The Five I'm Watching: Part VI (BONUS)

Hey everyone. So I couldn't whittle down the list to just five players without cutting Lee Ziemba, so he becomes the BONUS sixth player to watch.

Please enjoy your weekend ... and this fine piece of prose.

LEE ZIEMBA
Left tackle
  • Age: 21
  • Class: Senior (one season of eligibility remaining)
  • Size: 6-8, approximately 320 pounds
  • Previous roles: Starting left tackle
  • Theme song: ``Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out," Eric Clapton (many people have performed it)
  • Relevant lyric: "When you finally get back up on your feet again, everybody wants to be your old long-lost friend."

THE GOOD: Ziemba is exactly what an NFL scout seeks in a left tackle. He's tall. He's big without being fat. He has relatively quick feet. Years of repetition have given him a strong base of fundamentals. Coaches always have praised his awareness. Ziemba has missed a total of zero games during his three-year career, which demonstrates an ability to play through injury. He is an outstanding run blocker. Ziemba often is overpowering in running situations. He was raised in an Auburn home -- his father is a graduate -- and I've always gotten the sense that he really is playing for the school. It's a difficult thing to quantify, sure, but I can sense it nonetheless.

THE BAD: He is penalized too often for someone of his experience and aptitude. Though his problem isn't as bad as some say, Ziemba has been flagged more more than his fair share of drive-stalling holds and false starts. He said in April that it's a concentration thing -- and something that has become a point of emphasis this offseason. Ziemba used to lean when guarding against the outside pass rush, which led to a rash of missed blocks in 2008, though he seemed to trust his lateral quickness more in 2009. He's probably a little above average as a pass blocker right now. That's a big improvement. It's rare that you see Auburn ask him to pull on a sweep or screen pass.

THE REALITY: He is Auburn's most reliable offensive player and one that cannot be replaced. The Tigers don't have anyone who can step in and play at Ziemba's level. I expect penalty prevalence to fall within the normal range this season. I also expect his pass-block skills to sharpen because of experience, which will make him a first- or second-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. He's an undervalued part of the Tigers' enterprise right now.

What do you think? Speak your mind!

Most fans won't realize how big of an asset Ziemba has been until he's gone.

  2. JGT - that is indeed fine prose. But may I offer a suggestion that you try it in iambic pentameter, perhaps with caesurae after the 4th syllable of the odd lines?

    ReplyDelete
  3. I like Ziemba. He just looks like a football player. And I agree with AUEE13, people knock him now, but they will surely miss him when he is gone.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Very good choice, Jay. Ziemba plays the hardest position on the offensive line and has been pretty darn solid. Plus I think he holds the record for number of heads ripped off defensive linemen.

    ReplyDelete
  5. so, who will be our starting LT in 2011?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hey, I must be cool. I am listening to Buffalo Springfield.

    ReplyDelete
  7. well, For What It's Worth, I'm listening to Alice Cooper.

    ReplyDelete
  8. And I'm listening to Casey Donahew. What you don't know who he is? I figured as much

    ReplyDelete
  9. So much for Tiger being Tiger this weekend. Instead Louis oooooossttiiiunnzzieenn is being Tiger this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  10. There's no better golf than St. Andrews golf.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I know I give Ziemba a ton of grief, but there is no doubt when he's on, he's one of the best offensive linemen we've had at Auburn.

He arrives early to the party sometimes, but he's always stays to the end as well.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Apparently, THT posted before the thread has been posted ... that's a penalty for false state.

Having said that, Ziemba is the most valuable player we've got.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Homer - nice stuff indeed. Ziemba can be both extremely frustrating and fascinating to watch. I do hope the frustrating parts are cut down this season.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Guess that means we can't groan and make fun of him anymore. Wonder if he got a haircut if his strength would be gone.

We can see where Tiger was getting his strength from.

    ReplyDelete
  15. It's fun to watch all the trouble those pros have had with The Road Hole. It was an easy par for me (and I certainly needed a par after the 10 I had on a par 5).

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ziemba will be a 1st round pick after this year.

I didn't get to comment on the FAH thread, but if we get 900yds and 12 TDs out of him then we will have a HoaY (Hell of a Year).

