Hugh Nall speaks

Just got off the phone with Hugh Nall. As the HOTTIES learned several days ago, Nall (pictured in the background at right) is now a high-ranking official with a company based in Albany, Ga.

Nall had plenty to say about his final day at Auburn. It gives us a glimpse into the frenzy and abrupt finale that was Tuberville's last stand.

HERE'S HOW IT UNFOLDED:
  • Nall was in Atlanta around 2:30 CST preparing to board a plane bound for Dallas. He was headed west to visit with OL commitment Aaron Moore.

  • Prior to boarding, Nall called Andy Lutz (Tuberville's right-hand man) and asked if he needed to hang back or get on the plane.

"A gut feeling told me to call into the office and see what was going on," Nall said. ``Tubs told Andy that I needed to go; that it looks like this thing is going to work out."

  • Nall lands in Dallas around 4:15. He has received dozens of messages. The first is from Lutz.

"He said everybody's been let go. He said we needed to be with our families," Nall said. ``I'm in Dallas, Texas. My wife is calling me. Someone at the bank told her. My daughter heard it on the radio. They want to talk with me and here I am in Dallas."

  • As it turns out, the plane Nall rode from Atlanta to Dallas is heading back to Atlanta in less than an hour. He immediately books a seat on the return flight.

  • While waiting for his final flight as an Auburn employee, Nall talks with long-time friend Henry Griffin. He owns Southern AG Carriers. That's where Nall works these days.

"He asked me: `Are you ready to get out of coaching?'" Nall said. ``I was already out of it."

OTHER QUOTES OF INTEREST:
On the events of 12/3: "What gets me is this: When I got on that plane, Tuberville was going to stay. I get off the plane an hour and 40 minutes later and it's over. What happened? There's a good story in there."

On Olive Tuberville's assertion that her son was fired: "If Olive Tuberville told me it was going to be cold out, I'd wear the biggest coat I've got. That's all that needs to be said there."

On Tony Franklin's dismissal: "That was the right thing for Auburn University and the game of football. What I mean by that is that you had to do that for the players and the total situation. The chemistry was not there. The preparation certainly wasn't there. The whole deal wasn't working. I supported Tubs' decision."

  1. "He asked me: `Are you ready to get out of coaching?'" Nall said. ``I was already out of it."

That's all I need to hear.

  2. No kidding, Monica. I think that's pretty much what we all expected to find out, and doesn't make it any easier to have it confirmed.

I do agree that the Franklin deal needed to happen, but the rest of this still stinks.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I think Nall is a bit upset....

    ReplyDelete
  4. He meant that he'd been fired ... so that decision already had been made.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Anonymous2:55 PM

    Sad.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Everybody ready to watch MSU start stealing recruits? It's a possibility as long as we don't have a coach. A decision needs to be made, and it's been made, announce it already, enough with the masquerade.

    ReplyDelete
  7. WOW. So, in 1 hr and 40 minutes things changed THAT dramatically??? No way Tubs tells Nall to get on that plane if he thinks it's not going to work out. No way.

    ReplyDelete
  8. *And IF it's been made...is how my post should have read. Sorry folks.

    ReplyDelete
  9. "I was already out of it"

For how long is the question?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Lots of good stuff in that little interview, Jay. Good job.

    ReplyDelete
  11. The foundation for success in the spread was started in the bowl game and continued in the spring.

And then it went off the tracks.

As Michael said at the end of The Godfather ...

"You have to answer for Santino, Carlo."

Nall has to answer for share of the collapse of the offense -- either because of his inability to adapt or his outright refusal to do so.

    ReplyDelete
  12. "When I got on that plane, Tuberville was going to stay. I get off the plane an hour and 40 minutes later and it's over. What happened? There's a good story in there."

Is anyone still questioning if CTT actually resigned or was fired?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm withholding a couple great quotes for tomorrow's story.

He spoke at length about the real/perceived lack of support they all had from within in the organization.

    ReplyDelete
  14. If Miss State is stealing our recruits, then we probably needed to look at the people we were recruiting more than who they just hired.

