Early Monday business
Hey everyone. Congratulations to Jet, who makes our "Featured Quote" section of the HABOTN. I got a great laugh out of that one. Fellow beat hack and slow writer Charles Goldberg of the Bammerham News also enjoyed it.

Jay,
What is Powers's health? 80%, 90%?
Could you ask him?
just faxed in my order.
Wow - Jay G. even helps hotties with their Aubie Social Calendar! Where else do you get that kind of service? No dang where - that's where.
I posted this on the other thread but I didnt see this new one:
Oh well thanks for the advice/non-advice guys. Monica I like the 'fain illness' idea. I'm seriously considering that one.
On the OC front, I'm hearing the name Chuck Long come up. Former OC at OU and immediate past HC for SDSU. Any thoughts on that Jay?
I'd say Powers is 90%+ by now.
Faker - Can I get a ride from you to the Beat Bama Bash?
Can we please ask Tubbs not to say this was our best practice? Just slip a note to say, this practice was awful and we have NO chance Saturday. I would feel beter about our chances Saturday.
FSJ ... can we get a sledgehammer and sell swings at your car at the Beat Bama Bash?
Thanks, Jay.
Added a new blog entry below this one.
It's the "Bike Hero" video I discussed a few days ago. It's mesmerizing.
Big Cat ... try the straight on, honest approach.
"Honey, I love you ... but I don't think it's a good idea to watch the game with your dad and grandpa. I love your family too much to do that, and I don't want anyone to get upset. No one wants a family fuss.
"So how about I head home to watch the game, and do some other chores, then I'll come get you early Sunday. Hey, gas is cheaper now, so it's not that big of a deal. The only problem is that I won't see you so dressed up for the wedding. But, hey, you're always beautiful to me."
See if that works for you.
Tell Bud to take a shower.
You're suggesting he even HINT at the idea that there MAY be some fault with her precious family? That's like a one week "discussion". She'd be bringing that up for the next 10 years.
I know you're kidding because you're Jet.
Illness - add fever.
Just say no to drama. And I don't mean Johnny.
Listen to Monica, she's a professional.
I am, admittedly, an idiot. Except that I don't watch games with Bama fans.
And I cancelled a party that my wife scheduled several years ago that would have involved such.
I heard about it for a while until I quoted the Good Book:
"Evil companions corrupt good morals."
Jet that just might work! It's honest, non-confrontational, and non-accusatory...brilliant! Are you a marriage and family therapist?
NO, NO, NO.
Monica is... but I think if you tweak plan, it could work. Monica's is more fool proof.
Make yourself out to be the bad guy ... because in her family's eye, you are. Have been. And always be.
Monica, is that right?
Anyone hitting "Chinese Democracy" ... Guns n Roses' new album?
I listened on iTunes and was intrigued.
Aub? Why not just call us Barners?
Sorry, it's Hate Week. I'm a little bit on edge.
It depends on what you want.
Do you want a discussion on how you feel about her family or do you just want to get out of the game?
If you go with the "honest" approach, please film it so we can enjoy it later.
Yes Monica...you can ride with me to the bash...Hope you don't mind being strapped to the hood.
Jet, you can swing whatever you want at my car for your bash. My car is insured....by Nick Saban.
:-)
Jay, I've been listening to GNR's remake that they didn't released in time for this season, missing a wonderful marketing opp:
Welcome to the Bungle.
Faker - kinky. I'm in.
Well I think in her family's eyes I am a somewhat reformed bad guy. We had our heated exchanges pre-wedding. Now after 2.5 years of marriage we're trying to mend family fences and making good progress. Imagine that kind of drama between AUB/UA fans and it not being about football. lol
But my wife understands her family's disfunctionality very well. I'd just hate to see this years IB undue so much progress.
Alright, Jim.
I'll use a more standard nomenclature.
While I understand Monica's questioning of the strategy, and acknowledging that she's a professional, and I've only got slap marks and bruises for my attempts at negotiating the marital minefield, my 20 years of experience says, if you love your wife, be honest with her.
Because if you don't have trust, you don't have much of a marriage.
The key to a successful marriage is not unlike that of a football team ... keep people in situations where they can't get in trouble.
Coach Dr. Jet.
Monica...i'll definately give the hotties a report on this.
Well Jet your 20 trumps my 2.5. I'm trying to get where you are...lead on Coach!