    Off to the Zoo.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don't know about 900 yards out of FAH. You have to figure the carries will be divided between him, Fannin, and Dyer. I don't think there is any way Dyer redshirts.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Good to know your a fan feng

    ReplyDelete
  19. Does anyone speak Han Chinese? I never know what Feng is trying to say...

    ReplyDelete
  20. Feng has always been complimentary and helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  21. We really should go after "Uneik Crumbley". Yea, I just like the name. Is that first name pronounced unique?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Supposedly we got a commitment today from Sammy Coats. He reportedly ran a 4.31 today. I don't know much about him, but others say his recruitment is really going to heat up over the next couple of months. We may also be on the verge of stealing Danny Woodson from the turds.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It seems we stole Coats from Southern Miss. I wonder if the people that use to bash Tuberville for getting recruits like that will also bash Chizik.

    ReplyDelete
  24. STeve ... if they turn out to be marginal players and if it becomes a pattern, then, yep.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Many of Tubervilles became great players, so I don't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Coates is a 6'3' wide receiver with blazing speed.
AU maybe letting Woodson go his own way now. AU will take maybe 2-3 wideouts this year.
Steve- I agree with Jet, if they don't pan out, we will jump on him like we did Tubbs.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Just enjoying the hypocrisy. Why jump on him only if they are bad, when you jump on Tuberville when they are good. Got to love the Bammersque values.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ziemba looks like Bam Margera from "Jacka$$" fame. Ziemba has handled adversity well during his stay at AU.

    ReplyDelete
  29. From what I have seen I get the impression Ziemba is a pretty level headed kid. I've never really seen him look upset.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well SFC it is still early in the process and his recruitment will certainty heat up with his size and speed. He performed very well at the camp today and in the end you can say we stole him from many others.

WTC, Richardson and now Coats makes 2 so who is the 3rd?

    ReplyDelete
  31. What is his 40 time? He looked very fast in the video I saw, but looks like he needs to beef up a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Also you should possibly face expulsion for comparing anything someone does on here to the walmartians.

"Got to love the Bammersque values".

    ReplyDelete
  33. This recruiting season is a lot different than last season. The coaches have a little more flexibility to go after the best players rather than just filling needs. It is amazing how much a difference last years class has made. I still can't believe they got virtually the entire class in school. Lately we have been lucky to get two thirds in.

    ReplyDelete
  34. He was clocked at 4.3something today. That is without pads though. His video looks good. He seems to play fast and has long arms. He also posted at 37"vertical today. I think he could be a good one.

    ReplyDelete
  35. AU will take Morrow or a kid from Miami named Tacio

    ReplyDelete
  36. What hypocrisy are you talking about?

    ReplyDelete
  37. With that kind of speed, it leaves plenty of room for him to bulk up a bit. It is nice to see the coaches grab a kid when they see the talent.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Mr. Coates looks very impressive. I'm going to have great AU dreams tonight of him doing a Frank Sanders number on Jabriel Washington in 2012.

    Sweet AU dreams, Hotties

    ReplyDelete
  39. sfc, we've been lucky to keep 2/3 of the 2/3 that got in as well.

    ReplyDelete
  40. coates was apparently injured in camp last year and never got back to full speed. thus the usm offer and commit. i read where some scouts at the camp today said get ready for his recruitment to blow up. i don't see this as one like tubs used to get at the end to fill a spot with a longshot player. too many people seem to think he's the real deal for that to be the case, i think.

    ReplyDelete
  41. pay sites say AU could have a commit from a hoover wr around monday when he makes a return visit with mom. AU's offer today was his first.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Bugs Bunny cartoons get better as you get older. He ran across these 2 dudes on a medieval themed spot:

    Sir Loin of Beef
    Sir Osis of Liver

Pretty sure I missed that when I was 6.

    ReplyDelete
  43. You never really no with recruits. We have had plenty 2 and 3 star recruits turn into good players, so stars don't bother me. Also, if you look back at the five stars we have signed, they haven't lived up to their billing.

With any recruit, regardless of the stars, you just have to wait and see how he handles college. I think McNeil has been out highest rated DB recruit until recently, but the guy hasn't been an impact player. You just never can tell.