We want the recruits that the Florida's and LSU's want to steal, not the ones Miss State can steal.

    ReplyDelete
  15. * "I was already out of it"

    * quote applies to Nall, Ensminger, and Knox

    ReplyDelete
  16. Someone tell me why JJ and Auburn came up with this lie about Tuberville? I don't understand it. EVERYONE KNEW HE GOT FIRED! Why the freaking lies?

Also, another read into the situation, which I'm sure Jay has already read into it, is that Auburn got their man to say yes between Atlanta and Dallas.

Side note Jay, I think your part about the flight returning to "Dallas" instead of Atlanta is typo.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Jet... or his inability to overcome the chaos that CTF created with the offense.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Did he say that's what he meant by "I was already out of it"? Just because he had been fired didn't mean he couldn't go coach another place.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I fixed it, Eddie.

    Good lookin' out.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I am awaiting Mr, Paul Harvey and ..."The rest of the story".

    ReplyDelete
  21. RK, who's the guy that gets those guys from UF and LSU?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Kids, Bre'r Tuberville wanted to be fired.

Why go through the hassle of another bad season? Get the check now and go.

Nall, Ensminger and Knox knew they were toast anyway. Tommy decided to cash all their chips for the big check by pushing for the dismissal.

He gets sympathy, he gets paid, and the Big Boys (and Jet) get what they want. A new coach.

All wrapped up in a nice, tidy, little bow, if you ask me.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Eddie's got his 'Spell-Check' on down in Disney World. Good lookin' out dawg.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah, BigCat and what IS that "good story" that is there?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I personally believe Nall was already looking for another job incase Tubs was forced to fire him. He was being pro-active in looking for future employement should the need to arise. NO ONE can blame him for doing so.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Monica, the good story in there is "Bre'r Tuberville and the Brier Patch."

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah, unless he SAID "I was already out" meant he'd already been fired, I don't think that's what it meant.

    ReplyDelete
  28. RK the State of Mississippi still grows top recruits and like many kids, some would like to stay close to home if their is a viable program there.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Jay, can I get a Muschamp percentage as Auburn HC?

    ReplyDelete
  30. "RK, who's the guy that gets those guys from UF and LSU?"

I think that's the 2+ million dollar question that Jay Jacobs hopes to have an answer for.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Maybe H Nall can also tell why E Gran "interviewed" Franklin, or why Tubs talked with him only 4 or 5 times according to Franklin during his time at AU. The Franklin experiment was a disaster, but a disaster created by CTT and company.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think it was a deal where Nall and Griffin had been friends for years and they had discussed working together after the football thing ended.

Then it ended and the discussion became reality.

With that said, Nall definitely had a sense that his days were numbered.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Out of all 12 teams in the SEC geographically and facility wise, Miss State is # 12.

Most kids who want to stay in state there go to Ole Miss. There are many reasons why Miss State is traditionally the last or 2nd to last place team in the SEC depending on what Vandy does.

    ReplyDelete
  34. BigCat, bingo, especially when a guy comes from the most successful program in the modern era of the SEC (1992-Current) who has coached in the MNC game and coached a Heisman winner...There's lots of appeal there.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The fact that Ole Miss has the grove and all the "Hottie" pretty much locks up that state.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ed Orgeron came from the top program in the country to the same state.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Eddie,

    You are correct about both.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't get all the love for Ole Miss, I've been to both places many times and I've always had more fun in Starkville. Quite frankly, Ole Miss is on my list of most overrated places of all time.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I know how it changed in 1 hr and 40 mins. Tubs went in and thought he could make the changes that were requested and then when it was pushed by JJ tubs said he had been there 10 years and did not want have the heart to do it. The more I hear the more I believe it was mutual. Not all the evil AU administration or the evil PTB. I agree with you Jet.

    ReplyDelete
  40. RK- Orgeron came to Ole Miss for his Hummer. YAW YAW.

