Oku now an option?
Good afternoon.
Our friends at AuburnSports.com are reporting that TB David Oku from suburban Oklahoma City is planning to visit Auburn next weekend. Though he remains somewhat committed to Tennessee, Oku has made trips to Louisville and Nebraska. He's visiting Syracuse this weekend. Auburn comes next.
Could the Tigers actually land Oku? Impossible to know. Auburn is getting in very late on these kids. Sometimes that actually assists the Tigers' effort -- they're the "new" program with the new staff and the revised expectations.

your stock is rising no. .. ..
You can't put 2 and then delete!!
how bout them pics gping first
So, I can get some tar-- if anyone else has a bag of feathers....
sorry, AU1n- -thought of joke and wanted to replace!
Ahh, yeah you can't replace or edit.
expound - Nice,Miller.
JJ is the only rumor I've seen. I agree with Michael. Yawn.
Wow, even on the internets yawns are contagious
Omnica
But if it is Tuberville as intermediary for Willis with Sabin-- that would be huge and ugly.
I'd be willing to bring a ladder and rip his picture off the side of the stadium for that
Is it bad form and wrong to pick up the question posed on the last thread here (about the Tubs as filthy stinking "intermediary" organizing Willis hire)??
If so, I will delete post and then off myself due to the shame and humiliation I've visited upon the Drummond family.
Arnold
Thanks WDE (taking lips off exhaust hose)
I would settle down, I haven't heard anything credible that Tubs helped Willis out.
But if he did, well, it would be one guy who got fired by Auburn helping out another guy who got fired by Auburn. So, as Auburn, how upset can we be?
Correction: second guy who RESIGNED from Auburn w/$6 MILLION of "good will" in order to be "involved ambassador"
Frankly, if Tubby was helping Willis get a job elsewhere, then good.
I'm glad they were successful. Get is his bohunkus out of Auburn and roll with the Beelzebubbas.
I don't care. Soon enough the flotsam and jetsam will be gone, and we can go about our business.
Is Tubbs Willy Wonka in that "theoretical" scenario?
Not exactly Michael. It'd be one guy who got severance even though he resigned, and told the Pres he'd stick around the community to be an ambassador-- helping out a guy who was fired BUT THEN accepted an offer on the new staff.
so, no, not exactly
AIKMEN
Tubs is Colonel Klink in that scenario
dang
WDEwg - yes, that would be Big Ugly.
TODAYS LEARNING MOMENT: Big Ugly Creek is a major tributary of the Guyandotte River in the Harts Creek District of Lincoln County, West Virginia
Yeah, sorry for skipping all the high points about this and that. Certainly Tuberville wasn't forced to resign, because they would not have lied about it. But that is a discussion of long ago.
I think Willis is scuzz, but I don't care that he is gone and I don't care who helped him get gone. There are more important things in life than football rivalries, and being personal friends of both Saban and Willis, I am not sure Tuberville would be sent to hell for doing a couple of friends a favor. (and by hell, I mean Tuscaloosa)
Anyway, this is still all message board hypothetical talk. Jay, have you heard anything on this?
Are we still debating that Tuberville was or was not fired?
I'd wager a guess that his mom has a pretty good idea.
Where has this originated from?
And I asked this yesterday, is Willis irreplaceable?
Who was it on here who posted something about him having some dirt under his fingernails when it comes to recruitng? Someone posted that when he was originally let go.
This comment has been removed by the author.
People around here forget things, FSJ. Why, just a couple of weeks ago it was 10 peops against me telling me Chizik was a great hire.
Please no, Inverness. Shall we all put the Tuberville fired/resigned monkey back in the barrel?
Oku-nowan-option sounds like a Pacific island
that's what she said.
All I saw was FSJ's comment about the guy's mom.
No problem.
Thanks for the shout out Jay.
Chris..
I'm sure that Auburn gave him the $5.1 million out of the goodness of their hearts.......even though he chose to resign...
Just because.
OK, I'll change the subject.
Do you folks think it is
1) a good sign that 3 huge stud recruits are coming next weekend, so close to signing day
and
2) do we have a shot at any of them
FSJ: That's what Jay Jacobs said. It was the right thing to do.
michael....
I think Chizik was a great hire..
Like someone said yesterday - Willis is dead to me.