I am hoping that the large number or recruits that actually made it to Auburn is due to the kind of players that Chizik is getting. George H. W. Bush said it, character matters.

    ReplyDelete
  44. you are correct ehyou. my kids like boomerang and the smoking, drinking and racist jokes are still downright funny. my particular favorite is the whistling hick wolf that is sometimes droopy's nemesis and gets eaten out of house and home by the billy goat.

    guh nite ya'll ya'll ya'll ya'll ya'll ya'll ya'll ya'll...

Yeah the old cartons are hilarious. They were written for adults as much or as children as they were intended for movie theaters, not TV.

    ReplyDelete

I don't care if we steal recruits from Podunk U as long as they produce.

  49. Andy Bitter had a Q&A session with Jay Jacobs on Thursday.

    ReplyDelete
  50. THT - nice link on the Q&A. Did you pay attention to the people sending in the Q's? I did. Interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Duh, you're THT, OF COURSE you paid attention to that tidbit. Good stuff.

  52. Evan Woodbury's synopsis for the AU football camp yesterday

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'd love to be at the opening game in the new Arena. And I'd say there's about a 2% chance of that happening.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hello to our Hungarian Hottie!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Mike Herndon lists the Press-Register'sElite 18

and then has a story about the Elite 18.

    ReplyDelete
  56. without reading the e18 story, i will surmise that only one AU commit is in the top 10. a 140# kid from some private school that runs a 5.4 is probably #18 just to keep an AU commit off the list. i'm just going on randy bammer jock sniffer kennedy's m.o. he is really in control of the list no matter what name is on it.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Actually Chip Auburn commits and those we lead for are are well represented. When it's all said and done we will have 3 of the top 5.

WTC, back to the WR discussion. What about Chris Frost? I think we have a great shot at getting him and I think we are recruiting him as a WR.

    ReplyDelete
  58. now i have read it. they managed to add sammie coates to the end of the "others" list before press time. AU could conceivably end up with 7-10 signees from this list. but it is a down year in AL according to bammers.

i have to say, chizco's recruiting efforts continue to dwarf what AU got from bbq inc in the final few years.

    ReplyDelete
  59. everything i've read about frost is that AU just wants him. if he can punt they want him. he has the ATH tag.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Bammers natural reaction to Auburn doing well is to make excuses. Make no mistake that they have offered every one of the guys in the Elite 18 that we will get.

Here are the official numbers for Coats at the camp yesterday. Others will surely come calling shortly.
Posted times in the 40 of...4.32 and 4.38

  62. Anonymous11:06 AM

So why do so many fans complain about Ziemba's penalties? I think it is because those mistakes are easy for the casual fan to recognize. I guess the other reason for some much complaining is that those penalties are ready-made cheapshot fodder and some fans can't resist the easy opportunity to pile on. Think about it ....taking cynical shots at your best player just because you found an easy target. The validity of the complaint magnitude doesn't matter ..it's all about posting that cute comment. Too me that smacks of attention hound.

Ziemba is our best player, yet heavily criticized. I'll quit criticizing the cheapshot artists when they start criticizing offenders and their actions that are a true net negative to AU. Of course for those "artists" to do that will probably require investing time in film study instead of writing cute quips.

    ReplyDelete
  63. ok, but can we continue with rampant speculation?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Anonymous11:15 AM

Oosthasen(sp) has an 8 point lead after 12 holes today.

    ReplyDelete
  65. thanks for the update, Hoopie!

    ReplyDelete
  66. THT- you should download the ESPN app since you obviously are unable to go to espn.com for updates

    ReplyDelete
  67. Please tell me that makes me an artist. Please.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Hotties are great, I don't need no app.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'd just like to think this board was a place we could have some fun and not take things so seriously, but maybe I'm wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  70. "Got to love the Bammersque values".

    You gotta be kidding me.

    ReplyDelete
  71. If there is a 7th thing Jay G should add to his watch list is the play of the special teams. That's one area where we probably can't help but improve.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I want our kickoffs to get across the goal line. Is that too much to ask? Matt Clark (kicking from the 35) flew the back of the end zone with his kicks.