    ReplyDelete
  41. David Cutcliffe came from UT who was one game worse than Florida every year, coached in a "MNC" and the guy who should have won the 1997 Heisman (Peyton Manning) to that same state and without Eli, he was a .500 coach at best.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Sean, I've been to both places several times also. The scenery is way much better at Ole Miss. Going to Miss State is like driving from a cow pasture to the campus. THERE IS NOTHING there.

    ReplyDelete
  43. While I really like Tubs, I have to say that my number 1 frustration was the BBQ Bunch. I know certain media types really like Nall (and Moe and Curley) it was frustrating beyond words to pay all that money and sit in my seats year after year and look at the offensive product we were putting on the field. And yes, our offense was offensive.

    ReplyDelete
  44. There is nothing in Starkville...very little in Columbus which is the closest civilized area near Starkville.

When the highway stops and dies in a town, they are out there.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oxford = neat town, great scenery (flora/fauna/Laura/Donna)

Starkville = most aptly named town in America.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The only thing offensive about our offense is how offensive it was to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ok so Oxford has trees...nice. Still I found Oxford to be a bore after a day or so. At least at MSU they have the Bulldog Bash which was a load of fun.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Not the kind of scenery that Eddie was talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Well referring to Women, I think Auburn holds its own in that category, as I broke up with an Ole Miss woman for an Auburn woman, who I late married, I guess I'm a little biased. Didn't find the women in Starkville to be that bad either...but I digress no reason to spend what little energy I have discussing the Mississippi schools which are both inferior to our beloved Alma Mater.

    ReplyDelete
  50. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I remember being at the Thursday night game in 2002 in Starkville trying to find Tiger Walk.

We walked around right in the middle of their Bulldog walk. There were about 30 State fans there and 5 of us looking for Tiger Walk. The Jackyl looked at us disgusted and kept going.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Eddie, that's a negative.

    ReplyDelete
  53. All that said about MSU, their recruiting class was looking much stronger than ours earlier these season. With this new hire, it has the potential to get several of those top recruits that they lost. Add a few offensive suprises at QB/WR and they become quite competitive next season.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Sean, I agree with you. Auburn is quite nice. My wife is also an Auburn Grad. Can never go wrong with Auburn Women :)!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. BigCat, I agree with you, it makes me uneasy now esp with UT and MSU making solid hires, I hope JJ blows us away.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yea me too Sean...but I'm getting nervous.

    ReplyDelete
  57. "Oxford = neat town, great scenery (flora/fauna/Laura/Donna)

Starkville = most aptly named town in America."

    LOL Nice.

Eddie - WHY ARE YOU HERE????

    ReplyDelete
  58. It is becoming increasingly clear to me that the most obvious choice is Bruce Dickinson.
    More Cowbell!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Monica- Kids napping right now, but I'm getting ready to go look at the Animals in about 15 minutes. Is there a better was to kill time than spending it here??? I think not! :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Eddie - Are y'all have a blast already?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Absolutely. We love this place. We were at the Magic Kindgdom this morning, and we are getting ready to leave for Animal Kingdom right now. My 3 year old is loving it.

    Talk at yall later.

    ReplyDelete
  62. later Eddie. enjoy the animals.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Eddie, if you get the chance do a "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party." It requires an additional admission to Magic Kingdom, but we thought it was well worth it. I love Disney World.

    ReplyDelete
  64. An interesting thought. I believe Tuberville said he intends to stay in Auburn for at least a year. So, as LSU is discovering that Les is not more, is it possible that Les is out at LSU after next season and Tuberville is in? It wouldn't surprise me at all.

    ReplyDelete
  65. JAY,
I noticed reading an article about Nall that said coaches were fired as soon as CTT was no longer coach at Auburn. They still get paid so why stay on and help recruit. Do they do this in hopes of catching on with the new coach.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Scottie B got my shirt yesterday!!! I love it! It looks great and the quality is better than 99% of the tees I've bought in the last 5 years!

    ReplyDelete
  67. So when is our good ole pal JJ returning to Auburn?