Chuck Long would be an interestig choice for OC... and ironic. He finished second in the closest Heisman ballot ever - to Bo Jackson. Can you imagine standing on the sideline and looking up at the scoreboard with Bo's image on it?
One question I have though is how early is too early to cut out? We're leaving tomorrow to hit ATL with her mom then Wednesday afternoon driving to T-Town with her dad. Can I leave Thurs night heading home or did I have to wait until Friday morning?
Chuck Long would be interesting. His record at SDSU was pitiful though. That kinda scares me but maybe he just couldnt grasp being the head man.
What an interesting site. Auburn football and in-law drama. It's Dr.Phil's Auburn Blog.
I hate I am gonna miss the Beat Bama Bash in the Gump - Me and MrsFR are going to the hoops game -Jay we will come say hey - Hey Marcellus Mostella - you got any eligiblity leftover from the 90's we could use you for the Bama game.
Oh and Jay, yes will probably get the new GNR cd
Just faxed my order as well. Sorry. I was so out of it last week because I had to be in Mobile on business
Jay are you going to the AUB bash? The biscuit and Mrs. Biscuit will be in attendance...
Definitely wait, Big Cat. Spend the most possible time before taking your leave.
Aubie ... we're here for each other ... it's the other guys who shoot people in trailer parks.
Just faxed my order.
Jay G.,
I picked up the G&R CD yesterday afternoon. I have listened to probably the 1st 4 songs and I like it so far.
A lot of guitars on this album.
It's funny in the liner notes there are 5 pages of credits & thanks due to all the people who have worked on this album over 14 years.
I'll let you know after a couple of listens what I think about the whole album, but I like it so far.
On to Auburn stuff...
Any chance we will be able to at least get close to a stalemate at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball vs Alabama? I see our only chance at victory being not getting pushed around at the line.
biscuit, i liked the note on your fax:
CONFIDENTIAL DOCUMENT-For the use of SCOTTIE B ONLY. Please delete immediately afer use.
is this mission impossible? poof! j/k. funny.
thanks to everybody for getting this stuff in to me. the hotties are a most impressive bunch i say!
I just shot you an e-mail Scottie...
Faker, be nice.
Scottie B,
Faxed mine this morning as well, you get it?
Scottie,
I mailed mine in on Saturday.
I am still not sure why the Beat Bama Bash is on the same night as a home basketball game.
Who on here will be going to the game this week?
gotcha FrontRim. i've had 18 hotties get their payment in so far.
it looks like we're on schedule to have shirts shipping out early next week! i'll keep yall updated.
Scottie
My order was picked up by the mail lady this morning ..should arrive before you can say blueberry pie...
This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
was hoping to get it beofre the IB..you know if AU wins I may have never taken the shirt off...guess it's a good thing it'll be next week. I've already been whereing the same shirt for 6 years..kinda starting to smell..
We are not going to the game, I have to work on Thanksgiving, so we are having it on Sat with the family and then the Auburn fans are going to one house and the Bama fans to another, then we will get back together for leftovers and talk about the game.
I am kneeling before my autographed picture of Saban as we speak..praying to him for mercy and that the 6 years of dominating bama be forgiven and that maybe jsut maybe he could allow AU to understand "the system." So thanks for the post Carl I almost forgot being the heathen that I am
Way to go Carl. Solid post.
When did Saban start coaching USC?
Eddie, I'll be at the game Saturday. Will you?
Thanks for stopping by, Carl.
MrsFR
Now you know that if the other team wins Daddy Phil aint gonna let the bad fans of the family in his house!
Oh Lawdy please don't let me be sent to eternal unhappiness. I promise not to talk about Saint Saban again. And please give all of the credit to Carl for showing me the light, even if that light is glaring off of the tin roof of his single-wide.
On a side note, War Eagle everyone! Stay behind the boys and cheer hard Saturday wherever you are. Myself and a fellow alum are getting together up here in the great white north known as Michigan for the game.
Carl,
In the future, please direct your posts to Hoopie or Monica.
TIA,
FSJ
And my wife wonders why I would choose Auburn over her beloved Tide. Thanks, Bama Carl, for reminding both me and her why said choice was made.
Just win- Nope, it is only the second Iron Bowl I have missed since 1995. The other one ironically is 2002. This game is very similar to that one in the leadup. Hopefully the same results are produced.