    ReplyDelete
  73. RK, I agree. Special teams has to improve, especially the punt returns. I have never seen our punt returns that bad.

Kickoff coverage will hopefully improve also. It wasn't great. We haven't looked good in kick coverage sense they moved the kickoff to the 35.

These things just make the performance of our offense last season even more amazing, although there is certainly room for improvement.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm not a rat to be spat on locked up in this room.

only 10 more hours until I escape the BuyMore.

    ReplyDelete
  75. We must just take joy in the improvement from 2008 to 2009. During 2008, I always got the feeling our offense having the ball was a bad thing because something bad was going to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Another thing with special teams is can we have a kicker be consistently good for consecutive years?

It seems that has been a lot to ask over the past decade or so.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Anonymous12:47 PM

I'm hoping that the lack of depth was the overriding factor to our poor special teams in 2009. We probably can't go from very bad to great in one off season, so I'll be very happy with anything that is better than average.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Let us pause a moment to reflect on...

    ReplyDelete
  79. Anonymous12:56 PM

Piling on Bammers-$aban-Kiffen, etc is fun. If you are gonna criticize my team ..make sure it is valid. If you are gonna pile on my team just for fun, then don't leave yourself open, cause I'll pile on you. After all I'll only be "having a little fun". If getting piled on bothers anyone, then check those hypocrisy meter batteries.

    ReplyDelete
  80. "Rampant speculation" will be a common theme at the new HABOTN.

Not as a value, per se, but as a phrase you'll hear far more often.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Good afternoon, Blogger Tate.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Saying Ziemba has a few false starts under his belt isn't valid?

    ReplyDelete
  83. By the way, someone needs to wake the Braves up. Except for Prado their bats have been struggling even before the All Star break.

    ReplyDelete
  84. My batteries are all charged up.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Frost is recruited as an athlete. AU just wants him in. Gus will put him in somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  86. We seem to be going more after the athletes with no real position these days more than in the past.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I like the idea about going for the best athletes, which you can do when you don't have the numbers problems like we had last season. These athletes are basically players that could be successful in a variety of roles. That, to me, is a huge plus. Also, I get the sense that Malzahn loves players that can do multiple things.

    ReplyDelete
  88. i've never had a problem with ol getting penalties. that is just part of the game. i think why Z gets so much heat is the timing of his has tended to jump out. they turn 3rd & 2 into 3rd & 7 or sometimes he has had two false starts in a row. no ol penalty ever helps a drive. his have just been particularly painful for some reason. we all know how good and important he is, so i guess many fans tend to hold him to a higher standard. rightly or wrongly...

    ReplyDelete
  89. in Z's defense, he was injured in 2008 and was admittedly trying to overcompensate for the decreased mobility and being underweight @ 280 thanks to the direction of a coach who will remain unnamed. that is when most of the silliest of his penalty problems occurred. not much went right for anyone in 2008.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Brian McCann wakes the Braves bats up with a grand slam.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I don't think Z was comfortable with the changes in 2008, and I can understand why. What I think CTF was going for was an offense similar to what Mike Leach ran at Texas Tech. The philosophy there was significantly different with the wide line splits. What we ended up with was a mish mash of philosophies which caused problems. You can't really blame Ziemba from having issues in that situation. We saw in the media where one coach said something that contradicted another coach. Imagine being a player and trying to deal with that. Regardless of what the page is, everyone has to be on the same one.

    ReplyDelete
  92. werk...
The offense will have it's ebbs and flows just like everybody else. As long as the pitching stays relatively injury free I like the long run outlook.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Pitching has been pretty good so far. I'm not sure about Tommy Hansen at this point because he's been drilled in 3 of his last 4 starts.

I know Kawakami catches all the grief from the Braves fans and at 1-9 it's understandable, but I haven't seen Jesse Chavez in a game where he hasn't struggled.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Homer, thanks for the bonus. Ziemba is a key compomemt for Auburn this year. And I believe he will perform well if he can stay injury free. Sure is nice seeing Chzco and staff doing so well in recruiting. Go Tigers!!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Loucheiz Purifoy has apparently received an offer from Auburn. Should he come to Auburn he would provide serious competition to Tunde Fariyike for the strangest name on the team.