Sure. Ok. You're right. I've completely changed my opinion.
Did anyone else see/hear the comments by Oku on that youtube clip? He says AU was in the lead during the camp but talked a bunch about Coach Gran.
Good to see him coming in. Who's recruitng this kid? Coach Taylor?
Now do I think it is possible that Tuberville found out they were trying to replace him and forced the issue..
You bet...
It is still a firing.
If JJ gets fired, I'm going to apply for the job.
Then I am going to spend my day on the HABOTN, telling you everything that is going on and asking the group what I should do about it.
How could that plan fail?
I have it from absolutely no sources that Jacobs will be fired and replaced by Tuberville. I also understand Patrick Fain Dye will jump off a bridge upon hearing the news and lose his pants again.
Anyway..
Jay...have you heard any rumblings from your fellow beat writers about how long Gottfried will last?
Aubie..
That is a great idea..
Jet notes ...
1. Tubs walks in meeting as coach, leaves meeting as ex-coach.
2. Chiz was unexpected choice. We love him and the Delta Force Z now.
3. Willis was working with the angels one day, the Devil the next. He sleeps with the fishes soon.
4. Steve concerned about our reputation. Jet, if he were female, would be Joan Jet (obscure 1980s musical reference).
The End.
By the way, I am still wondering how I would explain to my wife how I lost my pants. That had to be a special conversation.
Well see...what happened is...
I have lost a bunch of weight...and the darn pants just slipped off.. I didnt' even notice.
If that don't work... Deny, Deny, Deny..
Joan Jett was one of two members of The Runaways that went on to solo success...who was the other?
Lita Ford?
If Jacobs gets fired, I'm calling his Mom to get the "real story"
Only in the strange, Twilight Zone universe of Auburn reporting/ journalism, is someone's MOTHER deemed a "reliable and credible source."
And please ask my Mother about me. She thinks I'm swell.
If his mother says he was fired, print it.
She thinks I'm swelled too.
er... swell
Okunow-Anoption?
I thought he was the QB at Navy.
Bingo
And BINGO as well on the mom being contacted in the first place.
"Olive, this is Kevin Scarbinsky....."
I wonder if Olive kissed Scarbinsky deadly -- Lita Ford style.
She thinks I'm swelled too.
I can actually use the LOL moniker on that one Big Swole.
Dude, who was hotter?
Joan or lita?
I had a small thing for Lita when I was a teenager.....really smalll -- rim shot
'aight - I'm headed to get a slice from Sal's.
Laters.
"If I closed my eyes forever."
Listen to Dunaway and Brown and you'll probably hear me call in the next 20 minutes.

Joan - she likes Carmen Electra!!
Jay G.
Did you like my email i sent to the Max Round Table today?
there are actually people here that are worse posters than me. incredible.
PF, who are you referring to?
There are now PF...you're welcome!
If I was George Bamfo, I woudl change my name to
George B.A. Mofo. that would be the awesomest name ever
I prefer my passive agressivness to remain cloudy.
definitely not you, though, mobilz. I consider you in the top 3 here.
As for me, I never stray far from the shallow end of the gene pool.
well it sure wasn't me... this time.
or I guess now it is me
So, Tubs helped Willis get in touch with Saban, so Jay Jacobs is gonna get canned and Tubs will be hired in his place?
And Lowder and Rane will get married at midfield at halftime of the season opener with Tubs officiating the ceremony.
Jay Jacobs will be Best Man and Maid of Honor. Willis will play the organ.
Clinton Durst will be the ring bearer.
I'm guessing CGC is focusing on recruits right now instead of coaches. Is it safe to assume we will hire some coaches after signing day? Any news on what is actually happening with candidates?
AUn ... were you the mystery emailer?
would it be safe to assume that IF there's something big, the lid will be kept on (or efforts to that effect) until at least Sunday evening after visitors have left campus?
i'm thinking it "was the right thing to do" because j. sexton had a client who was approached by au ptb and sexton shared that info with tubbs. as this was a direct violation of tubbs' contract, paying him the money became "the right thing to do."
Peter HAHAHA I love your passive aggressiveness. RE: all those other posts, I have shown amazing restraint. Congrats to me.
Jay, do thew players typically arrive for their off. visits tonight? I assume the ones who fly come in via ATL. When their folks come with them, does AU put the family up for the weekend too? Do the players actually stay with their hosts throughout the weekend?