I don't think that was really Carl. I think it was Tim pretending to be Carl.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, that Tim is a rascal!
Michael, I concur...
Brad- Watching from Michigan? Interesting. Family or residence?
Sorry Scottie. I have been a victim of Identity Theft before so due to the information disclosed on the fax sheet I didn't want to have anything happen.
eddie,
Auburn had an NFL QB in 2002.
Biggest difference I see in 2002 & 2008.
FSJ- WE were decimated with injuries in 2002 if I recall and that NFL QB was being coached down by the same Offensive Coordinator we again have today. I'm just trying to grasp at straws here. Everything in the world says that we shouldn't win this game, but you never know. Just remember, that Tubs has never lost to both Alabama and Georgia in the same year, but I know there are first times for everything.
The Last Six Years
By - Mr. Sensible
In this holiday season, I, as a mere fan, am thankful for the last six wins over arch-rival Alabama. I realize every streak comes to and end, but as a loss looms heavy on Saturday's horizon, I look back and wonder - Did I enjoy this?
Here's a sample of the excuses (in italics)I have heard from Alabama fans after the last six.
2002 Luck. Who knew Tre Smith could run?!? (I have a hard time arguing this one. It was a surprise.)
2003 Shula is young, the team is young, AU rallied around Tubby who was about to get run. (I have to say, it was a fun game to watch, but I left the stadium with more questions than answers.)
2004 Well, even AU at your best could only win 21-13. And that lack of style points cost AU in the BCS. (I hate hearing this because I think the whole style points argument is ridiculous.)
2005 Shula is an idiot - part 1. (I had a Honk if you Sacked Brodie sticker torn off my wall later that year by a Bama fan.)
2006 Shula is an idiot- part 2. And the refs should have called a penalty on that monster neck sack by Groves on JPW.
2007 Saban needs time for the process. And the refs should have called a penalty on that pick in the endzone.
So, as you can see, these six years of "bragging rights" haven't wrought much at all. I find comfort in the fact that the smack can't possibly be much worse when Alabama actually wins a game against Auburn.
To borrow lines from Jim Fyffe and Rod Bramlett:
My time is up, I thank you for yours. So long, everybody.
Nice post Sensitive with the six year retrospect. I haven't given up the dream for 7 yet, but still nice.
2004 stands out for me because that is when I learned that Bama had apparently resorted to living off of moral victories and I absolutely loved that. Personally, though, 2002 trumps all, only to be replaced by 2008 this Saturday.
Sensible, not sensitive. My bad. No harm, no foul.
Sorry, Eddie, but it was Bobby 'Turncoat' Petrino coaching JCam in 2002, not Ensminger.
it's all good biscuit. it was pretty funny, though. your identity is safe with me. ;)
carl can correct me if i'm wrong but i don't believe that bama has beaten auburn in tuscaloosa for well over a century. just sayin'...
you know, I throw around a lot of false Auburn confidence on these here message boards, but darn it, I will seriously be surprised if we lose this game. I know there is no reason we should win, but we have been winning for 6 years... that loss in '01 seems like ages ago. I am not prepared for a world where Auburn loses to Alabama. As such, I expect to win this Saturday, and any other result will be a shock.
defense needs to produce turnovers and sacks if we are to have a chance. (imo).
fellas, if you pay attention to Carl (ie Tim pretending to be a bama fan), then it becomes al.com boards. Just make fun of the way he looks and his family situation and stuff like that, but no real mine is bigger than yours lines and all that bama-auburn crap. This HABOTN, not 'nam. There are rules.
I don't get why bama says the 6 were under "mitigated circumstance."
LMAO Josh
Anything that makes them feel better about losing.
"WE were decimated with injuries in 2002 if I recall and that NFL QB was being coached down by the same Offensive Coordinator we again have today."
Eddie,
Actually Petrino was our OC in 2002 and Campbell did very well under him when he finally got a chance to play.
Seriously? That's the only explanation y'all can give me? I mean I hear it EVERY time they talk about losing to us 6 times. Some caller just said it and Doug and Josh agreed. So, please explain it to me.
RK & Michael4au- Yepp, definite mis-speak on my part. You kinda get the years rolled into one another when you win that many in a row.
I agree Michael. OVER THE LINE! They must roll on Shabbos.
