Those pachyderms hold a grudge, huh?
This is the best way for Fulmer to go out considering the circumstances. The Volunteers can go about searching for his successor -- cash money says they drop lots of cash money on the next guy -- and Fulmer finally can escape the incredible pressure he's been feeling. He had a good run.
Anyway, I penned a story for the Advertiser today, which discussed the Tigers' run-game troubles. It also touched on Kodi Burns. I believe you should get value for your 50 cents ... if you paid that.
Tuberville's assertion that Auburn isn't physical enough to run effectively was The Quote of the Day. That wasn't the only interesting thing said Sunday.
Here is a look at some other intriguing comments:
JASON BOSLEY SPEAKS
- On his senior season not progressing as planned: "We've got three games left; three more guaranteed opportunities to play. Hopefully we'll finish strong and go to a bowl game. Just go out on a high note. But it definitely has been tough, a big-time adjustment to have to go through something like this your senior season."
- On the seniors' legacy: "You always talk about legacy as a senior, and what you want to leave. Me, I've always believed in hard work and toughness. Our seniors, that's what we want to leave. We're going to play hard every play."
- On if Kodi Burns is a rah-rah kind of leader: "I think he is. He could be. He seems real nice off the field and everything, but he's intense and he's real encouraging, so I think as long as he just keeps progressing ... He got rid of the ball quick, he made some good reads. He struggled some, but everybody struggles. It's a learning process for him."
- On what he saw from Kodi Burns last weekend: "I saw a lot of maturity from Kodi just for the simple fact that he;s been through an offense like this and the quarterback situation and the firing of the offensive coordinator and everything. I think he showed a lot of character and just pretty much he had faith in all of us to make plays. Right there, alone, is a big plus from his side to us."
- On the significance of this weekend's game: "Just to give us that winning taste in our mouth. We're on a four-game losing streak. It's been a while since we've walked on that field knowing that we have a win in the win column. A win against anybody would just really get us back on the right track. Hopefully just propel us for the rest of the season. We got three games left and if we take care of business Saturday, that will give us great motivation for the remaining two."
*****PERSONAL AREA*****
As many of you know, I play Rock Band quite often. I hit an important milestone on Friday. I gold-starred a song. That means I knocked an "expert" track out of the park. This is a new level of competence for me.
The song in question, for you nit-pickers, was Duran Duran's "Hungry Like The Wolf."
Yay me.

Have you played Guitar Hero World Tour yet?
We picked it up over the weekend.
I guess I need to try this Rock Band / Guitar Hero games. Everyone seems to rave about them.
Congrats on the "expert" rating.
Guitar Hero is good solo or 1 v 1 play.
Rockband is fun with a group of 3 or 4 to have all the parts being played. Drums are very hard.
Any guesses on whom TN gets to replace Fulmer?
chris03,
The new Guitar Hero has the drums and mic set up much like Rock Band.
I want another Spina comment. Jay feel him up :).
Chris:
Some guy (who happens to be writing a book on TN football) on the radio here in B'ham said that Gruden is a real possibility for TN. He said Gruden was a GA there and his wife graduated from TN. I guess TN fans are going to get Scott Van Pelt fired up today.
Jay:
Thanks for the newcomer listing!!
Is the rockband game online or just to the game itself. Sounds pretty fun. I am an NCAA 09 junky myself.
Jay, you should probably try El Scorcho on Expert. Easiest song to Gold Star EVAR.
Ha, I said that Gruden was the next coach earlier as a joke making fun of the Auburn people who say "We should get Gruden!" While it seems a little more likely he would go to UT due to the personal ties, I still think he'd be nuts to leave a head coaching job in the NFL. He is not on the hot seat at all, why would he go down to the college level?
I guess I should take Rock Band out of the box. Was thinking about returning it, but it sounds fun... That's the closest opinion to Auburn football I have right now.
Mad skills JGT, mad skills!
My 22-year-old son has the ultimate put-down for his college-aged friends who play Rock Band with him:
"Dude, my MOM plays better than you do!"
(Sad thing is, it's generally true.)
Personally, I don't play, but I enjoy watching her and the kids play Rock Band and Guitar Hero.
Props, Jay.
Well, that shows how much I continue to keep up with Guitar Hero.
I guess it wouldn't be guitar hero anymore. More like Band Hero.
I love Rock Band. Nothing like getting my inner Geddy Lee on during Tom Sawyer.
Do the drums make anyone else's foot really tired? I like playing the drums, but I can't do more than a couple of songs in a row with them. I am too out of shape.
Congrats on being a hero.
Nice play on the "50 cents." Fist bump.
My paper said it is to be 75 cents soon...Still worth it for a real rock star...
Something is terribly wrong in the football world Auburn, Tennesse, and now even Georgia, appear to be down. Alabama is winning. Make it stop, make it stop.
Steve- I don't believe Georgia is down, I just believe this is the norm for Richt.
I think Mike Leach looks like Vince Gill's homely older brother.
Eddie - I thought you might get a kick out of this.
I think if I were an NFL owner looking for a new coach in January, I'd want to interview Texas Tech coach Mike Leach. Every NFL team is using a version of the spread offense already, and this guy's got his doctorate in it. His football brain is obviously way ahead of its time, and he might be the next big thing in coaching. What would San Francisco, St. Louis, Cincinnati or Detroit -- or any number of other teams who might make a change -- have to lose?