Peter's been hitting on my hot FB friends.
I try to stay below the line. I get very close to that ceiling.
Mon - speaking of friends, how is Dirty!
Dirty is doing very well. She finds out the sex of baby Dirty on Wednesday.
What other posts?
Mon ... now I will show restraint. For once.
xcellent!! How exciting.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Dirty is a Hottie HABOTN that shows herself far and few in between!! She is stealthy that way.
Hey Mon, I was skimming past soe posts and got to your post about the sex of Dirty's baby. Upon first glance, you can imagine which words jumped off the screen at me. Once I read the full post, you can imagine my disappointment.
Do we have odds pending?
JJ getting canned?
Tubs taking over?
your friends were dancing. I like dancing. That's all.
PF - Deep thoughts?
Tubs as AD?
Athletic Director!? Athletic Director!? What?!?!?
That is the most asinine thing I've ever heard in my life.
I love lamp.
Will- same word jumped out at me. But I was relieved, not disappointed. I have only the utmost respect for Dirty.
(Trying to earn brownie points with Monica... did it work?)
Official visits almost always begin on Friday between 5 and 10 p.m.
Occasionally, like the Oregon DT this weekend, they begin on Thursday.
I don't know about families and how they're accommodated.
Players hosts ... it's not a 24-hour-a-day thing. Most of that hosting is done on Friday and Saturday night.
Yes I was the Emailier Jay G.
Just got tired of this story....
Let it go already...JW is gone....
Bye Bye....
Jet: I concur.
Seriously, I do.
Mobilz, my man.
I'm with you. Enough about Willis ... gone, soon to be forgotten.
THT,
Better not mess with Mon sister Dirty like that....
Have you ever had a Country Girl Brewton-Style Ass Whooping!
Didn't they use to rassle as a tag team called "Down n Dirty?"
No? Musta been someone else.
Who is Willis?
Jet lets talk about how Auburn can get Tyrik Rollison committment!!!!
Tar, like you, I'm sure Dirty is a lovely person, but anytime the words Dirty and sex appear in the same post, all of the other words in the post tend to fade away.
I think I had read where Rollison and his family are driving from Texas tonight after his Basketball game. I would think they would be there tomorrow sometime.
I hope we get Tryik Rollison.
Peter - umm...my bad :-)
Don't mess with Dirty. Period.
AU1,
My thoughts are shallow. They can usually be summed up in a sentence or two.
My shallow thought for today involved Tubs as AD. It held no credence.
Tyrik Rollison facebook status " is down to auburn and kansas state" raymond cotton has them in his top 3 as well now
Jet,
Wasn't there a Dustin "Dirty" Hayes or something like that?
I think he likes Gus a lot ... he's my concern. He figures that Gus is a 1 and done ... so what?
Bill Snyder looks like a 1 and done at K-State to me ... so what's to stop Gus from heading off to Manhattan after one season where guess who is waiting on him?
Those are the kind of bad thoughts I have in the middle of the night.
I hail from the the metropolis of River Falls, home to one former AU Forward Frank Tolbert. Don't blink or you may miss the town. It was small but I miss it!
I see that some might be concerned about his ability to qualify.
I don't know nothin' 'bout no Dirty. I've had a country girl whuppin' before, and, well, it ain't nothin' I'm lookin' for seconds on.
Jhag,
I say to him "Noooooooo Mr. Cotton, don't come around now that we a looking elsewhere...."
Hold Auburn Hostage when you were their "Guy", makes no sense....
It was his QB position to have for the taking...Tooooo Bad so Sad!!!
Govols.com had an article stating that UTs' coaches salaries for 2009 would be 5.325 million dollars. Does AU have to release that information or can it remain private? I am just curious to see the total.
I sent him a message and now he has his r and u in the right place.
PF - The Tubs thing struck a nerve with some so it was good.
Funny story about Frank Tolbert. Back many years ago I can remember at a Jr. League basketball practice a little 6 year old came in with a a 6th finger on each hand and was wanting to shoot on the goal we were using. Some of the other guys started yelling at him, "Go on Frank, Go On now" he got upset and started crying , grabbed his basketball and ran out of the gym. I never saw him again til the day I turned my T.V. on in Kentucky and saw AU playing VA I believe and my jaw about dropped to the floor when I saw Frank Tolbert's name flash up on the TV Screen. He had grown just a little since I saw him last.
that wasn't my thought, AU1, I just put a bunch of random posts together to establish a rumor timeline of sorts.

