Rocker on the way?
1/12/09, MORNING
Hey everyone. A website a few of you turned me to, Footballscoop.com, reports this morning that Ole Miss assistant Tracy Rocker has accepted a job at Auburn. He has been offered the defensive line gig.
UPDATE @ 3:30 p.m.: I expect official confirmation to roll out within the next 90 minutes.
Rocker, 42, won the 1988 Outland Trophy as an Auburn defensive tackle. He has been coaching college ball since taking his first job at West Alabama in 1994. He also has made stops at Troy State, Cincinnati and Arkansas -- where he coached with Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn in 2006.

uno!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dos
very nice move again by Chiz.
And a belated great win to the women's team. For selfish reasons, I hope they get sent to the East Lansing site for the first two rounds that I can see them in person during the tourney.
brad, your profile pic always cracks me up. what game was that taken at?
that's pretty cool to have a former Tiger back in the fold in Rocker. he is a very large human being.
Brad's got a little Capt'n in him!
Scottie -
That was taken at the West Virginia game. My girlfriend and I have a running thing by taking Capt. Morgan poses at different places. I have accomplished this feat at Wrigley Field, Auburn games, and other sporting events. Good times.
I think having Rocker coaching the line would be fantastic! Any idea if Chiz has similar ideas to Tubs about splitting the interior and exterior linemen?
Where's Michael?
I need him to give me grief over that "?" in my headline ...
Brad - Sorry I missed you at WVU. Where was the photo taken? Not in the parking lot of that Boston Beanery was it?
I love this hire. I hope it is true. As we all know, Arkansas always seemed to have a tough line. I also like the idea of bringing one of the most decorated Auburn athletes back home.
Jay, the "?" is brilliant! Plausible deniability!
Yes sir!
AU -
I was in the Auburn RV lot by the Coliseum. WVU actually gave Auburn fans there own lot, and I had a connection to friends with an RV, grill, and booze. It was a long walk to the stadium, but a solid place to party.
In other news, Kate Winslet (the real one; not Becky B. from the Cotton Bowl) is receiving official HABOTN adulation for her swell Golden Globes get-up.
Well played.
If true this hire will be well received by the AU family. Chiz has done a really nice job of assembling this staff so far.
My biggest remaining concern is offensive line coach. Is there any chance Searels is still in the picture?
A wed wose! how womantic!
Jay,
Was that 6,000 attendance number legit for the game yesterday?
Brad, you're not joking about the long walk at WVU. You can't go 500 yards without hitting a hill.
We drove past that a few times and thought about stopping by. There was one trailer that was just all AU'd up. We ended up by the Beanery and walked from there.
6,000 seems a bit high, but that's the largest women's crowd I've ever seen at Auburn.
JGT - It did seem that it was up hill every way you walked. I don't think I went down hill accept to get to my seat.
Can Rocker coach the OL too??!!?? Crap!
Anyone got a chance to talk with Chaz Ramsey? Someone needs to slap the boy, tell him to be a man, and get him back on the football field.
I approached the stadium from behind the press box (as you'd expect, nach) and the cliff back there was just unreal.
I'm fairly in shape and that set of stairs beat me up.
Goldberg is doin' the "sources" thing on his blog (says Rocker has agreed to come) and also saying that John Tompson is being looked at for secondary coach.
I remember back in the day of the Boltons, Vickie Orr, Linda Godby, Chantel Tremitiere, etc., some large crowds for UT and UGA.
Griff, homes, you haven't yet simmered as suggested. Please adhere. It's better for you.
I heard the beanery was "interesting" from a few people. We had a relatively low key day though at WVU since I was warned by a student there to keep on eye on my woman for protection reasons. Not so fun in that respect.
Goldberg has some home-run sources, too, so I'm sure Rocker is a go.
That decision wasn't made until early this morning, though.
If this happens, I think "We Will Rock You" would be a fun stadium song.
Eye on your woman?
Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.
On another note, Chaz will be back.
Leave a note for the milkman: NO MORE CHEESE.
My favorite Rocker story ... an agent was messing with Kevin Porter and wanting him to lure Rocker along too.
Agent pays Porter to bring Rocker to Atlanta for a fun weekend ... and both get hooked up financially and likely otherwise. Auburn finds out and declares both ineligible before a bowl game -- the Syracuse game, I believe.