If you will it Dude, it is no dream.
Michael, I'm the new kid on the block here -- who is this "Tim" that you're talking about in connection with "Bama Carl"?
Whenever you see a post by Anonymous, it is actually Tim. He is a lazy chap who won't register and is a bit of a schizo. He is responsible for some of the more outlandish statements found at HABOTN
Sometimes from someone's tone of voice, I get a feeling it is just Tim here to mess with us. That Carl guy, not only does he sound like a sex offender with a record, he also sounds like Tim.
Bama Carl...Who is barn?
The secret to a good marriage is two words: yes dear.
As for Carl Bama, he appears to be a refugee from al.com, but I don't think he is faking since he portrays that Bama class so well.
As for our lines matching up, I think our defensive line matches up with the Bama offensive line as good as anyone, but it is going to be tough stopping that Bama running game.
Our offensive line against Bama's defensive line will likely be rough unless our players have recovered from the Franklin System and gained about 20 pounds each.
The above post is me. Bama Carl.
Big Cat ... You are over looking one possibility. You may have the opportunity to quietly, but very proudly, GLOAT LIKE HELL!!!
BEAT BAMA!!!
Bama is about to enter into a world of pain...a world of pain.
UAT pretzel logic:
"It's not our fault that the NCAA put us in NCAA jail for cheating, because Roy Kramer and Phil Fulmer conspired to expose us for the cheaters we are, and that our ADs have been buffoons, and that our coaches until The Great Satan -- uh, Saban -- were idiots."
Splain this to me, because I'm not that smart: How did UT, Florida, LSU and the rest of the league manage to lose to UAT at one point or another during the stretch?
Here's the mitigation situation: you got your head handed to you for six straight years. It may end Saturday. May not. Either way, save me the mitigation crap because it's pure, unadulterated fertilizer.
Bama Carl, no need to explain. The class you show in your posts are very revealing.
You'd think after the last 6 years the Dark Pink fans would wait until they actually won the game before talking this loud...could you imagine what they would say if they actually lost? I'm quite looking forward to that.
The best excuse I have heard from Bama fans about 2002 was that fran had already decided to leave. Bama had the better team. Fran was a master at game planning. That year, Bama was vanilla while NAll had us in a great game plan.
As I recall Nall said, this was the first game where he was allowed to Run his offense.
2003-2006 Auburn out-coached Bama. Plain and simple.
Last year we are the better team. Better team wins most of these.
Oh no, Tim ,say it ain't so. Whatever shall I do with myself if Auburn loses Saturday? All my dreams destroyed, you say? Tragic, tragic.
Bama Carl said...
The above post is me. Bama Carl.
wow. who needs dna with conclusive identification like that?
Bama Carl,
Welcome to the HABOTN. This is a place for rational discussion.
You are welcome to post here, and even gloat should your team win Saturday. But take a page from your Bama brother, Fake Steve Jobs.
Don't just spew hate. Bring some content.
Yours Truly,
Mr. Sensible
Michael for AU. - I am all for bravado; but, like Jay, I am at about 15% on us winning.
I have a dream where all races will live in harmony. Is Saban going to crush that dream? So Nick Saban is a racist? What a jerk.
Michael ...
I have a dream where our posts will be judged by the character of their content, rather than the content of their character.
Otherwise, I'm hosed.
Wrong Mark..
Petrino was the OC in 2002.
Bana Carl, the drive thru is backing up, get back to work.
I had a dream in which Alabama had a solid football program, oh wait, looks like Saban is going to crush that one too.
Eddie -
I currently live in Michigan. Been here about three years now, but am planning on moving back South soon. The three inches of snow that we get here is getting tiresome.
Just remember, Alabama has never been able to defeat the Nallsminger offense.
Ha Ha!
Funny Barners!
Your dreams of ever mattering in the SEC again are what I'm referring too!
Nutt has passed you by at Ole Miss.
The Mad Hatter has passed you at LSU.
Petrino will soon be passed you at Arky.
And Saban and the Tide reign supreme!
I had a dream too..
Had nothing to do with football..
Had lots to do with Cindy Crawford...
Hey! Faker hates on me all the time! Y'all give him too much credit!
So after seeing the posts come through, is AU even fielding a team in '09? Are we moving down to DII? Do we give UAT the title for this year and next? I think that gives 45 doesn't it? Did make anyone a better person? You gonna show up for work and say we won a national title, give me a pay raise or I quit?