PF, your multiple personalities are confusing
Sorry. One is real. One is not. There is a reason to log in as both, just not here... I'll try and be more precise.
Oh. Well thankyou, it is not confusing at all anymore.
This last minute recruiting thing is kinda tripping me out. At one point, it looked like Auburn was going to be done by January 1, and simply maintaining the commits until signing day. Now, WOW, we've got a dude named Oku visiting in late January.
Tubs as AD? Do we really want the guy that hired Tony Franklin as the AD who hires all of the head coaches at Auburn?
Salary information will be released at some point. It takes time to file FOI requests for that stuff ... and to actually receive it.
Following one of the defenses people made for the Chizik hiring, at least he knows what not to do due to his lack of success in that field.
Perhaps,perhaps not
Pretty deep stuff Tim.
if we're perhapsing things, perhaps Auburn will be given the death penalty for Saban's hundred dollar handshakes.

tolbert had extraneous fingers?
PF ...
Taking your thought a step further ... perhaps we'll see an announcement this weekend that Ensminger will be a GA at UAT.
"Nothing is worse than doing nothing"
-BlueFoxFinancial.com/tv1 commercial that just aired on Fox here.
Figured it fit in with the profound things being said today.
I doubt we'll get many more walk ons that will work hard after the way this staff treated Clinton Durst.
I fear what Auburn will reap for that among the many other recent weirdness.
dowhat--ever run into a mjor ryan over there? bud o' mine. (ang)
I doubt the Durst situation affects any potential walk-ons.
PF, why would a walk on even look at this program now?
Cause they have a dream, Gnome.
New coaches, new system, record indicates low talent level, every job is up for grabs. Auburn's a walk-on's dream.
Why do walk-ons ever look at a program? It seems like a futile battle from the start. Position walk-ons will look at the Durst situation the same as we do, he's a whiny kicker.
Why the heck are we worried about walk-ons, anyway? Most end up as scout team.
agree with astatguy
I suppose this is one of those agree to disagree moments.
Doesn't matter. Not like Auburn wins the SEC next year. Be lucky to win 2 conference games.
Takes a long time to rebuild.
I agree with you, PF. Non issue to me.
Walk-ons are important. Ask Rod Smith. He will tell you.
Gnome, were you an under appreciated walk-on in a past life? I need to context.
i knew one au walk on named danny skutack. started as an lb. crazy guy. when he and i parted ways in 1977, (we were both military brats), we were about the same size. when he played at au, he had me by nearly 100 lbs...he could deliver the mail.
And jeremy ingle.
Kevin greene wouldve never been able to wrestle ric flair if it wasn't for our walk on program.
And without walk-ons, we would never have had the movie Rudy. I bet you never thought of that. Think about it. Where would the world be without that movie?
I still hold that a conversation about the effect on walk-ons is next to ridiculous.
However, in the spirit of the HABOTN, I'll add this: How many of the walk ons that you name would have been affected had a Durst-esque situation had happened prior to their enrollment? My guess is zero. It doesn't fit in with the mentality of a walk-on.
I say we go no-punt next year... or at least rarely-punt. It sounds crazy, but the stats (and the coach who does it) back this approach:

And yea, I thought not given Durst a scholarship was a bonehead move. I just hope we don't pay for it like we did with Robert McGinty. Some things are no brainers. Giving a scholarship to walkons that become starters is a no brainer. There are scholarships wasted on players (Hart) that rarely if ever play.
I like the no punt concepts. We line up in a 3 deep power I and run on every single play. With 4 downs, it will be 2.5 yards and a cloud of dust football.
Haha if you want to approach it that way you can, but I think Malzhan can average more than 2.5 yards per play with his offense.
Walk-ons are important, of course. But the bottom line is that our schollies are gold -- absolute gold.
I don't think we can't afford to spend a nugget d'or right now for a punter. We've got one on scholarship, and three more will surely walk on this summer.
I hate it that Durst leaves with bad feelings, but this ain't intramurals.
