That stuff from Franklin...just sad.
It's belittling to the players. Really. Are you trying to tell me that HOOVER can run this offense and AUBURN CAN'T?@#$@?!!
I am not buying that.
doesn't make any sense to me either phred.
Would you think he "sounds" better in person or print?
it's more tolerable in person. but when you see in in print ... it just kind of nails it home. right in the gut. like a low blow.
was that really Reynolds Wolf?
In print, it sounds ridiculous.
In person, it sounds sad & degrading.
Jay G ... there is some good stuff getting thrown up on here. I think you should start a poster of the week. Rotate your quotes at the top with the best of the week. Which is kinda what you have started doing anyway. I'm saying I like it I guess.
Yea. Reynolds Wolf from CNN. He's a HOTTIE.
I think the CBS crew is as well. I'm telling you, it sounded like they had read the entire last week in the hotel room the night before.
I'm sure people from the networks read. They read all kinds of blogs.
I get a lot of hits from New York City and Bristol, Conn.
Newspapers may be dying -- I may not have a job next year by the way things are going in this industry -- but newspaper reporters generally provide the most unbiased coverage around. When you're on TV, you need unbiased information.
They just need to add a few ads to all of your pages to pay for your salary. None of that subscription crap.
When Franklin gets fired (if he hasn't already), he should lead a new company called Morons are us.
Actually, he did say the product WAS mine. Maybe he has been fired.
Subscription? Not happening.
As far as Franklin's comment about how it was his offense, maybe this will clear it up for you:
``Well, I mean, there’s the quote Tony Franklin Offense that I’ve run most of my adult life, since the Kentucky days of being able to go and freely do whatever. And then work with different high schools throughout the country and do all that stuff, but this is definitely not that. We’re having to try to adjust. We’re trying to adjust what these guys can do."
you really need to listen to danielson's comments about the offense and Todd. It was almost like listening to a drunk fan comment on every throw. He was hammering Todd.
I hear you all and I think Kodi is an intriguing player, too.
It's just that I don't think Todd should have been yanked. He wasn't the problem. He can't dig 'em out of 2nd-and-15 or 1st-and-20 all the time.
Burns rolled in there and accomplished less. His final pass was a highlight. His first drive was strong.
Everything else? Just Some Guy.
If he's going to be Just Some Guy, Franklin would rather play someone who will run the play that's called and run it correctly.
Take the shirt off of Trotter then. He has run this same offense for four years. He can run and he can pass.
A couple of points:
These offensive linemen were not recruited to AU to block for the spread, so it's not surprising that they are having a hard time adjusting to it.
Ben Tate is a proven north-south runner, not east-west.
Will CTF be this year's version of the David Gibbs Experience?
Tuberville on Trotter:
"Right now, bringing a young guy in that's new that hasn't been at this level of ball at that position would just set us that much farther behind. We've got two guys that have a little bit of experience that we feel like can get the job done. Unless we have some injury, we won't be looking to (Trotter) until next spring."
Wow. So this is the Baltimore Ravens. Hopefully we can continue to win as they did.
Something tells me that UGA is going to light us up. When Stafford started throwing last night he was sick.
He will be a great NFL QB and he is going to light us up. That said. I will cheer and cheer.
My prediction is we will finish 9-3 and possibly 10-2. A very good year still. I hate Bama. Can't stand the thought of losing to them.
Looks like it could happen this year though.
Hell, what am I saying. Vandy may torch us.
Again, the question needs to be asked. Highschool offenses all over the place can run this offense supposedly. I am to believe that they are more capable than a college team, which is supposed to represent the elite of the highschool pool? REALLY? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
I guess we just don't have the athletes that Hoover does?
Come on Frankie ... what's the real problem here?
JGT,
CTT is always big on chemistry, it seems that there is a noticable divide on the team. What are your observations. I hope that it does not turn into UAT for the last few years, especially last year...
I think you are on to something anon. I saw a lot of players shaking their heads on the sidelines. Also saw some "what the ... are you looking at" going on.
I'd be ready to quit if I was a defensive player.
The players say there's isn't a divide.
Zac Etheridge admitted to some "frustration" today, but that doesn't seem unreasonable. Wouldn't you be frustrated as a defensive player right now? They score as often as the offense.
1. Jay-G: Nice editing/transition between TF and PR.
2. We, the fans/bloggers are a (if not the) primary reason for the Kodi/Todd "problem." We all want to be great, and to win every game. Neither gives us both. Todd plays to quench our -- and the coaches/players -- thirst to win today, at the expense of tomorrow.
In their situation, 90% of us would do the same thing: Play Todd. Because if you didn't, and Kodi lost you 4-5 games this year while he progressed, you'd get to watch some other coach reap your salary and victories for bringing Kodi along.
3. Jay-G, how similar is this situation to Dan Cobb v. Jason Campbell?
4. I agree with Anon. Bama sketched the blueprint to beat UGA: Get up 31-0.
Because UGA is loaded with talent, and when they clicked, they were scary. I fear Bama just beat the best team on their schedule.
I can't see AU being that team this year (even if we do beat them).
It's similar to Campbell/Cobb.
I would expound, but I'm tired. I'm headed home. I'll check back after a bit ... and will be at the Montgomery QB Club meeting tomorrow at high noon.
The guest: Auburn coach Thomas H. Tuberville
Jay,
I really respect your opinion, but I don't understand your thoughts on Todd. Are you saying that he is so fragile that he could not recover after getting pulled for 2 series?
The fact is that he has played 3 SEC games and led the team to 3 TD's. The failures can not all be attributed to penalties and poor blocking. Gary Danielson was spot on about everything he said yesterday. The guy knows football, and I think he was flabergasted by what he was seeing out of our offense when Todd was in.
I don't know if Kodi is the answer, but I honestly don't know how he could be any worse.
Jim, congrats on the engagement first of all.
Secondly, I completely agree. Todd gets pulled for two series and then he gets rattled. Kodi has one bad series against Southern Miss and he gets put on premanent backup duty. Yet he isnt allowed to be "excitable" when he gets on the field.
So basically, Todd gets his feelings hurt and everythings okay. Kodi gets a total screw job and he's not allowed to let it affect his performance.
"Frustrated"?
I say every defensive player should get one night with every offensive players girlfriends, kind of like BRAVEHEART>...which was quoted here earlier.
Please tell me you watched the game Jay. Please.
To say C. Todd shouldn't have been yanked after the decisions he was making is absurd. He threw out of his endzone into double coverage and got lucky but not so on his HEAVE over the middle....The CBS guys were tearing itapart.....which I appreciate.
Chris Todd doesn't have the talent to win a championship on this level. PERIOD. He couldn't start at ANY OTHER SEC team besides MAYBE Miss St.....maybe.
But I think this scheme could work but not with an idiot calling the ZONE READ with this schmuck and expecting a running game to get on track.
Bottomline, the dfinition of insanity is doing the exact same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
Chris In Inverness
who thinks Sen Derrick and AC go pro next year? I would not stick around with this offense looming.
I have heard that Neil Caudle performed better at the final fall scrimmage than ANY other QB. Anything you can add to that Jay G.?
