the fire on the field? Perhaps that played a role in Fairley's so-so season in 2009.

THE REALITY: He's my No. 1 breakout candidate ... on either side of the ball. Sure, Cameron Newton has a chance to be a big star. You already know that. So does everyone else in the SEC. Fairley still is under the radar for the most part. I kept seeing shades of Pat Sims last season. I consider that a great development for Auburn's defense, which needs all the good news it can get. I project 40 tackles, 5 sacks, hype building through the fall. Of course, I predicted Tommy Trott would flourish under Tony Franklin's leadership. You might want to take that into account.

What do you think? Speak your mind!

    Not really.

  3. Geez, I read that, get excited then see the name "Tony Franklin" at the end.

I like the Pat Sims comparison, maybe Fairley can turn it on late in his career at Auburn like Sims did.

    ReplyDelete
  4. That's "Fairley" good substance.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Choco, my opinion of you just dropped half a percentage point.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Homer - Does that mean ScoCho is on double-secret probation?

    Good stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  7. SchCho,
    I liked it.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Should be ScoCho, but you know who I mean.

    ReplyDelete
  9. sure hope Fairley come into his own this year. sure need him stopping up that middle.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Lame, I know. If I lost half a percentage point for that, how much did those who posted multiple Aycock jokes lose? (Of course, I'm guilty of one of those as recently as last week.)

    ReplyDelete
  11. excellent analysis, JGT. I was buying into it until the Trott reminder.

I'm not in prison today, but I might as well be. Things are really hopping at the BuyMore North store today.

    ReplyDelete
  12. SC, those Aycock jokes were on an expired thread, so they don't really count. Your "Fairley" pun was one of the first ten comments. You are lucky you just lost a half percentage point with Jay G (though if it is any consolation, you gained 6 percentage points with my goats).

lol@the Trott/Franklin prediction. We were all made fools of that year.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I feel a lot better knowing I'm +6 with the goats.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Then I won't tell you how low their opinion of you was to begin with.

    ReplyDelete
  15. "expired thread"?

well, it certainly hasn't expired in the sense that it is still available for comments. Heck, someone just posted on that thread a minute or so ago.

So, are you implying that JGT's threads go bad after a certain date? Or get all moldy?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I love this choice. The development of a dominant inside tackle is the key to this defense. If you don't control the inside, you aren't going to be very good defensively. Fairley could be the guy and comparing him with Sims is interesting. Sims was the biggest surprise we had under Tuberville. The guy went from off the team to off the hook.

  21. Yep, he Ziemba'd a Beasley at Ronnie Brown.

  22. Oh, okay. I guess the ref will have to pick up the flag.

  25. Onterio McCalebb could very well be the next Tristan Davis.

  26. Say, that reminds me of a story, Scottie b.

When I was kid growing up in Prattville, we always had lots of military families moving in and out of town. When I was about 12, I was hanging out at one of their houses and was introduced to the family dog, who was named "Fob". I asked the son (who was my age) why the dog was named "Fob", and he said, "Because he's so damn dumb."

Purely coincidentally I'm sure, Fob James was governor at the time.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Makes sense to me. Does it to you?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Everytime I hear the name Fob James, I'm reminded of a line from a song that isn't too complimentary to him.

"I have to admit, compared to Fob James George Wallace don't seem that bad"

    -Drive By Truckers

  29. somebody closely involved in mobile high school athletics said a few years ago that they could not believe how stupid bammer was to not heavily recruit fairley. he believed fairley was the best hs prospect in mobile that year. if he lives up the hype, hot boy, and other des will have big years too.

i've seen a serious upgrade in in the caliber of dt AU is recruiting the last two years under chizco. tubs went after the big boys and whiffed 99% or got 5*s that couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were on the heel (i'm looking greg smith's direction). AU always ended up with projects and managed to develop some good ones like marks, stump, ratliff, tj, spencer johnson etc. one AU insider told me at the 2006 msu game in starkiville that blanc would be the best dt to come through AU in a decade. still waiting on that one to happen. he has managed to be serviceable at best.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Blanc has been okay, but hasn't really had the breakout game yet. I really have high hopes for Fairley. The criticism I read of him last year was basically he was overly aggressive and sometimes got himself out of position. Yea, I will take a player who is overly aggressive. Once he settles in, he could be outstanding.

    ReplyDelete
  31. My main defensive concern over the past decade is the smaller DE's that we always seem to have. They are great in the passing game, but get bullied around on the run game.

It can work when you have LB's who can make the tackles and make up for it, however like last year when we had no depth at LB it can be a disaster.