    ReplyDelete
  68. tigerfan these coaches have put alot into this program for a very long time. I think they just honestly care about the future of this team and the players.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Who on our list is as impressive as Dan Mullen? Certainly not Muschamp, Fisher, or Gill. Petrino and Johnson, certainly, I don't see them coming.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'm still going to push for Gary Patterson, but if we get Bruce Dickinson to interview, all bets are off. Can you imagine? Auburn with THE Bruce Dickinson?!?

    ReplyDelete
  71. We were there with a 3yo in tow last week, Eddie. Had a blast. I don't know if the extra admission MK Xmas Party is worth it, but the fireworks display on those nights was bigger than normal. It was very impressive from the Poly.

    Have fun!

    ReplyDelete

  73. "The chemistry was not there. The preparation certainly wasn't there. "

Is this quote right? He said Franklin didn't adequately prepare for games?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Well, so much for the scientologist going to MS St.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Good interview jay. I was one of the few hugh nall fans left out there. I think he's a good football coach and was instrumental in developing the ben grubbs, tim duckworths and tyronne greens of the past 9 years at auburn.

Why do we care that mississippi state hired that guy? He is the OC job at florida is nothing but a figurehead position with meyer as the coach.

    ReplyDelete
  76. "I was never in it."

    S. Ensminger

    ReplyDelete
  77. I think the scientologist is coming to Auburn. Only I dont think he is a scientologist. I have seen almost no official talk about him. He must be the one.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Jay G I'm real interested to read the rest of the story ($1 to Paul Harvy). I still feel like Tommy either resigned or asked to be fired, maybe in light that he didn't fully have the support he wanted. Maybe Auburn was willing to only commit one more year to him or told him he was their guy for now and he wanted more and in light of the lack of more asked to be let go. Regardless tommy really needs to call a press conf or conf call and clear up the real story. What's happening now is truly unfair to Auburn University and a self proclaimed "Auburn Man" wouldn't selfishly standby and let that happen.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Steve, How is fisher not as impressive as Mullen? They both have National championships on their resume, the difference is at UF, they are running Meyer's system, the offense was all Fishers at LSU.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Nall was a very good coach and will be missed.

I do suspect that Jay Jacobs and Tuberville agreed on a lot in terms of Tuberville returning. I suspect Jacobs had a one last thing for Tuberville that he held back because he wanted Tuberville to see they were in agreement on most things.

That one thing could have been the firing of specific coaches or a change in the buyout clause in his contract. We will never know.

That being said, Nall and Tuberville are gone. The damage is done. The way to minimize the effects is to look forward, not back.

Now, lets get a good offensive minded coach and see where that leads us.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Wakeriderof87, are you impressed with the FSU offense?

    ReplyDelete
  82. "Coach? I'm a COACH?!?"

    Steve Ensminger

    ReplyDelete
  83. Its nothing mine blowing but it was second in the ACC in scoring, I realize the ACC isn't the SEC, but there were alot of suspensions this year as well.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I've got a Fevah! And the only prescription is MORE BOOM!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Thanks for the interview, Jay. That coupled with Olive Tuberville's comments seals it for me. Someone please give JJ an Oscar for his tear-jerking Hallmark card of a performance...

    ReplyDelete
  86. Cue up the great quote from Meatballs ...

It just doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter.

    ReplyDelete
  87. The fact that Nall had the psycic power to call before he got on the plane to see if he needed to get on the plane or stay back says even more to me than Nall just blew a bunch of smoke up your back side and he's even more full of crap than I had initally thought and Tony Franklin warned us about.

    ReplyDelete
  88. The one thing I like about getting Boom is that Texas stole two DCs from us. Swipping their HCIW would be cool. We can easily make that $900k look like chump change.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I know I'm in the minority on this one, but for some reason this really does matter to me. I guess it's just the way JJ portrays himself as this bastion of honesty and integrity who believes in doing things "the Auburn Way" and in "treating other people the way he would want to be treated." Please... spare me the hypocrisy. If he didn't lay the "family atmosphere" stuff on so thick, it probably wouldn't bother me so much.

But again, that's just me, and I know that I'm in the minority...

    ReplyDelete
  90. Silly Phmarsh, has Steven Spurrier pictured on the front page.

