GAME DAY, Auburn at Georgia
Hey everyone. Let's get to business.
We're live from Sanford Stadium, located in the rolling hills of eastern Georgia. This is a nice place. I can gaze to the west and see the Tate Student Center. Those aren't my people, but it makes me feel important nonetheless.
As far as the team goes ... TB Tristan Davis isn't dressed out as predicted by coach Tommy Tuberville. Davis obviously will not play. Georgia was rumored to be breaking out black jerseys for this game. That's a rumor that came true. UGA is wearing black for the first time I can remember. Most fans are wearing black, too, which is pretty cool.
I heard Tuberville on one of these pre-game shows, a Georgia show, and he was asked about the Texas A&M. Tuberville said he "doesn't understand why my name keeps coming up" with these various (possible) job openings. I just have to roll my eyes. Look, I have no problem with using capitalism to your advantage. I do that. I'm just saying ... we all know why Tuberville's name comes up. He likes it that way.

Tubs needs to concentrate on getting his team prepared and earn his money THIS year, and quit marketing himself now for next year. This doesn't say much for him at all!
TUberville JUST WONT put in a backup QB unlike putting in other back up positions... so good, go lose TT. Even if for a couple minutes to see if we get a spark. How we can stop ARK McFadden and not MORENO is beyond me. No biggie, our season ended after MISS STATE. ANy one notice the CBS crew loving GA more? And if I hear Gary Danielson say "modern football" one more time I will be sick.
We need to find some "leapers" to play in the secondary to have much of a chance against bama ...
CBS commentators made a point of saying that AU was not built to make big plays/quick strikes on offense ... that may be somewhat valid, but I think a weak secondary being beefed up would help keeping us from having to rely on coming from too far behind.
Lemme get through a few of these.
Can't stop Moreno but can stop McFadden? I'll tell you why: Matthew Stafford. He beat Auburn DOWN with those long passes. Isn't it nice to see a quarterback who can throw deep with authority? That's what it looks like, Auburn fans. Been a while.
CBS is right by saying Auburn doesn't have a quick-strike offense. It's almost like a wishbone in that sense. No play-making wideouts. No threat of downfield throws. It's a slow, time-of-possession attack. It's not made to play from behind.
I aqm afraid Tuberville is back to his 4 loss season norms. Hope it changes next year. Still could have a 9 win season but that is ok if you are bottom 25 teams. Wonder what bowl we will go to. How frustrated Blake Field must feel.
Didnt ARK have a GA like QB too Jay?
Arkansas has Casey Dick, who really isn't very good.
Stafford = good.
Does anyone have the 2008 schedule? I think we have West VIrgina first off. I would like to beat them since I think they are over rated and play no one.
Jay..
You know this team. You've been around them for a while.
How do you think they'll respond after this loss? Will they close shop -or- come back stronger and mad as HELL?
War Eagle,
Reynolds Wolf
Hey Reynolds, its me Bill in Daytona. Are you going to get any grief in Atlanta with the loss? Any Dog fans at CNN? You know I am glad Florida lost to us.
Such an embarassing loss for Auburn. Wide receivers can't catch, quarterback can't throw downfield(or accurate for that matter), and our so-called great defense looked awful when they needed to come up big. Something is up with Tubby. Signs seems to point more and more that he is seriously considering this A&M job.
AS far as the A&M job goes ... look, Tuberville is going to be a tough sell there right now. He's 7-4 this season. One conference title in nine years. That's basically what A&M gets with Franchione most years.
I'm not trashing Tuberville, he's pretty good, but is he a $3 million guy? I really don't think he is and that game yesterday may have convinced A&M of the same thing.
WILL Auburn fold? I don't think so, but the problems that are undoing the team in general (offense play) aren't going away. It's still Cox. It's still that array of wideouts. That isn't changing.
Why arent our wideouts playing better? Most of those kids were prety highly ranked out of high school, right? Billings, Slaughter, Hawthorne, etc. were big recruits. Why are they not living up? Coaching?
And I agree with the HABOTN leader. Ark is one dimensional and easy to stop. UGA is not, and Stafford is a really good QB.
Jay G., You stress that Auburn's biggest shortcomings are lack of talent at QB and wideouts, and generally I agree with you. But what about the defense? Have they stopped anybody when the game was on the line? Even against Ark., LSU and Florida, Auburn's best games, the defense caved in late. At least Cox has bailed out the team with game-winning drives vs. Ark. Fla. and K State. I think Muschamp is still unproven.
AU Football Stuff I also noticed the biased Georgia comments from the analysts. But when we played like we did who came blame them. The biggest concern with our DB's is that they don't look for the ball. Pat Lee and Whilhite could have made plays if they look around for those balls like most DB's do. Hey Jay what do you have against Tuberville?