    ReplyDelete
  32. AU needs that dt that can stick out an arm while engaged with an ol and still bring down the rb.

mentioning tony franklin in a thread is like leaving potato salad in the sun. the shelf life is dramatically reduced.

    ReplyDelete
  33. and you may vomit after consuming it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. yeah, the TF reference kinda made me turn my nose up a bit. eewwww.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Talk about UAt getting caught by some investigation is as Hoopie stated on a prior thread. It is all noise. AU goes 8-5 and has the #4 recrutiing class. UAt fans were saying AU is back to buying players. Who wants to go to a school who has a coach with a 5-19 record. AU must be paying players. It never stops. Not many accused Shula of paying players. AU was beating UAt and AU fans didn't need to beat Shula up. We wanted Shula to stay.

It is long way to February and AU is in position to land several top line recruits. we will be OK. We are ahead of last years count so be patient.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Don't criticize Franklin too much. After all, he is a graduate of the Mike Leach Institute for Public Speaking.

    ReplyDelete
  37. CHIP-I don't think AU found some better DB's and dropped Jones. He is still a very good player and one AU would like to have. Whatever is going on with his decision will come to light. it will just take a little time.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think Bates at LB is one to watch. If he makes that move, AU has a speedy LB that can more than cover the back out of the backfield. The drag route across the middle hurt AU a lot last year after Bynes & Stevens got wore down. They could not keep up with the RB/WR as he crossed the middle.

    ReplyDelete
  39. did all you alabamians vote today?

Thanks for being back to football work Jay!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Good point wtc. That was very evident against West Virginia and Arkansas.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Unfortunately, the LB's weren't the only ones who struggled with crossing routes.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think the #1 breakout candidate should be a true freshman. The combination of youth, sweat and adjusting to a new environment can cause an young man to break out.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Good news JGT. I hope your are 100% right about him having a break out year. This team really needs great play from defensive tackles. I thought he played pretty well last year most of the time.

    ReplyDelete
  44. What freshman will turn into a breakout player is probably the most interesting topic. Will Trevon Reed be the guy? He could even end up playing corner if he is looking for early playing time.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Great one, rk!

Now see ScottChoc, that is how you pun.

  48. It's about time Jay G change the front page quote to a football themed one, no? How's about you make it one of these awesome puns, Jay?

    ReplyDelete
  49. michael, type something profound and take over the front page.

    ReplyDelete
  50. It doesn't get more profound than "Don't hate the playa, hate the game. And the rash." What else do you want from me? More Eurasian plumbing tales?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Mmmm, more Eurasian plumbing tales!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. What's in it for me? Jay G ignores me when I talk about Eurasia. This is not the way for me to end up on the front page.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Possibly a petition to get Michael on the front page is called for here.

    ReplyDelete
  54. i, as a distinguished poster & ROF member, think it is important to diversity front page quotes. to deny true hottie genius is a travesty and an utter failure of freedom, HATE (of all things bammer), and the beAUty of all things orange & blue.

therefore, i ask all of my hottie brethren (and you hottie ladies out there) to rise up and demand that MJT receive the recognition he deserves.

this is scottie b. and i approve this message.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I will vote for MJT for front page only if he gives me an autographed copy of his pun instruction book (preferably the one with the forward written by WERK).

    ReplyDelete
  56. "distinguished"?

    ReplyDelete
  57. yes, i am 'distinguished' in my own mind. got a problem with that Norm?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Would you really vote for someone just cause Pat Dye tells you to? I am sick of that commercial. I will do nothing that Dye tells me to do.

    ReplyDelete
  59. There is so much we can learn from Michael, like what was the best thing before sliced bread.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Guys, no need to call for a front page quote placement for me. I have already been up there two or three times. Let the flow happen naturally, babies.

SC - I would have signed the pun instruction book if only you had asked me to BOOK you a copy. But you didn't.

    ReplyDelete
  61. scottieb - after that clarification, I take no issue with the statement. Carry on.

Go forward. Move ahead. Try to detect it.

    ReplyDelete

Rampant Speculation wastes time, efforts, money and emotion. It is a plague upon America that infects us all.

    ReplyDelete
  76. speculation about the demise of the turds and recruiting is both entertaining and useful. it helps some of us get by until kickoff against asu. the rest, i agree, is useless

    ReplyDelete
  77. So who's gonna be IV on JayG's list of five people he's watching?

More importantly, what will their theme song be?

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  79. what is truly useless is a computer with less than 50 usb ports.

Americans defeated the Red Coats for this.