    ReplyDelete
  96. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Anonymous5:28 PM

Fariyike still wins by a mile.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Yea, that last name just does it for him.

    ReplyDelete
  99. THT, a part of that story you posted caught my eye. The part where he says Chiz encourages them to play hookie from time to time. I like that a lot. Those guys have an awesome job, but have to put in some seriously long hours. It's nice they have a boss that wants to get the job done and wants it done right, but at the same time he values his people and their families. You don't hear that a lot in their profession. I think that just further proves what kind of man we have running our program. I know it's early and anything can happen, but I have a feeling we will be building something special and Chizik will be around for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I wish he would tell me to go home.

    ReplyDelete
  101. New to the board. Heard good things about the board from a member yet I don't know his profile name. Hope to have some good banter, learn and share some info on college sports.

    WARRRRR EAGLE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Flock - What do you think of the BC coaching situation?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Welcome Flock, what part of Alabama are you from?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Welcome, FoS! Jump in with some pithy comments.

    ReplyDelete
  106. If you liked The Hangover, I think you are going to like this movie Due Date Trailer. I loved that Hangover and I really enjoy Robert Downey Jr. Looks like a good combo to me.

It's officially get ready for football time for me now. This week is SEC Media days...the official kickoff to the season if you ask me.

BTW- Inception very good movie...Shutter Island 2.0 if you ask me.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Watched Shutter Island last night. I thought it was pretty good even though I figured out part of what the ending was going to be within the 1st 15 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  108. FoS are you a bammer by chance?

  110. CH=B- Yeah, I just watched Shutter Island less than a week ago and same thing with ending for me, but enjoyed the ride.

Not sure if this is new or not, I think I had seen this before, but looks a little different...Possible Jordan-Hare Stadium Expansion

    ReplyDelete
  111. Welcome Flock! You will definitely hear great football banter here.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I think the Flock of Seagulls has already flown away.

Either that or he's researching his answer to the BC coaching situation.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Eddie - is that in the year 2525?

    ReplyDelete
  114. If Hoopie's gettin' wound up, it's getting near football season. That's a good thing.

If Steve's gwttin' wound up, it's gettin' near dinner time. Poor boy needs to watch his blood sugar.

Flock, do you have one of those awesome haircuts.

THT, go eat some ice cream for us.

Norm, go do a con call.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Oooo, THT, thanks for the heads up. Better stick to Flock.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Jet - they don't have ice cream in the BuyMore :-(

So, which one of these is our new Hottie?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Hey Cincy. How's your daughter?

    ReplyDelete
  118. She's doing great! We're up to 9 weeks. She is pretty nauseated, but thankfully not throwing up :)

Tylerson is taking his first business trip tomorrow, going to Maryland. He is so excited. Wonder how long it takes for that to wear off?

How are your girls? Any changes?

    ReplyDelete
  119. Unfortunately my golden, Nelly, has been diagnosed with lymphoma. Not a whole lot we can do now but continue to spoil her rotten and keep her comfortable. It's hard saying goodbye to such a wonderful part of our family. It's been a very sad 10 days and a terrible 21st BD for my daughter. My daughter will get her new apartment on Wednesday, but I think she has decided to wait until after this mini-semester to move in. Nelly was her Christmas present almost 8 years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  120. THT- "In The year Two Thousand....."

    ReplyDelete
  121. Kathy- Tough situation to be in. Wish you the best!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Oh, Kathy, I am so sorry. I know how you feel. When our golden, Molly, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, it was terrible. We loved her so much and saying good bye was awful. But now, 3 years later, I only think of how wonderful it was to have her as part of our family.

I will be praying for comfort for all of you.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Thanks for the welcome. No comment on the whole BC thing

    ReplyDelete
  124. Kathy, I know it is way too soon to think about this, but I am going to plant a seed. When you get ready for another golden, let me know. Kathryn gets some awesome goldens through the rescue in Nashville. Many who are through the puppy stage, already neutered, house trained. They are wonderful and desperately need a new family.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Thanks for the kind words and prayers. It will be a long time before I can get another doggie.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Welcome, Flock of Seagulls!!!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Eddie, when is the kick off date for your internet radio show? The hiatus has really hurt my chances of becoming famous from calling into your show.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Sorry to hear about your pet's problems, Kathy. I know about pets. My dog Scooby is my constant companion and usually provides the most conversation I get in a day.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I haven't seen the movie Shutter Island but I read the book. I don't see how you guys figured out the ending after 15 min when you don't know the ending for sure after it's over.