One problem: the large human that Porter called "Big Tracy: all weekend wasn't really Rocker. Tracy, who was known as "Rock," proved his innocence with witnesses and had his eligibility restored. Porter, of course, did not.
Meaning that stuff would be said in her direction that would not be considered befitting of an upstanding gentleman.
That's what I meant. Sorry to sound possessive there. That was not the intent.
eye on your livestock would be more fitting for wvu.
Brad - You are right..at about 5:30pm some guys after buying myself and wife a round of brews at the Beanery came to our table and said. "Just so you know, we are not all Aholes." Come 6:30pm, I ran into my first one. By the end of the night...we met them all.
Brutal.
Jay,
Is David Rocker,(brother and former player) coming as well? a package deal or sorts?
Is Tracy Rocker sponsered by Bryan meat products?
Tracy as been with Houston Nutt for awhile, I think its a great hire.
Maybe he can revisit his old trophy and polish it up.
Yeah AU, we had our fair share too. Luckily myself and the crew of guys I was with are all over 6 feet tall and weigh 200+ each, so no one really got too close.
When your fight song is played by the school's marching band and it features a banjo solo, well, it says a lot.
Sorry, Omnica ... I realize it is the state of your residence, but hopefully you will escape soon.
Jet - Now that made me crack up loudly in my office.
Hilarious Jet! Did any of you see the baton twirler in the band? I'm an open minded guy, but that's the first dude baton guy I've ever seen.
David Rocker is a minister in Fayetteville, Georgia. He's a nice fella.
Georgia had some dude in their flag corp a few years back. hilarious.
I wasn't at the game, but I've been sentenced to a visit there before.
In-law relatives. Believe me, I heard from them after the game. It's the first time other than Christmas cards I ever hear from them.
So, I'd just as soon take a banjo to their cranium next fall.
Hotties,
Good Morning!!!
Al.com confirming the CTR Hire....
Also say's CGC is looking at CJT also!!!
"Welcome Coach Tracy Rocker"
how about a flaming banjo on a stick pre kickoff?
The Mountaineer could be kind of like FSU's flaming spear....but with less teeth than the horse.
For all you banjo people out there...
Great Hire...Welcome Home Coach Rocker.
With just an OL coach and DB coach left to hire, the focus now has to turn to these players Chizik has been going after, the ones we weren't previously pursuing. It sounds like some of them have reacted positive, but until we get some commits, it could just be smoke being introduced to Chizik's sphincter. I want to see something substantial.
Welcome home Coach Rocker.
How about the first time Noel Devine comes running around the end on a sweep, Eltoro pulls out a banjo and clotheslines him.
centretiger..you from centre,al? did you go to auburn? I ask because i had lots of friends from centre.
Auburn made an offer to a WR in Texas last week:
Cobi Hamilton
Wide Receiver
Texarkana (TX) Texas
Ht: 6-foot-3
Wt: 190 lbs
Forty: 4.56 secs
*Considering setting up an official visit
Also One of the nation's top defensive tackle prospects, Tallahassee, Corey Gaines has set up an official visit to Auburn. Gaines is rated by Rivals.com as the country's No. 14 defensive tackle.
Corey Gaines
Ht: 6-foot-0, Wt: 274 lbs
Harrison ...
Centre? My madre and padre were from Centre.
Mobile ...
This receiver is 5-foot-3, right?
Couldn't be 6-3.
Jet,
Can you imagine that banjo starts playing the "Theme from Deliverance" when he's in the backfield about to take a hand off....and he hears from across from Eltoro "Get ready to squeal like a pig, son"!!!!
I grew up in Gadsden, ended up with lots of friends from centre in high school and college.
No... I know it's hard to believe we are pursuing a tall receiver... but that's what Super Duper Trooper is bring to the table!!!
I'm just going to throw it out there that somebody needs to put up a post on the old thread when there's a new thread up. I tend to leave the comments up and just refresh. Jet, there's a post up for you on the old thread. I love the decapitation by banjo theme. Can we douse their band in moonshine and set them on fire at halftime?
Good news
For what it's worth, I knew the 89 Iron Bowl was ours when Bama's band had flag guys in it. Dunzo.
j-z - JGT usually will chime in and say there is a new thread up....it might be a tad busy for him today.
Since Hamilton is from Texarkana, this song is appropriate.
Someone fill me in on who John Thompson is, please. I thought CJT was the former basketball coach at G'Town and CJTjr was the current basketball coach at G'Town. Why are we hiring a basketball coach as a DB coach?