From then on, at New Orleans, at the Alamo, in the Argonne, at Normandy, at Iwo Jima, at Inchon and in the jungles of Vietnam ...

... and today, in the mountains of Afghanistan and in the sands of Iraq, the battle for freedom wages on.

But there are those who think big government knows better, and they want to end your right to speculate.

Sticks and stones may break our bones, but our words we own.

Give me speculation or give me death.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Eric Smith is one player that I am looking for good things from this season, even though we heard little from him in the spring. He seems like a guy that can do a variety of things, which Malzahn likes.

As for Newton for Heisman, I did read an article that listed him as a "sleeper". I find it kind of ironic because while at Florida he was known as having questionable accuracy.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Cam Newton is 100% accurate with his throws and at the very least will be first team all SEC

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anonymous2:45 PM

Chip ..there aren't a lot of QB candidates available in the SEC East.

On another note: Pondscum seems hellbent on convincing the football world that Richt needs to go now. Some heavy-hitter UGA folks I know all say that Richt is STILL SAFE for now. They have more of a problem with his lack of discipline than winning.

    PF is after Richt

    ReplyDelete
  85. yeah, if the stolen laptop he threw out of his dorm window had landed in the dumpster instead of beside it, he may be the gators starting qb this year. his accuracy at uf was definitely a problem...

    ReplyDelete
  86. Anonymous2:47 PM

Chip ..Trashing Bama and it's minions is good for the soul in any form ...including Rampant Speculation.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Richt seemed to be a straight arrow about discipline early on at UGA, but then 3 or 4 years ago it's like he just stopped and let the players run everything.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I think that I will be the next entrant on the "The Five I'm Watching" list. Clearly, it doesn't have to be a current player. Why not me? I am "IV" according to my birth certificate (which I'll gladly supply unlike some folks in the news). It should be me, no question about it.

    ReplyDelete
  89. that certain radio show host whose name shall not be mentioned has a vested interest in removing all threats to the midget's power structure. richt is a good coach and thus a threat. meyer, chizco. & miles are the other obvious ones he would like to see replaced with a mike (dubose, price or shula).

    ReplyDelete
  90. I'm adding Maria Menoundos to my 5 to watch list after seeing her run out a groundout during the softball game last night.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Anonymous2:54 PM

I've seen where Gator fans are speculating where Cam may have acquired some passing fundamentals. According to them he was severely lacking. Of course the Gus Bus may be a better teacher of passing fundamentals than the Hunchback of Starkville.

    ReplyDelete
  92. the commercials that are on wnsp in mobile for that certain radio program are the epitome of what the show is about. the commercials include only the following soundbites: stupid AU callers screaming at him, or cousin humpers telling a texas fan that they suck. the agenda is crystal clear.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Just because the Department of Homeland Security is watching you, Norm, doesn't mean Jay G's watching you.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Cam's numbers at Blinn looked very similar to Todd's last season in terms of passing. Cam's numbers were slightly better.

What was striking is the rushing numbers. Cam had around 650 while Todd was somewhere below zero.

No, it isn't a fair comparison because of the different talent level, but it is some of what little we have to go on.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Were the majority of Cam's positive numbers in 4 games?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Anonymous3:17 PM

Todd had adequate passing fundamentals with a dead arm.

Cam has a cannon with erratic fundamentals.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Who else would be the starting QB for the East team? Garcia? The dude at UT, yet to be named? The kid at UGA? The new kid at UK, how about that 2nd year Vandy player who was terrible?

I think Brantely is the most sound of all choices.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Anonymous3:23 PM

Although PF's tactics are the same since he went national on Sirius/XM radio, he has definitely upgraded his interviewees and the quality of the call-in listeners. He is slowly phasing out the inbred call-ins. I say slowly because PF recognizes that the rest of the nation is enjoying a full dose of some of Alabama's best fools.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Y'all are giving Peter way to much criticism.

    ReplyDelete
  108. As for the games, Newton's were pretty much like any QBs. Better numbers against poorer opponents. That isn't nothing new.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I know that you put up better numbers vs lower opponents, but Todd was night and day in the conference and outside of the conference.

The 4 regular season non-conference games, Todd had 15 TD's and 1 INT

The 8 conference games he had 6 TD's and 5 INTs

    ReplyDelete
  110. Y'all are crazy. College football is dumb.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I have been thinking the seat might not be so hot for Richt this season since he got him a new DC, but if he turns in another 7-5 season, I would color him gone.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Todd had a couple of bad games against SEC opponents.

    ReplyDelete
  113. What ever happened to the 2010 Ring of Fire inductees. There was a vote called for and then the wc happened with zero results from said vote.