Get a life Tim. Bring something worth discussing.
Carl,
Could you mosey back over to al.com
You are giving me a bad name here..
TIA,
FSJ
FSJ, I do hope you are taking in all of that Bama class that Carl is spreading. It warms my hearts to think that Bama fans still haven't learned.
B.C. (Bama Carl):
"Ever."
Remember, it was your program that went from SEC champions, to ranked preseason No. 3 to 3-8 in a matter of months.
Ever is a long time, particularly in Tuscaloosa.
Nice post Faker. I liek your style.
Should be like your style.
my hands are too cold to type today.
Sorry Mark, but that was Coen Brothers comedic genius rather than bravado. Just having some fun. I don't really believe in labeling chances of victory with a percentage, but here goes: there are two teams playing on Saturday, so I will go with 50% on us winning.
Steve from Columbia,
You can go to Tiderinsider and see the same stuff coming from the other side. All part of the rivalry.
Neither side has the patent on idiots.
Gettin' warm in here today ...
Confirms my suspicion:
HABOTN = True cause of global warming
Is it too early to request the BANHAMMER for B.C or am I just hoping for my own sanity?
Isn't fun when the Beelzebubbas come out to play?
No offense, FSJ.
FSJ-just asking, but what is the main difference between this is the and that other site you mentioned? aside formthis one is dedicated to AU the other isn't.
Are the Hotties very obnoxiuos in their remarks about UAT? Not sure about the other site as I have never been there.
Just asking?
Brad, I am certain when Jay G returns that Carl will be sent to the digital oblivion. Unfortunately, it may also mean we have to go to only registered users posting here. It is sad to be restrictive, but when the bidiots should up, steps have to be taken.
I like this place better when the Carl's of the world don't invade. Too bad Jay doesn't have a banhammer for the blog comment section.
eddie, I believe you can ban blog comments, but only if you require users to be registered to comment.
wtc,
Tiderinsider is a pay Alabama message board, sorta like the pay side of ITAT or the Rivals Auburn site.
There are several opponent fans that pay to post on that site and stir up trouble. You can usually find them whenever things aren't going well. They've been relatively quiet this year.
C'mon kids ...
Ol' Bull Crap -- I mean, Bama Carl -- serves a useful purpose ... gets us fired up for practice during game week.
It's like posting a cheesy photo in a locker reminder UAT of losses to Mississippi State and LAMO.
Every day, I have to fight off going soft, thinking we can co-exist peacefully.
We can't. Every cowboy movie needs a dude with a black hat. We like FSJ too much for him to be that guy.
We got Carl. So at least we got that goin' for us.
One other thing...
I've found the hotties to be very welcoming.
There's only one that I have noticed that had anything smart to say to me. Therefore, I don't respond to Kristina any more...
:-)
Jet:
I've always wanted to wear the black hat...
I look too much like Boss Hogg in the white one..
There are Auburn fans just as obnoxious as any Bama fan. Or do you forget how many people booed Brandon Cox last year, or the people that booed Daniel Cobb when he was announced on senior day after being demoted earlier the season? I know we like to pretend we are holier than thou, but i imagine there are a few moron auburn fans who do the same thing on bama boards.
HABOTN is good though.
Hey gang,
Let's not kill BC.
He's just gloating.
Ignore it.
From this day forward let it be known that anyone that makes repeated idiotic posts on here should now be referred to as "Carl".
Steve- Then maybe we should all be required to register, but I would hate to miss comments from people like marcellus_mostella.
That'll really bother Tim to be called Carl. Serves him right though for posting stupid stuff from time to time.
eddie, I don't like the idea of posting being restricted either, but Carl demonstrates how somewhere like this can become a useless waste of time where kids make silly posts and the actual discussions become impossible.
Thanks FSJ- I thought this site was mostly tame compared to either of the pay sites or the al.com sites. I know we rag some on you, but we usually keep it respectful as do you with your retorts.
BTW-Carl, is that your skateboard parked outside.
Let the record show I am against registration. HABOTN wouldn't be the same without Tim.
Uhm...I'm Tim and I'm not this Bama Carl dude.
Fire Tubs! War Eagle!
Not to go all libertarian on you, but I'm a free speech guy. I don't have to like it, I can argue with you about or just call you a moron and walk away.