Yeah, Jay, you should pick up Guitar Hero World Tour. Then we can rock each others faces off.
au1n04- I can see that teams would be interested in him, but he reminds me of a Steve Spurrier type coach that looks for mis-matches and timing in his offense. I'm not sold that he would be a good NFL coach because of the caliber of athlete at that level. I wouldn't mind seeing him sling it around at Auburn in the SEC. Not sure of his recruiting abilities, but if he can be this competitive as the 3rd biggest school in Texas, I believe he could do a good job.
Phred- I thought the same thing.
I definitely want to hear Spina's comments when Jay feels him up. I'd also like to hear Wifey's.
Eddie - I agree. I saw it on Peter King's MMQB and thought it was good timing.
Also, check out ESPN's bowl projections. Look at Week 1 and current....painful.
If you are the 3rd biggest school in Texas, you have far better talent at your fingertips than what Auburn and Alabama both have in the state of Alabama.
What is going with Georgia?
They've taken some really lopsided poundings this year. It's important to note, however, that this Florida team is gross, nasty and surely headed for a spot in the BCS championship game.
RK- They may be the 3rd school in Texas, but I believe they would be 4th to 5th in recruiting stature. Oklahoma raids Texas regulary along with LSU.
I think Georgia needs a good DC. I don't think Richt will make the change, but I think that is needed. I also believe the Georgia needs to panic when the run is slow to work. Over the years, if you can get Georgia behind, they press in the pass game before they really have to and then scores get really lopsided.
Florida is simply amazing to me. Does anyone recall that tearful speak that Tebow gave after the loss to Ole Miss - he has definitely delivered on those promises (at least to date).
Sure wish we could get stacey searles for ol coach from jawja.
I'd rather see the SECCG canceled than see Meyer or Saban have another shot at a BCSNC.....man, I've gotten bitter.
I'm with you Peter.
I agree win4au. Florida looks unbeatable and I think Tebow is the leader of the team without being a senior. That's one thing we're missing.
Is anyone calling for Richt's head?
Video being uploaded.
(Uploads are slow at home.)
Someone mentioned people wanting Richt's head earlier, but I don't think it is that big of a movement. Their fans have to be about as disappointed as we are though. Being predicted to win the national title and getting thoroughly spanked a couple of times has to hurt.
Steve, it would be hard for anyone to have UGA's schedule and not suffer a loss or two along the way. I know they were preseason #1, but their schedule is/was brutal. I still think they could have beaten Bama had they treated it like a normal game instead doing all the black out crap.
Jay, you need to supply us with a video of you "rocking out" on Rock Band
Does bama hate Fulmer so much for turning them in? Did the allegations end up being true?
Monica, that's the reason I hear from some friends that are Bama fans. I think the allegations were true, but that's all I know..
Just Win AU, it isn't the fact they lost a couple that would be upsetting. It is the way they lost them. Yea, they made a good comeback against Bama. But the Florida beating was a good ole fashioned grecko-roman butt kicking.
What about firing the offensive coaches, which is a very strong possibilty, and bring franklin back and let him bring in who he wants. Hey, we didn't let him run the offense the first go around and we still have to pay him. Let him coach the guys we got committed for 2009.
Monica, that seems to be what irritates the Bama Nation and I do believe the allegations turned out to be true, which is why Bama was on probation. I don't understand the fan's anger.
Please, if you know of Auburn cheating in any way, report it to the NCAA. I have always been of the opinion that if you cheat to win, you have already lost.
wootangclan, that is a decision for Tuberville should make. I don't believe in dictating any staff changes to a head coach. If we cannot trust Tuberville to make the changes needed, what the heck are we paying him for. If he can't fix the problems himself, he should be fired.
I know that Steve. I was just saying that their schedule was tough and it would be hard for any team to go through that schedule and play for the MNC. I know they are disappointed just like Auburn fans are and were in 2003 when we were predicted to win it all. I figured if FL could they would run up the score as a response to the end zone celebration from last year.
Folks, try to keep a positive attitude. Things could get worse. Don't believe me? We play Tennessee Martin this coming weekend. Any more questions?
New video posted.
Only took 25 minutes to upload!
I am not dictating the coaching changes, but I would put good money on Knox, Nall, Ensminger & Gran being gone whether Tubbs stays or not. I will state I think that decision has already been made by Tubbs, not anyone else.
I just hope the next OC can bring at least one other person with him, or Tubbs needs to get coahes that are familiar with the spread and are willing to run it if AU is going to run a version of it.
Fulmer allegedly turned them in for cheating. I think they stole some recruits from him or something. Remember good ole Albert Means? We should thank Phil for the bama wins he provided us with early this decade. He will be missed.
But yeah, bama is sore they got caught cheating. Plus they are historical rivals anyway, jut adding to the hate.
Props to that Jay. I was playing Rock Band this weekend and figured a way to sing and play the drums at the same time. It was the hardest thing that I have ever done on a video game. So Jay do you think that you've got what it takes to take on the "youtube" guitar hero/rock band kid?
Thanks Just, Steve and Jan Terri for the feedback on bama's misplaced anger.
I actually filmed some runs through "Stricken" on GH3 ... but couldn't hit it 100%.
So it goes.
wootangclan, I don't want to see Gran or Nall going anywhere. They are top notch coaches. If I were Tuberville I would leave changes to the offensive staff up to the new coordinator.
Did you play on hard or expert Jay?
