News of the day, 11/25
Hey everyone. Only a month until Christmas. I know what Tommy Tuberville wants, though I'm not sure if he belongs on the "naughty" or "nice" list. I'm glad I don't have to make those kinds of decisions.He got his sixth win. That's a major accomplishment, one that will endear him to fans forever, but I'm not sure it's going to bump his salary beyond the $3 million threshold or anything. We'll just have to wait and see.

It doesn't sound like Tuberville is a candidate at Texas A&M at all. The Houston Chronicle reported today that Tuberville wasn't seriously considered at any point. The school apparently wants Houston Texans defensive coordinator Mike Sherman. That's news that Tuberville probably doesn't want out there a day before he talks things over with his boss.Oh, yeah. Tuberville and Jacobs are supposed to meet on Monday for their little pow-wow. If Tuberville is serious about staying, he probably will emerge from that meeting with some conclusive ideas about his long-term future at Auburn.Arkansas may end up as another job option for Tuberville. I'm still not sure on what will happen there. I hear that Houston Nutt wants out, wants that hefty buyout, so he can cash out and coach somewhere with less pressure. Some important administrators still are sold on Nutt, though, so that could be a weird situation. Not sure Arkansas is a step up from Auburn. I'm just passing along what I have heard.CB Jerraud Powers was bitten by a police dog during the Alabama game. I cannot tell you how angry I would be about this if I was Powers, Tuberville or anyone associated with university administration. Impossibly silly. I can see why K-9 units could be useful in certain situations, but guarding the goal post during the game probably isn't one of them. Cash money says this is a case of those law-enforcement guys wanting a good seat for The Big Game. Now the team's best defensive back has a puncture wound from being bitten by a dog during a game. How dumb is that?

Or are you moving on to Arkansas (yeah right) and LSU?
I'll "let it die" when Tuberville says he'll be Auburn's coach next season.

I guess nobody else had the "Sixth Sense"? I'm very disappointed. Tiger Rags wanted no part either.
I am glad a player did not fall or slide into that dog they could have been mauled. Kind of ironic considering the image of police dogs in this states history. Miss you on Mobile radio but respect the heck out of what you did.
The K9 officers may be enjoying the ringside view of the games, but it's not just for the 'big' game - they've been on the sideline the entire season. I'm sure one of the agencies suggested to game day operations that dogs would be an effective means of crowd control - both from the intimidation standpoint as well as being truly effective at taking down a spectator running across the field - and they just agreed without thinking about the possible downside. I'm betting that next season those officers will be more restricted in their field locations while the game is still in progress.

b.) I didn't mean to infer that the Iron Bowl was the first time K-9 units were at games. I've seen them all season. I meant "The Big Game" more metaphorically.
c.) I agree that police dogs will be more restricted in the future.

I would be mad too. The cop didn't even attempt to pull the dog back when it jumped at Powers. Powers was not threatening the dog, he had already turned his back. We were all like that policeman was an Alabama fan -lol. When was the last time we had people storming the field, when we beat Florida in 03? I'm pretty sure the cops didn't have to worry about that this game no matter what the outcome was.
How could you not get the 6th Sense? In other words, you saw it coming. Past tense now. Doesn't matter.
So if fans did storm the field they were going to use attack dogs? I understand bomb sniffing dogs but from what I hear that was just a local police dog.
who would storm the field anyway? after 5 in a row it's pretty boring.