I guess he could teach them to box out and rebound jump balls?
Sounds like another package deal in the works. CJT would be a great hire. This coaching staff sure does look good. It's hard not to drink the kool-aid.
Wish Cobra Commander hadn't turned into Douche of the Year. I'd like to hear his take on a song or two to bring in the new coaches.
Also, I would like to officially nominate "Kicker on a Stick" as the official mascot of the HABOTN.
Someone artic should come up with a logo and the next printing of HABOTN tee-shirts should have the Kicker on a Stick logo on the back of the T.
isn't TL son a high rated recruit?
That last post should say"artistic" not artic.
The kicker on a stick logo is in the works.
D, I was thinking the same thing! Thompson Jr (daddy) was great at recruiting big men though. And JT3ran the Ivy League with an iron fist! I'm just not sure how that will translate on the gridiron though. But who knows Chiz had been pretty good with his hires so far.
The Rock is back home where he belongs. WDE!
Here is my shot at the logo.
Here is a little about John Thompson from Wikipedia.
For more John Thompson information, see the link at the bottom of the wikipedia article.
For a minute there I thought you all were saying we had wrestled JT3 away from Georgetown to coach the Men's b-ball team.
That would AUsome!
looks painful sensi. although kicker on a stick is probably hard to pull off without looking like there's a stick up the kicker's butt
Yes and no. Not from Centre, AL but live here now. As a matter of fact, I just moved here in November. I did not go to Auburn. I went to Troy. I did however grow up going to AU football and basketball games, so that explains my obsession with AU athletics...
Sensi, not quite what I had envisioned. We need more blood and gore than that to inspire fear in our kickers.
No offense taken. Alabama is not free of the kind of people you met in WV.
Monica, We have our own subspecies here. It's called anyone who lives in Chilton or Perry counties.
Well, nothing says "Obey Me!" like a head on a stick.
It just thrills my heart to see "Kicker on a Stick" take a life of its own.
Has anyone noticed that 5 of our former assistant coaches haven't been hired by anyone?
Well, Nall got out of the biz altogether.
Franklin is back to consulting.
Gran, Knox, Dunn, et.al were mentioned in a lot of coaching searches.
BTW, just got word Raven Gray is having an issue with attending classes. Don't look for him to be back.
Suntiger - I believe he is not even in school now.
Brad & AU1N04, back to your conversation about WVU fans...we hadn't even been off the bus 5 mins and were walking across the parking lot and some young guys yelled, "F*** you, Auburn!" We were just minding our own business, not even looking at anyone. And that was just the first thing that happened.
Mr. Jay G. Tate, (or any other folks in the know)
What is the status of Reggie Hunt, RB from Daphne? I recall there being an academic issue last yr and he was on the fence until just before the season, which ultimately did not go his way. Will he be suiting up this yr?
Luv - I had been told many times that day to be intimate with Auburn. F Auburn to be exact.
LuvAU68,
To be completely random, that sounds similar to the first Va Tech fan I ran into on Bourbon at the '05 Sugar Bowl yelling, "SEC! Stands for Suck Everybody's [South Carolina Mascot]!"
To be fair, we didn't run into too many like that, but it was interesting, to say the least.
AU1N04, we won't ever go back there. It was as bad - if not worse - than Baton Rouge.
Monica, you're right about Alabama having people like that. Unfortunately, there's probably AU fans like that.
Mr. United is tired.
Does anyone know what time Mr. Tate will be on AM 740 this afternoon?
weagle,
I was impressed with how polite the VTECH fans were in N.O. We had a great time with all of them on Bourbon St, buying each other drinks, singing fight songs, yelling our respective cheers. I did not see any bad behavior from either side for that game.
Same thing for Neb fans in Dallas, they were loud, talked funny, and brought a ton of hot blonde headed girls with them, and they were alot of fun to be around.
Doesn't Mr. United know that this isn't the Jim Rome show?
12 noon to 2 pm is the worst spot of sports talk radio in the state of Alabama, in my humble opinion.
I've heard alot of bad stuff about tailgating at LSU. I've had a blast down there, and can't wait to go back.
I did take offense to some youths heckling a AU man and his family, and stepped up to remedy the situation along with my LSU hosts/friends.
I'm getting on WMSP for the next 90 minutes.
Come check it out.