Yea, well, I am talking a consistent 2.5 yards and consistent injuries, given and received.
Punting can cost us ballgames. Ask Ryan Shoemaker. He will tell you.
...and wouldn't Durst's story INSPIRE walk-ons at Auburn? Despite the scholarship situation, he fulfilled the dream of a Walk-On, starting and becoming a star(sic).
Haha, or you could go the opposite way to the offense my roommate likes to suggest for teams that struggle on offense. Just throw deep every play. Odds are you score a couple times on pure luck. Remember 3-2? Exactly.
Someone needs to shoot this conversation and put it out of my misery.
I think we have a shot with Oku. He was high on us before the Tony Franklin experiment. He feared that we would get away from power running and dropped us.

oku is ok
Apparently Atchinson and Benton showed up for surprise visits this weekend. War Eagle!
(I don't have a rivals password, I recognized Atchinson's photo and went to the AL.com comments to find Benton's name)
Anyone know who the mystery visitors being reported on rivals are?
Ah, thanks Blake. I recognized the face but didn't feel up to doing the research. Wasn't Atchinson an Auburn recruit at one point?
Yes he was, looks like he might be one again soon. Currently committed to 'Bama.
Don't know a lot about budget for the athletic department but I think we will surpass last years recruiting budget.
Atchinson coming may be a sign. A while back I heard that Bama was encouraging him look around because they had higher LB prospects they felt they would get. I will forgive him for his indiscretions with the evil empire but only because he's 6-3
He also runs a 4.54 40 or something like that. I'll take him.
I am cowering in the corner knowing that Omnica is not happy with conversation. Be afraid.
In case any of ya'll have annoying friends who argue against the SEC being the premier conference:
http://is.gd/h1DF
lol That's kind of you, Big Cat.
Luper and Trooper must be persuasive.
Mon,
With Benton showing up this weekend, do you still believe he is/was Jimmy Sexton-ing us?
Cue up the Shaft music when Troop and Lupe stroll in the house.
Jay G ...
A brief respite from recruiting ... what is your guess on the crowd for Sunday's women's hoops showdown?
I don't know Miller. I am perplexed and I have trust issues.
Monica ...
Heed the words of your hero, Ronald Reagan ... trust, but verify
I saw mention earlier today, Jet, that there had been 11k tickets sold... I'm not sure how accurate it is though.
I know I have 4 tickets.
Jet,
Heed the words of your hero, Joan Crawford..."Don't f*** with me fellas. This ain't my first time at the rodeo."
I'd love to go ... but we've got a reception that afternoon that I can't avoid
Jet -- 9,000.
Kinda fiesty myself tonight, Monica.
I'm wondering if it qualifies as the biggest game in 20 years.
"feisty" is right up there with "scrappy"
I cooked a very yummy steak for dinner. It was grass-fed beef and it was outrageously delicious.
Beef ... it's what's for dinner.
Unless you went to Zaxby's ... then you got Turbo Prop his usual Wings and Things, and I got my Buffalo/Blue salad.
Wonder what Lebo will think if the women pack BE for the Tennessee game? I don't know enough about basketball to evaluate his X's and O's, but a salesman he is not. And I mean the term salesman in a good sense.
Just caught up and please no more wire hangers.
And how does the punt conversation continue? Stunning.
One more thing "Yankified?" Official word of the day from the Baltimoron.
If I hear any more about Limp Biskit Durst, I think I'm going to barf.
So some surprises huh? Surprises could be good.
Every time an SEC team has played in the BCSBSNC, they have won. Nuff said.
Is Smash Williams gonna be able to get over his fear of getting hit?
Sorry I haven't been around today, but my Ipod died. I'm kinda torn up.
Bro ... I'm with you ... We're hurtin' with you.
As for the Tony Franklin Experiment, I prefer to refer to it as the Tony Franklin Experience. Why experience? Because I have never experienced anything like it.
j-z, I feel your pain. My iPod and Mac died the same week recently. I would have been able to recover all of the media I had saved on the Mac, but I checked the wrong darn box when reinstalling the OS. I was so devastated, I swore I'd never invest in music again. YouTube only from here on out. That way, as long as I have the internets, I have music.
200
PF, invest in an external USB drive. I have my files mirrored to two external drives once per day. I like the security.
So PF/Monica ...
Worst thread to get past 200?
