The morning scene

Hey everyone. It's moving day on the Plains. Though coaches are in a meeting right now, they've already begun the process of packing their things and moving out. It's sad in a sense. They dedicated a big chunk of their lives to this place.

I'll miss seeing some of them.

There are cameras all over. Reporters all over. You may have the opportunity to watch this unfold on live television at 11 a.m. CST, but I'll be here live blogging as Jacobs speaks.

So you can kick it here.

Ass't coaches moving out? Aren't they still employed? And isn't it possible one or more could still be working for AU in '09?

Some laughed at that notion when I asked.

I think we all appreciate your efforts Jay. I know I sure do. I'm out of state also, so I'll be watching the HABOTN for my updates.

    Thanks, Jay.

Who will you miss the most?

    ReplyDelete
  8. NO LEACH! He would be totally entertaining but too soft for the SEC. PLEASE people no more of this Cower/Gruden talk. It will never happen. Never ever!

    Jay,
The $4 million offer I told you was made on Tuesday turned out to be correct, yet every reporter called it a bad rumor. With the exception of the announcement I said would be made following the 2:00 meeting on Tuesday (which was anticipated due to the changed events but then delayed until Wednesday to allow Tommy to think about it), every piece of information I have shared over the last few months has been very reliable.

  11. James Willis must stay!!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Jay- I can't believe that you have made no comments about AU's basketball game last night. You really need to get your priorities straight.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Jay, seriously if you have to hand Willis the guitar and ask him to play guitar hero. Hold him up for 3 hours until I can get there from Chattanooga and convince him that he has to demand whoever the new coach is keep him on the staff.

  14. I saw the Sullivan kid play in high school. My high school and his high school met a couple of times in the final four he is a very good player.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I look for a coach that has been successful in another conference to be hired. The problem with that is they will have no connections in the south to reruits. But, I agree that this is a very important hire for AU. This hire will set the direction of AU football for 5-7 years. It use to be you could take a chance on someone but now with the landscape of the SEC one cannot do that. You have to hit that homerun.

  16. I would find it hard to want to stay as an assistant considering how things went down. Maybe it's just business, but that was pretty cold. The only one I could see staying is Willis because of his previous ties to Auburn. Kind of how Whitt stayed on Tuberville's original staff.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Jay,
Tell Rhodes and Willis not to pack. They need to stay.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Sullivan is a player. I hope we can get some bigs for him to dish the ball to.

I imagine it'll be up to the new coach to keep Rhoads/Willis

  19. Just heard the replay of Ensminger's wife on the radio.

    wow.

    That was one POB!

She even accused Sabear of hundred dollar handshakes!

    ReplyDelete
  20. yeh the high school Sullivan went to is pretty much a dynasty in 2A basketball.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The more I think about it I think the way it went down, to me tells me that CTT did want the split also. If the university was hell bent to fire CTT then why allow all the staff to go out and recruit. The were leaving at the time tubbs resigned. So to me it looked like a fluid situation. Just because we all assumed he would be fired at game 6 of the season does not mean it went down like that.

  22. Notice the image on the laptop in the picture of the office.

Whats up with that? A joke? Comic relief? Or Photo shopped by Jay?

Just thought I'd point that out, kinda interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Aubie, heard that too. She's sounds bitter, but that was an interesting tidbit.

If she's accusing Bama of cheating again, I'm assuming her hubby is telling her about it. So, why is there no action being taken to stop it?? Or, is there and we just don't know about it yet?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Jay,

I have been a lurker for a while and finaly jumpped into the fire. Thanks for all of the updates. you have always been spot on!!!!!

Why are other reporters saying Muschamp and Petrino are candidiates. Petrino's contract prohibits and Don't you think enough damage was done when Muschamp left? JJ and Muschamp couldn't agree on tickets, much less anything else!

    Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  25. wow....can't believe all the new names on the HABOTN board...so all the lurkers are now registered except our infamous George..

  26. The family just keeps on growing, but it's good to find a civil and enlightened group of folks...my blood pressure stays at a might tame level here.

  27. Scottie (and others) who live out of state, you guys and gals can probably watch this live on one of the ham TV station websites. ABC 33/40 is going to carry it live I know, as I am sure the others will.

    Just a thought.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Jay is that your office? If not, whose is it?

    Check out the monitor.

  29. What is a good online radio site to listen to for Auburn updates: I have WJOX on right now anything better?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Jay, what happened to this presser being closed to the public? Wouldn't television coverage contradict that statement?

When Bowden came in 93, they sold pins that said"AttitUde". Will Leach sell "pirAttitUde" pins?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Can Mrs Dunn and Mrs Ensminger really be surprised?
Gravy train is over. The Prattville 75 lb league needs an OC.

  38. Nall started packing Nov 30

  39. WEG - Set your facebook to email you of any notices! Missed you at the campfire.

Welcome to all the new, HOtties.

Keep it clean and real (both such relative terms) :-)

Jay G - I'll be working right through any television coverage so I'm hanging on your every word for coverage.

  40. As the best offensive line coach in the country, he more than likely has a job already anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Another "premium" site is reporting these names Jay. How bout we let our insider Jay Tate weigh in on these. My honest opinion is none of these guys will be the next coach at AU.

    P. Johnson
    M. Leach
    BOOM M'FER
    Bobby "Dastardly Villain" Petrino
    Jimbo
    Ol Ball Coach

    Whatcha think Jay?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Monica, I have tried to find the facebook group and I have been unable to. Is there a direct link to the page to apply??