Question:
Why is the Birmingham News reporting that we have offered the qb, Cooper, from Daphne, Alabama?
I live in Mobile and have never heard of the kid and I follow sports in detail. No other sites have reported such. Why would we offer this kid over Cotton or Moseley? Cooper's other offers are from USA(south alabama) 1st year prograM.
Is this a hoax, like last year where the kid in California held a press conference on his college choice to find out no one had ever offered him.

On right now J-Z.
PDWT, that kid is Kevin Hart and he was from Oregon.
You can watch it HERE by searching through the archived videos in the player.
no check out al.com, recruiting article, its a kid named cooper from Daphne, Alabama.
Unlike what I expected, when I went to the WVU game I had nothing but decent encounters. I actually had several WVU boosters upset that we lost as they had put money on us for the win. This was mainly done simply to get rid of Stewart, but hey it was a nice parting gift to ensure they had another year of a horrible coach!
I am talking about the recruiting hoax kid from last year. Was there another?
South Carolina and Spurrier are getting trashed in Atlanta for backing off their scholly offer to Jonathon Davis. South Carolina will no longer be allowed to recruit at Tucker High School. I feel badly for Davis, but it's good finally to see another school get thrown under a bus.
Tucker won their first state championship this year. Davis is a 5' 7", 195 lb. S/LB/RB who is rated **** by a national service. Here's a list of Tucker almuni (including Neiko Thorpe, Jabari Davis, Patrick Pass and James Swinton):

You guys do not know me at all but Jay, I work with a big-time Auburn defensive end that played 86-89 and he talked to Tracy this morning and confirmed that he accepted. Not that anyone here would think me credible, but I do know it as a fact-fwiw
atsa, I read the same thing. One thing stood out. FIVE FOOT SEVEN. I am that tall and my friends make fun of me for being short (Note: I do not hang out with D1 football players, like this guy will). They can call him a 4 star guy all they want, that's too short. Justin Fetsko was taller than that. Markeith and Clifton were that tall!
P.S.
No Reggie Hunt sightings? Hello? Bueller?

Here is the article about Cooper.
Just a week ago, Robert Cooper seemed bound for UAB. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound quarterback was widely considered a sleeper after starting just one season at the position for Daphne High.
Now, Cooper has multiple offers, including one from Auburn.
New Tigers offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn likes what he's seen of Cooper and head coach Gene Chizik offered Cooper a scholarship just before the prospect left for an official visit to UAB.
"Coach Chizik told me that he and Coach Malzahn watched my film and were really impressed with what I can do throwing the ball and running the ball," Cooper said. "I watched the GMAC Bowl on television and I really like (Malzahn's Tulsa) offense. Right now, it's between UAB and Auburn for me."
I'm 5'7". Can I play?
And apparently now we are the haybotn...not habotn.
This has to be a hoax right?
1 year starter, UAB? I live in Mobile and have never heard of the guy, he didnt even make the 1st or 2nd all metro team.
Robusto -
Totally agree about LSU. One of the BEST road experiences that I have ever had. I also agree with the assessment of VA TECH fans. They were great and loved to party (and the girls were fun too!)
Jay is trippin.
Sorry, Mr. Jay G. Tate, but Tebow is popular because he is real. Plain and simple.
Maybe Cooper will be in there for the wild whatever formation. At 5-7, you won't be able to see him behind the O-Line.
also 5"7". and slow. i definitely can not play. I love how my friends that are 5'10" at best act like how tall they are and make short jokes. like 5'10" would start at center on a jr high b-ball team
Dangit, who is this caller? He's right, it's the leadership that gives Tebow the "It" factor.
I'm agreeing with bama fans again...ugh
Lowcountry,
If Ziemba continues his stellar blocking techniques, plenty of DEs will see whoever they want to in the backfield.
We need to fix the line problems.
Recruiting hoax kid was Kevin Hart I believe. It was one of the most pathetic stories in all of sports.
Sensi, I couldn't agree more. I'm still hoping that the reason we haven't named an O-Line coach yet is because Mike Munchak was still in the playoffs.
That was sad, SteveFC. Kid needs help.
OK This dude needs to chill...
PDWT - just did a search on Cooper, here's something for you:
Robert Cooper
God knows I hate Doug Amos, but this show is so much better when he is there.