    ReplyDelete
  91. CovingtonTigerFan, I think they put the most positive light they could over firing one of the most successful coaches in the SEC and in school history. I would just let it go.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Curious, these quotes say that Tubs could have quit.

Nothing inb what I read said that they were'nt trying to "work this thing out."

What's the quote that says Tubs didn't step aside on his own but asked for his family to be taken care of?

And please, no more scoops from Olive Tuberville, um kay?

    ReplyDelete
  93. Sorry, but the most sucessful coaches in the SEC's history are judged by CHAMPIONSHIPS and nothing else.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I know, Steve. You're probably right. But every time I read/hear something else like this, it just makes me mad all over again.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Anonymous4:58 PM

The $5.1 mil is to ensure that CTT is a good "ambassador"...that means not divulging exactly what happened. It also means not writing a book about the whole "Auburn Experience". The "message from mom" was a way to skirt the payoff.

It seems to me that Nall had already decided that this would be his last coaching gig prior to getting dumped and had prearranged with his buddy. The phone call to his buddy was inevitable.

    ReplyDelete
  96. BOOM BOOM BOOM lemme heay ya say ayyyyoooooo!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Anonymous5:01 PM

    Boom is an emotional midget.

    ReplyDelete
  98. In that article:

Although Tuberville’s mother, Olive, told the Opelika-Auburn News that her son was actually “fired,” Nall confessed Tuesday he’s still not sure what happened.

All he can do is just try to make sense of everything.

“I think it was a situation where everybody realized that everybody needed to be on the same page,” Nall said. “It is tough in this league. In order to win the league and possibly a national championship, you’ve got to have everybody on the same page. So, I think there were a lot of people realizing that was never going to happen. Some of the support that was needed was not going to be there. So, did he resign? I think a ‘mutual agreement’ was the best way to put it.”

    ReplyDelete
  99. Jhag ...

    Aayyyoooooo!

    BOOM!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Hoopie ...

The correct phrase is "little person."

So bring on the Emotional Little Person!!!

    BOOM!

  102. Jay,

Is it fair to say Eddie Gran is responsible for all the players on the roster from South Florida?

Dillard and (#1) St. Thomas, Aquintas & others.

    ReplyDelete
  103. The Dillard pipeline goes all the way back to Dye taking in troubled child Otis Mounds, which led to Frank Sanders, James Bostic, etc., who were signed by Dye, but blossomed during Bowden's tenure.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Nall's comments about Franklin needing to be gone don't surprise me. I suspected that Tuberville had a meeting with the offensive position coaches and asked them their opinion. My guess is Tuberville was shocked by the response he got.

They had a lot of time from the Peach Bowl to the start of the season to get on the same page. The responsibility to make it happen has to lay with Franklin.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Steve ... aw, man, no it doesn't.

YOu can fault Franklin for x, y and z, and that's OK.

But the responsibility to make it work lies with Tuberville.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Sure, I understand that whole thing Jet but someone has been recruiting so. fla very well.

Someone posted that they didn't understand the Gran-love becuase of just running back play and recruiting was my first thought.
Lus, don't discount the St. Thomas-Aquintas connection.

And Armwood, Sefner -- ie: the Smith Bros.

    ReplyDelete
  107. impromptu list of NFL offensive lineman coached by Nall:

    Marcus McNeill
    Ben Grubbs
    King Dunlap (it's true)
    Kendall Simmons
    Tim Duckworth

lots of all-sec guys...someone not as lazy as me could compile a list...

Nall may have had his faults, but he produced.

    ReplyDelete
  108. jdinmacon, Nall is well known as a great offensive line coach. I don't think anyone knowledgeable about college football would doubt that.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I will grant you a tip of the recruiting hat to Gran.

Even so, he's a part of our past, not our future. Because he's viewed as Tuberville conjoined twin.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Jet and the Sonic Boom, Tuberville wasn't the OC, which stands for offensive coordinator. It is not the job of the head coach to coordinate the offensive staff.

