News of the day, 1/30

BIG NEWS: DL Jomarcus Savage, he of J.O. Johnson High fame, announced this morning that will sign with Auburn on Feb. 6. The word is that he'll be playing that Quentin Groves-style DE/LB hybrid position, but I'll believe it when I see it. He profiles best at end. He chose Auburn over Tennessee.

BIG NEWS AGAIN: DE Andre Wadley, he of Hernando, Miss., fame, announced this evening that he will sign with Auburn as well. That's two of the Tigers' top DL targets in six hours. He chose the Tigers over Tennessee and Mississippi State.

LSU 81, Auburn 80: LSU guard Marcus Thornton scored 38 points on 14-of-23 shooting. Nuts.

Hey everyone. Another day in the lush, tropical paradise that is lower Alabama. As you can see at left, the lovely Elizabeth Mitchell (known to most as "Juliet") reminds you that LOST returns on Thursday night. Oh yes. More on that below.

We're so gleeful that you're spending time with us here at the HOTTEST Auburn blog on the 'net.

Savage's commitment adds some significant luster to the Tigers' overall recruiting effort. The HOTTIES know, from reading the blog comments, that I think Auburn's recruiting haul is on par with what it usually lands on National Signing Day. Tommy Tuberville's group had a slow start, no doubt, but the (relatively) recent additions of DB T'Sharvan Bell and WR/TB Onterrio McCalebb and DT Charles Deas and now Savage have the Tigers back on track.

It won't be a nationally adored class. It never is.

We here at HABOTN headquarters have been known to watch, I don't know, every episode of LOST ever produced. And web clips. And other associated time-wasting endeavors.

The season 3 finale, which aired May 23, 2007, is called "Through the Looking Glass" and re-airs tonight on ABC at 8 p.m. That was the best LOST episode I've ever seen.

The season 4 premiere airs Thursday night at 8 p.m. A recap show begins at 7.

Eight new scripts were written prior to the writer's strike. All eight have been produced and are ready to roll. The show's producers have said the season should include at least eight additional episodes, but they can't begin making them until the strike ends and the writers resume their role in the magical process.

Below, I have included a link to an 8-minute recap of the entire series.

Jay,
I am pumped about 'Lost' coming back. Unfortunately, they have only made 8 episodes instead of the 16 it was supposed to be. This writer's strike is killing me. I can only take so many reality shows.

Do you ever check out Lostipedia? It answers a lot of my questions and raises new ones I hadn't thought of.

I try to stay away form Lostpedia because, as you note, it adds more questions and I don't need more questions.

Still, it's an excellent resource.

I hope they can get going on those final eight episodes asap. This strike needs to be resolved pronto.

I don't watch LOST, Elizabeth is hot. Is she on the show?

She's on the show ... a major player, too.

Bamaonline.com claiming Auburn has no chance with Jerrell Harris. They state it only "makes sense" for him to commit to their heavenly bed of concrete and Starkville, MS-like landscape of a town and program better known as the West Wing.

Auburn only recruits DL. We must be gearing up to use a ton of bodies since the new offense will be on and off the field so much.

Elizabeth Mitchell is super hot at times and just regular hot in other situations. Google her and you'll see what I mean.

Two good DTs: Absolutely. Auburn loves those linemen.

Told y'all ... another typical Auburn class. I don't understand the panic that enveloped some HOTTIES last week.

I mean, who wants a woman who is just regular hot? You know.

Man, I have never doubted Auburn's ability to attract exactly the kind of young men we want. The family thing ... they aren't making that up. It's real.

That was a horrible loss for the basketball team. Listened to most of the game. Auburn doesn't miss a free throw all night and then robertson has a one and one to possibly put Auburn up by 4 with 30 seconds left and misses the front end. That sucks. It sounded like they played good though. I predict a blow out on saturday. I am going to bet "the farm" on vandy.

Aside from Paul Little during Faulkner's NAIA title run in 2001, I've never seen a college player dominate a game like that.

38 points!

You might be thinking -- PLAY SOME DEFENSE. They did. Dude just shot over people.

As far as the jerrell harris thing goes, I wouldn't put any stock in what the Bamaonline guys are saying. Supposedly harris hasn't talked to anybody since returning from Auburn so how would those toolbags know anything? I could be dead wrong but i at least think Auburn has a shot.

Anybody know what Antoine McClain did to piss everybody off? I heard grades but i'm not buying that.

Yeah fishback said on the radio that robertson was on him pretty good but the ball would just bounce around and go in. He hit like five 3's to start the game and i immediately hated that guy.

more proof rivals is stupid: Jermaine Johnson just received his fifth star. He must have wrote a hell of a paper in prep school.

Yea, weird that Jermiane all the sudden is 5 star. However, he is not just the #1 prep OL. He's probably the #1 period. Tyler Love is a 5 star. That shows you how few good OL candidates there were this year. Not downing the kid (Love). He's just not 5 star material.

Everything I "hear" on McClain is grades and "something else". Couldn't be a sign and place problem since we're doing that as much as ever and at least two sign and place are on the board. L. Byrd would be going just about anywhere if he had anything remotely close to fair grades. So, I don't know what McClain did. It's faor to say he just pissed 'em off somehow.

Every single step of the way in McClain's recruitment has been a a smelly fart for all programs involved. What's his deal???

The funiest thing I hear is that since Auburn dropped him he's just going to "have to" go to UT. There so much below Auburn I guess in regards to national lure or respect.

im just salivating over the 08-09 bball team. Dollard, VOT, Hargrove, Sylla, Robertson, Barrett, Reed, et al. Lots of size, experience, and heart.

How bout AU's shooting the past 2 games? 50% form the field and close perfect from the stripe. I dunno what happened, but the free throw shooting is pleasantly uncharacteristic.

There is still time to have a strong finish to the season, but any postseason play looks out of the picture now.

Basketball team: Not out of it yet, but the schedule ahead is not very friendly. I don't see how the Tigers finish 7-9 or better in the SEC ... which is where they'd have to be for NCAA Tournament consideration.

Antoine McClain: I think this talk about Auburn "dropping" him is legit. He appears to be out of the picture rather suddenly.

Jay,
Any chance that Vot gets a medical redshirt this year? Lebo said last night even when he does come back, it will take a couple of weeks to back in the flow. Just think that if he could be redshirted and the season is already in the tank, why not do it?

8:48 AM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

I think the injury game for him, the Towson game, was the one that put him beyond the redshirt threshold.

He only played 8 minutes in that game. Maybe they can petition the NCAA for a special exepmtion.

Also, Lebo said on Wednesday night that Barber's wrist wasn't healing as expected and his return timetable had been pushed back a week.