I registered to gain your credibility, but not your permission.
My name is Jet and I approve this message.
Oh...This site is very tame. Jay does a good job of setting the tone..
Disagreements, IMO do not equal flames.
I am perfectly happy discussing why I think this or that will happen in a game...even if it goes against the prevailing sentiment.
Tim always comes thru with solid post.
Faker, I thought we were tight in our bama fanedness.. Now my dreams really are crushed.
Okay, maybe anonymous posters should be referred to as Tim or Carl based upon the content of the post. Seems fair enough:)
FSJ, My bad on 2002. I misremembered. I am getting old (45).
Michael 4 AU. I would love for us to win; but, and I think we will put a great foot forward; but, this year's team needs a period to find itself and find an offense.
As much as I think Franklin was bad, I am now concerned Rhoads may not have been the best choice either.
We need to re-think and mold ourselves into another 2002 team.
oops. 2004 team.
Sorry Kristina,
I was feeling the urge to throw someone under the bus.
I gladly accept the responsibility.
you stay comfortable hunting and pecking behind that keyboard there Carl..this is the last time I acknowledge your non sense
I still think this offense isn't bad, it is just misunderstood. I think, as with the Georgia game, we will play respectably and have a shot at winning in the end.
I have a new top secret plan for out problems in the redzone. Anytime we get in the redzone, we have Ziemba do his illegal motion thing to get us out of the danger area. This play has worked repeatedly in the past, and we can then open the offense up.
Sorry, you all.
I was on my way to work and couldn't catch dude quickly. We have eliminated anonymous posting for the moment; sucks for crudup and fsj (who sometimes posts without being logged in) but that's where we are.
Shouldn't be a big deal. Many of the HOTTIES are registered anyway.
Stay classy, San Diego!
Man, I knew this was coming. I don't consider all bad though. Being registered does help. In this way everyone can be like me. I stand by all the mis-statements that I make.
So BC now steps into the analysis zone ... which is fine.
I've always found those types of analyses useless because Kodi isn't competing directly against JPW. That's not Carl's fault as sports writers have done this for eternity.
The question is how effective UAT's OL is against AU's DL, and AU's OL vs. UAT's DL, WRs vs. DBs, and kicking game matchups.
To me, the game comes down to whether UAT is successful running the ball. If it does, game over.
If not, then it gets interesting.
I will not be denied...
Mark,
I remember 2002 all too well....
If that happens this year, y'all will be able to find me over in the corner, in a fetal position, sucking on a bottle of tequila, mumbling incoherently.
Apparently someone from AL.com found their way onto this board for a little while.
Super.
I actually didn't mind Carl's last post. I thought we were actually turning that guy around. Another HABOTN success story!
Tim just emailed me, and he is pretty angry right now about being banned. I guess he wasn't Carl after all.
FSJ- We only intend to deny you this coming Saturday. Other than that, you have free reign.
Jet G. Ate, I agree. How well we stop that Bama running game will decide this Iron Bowl. Our defense is good, but we have shown vulnerability against the run.
Any announcements on when services will be held for the late Bama Carl. I have to say that we barely new him. Rest in peace Bama Carl.
FSJ, I am glad to see you won't be denied. We need a counterbalance to my unrealistic optimism.
After deep thinking over that the "Live to Punt" comment, I am convinced we are installing the Mike Shula offense for the Bama game. It is a fairly simple system that can be learned quickly, three handoffs to the tailback up the middle followed by a punt. Please keep this under your hat. I don't want the gameplan to be leaked.
I didn't even know FSJ is a Bama fan..huh?! well you're a pretty cool guy to hang with us AU fans..so I am assuming that Bama doesn't have an HABOTN equivalent?? ofco nothing compares to this HABOTN but surely there is a blog for reasonable, generally intelligent blogging for the bama nation??
I thought the Shula offense was to have the QB do a 3 step drop and the linemen release on every play like it's a screen pass.
I can now reveal to you that Auburn will unveil a new offensive attack Saturday.
It's the SAD Spread, which stands for Stretch And Draw from the spread formation.
No HABOTN equivalent on the Bama side.
:-(
sorry for ya FSJ...why do you think that is?(no equivalent of the HABOTN for bama?)
All this talk about the Mike Shula offense is giving me indigestion.