    ReplyDelete
  111. The fact that Nall had the psycic power to call before he got on the plane to see if he needed to get on the plane or stay back says even more to me than Nall just blew a bunch of smoke up your back side and he's even more full of crap than I had initally thought and Tony Franklin warned us about.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Steve.

    A. If Tuberville was shocked -- shocked -- that his offensive staff disliked Franklin, then he should have been fired at midseason. Surely you don't believe that.

    B. It is the CEO's responsibility to tell long-time employees when a new manager comes in "either get on board, or get out." Otherwise, you are setting everyone up for failure. If you are aiming to walk to the other side of the street, you better not stop in the middle of the road. Look at what happened.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Tuberville did what a manager is suppose to. Mr. Franklin, you didn't do your job. Goodbye.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Sorry about the double post stupid blackberry

    ReplyDelete
  115. Steve ...

One more point and I'll let it drop.

    1. Mazzone fired.
    2. Borges fired.
    3. Franklin fired.
    4. Staff on the front line untouched.

    Tail wagged dog. Bad CEO.

    ReplyDelete
  116. A bad CEO would have let them remain. See Mike Shula.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Steve ... Love ya, bro.

We just ain't gonna see eye to eye ... you might as well pay me my $5.1 million and I'll adios.

    Just kiddin'

    ReplyDelete
  118. I think Graham or someone of his ilk. Turner Gill still possibly.

We do not need someone who has never been a head coach.

    ReplyDelete
  119. "Coach? I'm a COACH?!?"

    Steve Ensminger

"....I was wonderin' why I moved up here five years ago!"

    ReplyDelete
  120. Jay G ... I'm beginning to have this strange feeling that you know exactly who the new coach is. Why is that I wonder?

    ReplyDelete
  121. Jet - Why is he called Boom?

    ReplyDelete
  122. Jay, you make anything of this email, I just read...

Friend at B'ham news just texted me and said that we may hear something around 8 pm. on the AU search. He said that an announcement may come as soon as tommorrown morning. They plan to go with it tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  123. camera and mike pans to Muschamp as he encourages an AU defender as he runs off the field ... "BOOM MF!"

    ReplyDelete
  124. Mark will you share it with us if you hear? :-)

    ReplyDelete
  125. I LOVE THAT VIDEO!!!!!!!!

"get your ass off the field you ain't hurt!"

    ReplyDelete
  126. SHARE IT!?!?!?

I'll scream it from the rooftops.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Anonymous5:45 PM

Jet.....you spin propaganda in a style similar to Lowder. Just obvious instead of hidden....how well do you know him?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Habotn first though.

    ReplyDelete
  129. A guy called Paul Fartbaum and said Jimbo Fisher was a done deal and that his source hasn't been wrong yet.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Actually he says --

"Boom! That's what I'm talking about. Woo, knock these MF'ers out."

    ReplyDelete
  131. Yes, somehow I think Muschamp isn't an introvert.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Jay is noticeably absent. If the Birmingham NEws knows something, you can bet our very own HABOTN beat reporter has the scoop.

    ReplyDelete
  133. That's what I want my football coach to say!

    ReplyDelete
  134. Mark ... if you do hear something, pass it along to Jay via email and give him the chance to scoop everybody else. I imagine that would grant an immediate promotion to the ring of fire.

    ReplyDelete
  135. If link don't work --- I just Googled...

"BOOM mfer" -- seriously - top link!

    ReplyDelete
  136. LOL Thank you, Chris for the link and for the transcript. Now, I finally get the, "You ain't hurt!" references too.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Boom! Boom! Out go the lights!

    ReplyDelete
  138. It is really a hard call between Jimbo and Boom, but I will go with Boom based upon strength of nickname.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Boom Shakalaka!

    ReplyDelete

Jet based on the "JET" CEO reponsibility code....it's obvious that you've never hired the wrong guy for a team. Have you ever hired anybody at all?

    ReplyDelete
  141. Texas actually got a T-shirt done up.

    "BOOM MF'er!!!!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  142. Mon - that's from the 2006 Arky game where we held McFadden & Jones to like 70 yards on the ground and won WITHOUT AN OFFENSE.

    Sound familiar?