    ReplyDelete
  114. 100% completions from Cam Newton is approximately what some people are expecting.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Don't you blaspheme in here!

    ReplyDelete
  116. Last comment directed at Seanzie, not JGT (who can blaspheme all up in here if he wants to).

    ReplyDelete
  117. Jay G,

That's a bit much. People have far to much that they expect out of him.

He'll get 75% of his passes completed and have a 15-1 TD to INT ratio, but those people expecting 100% are crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I expect 60% completion but with great leadership.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Another East Tennessee Liberal at your service here.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I can't understand anyone ranking John Brantley as the best QB in the East when he hasn't done anything yet. I guess it is more of an indication of the lack of QB talent in the East. Spurrier seems to be giving Garcia no respect at all and is not bringing him to media days, even though he is a senior.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I'm thinking Cam will be somewhere in the ~2k passing. 12-18 TDs. 8-12 INTs. Roughly 50-65% Completion Ratio. I also expect him to run for about 600 yards and another handful of scores.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Personally, if I'm Spurrier, I play the kid.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I expect Newton's TD/INT ratio to be no worse than 3:1.

    Or he'll get yanked.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Cam was at about 60% at Blinn with about 4 TDs per interception. I would love to see those numbers at Auburn. Throw in a few hundred yards of rushing and we will have a darn good QB.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Jay G,

15 interceptions is a lot for the 45 TD's he's guaranteed to throw.

    ReplyDelete
  126. If he is below 55% completion rate, I would expect him to be riding the pine.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Garcia will start but Spurrier keeps the long hook close by at all times so he better show improvement.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I would like to see Buckethead play QB for the Tahd this year.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Spurrier seems to have gotten more and more impatient with his QBs as he has aged. I don't think it has been a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Spurrier has always been impatient with QBs. Even Wuerffel was in and out before establishing himself.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Oh, and PUPPET HOUR! AAAHHHH!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Sorry I am not in love with PD. I was living out of the illustrious state and across the pond and all I got to hear was the negative with probation. Sometimes it is good to be away. Now to me he is an old guy like Bear and I don't want AU to look anything like that school up the road.

    ReplyDelete
  133. So what did Pat Dye do again? Besides punching that clown in the stomach?

    ReplyDelete
  134. Pat Dye was a much different person late in his career at Auburn. If he had been healthy, I don't think things would have gotten so out of hands.

    ReplyDelete
  135. And now he is pushing political candidates on us and punching clowns. The nerve!

    ReplyDelete
  136. I keep reading good things about Dan Mullen. The latest is he is the third best coach in the SEC. I am already nervous about that Thursday night game.

    ReplyDelete
  137. It is Captain Phil night on the Deadliest Catch. I really hated to see that guy pass.

    ReplyDelete
  138. People of the HABOTN, I have returned!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Hey guys did you hear that, Norm's back

    ReplyDelete
  140. Welcome back, Norm.

    ReplyDelete
  141. SFC, I never thought Deadliest Catch could be sad but the last two weeks have been just that.

    ReplyDelete

Phil and his sons are the most interesting people on that show. He seems like he was a great guy. I wish his sons well.

And like Norm, I'm back, from vacation. If anyone likes rafting, I highly recommend the all day trip on the lower New River Gorge. Great class IV-V's.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Deadliest Catch is one of the best shows on tv. I won't say that Phil was my favorite on the show, but he wasn't my least favorite.

    ReplyDelete

  145. It's been a great show. I hope it stays around for a while longer.

I'm jealous Nova. I love rafting although I've only been in "white water" once. I went on the Chattooga several years ago.

  146. Deadliest Catch is a good show, especially in terms of reality TV.

I hate that one of the last shows I saw showed Phil catching his son stealing some of his medicine. Phil jumped all over the kid, as he should. But I hope that kid realizes that he got so upset because he cared, not because he didn't.

  147. Instead of our annual beach trip, we decided last year that this year we could go to the Smokey Mountains. Turns out that was a great decision.

Our plans had been to go white water rafting. However, I have a friend who went with her husband on vacation to Colorado last month. He died in a rafting accident. They weren't even in very rough rapids and were on their second run down the river. It was the first fatality in this company's 25 year history.

I know thousands of people go rafting all the time with no problem, but I kind of have an irrational fear about going rafting now. I decided to bow out of the trip and stay with my daughter who can't go because of her pregnancy. Hopefully I will get over this so I can go sometime, but I think I can live without ever experiencing it.