Cooper's: GPA: 3.5 and ACT: 27
That's interesting. Last "smart guy" QB AU signed currently third on the dc barreling towards a career in building science.
Give 'em hell Jay! I've been over Barkley since he spit on that kid.
Garrett Wolfe, who led the nation in rushing at Northern Illinois and now plays for the Chicago Bears is 5' 7".
nice logo, sensi. i had something a little more "apocalypse now" in mind...
How about Barkley on a Stick?
Someone call in and ask Moon his thoughts on the Theory of Relativity since he is taking on all caller.
What a douche.
general realitity or special relativity?
I just want everyone to know that I am now HABOTNing with Google Chrome. I am soo 2009.
I have to say, so far, I'm digging it.
barkley on a stick? ouch
why is jay talking bad about me on the radio
I agree asta, but this guy from GA that So Car pulled their offer from does not play RB, he plays DB or safety. I think you can play a role on offense and special teams at that height, but to defend D1 WR's who are typically six to eight inches taller, not to mention a few lbs heavier is a difft story.
We need Joe Wickline for our OL Coach. Mega Recruiter and heck of an OL Coach for Spread offenses.
Also I hope we get the QB Tyrik Rollison from TX.
Will - He is a LB that they were going to move to safety I believe.
Rollison made a 13 on his ACT.
What are our chances on Bryce Brown? Don't know much about him, is he a good fit for Malz's offense. (hard to imagine a bad fit for this offense)
a bad fit for this offense would be chris todd. or ron dayne.
AU1N04- Thanks, I couldn't recall where he played, knew he was being recruited as safety.
Barkley- That has to be some sort of record for the lowest ACT score. Did he take it with his eyes closed?
From watching the Army All-American game, Bryce Brown could definitely work in Malz's offense.
What about Cencade Pennington or Eric Hines-Tucker? Would they be good fits Harrison?
i think about half the guys i went to high school with made around a 13.
will-those guys could be on "special teams"
He is a beast but I have not seen anything lately about him coming to Auburn on an official visit. Rivals and Scout don't even have AU listed as one of his options.
Bryce Brown could work in Tony Franklin's offense. I watched a few of his interviews and got the impression he would go to Miami to play with his brother, but who knows. He's good in my book either way, because he kept his brother from going to bama.
HABOTN radio is on point today. nice work to JG and 'Mr.' Bag. :)
Harrison,
I think anyone who makes a 13 on the ACT should automatically be on "special" teams. In fact they should ride on a "special" bus to the games and take "special" classes as well.
Cencade Pennington, remember seeing that guy in High School run up and down the field against my Alma Mater (Andalusia High School). He was a bust at Auburn though.
will, you've obviously never been to glencoe
Nope, I'm from north Baldwin County, all we raise are mediocre WRs named Mix and super highly successful bankers who live in the Lee County area.
Cencade was a nice guy, though. i had a few classes with him back in the day at AU.
Jay G. and Moon may hate me for posting this, but it is too cool not to do so.

Totally safe for work and children.
DoWhat? has spurred an idea ... best player you competed against ... any sport. Name the player and sport.
That way we are not limited to football as not to discriminate against the female ladies of the girl Hotties.
Turbo Prop, son of Jet, is considering a side business of taking the ACT for anyone who needs it, and may be willing sell a few points off his two tries for the right price. Anything to help the cause, right?
Just sayin'.
Colenzo Hubbard (Minor HS 73) Alabama DT. Played against him my junior year in HS. Beat me to a pulp.
I won't say I competed against him b/c I didn't see the court much. But I was on a basketball team that played against former AU player Mack McGadney.
On a side note, my wife and a friend once double dated with Jake Peavy. Peavy was with the other girl.
Jake Peavy was in my art class in high school and now I am fairly certain he makes more money in one night's sleep than i do in a year.
Ron ...
When Jake was in art class with you, was he good at painting the corners?
so you went to St. Pauls' Ron Mexico? i went to MGM.
Aundray Bruce...He knocked me unconscious on a fake field goal...Good times my friends, good times.
he was highly skilled in painting the corners almost as much as hitting on younger girls.
I didn't know you were from mobile, scottie. What year did you graduate?
J-Z ...
This explains ... a lot.
Jet, did you once host a radio show in the Fungomery area?
This comment has been removed by the author.
Just wanted to say War Eagle about Rocker coming on board...This was the hire I have been pushing for
Just a hunch, Jet. Tell me if I'm wrong...
to answer the best player you played against question...