    ReplyDelete
  43. "best offensive line coach in the country". Have you not watched our line the last 2 years?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous10:33 AM

Leach may be the second coming of Terry Bowden, except they will be selling "pirAttitUde" pins this time

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think we will see most of the coaches leave because most had a close relationship with Tuberville. My guess is that it was the unity between the coaches that got Franklin canned.

I do hope to see Rhodes hang around. I doubt Gran or Nall will be there. Ensminger and Knox are likely gone.

Dunn and Willis will probably also be gone.

It will be up to the new coach to replace most of the staff.

    ReplyDelete
  46. You obviously didn't sense my sarcasm. Perhaps I should have said "self proclaimed"

    ReplyDelete
  47. Seeker, Nall is a very good offensive line coach. He is well respected. A bad year this year doesn't change that. He is well known for producing NFL caliber talent. That being said, he is no OC, but he is a very good position coach.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Seeker I'm with you, NO Leach.

  51. Mornin' Will! The only name on your list that I might buy is Fisher, but meh. I agree that zero of those guys wil be our coach

  52. It so ticks me off when an employer expects you to refrain from social networking on company time! Communists.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I know these productivity rules are just silly. For a good laugh, you should see my avatar.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think you can expect that Rhodes and James Willis will stay. Don Dunn and Eddie Gran have good enough reputations that the new man will at least sit down with them. Kevin Yoxall and the strength team are some of the best in the business ... I'd be a little shocked if they're not back.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I would personally like Charlie Strong over Muschamp. Turner Gill wouldn't be a bad hire. We will have to at least interview a minority coach or we will get shredded again by the media.

    ReplyDelete
  56. As for coaches, I know Andy Lutz (dir. of football operations) is staying at least on an interim basis.

    Some coaches already are gone.

Some seem to be taking their time, so maybe they're staying. Everyone is in meetings, so it's been difficult getting face-to-face with each coach.

I just saw AC and Terry Price talking in the defensive team office. That's gotta be hard on everyone.

    see only in alabama:

My wife works at a big federal building in Mobile, wont say which one. She forwarded me an email going around.

Says Tubervilles wife has a drinking problem and he had to go get her from Vegas where she was seen with a family friend. Thats why Tubbs stepped down to be with his family. Not kidding.

I think its horse manure. But only in Alabama. Its like as the world turns. Cameras, radio, tv, speculation, lawyers...its ugly.

  70. Here is one take if you haven't seen it.
    http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/birmingha...&thispage=1

Basically, the BOT are stating that CTT is the one who decided to end the relationship (TIFWIW).

"Auburn trustee Paul Spina said Tuberville and Auburn officials had reached an agreement for him to remain as head coach on Monday, but that by Wednesday it was Tuberville who had changed his mind.

"He met with (Athletics Director) Jay Jacobs on Monday and said he (Tuberville) wanted to start over and fix it, and they talked about who he could go after for assistant coaches," Spina said. "Then he went home (Tuesday), and called Jay and said, `Let's have lunch.' They weren't supposed to meet until after lunch.

"But at lunch, Tommy said he'd talked with (his wife) Suzanne and she wanted him to get out of the business. And Tommy said, `If Auburn will take care of me, that's what I'd like to do.'"

Spina said it was at that point that Jacobs and Auburn President Jay Gogue agreed to work out a satisfactory resignation package for Tuberville.

"These are Tommy Tuberville's terms," said Terry Henley, a former Auburn running back. "His and his family's terms. He wants to stay in Auburn.

  72. ESPN News is going to air the press conference

    ReplyDelete
  73. Mc That sounds like it is more possible than any others.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Some interesting tidbits from the ESPN article by Billy Tucker on Tuberville's firing/resignation:

"Auburn's recruiting class is sitting just outside our top 15 despite not claiming a single ESPNU 150 prospect. The group is led by Travante Stallworth (Leesville, La.), ESPN's No. 21 overall athlete, who had only an offer from Tulsa when he committed to the Tigers this past summer. The class is filled with prospects who, like Stallworth, do not boast a plethora of BCS offers to entice them away from their commitments to Auburn at this time."

Tuberville's recruiting on offense in the time since the classes that brought in Jason Campbell, Ronnie Brown, Carnell Williams, Devin Aromoshudu (sp?) and Ben Obamanu has been way, way overrated. (That's not a slap at the QB's on the current scholarship roster. Dunno what kind of players they are and won't until they get some decent coaching.)

We get all these "highly rated" classes but it's always been a mystery to me how they can be so highly rated when they are filled with second tier prospects that AU is fighting for with schools like Troy, Southern Miss, Tulsa, etc.

Polly Anna, no, just Anne of Green Gables. Just stating how things go over board and fast in this state when football is being discussed.

    ReplyDelete
  76. They just showed Tubs walking out with a fish....

    ReplyDelete
  77. lol @ Anne of Greene Gables

Did JJ just say if CTT hadn't resigned he would have been the Auburn coach next year?

    ReplyDelete
  78. I think TT might be working for ESPN next year ....I think he wants his kids to stay in school there

    ReplyDelete
  79. Very interesting comments from Jacobs so far.

    ReplyDelete
  80. hope he doesn't have the Pat Dye job

    ReplyDelete
  81. I heard Tuberville is resigning because his dog got pregnant. She was in heat, jumped the fence, and boom. It was probably that mutt from down the street who knocked her up. No pedigree whatsoever. So, that slut and the shame she brought on the Tubervilles pretty much forced him into retirement.

    ReplyDelete
  82. come on what are they saying?

    ReplyDelete
  83. I heard Jay ask a question. The audio here is terrible.

Is it possible that he ACTUALLY resigned because he felt like enough was enough - enough getting jerked around?

    ReplyDelete
  84. jj actually sounds like he knows what he is talking about....he is talking about treating TT right
