News of the day, 10/22
Hey everyone. Been getting several emails about the "dirty" hit on LSU's Glenn Dorsey. LSU fans mistakenly believe I have some stake in this argument. I do not. I thought it was an illegal and unnecessary hit. Taunting me about it just makes me laugh because I don't have allegiance to Auburn. I just write about Auburn. My allegiance is the the faithful HOTTIES who peep this site. One love!
We here at HABOTN headquarters thank you for visiting the HOTTEST Auburn blog on the 'net.
A reader emailed today correcting me about Bobby Hebert's alma mater. He did not attend LSU. He actually attended Northwestern State, but was at LSU Saturday presumably to watch his son, T-Bob Hebert, not play again. Realizing that Hebert's son is an LSU player really enriches Daddy's taunts toward Brandon Cox. I wonder if Hebert had been fine with me yelling for the Tigers to injure his son. He seemed so eloquent and pliable. I'm sure he'd have played along.
I must say that I was a little surprised that Auburn practiced on Sunday afternoon. This practice was no grueling fist-fight, but the team returned home around 3 a.m. Sunday. They got back around that time after the Arkansas game, which was late enough for coach Tommy Tuberville to give the players a rare Sunday off. Yet 3 o'clock wasn't too late this time. Not a huge deal, mind you, but I found the decision interesting nonetheless.
I also found it interesting that Lee Ziemba, Chaz Ramsey and assistant coach Hugh Nall weren't available for interviews on Sunday. Those two players were involved with the post-and-cut block applied to LSU's Glenn Dorsey last weekend. I know Nall pretty well and he's not one to cower from criticism. Tuberville wanted a consolidated voice on the issue. I still plan to get some reaction from Ziemba and Ramsey. I'm still not sure exactly why they did what they did.

The hit was dirty, but this blog is dirty hot. Like HABOTN hottie Pam from the Office.
The chop block was wrong, though I don't think it was planned. The helmet to helmet hit by their def back (Stelz I think) was just as bad to me. It was intentional and could just as easily hurt the Aub receiver as the chop block.
As far as the spot, I think that was a major break for LSU. If they mark that ball short, I feel LSU would have still gone for it on 4th down but the clock would not have stopped to move to the chains. LSU would have had to call their last timeout ( I think they only had one left ). With no timeouts left I don't think Miles takes a chance on that last pass.
Even though Auburn had a great chance to win the game, I feel the better team won. Without Robert Dunn, the young receivers had a tough time getting open and converting on third down in the 3rd and early 4th quarter. Their receivers made some huge catches in the second half.
Robert Dunn? Really?
You all see stuff that I don't with No. 3, which is entirely possible. We all have our different methods of evaluation. A guy who drops a lot of passes and isn't as fast as he thinks he is ... doesn't seem worthy of much attention.
Not ragging on you, Tex, because you're SO not the only person who thinks Dunn is an important part of the team.
Hey nola, I still haven't heard from Jenna Fischer yet, which is disappointing. The HABOTN also has calls out to favorites Julianne Moore, Megan Mullally and Rachel McAdams. I'm sure we'll hear any day now.
Ironic stat of the day:
LSU ranks 104th of 119 teams in Kickoff Returns.
I agree with you Jay. Robert Dunn is not anything special. In fact, from what I have seen, we don't have anything special at receiver. Hawthorne didn't do anything against LSU. Montez Billings looks decent, but doesn't look like he runs good routes. Rod Smith is slow. Brandon Cox doesn't have a lot of weapons at receiver.
Re: the ugly post and cut block
I'm not as sure as I was on Saturday night. At the time I thought it was planned. However, when viewing the replay, it looks bad...until you realize you're viewing a slow motion replay. At full speed, along with other plays of the game, Nalls' and Tuberville's explanation starts to make sense. Jason Bosley is attempting a similiar block on the other LSU down lineman. Pugh is blocking his man - Dorsey. The questionmark is Ziemba - why does he stand Dorsey up?
The answer is simple - Dorsey's movement is to Ziemba's left and there is no unblocked player to his right. His 'assignment' is either air or the all-SEC DL to his left. There simply IS no one else for him to block.
As bad as it looks, I have begun to doubt it was planned. We're talking two true freshmen here, just 10 months from playing High School ball. Are they that adept at blocking schemes and tricks to plan and execute such a play?
Like I said, I'm beginning to doubt my first impressions.
Anyone who knows anything about Lee Ziemba and his parents knows he's not a dirty player; they would bench him if he intentionally tried to hurt someone. It was a mistake in the heat of a play and it's unfortunate it happened.
That being said, the righteous indignation emanating from Les Miles and the LSU faithful rings hollow when you look at LSU players' actions on the field this season. Check this highlight reel from the South Carolina game and see two clearly intentional and vicious facemask tackles and an LSU player spearing a SoCar player late in the back of the neck/head as the Gamecock is on the ground.

What's that old saying about glass houses?
Does anyone really listen to LSU's rhetoric on this issue? Of course Miles is going to condemn it. Tuberville condemned it!
I don't think the hit was premeditated. Really, I don't. I don't think Ziemba went out there with instructions or plans to collude with Ramsey in an illegal post-and-chop.
Dorsey is fine. The Auburn kids got their ostracism (if you want to call it that) and that, to me, puts the issue to bed.
If we see that stuff again, though, you can bet it's going to be an ugly scene in the media.
Jay, I certainly didn't think that was an intentional play by Ramsey, regardless of what LSU says.
Now, as far as Robert Dunn goes: I haven't seen anything really special either. He runs more side ways than straight ahead on punts. You take away that catch against Arkansas, and he hasn't done much for the team. I'm usually holding my breath anytime he fields a punt.
With that being said, I still think we missed him Saturday. He would have given us a semi-viable option at the slot, and with his big catch against Ark, LSU would have to know where he was on the field. I think the reason he got suspended shows his selfishness. The team needed him in the biggest game to date. If anything, he would allowed us to have some consistency since he's been playing the whole year. Hawthorne missed too many big plays! Anyway, thanks for letting me post on the HABOTN!
Thank YOU for posting on the HABOTN.