Jamarcus Russell (even though i think he sucks) I hit him once and it looked like a midget running into an oak tree.
Played basketball against a guy name Bart May a few times growing up and he was a shooting machine.
Time for an early version "Things I learned today on HABOTN."
Mr. Jay G. Tate needs his own radio show. He used those two buffoons today like a Kleenex with some of his witty banter.
Scottie B. is the man!
Gene Chizik is putting together the most awesomest staff in college football.
I can count on Monica to have my Facebook back.
I'm up here at Auburn now for a bit.
Looks like I'll have some comments from Auburn's newest defensive line coach by 6 p.m. CST.
One minor issue: The Daughter has a soccer game in Montgomery before then and I'm her chauffeur. Not good.
Oh yeah...One more thing. I don't think any of us have delusions that we were ever "all that" when it came to high school athletics.
War Kicker on a Stick!
Best player I went against:
Former MLB starter Steve Sparks, circa 1989. I fouled one off. I didn't last long.
I watched Bill Goldberg play ... safely from the sideline.
I played baseball with a kid named Jay growing up. (Forgot his last name). He was terrific. Later found out that he ended up playing football at Stanford.
And I also bowled against some guy named Munson...had a great hook.
Listening to the scintillating Cecil Hurt on Finebaum, can we get Jay-G a regular bit on Finebaum. Who is the regular Auburn writer on Finebaum anyway?
Seems like Cecil is on every other day.
Best player I played against, I guess would be Mike Turk. He entually was a QB at Troy and is/was the HC at Huntingdon College in Mtgy. Quick, fast, really p'd me cause I could never catch him.
I've thought about getting on Finebaum before ...
Steve sparks the knuckleballer?
I dated a semi-pro baseball player, but I don't think that counts.
Please. At least you have a sense of humor and can change the inflection in your voice.
JGT--stay away from Finebaum. He's all about ratings and I don't want to hear him try and humiliate you for a bunch of numbers.
Steve Sparks the knuckle-baller, yep.
We're both Holland Hall grads, I'm proud to say.
TommyD...did you survive the day?
Difficult to humiliate me directly. I don't take myself too seriously?
Wanna rip my paper? I can deal.
Wanna rip my blog? I can deal.
Just don't rip me for failing "Green Grass And High Tides" on expert.
Best opponent ever faced ...
Tommie Agee, Maplesville High School, Auburn University, Dallas Cowboys.
I whiffed at him on the opening kickoff of the first game of my senior year ... intentionally. Well, maybe not intentionally, but I wasn't too disappointed. And he got a touchdown out of it. So, he scored, and I didn't end up in the hospital. A win-win, if you ask me.
Thanks for asking j-z, yes I did. It appears our group is so small that we can't be downsized further, but there are 500+ that won't make the end of the week. Although my boss has "the meeting" Wednesday. But I made it through Monday!!
Good news TD. Jet, I wish I had thought of your strategy. Apparently they didn't bother to teach that to the 3rd string TE/holder.
jettoro what high school did you go to
The French have a very eloquent word to describe people like Paul Fbomb. The word is turdburglar.
Jay you wrote, "I've thought about getting on Finebaum before ..."
Are you saying that you probably could if you wanted to?
I first met Tracy Rocker when i was about 13 yrs old. Auburn was playing FSU in the sugar bowl and my folks took me to see them play. My mom knew i was a huge TR fan and actually got him and pat sullivan to come and meet me, give me autographs, all that. TR gave me an auburn sugar bowl shirt they only gave the teams and pat sullivan gave me an autograph and some other stuff as well. From that point on i was a solid AU tiger. Glad to know that someone that takes that kind of time out is at AU making impressions on other young folks. CTR has my full support as DL coach. WAR DAMN ROCKER!!
STJ
Dallas County but he was before my time
I think I could, yes.
I played against this guy, Bill Brasky. He was 8'2", 375 lbs., could bench press a locomotive, and outrun a cheetah.
He was much a man ... as was his brother or cousin, Arthur Lee, who was a year ahead of him in school.
Tommie returned the kickoff and had like 195 on nine carries against us. I remember one play where almost all 11 of us were on him at one point or another.
It was like watch a dad shed his boys off him playing in the yard. Every yard or so, you'd see another body fly off.
They beat us something like 37-0 ... and he didn't play but one series in the second half.