    ReplyDelete
  130. ehyou- I think the ending was pretty clear. I didn't guess his decision, but guessed his role.

Steve- Doesn't look to be an Auburn show this year, instead look to be doing an SEC Show.

    ReplyDelete
  131. An SEC show would be pretty good, but I doubt my comments would fit in there.

I may have to go back to my alternative method for seeking fame, namely making prank Mel Gibson phone calls.

    ReplyDelete
  132. The last book I read hasn't been made into a movie, but I highly recommend it.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Welcome Flock.

THT - Hot Wife, F4* and I left the house headed for an ice cream store followed by a neighborhood walk after getting home.

Jet - I'll pass tonight, but I'll more than make up for it during the week.

Kathy - our Golden will be 11 this year. Worst puppy I've ever owned but without a doubt, the best dog I've ever owned. And there have been many. She's like a family member. If she can't travel with us or the in-laws can't take her, we don't go. Her world was rocked when F4* came into it 3.5 years ago but she adjusted fairly well. Point being, I think they're the best dogs ever and can't imagine how you and yours are feeling. Keep doing what you're doing.

  134. Didn't read Shutter Island but we saw it a few weeks ago. It was good, but I did figure out the crux of the situation fairly early on. Much like I did with The Sixth Sense. Of course, I'm incredibly brilliant so don't be ashamed if you can't say you figured them out too.

  135. I think golden retrievers adjust better than dachschunds. Molly never did adjust real well to us having children... and we had the children at least 5 years before we had Molly. That dog owned us.

  136. I have the absolute best dog in the world and he is a chow/sheppard mix. Think of a 110# Chow Chow with hiar like a chow, but Sheppard markings. Sounds scary.

This dog loves everyone. Well, everyone unless you are a cat or squirrel.

  140. Man, I wish I had the talent it takes to play air guitar on America's Got Talent.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Thanks for the link to the summer workout article, THT. It sounds like everything is going great.

I have loved the news coming out of Auburn ever since ChizCo took over. Previously you could tell by some comments that there was discontent on the team. You just don't see that now.

Thanks THT for fixing that link

  143. I read about the ND incident, although I don't consider it real serious. If they were drunk behind the wheel, it would be a different matter. It just sounds like some kids got caught doing what college kids will do. It isn't right, but it isn't drunk driving either.

  144. yes sir, Hoopie.

    How 'bout this fiesty nun

  145. Sorry to hear about your dog Kathy. It's tough to let one go.

Cincy, I might be interested in hearing more about your daughter's rescue dogs. My current dog has become depressed recently and I think it's loneliness. We had to put our other dog down a few months ago.

SFC, I have a German Shepard/ Chow mix. Great dog, but a little neurotic at times. She is fairly small though. She only weighs about 40lbs. She too hates bammers. She hates one of my long time friends and I think it is because she can smell the bammer in him.

I think Shutter Island was fairly easy to figure out. Now all the intricacies were not easy. I also think one could pretty much assume what the ending scene meant.

Did anyone see The Book of Eli? Well I don't want to ask what I was about to in case someone who wants to see it hasn't. If you have seen it you probably can figure out what I was going to ask.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I wished I hadn't paid money to see the Book of Eli. I hope I am dead rather than live in a world like that.

    Welcome seagulls...

    ReplyDelete
  147. Kathy.....sorry about your pet. It's hard to see them go but then we remember all the fun memories.

    ReplyDelete
  148. i have not seen Book of Eli, and thanks to the heads up from WEG, won't waste my time renting it.

And I don't even recall hearing of SHutter ISland (it must not be on the map).

    ReplyDelete
  149. I agree on the hope I'm dead part, but I liked the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  150. THT, don't know your taste in movies but both are pretty good.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Shutter Island being better.

    ReplyDelete
  152. well, of course the ending made it interesting but it took too long to get there.
Missed Shutter Island but heard it was good.