    ReplyDelete
  143. JD, while I appreciate the effort in the list, thats 5 O-linemen in ten years. Four of those were gonna play pro if pee-wee Herman was their position coach. Its the ones that don't have that ability to start the end up good pros that make the difference. If anyone wondered as to the coaching desire much of this staff had left need look no further than Nall's new gig. It aint in football folks. Please dont infer from my comments that I do not appreciate Nall or any of the other coaches, its just that I think this whole staff was tired and needed to go. That leads me to my next gripe: Why is it so important for the national media (no beef with you Jay-good get on the interview) to get proof that Auburn fired Tubbs? What difference does it make? For gosh sakes, take it for what it is and move the hell on. I have, and it wasn't that freaking difficult.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Wouldn't it be hilarious if Jet was actually Bobby L?

    ReplyDelete
  145. Phred, have you ever been on the soonerfans board that called "fark central"?

That's where B stole my fish farks originated and many many more.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Anonymous5:53 PM

Jet.....How many sports minds will you persuade today? It's always the same mantra and packaged very cute.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Kris, there's PLENTY more OL than that in the league.

And add Tyrone Green from this years' squad.

    Another DL turned PRO OL-,man.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Anyone look at flightaware, an interesting flight occured from AUO to Smith Field and airport in NW Arkansas about 20 miles from fayetteville...jet gate part deux???

    ReplyDelete
  149. Yes, Chris, that sounds very familiar. I think I'm going to BOOM! the IRS dude I have to deal with tomorrow...

Mark - I'll be listening for your rooftop shouts. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  150. then again maybe tubby went duck hunting again.

    ReplyDelete
  151. name the ones that start

    ReplyDelete
  152. Tyronne will go pro, but why did we run to the right side of the line so much? Not hatin, by the way.

    ReplyDelete
  153. the "update ball" on my mac is bouncing. I'll be offline for a few minutes. I hope I don't miss The BIG ANNOUNCENT!!!! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  154. You better hurry, TAR!

    ReplyDelete
  155. If there were going to be some kind of announcement tonight, I would think super Jay would be on the plains.

    ReplyDelete
  156. I do marvel at the people describing how someone is a bad offensive line coach, but when examples of the good players that they coached come up, they say the players didn't need coaching. Now, that is some of that ironic irony I have been hearing so much about.

    ReplyDelete
  157. way off topic, but i saw the coolest license plate today. here in az. it's az vs. asu. a red pickup (nice one, it's one of az.'s colors) had a big u of az sticker in the rear window, had an asu vanity plate, complete with the little sun devil, and the "number" on the license plate read "stinks". asu stinks! someone should by a car or truck from chris in inverness and get the same thing with a uat plate, imo.

    ReplyDelete
  158. I do like the Boom Boom, Out Go The Lights reference. That would actually be some cool music to play as the players hit the field. Better save it for a big game though.

    ReplyDelete
  159. so 8:00PM we will have more info?

    ReplyDelete
  160. This impending announcement doesn't bode well for my exam in the morning.

Come on Auburn, announce the hire and get it over with.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I'll be in church from 7-8, so you will probably know anything newsworthy before I get back on.

Hopefully this will end soon. If not, I imagine, it will quiet down and end after the bowl games.

    ReplyDelete
  162. This comment has been removed by the author.

  163. oh no pining for another announcement. I assume he meant 8 central.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I'm interveiwing for another job (3rd interview BTW) tomorrow.

    ALL PRAYERS APPRECIATED

    ReplyDelete
  165. Chris is it the Auburn head coaching job? JK JK Prayers sent!!!

    ReplyDelete
  166. Never said he was a bad OL coach Steve, and I now regret even saying anything about it at all. This staff was tired, period. That staff got run, period. Lets move on.

    ReplyDelete
  167. And my new profile pic of Rodney Garner makes me tee-tee myself a little bit every time I look at it.

Could you imaging BOOM MF'er you ain't hurt and Coach Garner on the same staff?

    one word- badass

    ReplyDelete
  168. Adding you to the list Chris and good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  169. Kris, I agree.