  148. Discovery has some of the best shows. The Colony's second season is suppose to start soon, the 27th if I remember right. It is an interesting show, although some of the stuff seems overdramatized.

Mythbusters is must see TV. Any show whose description includes "blow stuff up" can't be bad.

  151. mashed taters, 2 large servings (mine and half of LGGB's) of country style steak so tender you have to eat it with a spoon, fried okra (corn meal, of course, not flour), fresh corn, biscuit, chocolate chip ice cream... yep, I'm tight as a tick.

  152. I think rafting would be a blast. However, I don't do boats. The water isn't usually too deep when rafting, but the rocks that can knock you unconscious, or the hydraulics that can suck you under a rock into oblivion are enough to keep me from getting into whitewater.

How could that boy leave half a country fried steak?

    ReplyDelete
  155. ehyou - I can assure you, LGGB would never leave half a country fried steak. In fact, he'd eat as many servings as he could get. But country style steak, that's a different story. 2.0 showed MrsTHT how to make it super duper tender every time. It's so good I could jump in a tub filled with it and be happy. LGGB doesn't share that degree of fondness for that particular dish.

  156. Somethin's just not right about that boy.

  157. JGT,

I think your analysis was spot on. Nick Fairley is the guy that the defense will pivot on.

If Nick Fairley goes above the numbers your projected, I think the Auburn defense swings upward (ie less the 20 ppg allowed, etc.) If he goes below, then all bets are off.

Steve, the show after Phil caught Josh in his drugs, he was going through old family pictures and having a good time with his sons. That was very shortly before the stroke. I'm sure they treasure that memory.

Yes, rafting is little risky. So is scuba diving and so is driving on the DC beltway. You take reasonable precautions but you have to live life.

I'm thinking of doing the Gauley this fall (same area as the New). It's 14 miles of continuous class IV's and V's dropping 66ft/mile. Not for novices but sounds like a blast.

  164. Concering le Tour, tt's too bad about Lance Armstrong's bad luck this year, but the real duel between Contador and Schleck is shaping up to be as good as anything we've seen in the Tour de France in some time I think.

It's gonna be fun to watch what happens over the next week and a half.

I am not usually a fearful person, but like I said this is an irrational fear. Hopefully I will get over it when a little time passes. This just happened a couple of weeks ago so it is pretty fresh.

Cincy ...If you are around the Ga-Tn-NC border, try starting with something docile like the Nantahala River (class 1s and 2s), then go to the Ocoee River(class 3s-4s).

I would recommend doing those lessor rivers and being in very good shape and a good swimmer prior to doing a river with class 4s and 5s.

It's as much about being in the cool water and the scenery as it is the challenge of the river.

  171. NOVA-I did the New RIver several years ago when staying at The Greenbriar. Volunteered to go down the first set of rapids on my back. Water was ICE COLD. Stayed in the boat afterward.

  172. EBRO-Wonder if Cantador and Schleck wore themelves out today. Tough ride through the Alps. Great TV though. What a closing run by those two.

  173. So AU is no longer recruiting Chris Jones. It is VERY early to talk recruiting, but that whole situation is just strange. Looks like his parents told him he was not going to AU period. He really chapped some coaches yesterday when he told them.

  174. In better news, Bonomolo is ready to go. He will arrive on August 1st. Says he will do whatever it takes to make the starting lineup. Looks like a tough DE and will help alot.

Cincy. I understand your reluctance. Give it some time then start slow like Hoopie said.

WTC, Air temps were mid 90's. The water was nice and we were frequently swimming between rapids.

The Gualey is a dam release river so the water comes from the bottom of a lake. Water temps around 57. That's what wet suits are for.

    ReplyDelete
  177. wtc...Wondered the same thing about Schleck and Contador. Was definitely shocked to see them catch up on the descent. Didn't expect such aggressive riding until the Pyrenees. Maybe these two are just in a class of their own. Looks like it.

They'll at least have the next week or so (outside today's moderate mountain stage) to let their teammates do the work in the peloton and let the sprinters hog the spotlight. Though the pressure to control the race is now on Team Saxo Bank with Schleck in yellow. Can they handle it?

    ReplyDelete
  178. As far as rafting goes, I love it, and I say that as one who only goes once a year if that. I do it the Hoopie way. Go down the Ocoee in August when it's at its hottest to cool off in the water and enjoy the scenery.

The rapids are fun too and I have fallen out a couple of times, but it's all part of the fun if you have the right equipment. Love when we get to calm waters and you can just get ouf of the raft and float down river. Water feels sublime then.

He left 2 on with a long fly out his first time up, but knocked in the winning run when it mattered.