    ReplyDelete
  153. I'm the least likely in my family to watch a movie, unless of course, tOJW or It's a Wonderful Life is on.

I loved the Bourne movies and the first Matrix.

  154. one hour to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has been a reasonably slow day at the BuyMore SuperCenter. No doubt all the customers are waiting to arrive in the last hour in hopes of super deals.

  155. Howdie Hotties., Almost football season. Can't wait.

Welcome Seagull guy, now get the Flock outta hear....Kidding of course. Just had to use that line.

Heard similar news about the Jones kid as Chip chip, and why he took AU off the list. Or maybe that was WTC. Anyway, can't miss what we never had.

  156. I didn't hear anything. I never hear anything 500 miles away

  158. Just as well Tar. You can just enjoy the season w/o having to listen to the sidewalk bammers constantly.

Are you ready for some football....

  159. You people knock Bammers too much. Most of us had to pay to see My Cousin Vinnie. The Bammers give it to you for free.

  160. SteveFC - NCAA investigating USCe footballer - has that already been posted here?

    ReplyDelete
  161. It's awesome how Spurrier got in a pot shot against USCw in that article. Classic Spurrier.

    ReplyDelete
  162. yep, E-Bro, I almost copied that quote. Ya gotta love the Ol' Ball Coach.

    ReplyDelete
  163. wow, I hadn't read this about how dirty Pete Carroll & USCw was.

    ReplyDelete
  164. The NCAA investigation of UNC is spreading to USCe. Supposedly there were players that had improper dealings with sports agents.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Thanks THT. I hadn't seen that one. Apparently the NCAA is wanting to flex it's muscles a bit after spanking USCw.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Good lord. I didn't realize Carroll was so dirty. Until the article THT linked, I thought he was just kind of looking the other way. This makes me think he must have known what was going on. USCw got what they deserved. Actually, they may have got off a little easy if there is more to this.

    ReplyDelete
  167. i remember quotes from carroll back in 2003-4 when he boasted about all the agents and celebs that were frequenting the sidelines of practice and the athletic facilities. talk about inviting the fox into the hen house... he has tried to maintain the strategy of plausible deniability but his legacy is crap now even though he has a few mncs. i believe the midget and universitah across the state operates under the same premise, 1000 mph toward winning until you crash and then deny everything. the system is apparently back to operating as it did under stallings and dumbose.

k, sorry to hear about the dog. our cat of 13 years was hit by a car 5 minutes after we got back from the beach 7/5. he had diabetes and was senile as hell. we now have 2 new cats that my kids picked out from the shelter.

sfc, your dog sounds a lot like mine. sheppard/collie mix here. i figure just hook a sheppard up with another dog and you'll probably get a winner.

  168. slime attracts slime

the similarities of both universities and the speed at which their star coaches accomplished their remarkable turnarounds has to make one wonder.
i cannot help but wish to hear what they said behind closed doors. pete probably told him to have is finger on the eject button at the first sign of trouble. recently, $aban own us to the way he handled leaving the fins. an olive branch for the next nfl payday.

i bet i could out coach both of them put together. as long as i could pay my players more than them.

    ReplyDelete
  169. and my apologies to hoop for the rampant speculation.

i've read quotes where moderators from uscw pay sites are saying they have heard of an ongoing ncaa investigation that makes uscw look tame. and it is not unc. the quotes are also on a pay site so i can't linky you guys. stay tuned...

I missed why Christion Jones is no longer considering Auburn? Report said he wanted to keep the reason to himself? What did I miss?

  175. Good morning all.

    Chip, just spill it already.

Cincy, Jones hasn't completely dropped Auburn, but it is unlikely that he will sign with us. Most people believe there are a lot of people close to him pushing him away from Auburn. It sounds similar to Region (without all of the weird stuff). We will be ok though. We are after (and will get) some really good DBs.

  182. I ate 50 raw eggs during Rat Week for induction into my high school sorority. I got a charm for my bracelet that said "Best Rat"! I think they have cut out all the vile stuff they made us do when I was inducted, thank goodness.

Although I did have to wash Mr. Cincy's car as part of it, which is when I met him. We started dating 2 months later, so it was all good.