His comments are from a tired coach who didn't have it in them to compete against the Myers, Richts and Sabears of the SEC-world.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Nobody makes an announcement at 8 PM central.

    ReplyDelete
  171. is Jay J still in NY? I can't imagine any announcement with him up there

    ReplyDelete
  172. Obviously it wouldn't be anything official, just an oh we intend to introduce so and so tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  173. it's plane season...

    ReplyDelete
  174. Jay, have you heard any rumblings of an announcement?

    ReplyDelete
  175. I'm in commission only in the auto biz at the moment - lucky me.

BIG THREE gets a bailout - me, not so much.

New gig - hope hope - would be salary plus commission and its in my wheel-house!

Plus about 60 less hrs a week so my 5 year old gets to know her father.

    Thanks in advance - Amen!

    ReplyDelete
  176. good luck. spending time with the misses and kids is good stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  177. that pic of Garner is great when you zoom in on it. it looks like he wants a piece of the camera guy. yikes!

    ReplyDelete
  178. Chris - I would LOVE to see you in an interview! Yes, you're added to my list and good luck! Hope it works out for you.

    ReplyDelete
  179. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned crazy facial contortionist Jim Leavitt at South Florida.

    ReplyDelete
  180. So does yours, Scottie! :-)

lol @ RK "nobody makes an announcement at 8 CST" I don't know why. That's just struck me as funny.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Monica - my wife's an executive recruiter and has coaches me up!

whoo hoo -- the guy I'm interviewing with is a former jock like me and we hit it off nicely.

Its a phone sales job that I'm built for.

Not much to look at if'n ya know...

    ReplyDelete
  182. Kris, I agree. The thing to do now is get behind whoever the new coach is. It may not be who you would like, but whoever it is, give him a shot to prove what he can do before we trash him:)

    ReplyDelete
  183. isn't my girl Beasley just precious? she's giving a big yawn for her daddy. :) thanks for noticing Miss Mon.

i think he meant, that if you're going to make an announcement, 8pm ET makes more sense....at least from tv perspective. or maybe i'm nuts. who knows?

    ReplyDelete
  184. I just picture you as a hyper, very entertaining dude. I really hope you get the job. I'm sure your baby girl would like to see you more often.

    ReplyDelete
  185. If there were going to be an announcement, Jay would know and would likely be on his way to Auburn now. If they are going to make an announcement, I assume they would want the media there. If not, I don't think it is an announcement, but more of a coverup.

    ReplyDelete
  186. I know this - If they had a recruiting coordinator Battle Royale like the old WWF days, I've got my c-note of Coach Garner.

    ReplyDelete
  187. I could never do sales. I just don't have the attitude for it. Hey, you wanna buy one of this thingies. No, I don't know what it is for, but I need the commission.

    ReplyDelete
  188. I met James Bostic two weeks ago, down here in south florida...me and a few friends had a bon fire...huge black cop comes running up the fire...and says war eagle,I think i know your parents. We got out of all trouble and he just made us put out the fire. Great time.

    ReplyDelete
  189. Steve, I don't think it's a cover up. I think it's just someone posted that they heard that someone heard that a friend of the guy who does Mrs. Lowder's nails said there was something going on at 8 PM tonight.

    So they posted it.

    ReplyDelete
  190. Well, when I get to the house I'll put some of my kid's pics on my "Inverness Chris" facebook.

I'm tellin ya - Gerber Baby cutest kid contest all da way.

Off topic - Anyone else have a young child that's looking forward to Santa's visit?

Anyone ever heard of the "Elf on the Shelf". It has made the holidays SO much fun with my 5 yr old.

She named hers "Eddie Elf" and every morning's like Christmas-lite. We have to hunt Eddie to see where he moved the night before.

If you have young'uns, look it up!

    ReplyDelete
  191. He saw they Auburn Logos on my truck.

    ReplyDelete
  192. Well, Steve. It takes a certain type person. Its like running your own business.

I know a few guys here knocking down as much as the NFL minimum here.

Of course they've been here forever. now managers make the big money but hours are the problem.