Additionally, I'm hearing from my UT pals that Kiffin may be the new UT coach as soon as next Monday.
Shocking to me, because I thought they would make a serious run at Davis.
Not sure...Seems to be an opportunity to have a good Bama blog similar to this one.
I generally read Tiderinsider for my Bama fix.
I think Jay should do a Bama blog for the few weeks he will be covering the Tide this postseason..
Great idea, if I do say so myself. he wouldn't even have to change the HABOTN...
ehehehe.
I am interested now..what makes a seemingly smart, well versed, bama fan hang out here? We are pretty reasonable and tend to avoid the ugliness but aren't you getting some orange and blue on ya..can you be swayed FSJ..??
is Jay even an AU fan..I mean he graduated from Kentucky?
Actually, I read three message boards..
Tiderinsider, ITAT, and an SEC centric message board. There are a few posters on ITAT that I pay attention to....One of them linked this blog a couple of months ago so I started following it. I just happened to navigate over during a campfire one night, so I jumped in. Everytime I try to leave, Monica or hoopie begs me to stay, so I guess y'all are stuck with me.
wartiger- not only is FSJ getting some orange and blue on him, he is also going to be wearing it.
Jay's not a fan ... it's not his job to be a fan ... he's a journalist ... I'm not speaking for him, but I would presume the blog is a way to do three things:
1. report things that there's not room in the paper for
2. A way to report things on a moment's notice basis instead of waiting until the next day's paper.
3. interact with readers to find out what's important to them about their team, which is the one he's assigned to cover.
LOL...Like I said the other day, it will be the only thing I own with orange in it...
Ian Rappaport has a blog on al.com, but I much prefer the format of this one.
Well thought out, IMO.
Will jay be starting the HESPNBOTN soon?
Yes, but the name will be the SEEYASUCKERS blog..
That will be when he move up to the big time at ESPN.
I love my seersucker suit.
I prefer my silk purple pimp suit.
I'm not an Auburn fan.
That's not my role.
so it's Kentucky then right? would you do anything differently if this was the HKBOLN? You do an outstanding job here Jay just so you know..
HKBOTN*
Eddie - bout time I saw some anti-bama avatars.
I don't really care about Kentucky. I used to 12 years ago. This job dilutes interest, I guess you'd say.
Jay, I am serious disappointed by your professionalism. Didn't you learn anything from Jim Fyffe? There is a place for unbiased journalism, but this ain't it. You now live in the state of Alabama, which means that you must choose. It is mandatory. I think it is required for voter registration as well.
well I think I am going to think of you as the ultimate AU fan..bringing info..apparell..and the best blog around Jay..WAR EAGLE!! BEAT BAMA!!
I'll admit, it's been hard for me to remain a die-hard UK enthusiast since moving to Alabama. I still follow them and pull for them, but not nearly as rabidly as I did when I lived in Versailles. So I'd have to agree with Jay -- the longer I'm gone and the further I'm removed from the frenzy that is Kentucky athletics, the harder it is to bleed blue completely -- especially since I didn't go to school there, and since all I ever hear about down here is AU and UA.
It would certainly be a conflict of interest if Jay was an Auburn fan. He is supposed to give objective info on the team.
Team radio announcers don't have the same trust in objectivity that journalists do. Different set of rules.
never really thought about it like that..what is so hard about being objective but being a fan?especially when you're paid to do it..
I see reason for optimism. This team has one important thing in common with the 2002 team. I have no idea what we will do offensively. Will Burns go pass happy like he did against Ole Miss, or will he run the ball like he did against Georgia. Will Bama get a big dose of Ben Tate, or will Lester be back on track. Will Fannin emerge as the guy? How about Chris Slaughter and Rod Smitth? Will they participate? And there is a possibility of the biggest shock of all, namely bringing in Chris Todd.
The important thing to remember is that we are still recovering from getting Franklined, or getting Fed for short. Now that we have seemingly been de-Fed, we have to ask ourselves how good this team really is.
During the last two games we played the second best team in the west followed by the second best team in the east. In both games, we were competitive. That tells me we should be competitive against the Fing Tide too.
Nice post Steve.
I think we've lost 4 game by a total of 12 points this year..(i think that's accurate..somebody help me out) so yes we are competitive..also there has been improvement every week..no not giant leaps but at least some..who knows..I've said it alot this year but maybe it will click this weekend..
