Auburn def. Arkansas, 75-62

WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Post No. 1,051

Welcome to Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, where your Auburn Tigers are playing basketball against students from the University of Arkansas.

  • FINAL
    Auburn 75, Arkansas 62

  • FOURTH TO @ 3:46, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 67-60. The Tigers are on an 8-0 run that may have sealed this bad boy. Arkansas' point guard, Courtney Fortson, fouled out with 4:23 remaining. He earned a technical foul while leaving the floor. Auburn hit three free throws (two for the technical, one for the foul) and now is in good position.

  • THIRD TO @ 7:36, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 57-54. Auburn went on a nice run there (15-2) and climbed back into this game. They did it in transition ... steal, run, score. This is going to be a close one. I've got the feeling.

  • FIRST TO @ 15:38, 2nd half
Arkansas leads, 47-38. This is a physical basketball game. The officials aren't calling anything questionable. Auburn has started the second half sloppily ... not finishing on the offensive end.

  • HALFTIME
Arkansas leads, 39-31. Auburn had the deficit down to two points with 2:40 to go. Then it all went awry. Arkansas scored on four of its final five possessions to close the half. The Tigers lost all defensive control.

  • FOURTH TO @ 3:57
Arkansas leads, 30-26. Auburn is playing better defense now. The problem is offense. Barrett seems off, but they're still feeding him the ball. Waller is totally off. Looks like it'll have to be Barrett, Hargrove and Barber ... for Barber's 5 field-goal attempts. He can't create.

  • THIRD TO @ 7:11
Arkansas leads, 25-19. That was an evenly played segment. Not much to discuss.

  • SECOND TO @ 11:17
Arkansas leads, 18-14. Auburn got its act together, started defending the perimeter and playing some offense. Looks like Barrett is off tonight. Someone else will have to score for the Tigers. Luke Hargrove had a nice alley-oop jame earlier from DeWayne Reed. It was gnarly.

  • FIRST TO @ 15:44
Arkansas leads, 11-5. The Tigers already are a mess at the free-throw line. They're 1-for-4. They're 2-of-7 from the floor. Arkansas is dead-set on letting its guards fire away from three-point range.

  • YOUR AUBURN STARTERS
PG -- DeWayne "Speed" Reed of Houston, Texas
SG -- Tez Robertson, on time
"SF" -- Tay "With The Tray" Waller of rural middle Georgia
"F" -- Rasheem Barrett of suburban Atlanta
F/C -- Korvotney Barber of rural middle Georgia

I was thinking the other day about ordering the Laramie DVD set. First show I remember watching. Robert Fuller and John Smith were great. One of the best western TV shows ever.

for any spur of the moment Hotties, you're not likely to ever find lower fares from Dulles, Raleigh, or JFK to Pisa, Italy, leaving Sat Feb 28 and returning Fri Mar 6. Pisa is only a quick 1.5 hr train ride to Florence. Just stumbled on those yesterday. Not as cheap from ATL, BHM, MGM or CWR. Didn't check any other departure points.

I would think it would behoove Doug and Josh to not mock "message board people" as they are very, VERY often the same people who listen to, call in to and support the advertisers of talk radio.

But that's just my unsolicited opinion.

Agree completely Monica.

Alright, just checking in here and I see the tv show discussion is still happening somewhat. So, here's mine (because I know you've all been waiting):
Lost
24
Fringe
Sports (except basketball, I don't really like it on tv)
Discovery Channel (yep, just about everything they put on I'll watch, a fine hd set or 3 will do that for you)
History Channel (Gangland because I want to become a thug one day)

The Missus and I will watch together:
The Office
30 Rock
Sometimes Scrubs and 2 1/2 Men
Seinfeld (time permitting)

The cub and I will watch together:
Mickey's Clubhouse
Sesame Street (it was better way back when)

That's it. Carry on.

Everything we watch is DVR'd. The only thing we watch live at our house is sports and that is because I am so O/C about having to know what is happening every second. I am seeking help for it though.

1:48 PM
Blogger Norm said...

There is a show (don't know the name) geared towards kids the cub's age or thereabouts that at points during the show devolves into a Spanish lesson. Once I discovered this, I banned the show from the viewing lineup of my youngin'. I don't want some stupid cartoon creature trying to teach my crumb dropper to speak Spanish. For that matter, if I have anything to do with it he won't learn it in school either if I have my say. He can learn Tagalog or something but not Spanish. I'm drawing a line.

1:50 PM
Blogger michael said...

I don't know how I lived before DVR. Actually, I do know. We taped Lost and 24 and other shows. I used the same tape over and over again. That thing was about to fall aprt.

Then DVR entered my life in 2006 and wow... my world changed.

1:52 PM
Blogger michael said...

What's wrong with Spanish? It's just a language. Are you scared your kids will cast voodoo spells and you will have no idea what they are saying? I guess there is that danger.

1:53 PM
Blogger Norm said...

Ditto on the DVR which in my mind is the greatest invention except perhaps for the HD TV. Really the only thing I watch live are sports (though I did have to DVR the AU/LSU '08 game) and news.

Michael, last I heard there was peace in the Middle East and abortion is just a stop on a NASA checklist. What's interesting or controversial about either of those two things?

1:59 PM
Blogger Norm said...

I'm taking a personal stance against Spanish. Venture outside of NoAL and spend some time in the greater ATL area. My next personal language stance is likely to be anti-Korean though I don't think I'll really have to worry too much on that one. If someone comes into my house, they'd better not be expecting to speak anything other than English with me. The same should apply to my country. I don't want a secondary language to be considered generally accepted.

Did you know learning a new language is one of the best ways to stimulate your brain, gatiger? Tis true, it will make you sharper in other areas, too.

But I guess if you really hate Spanish speaking people that much then you could learn Klingon. But don't come into my house speaking that crap. Klingons killed my family.

2:04 PM
Blogger Norm said...

Cheers was a great show. Though I have a bit of a gripe against that topic too. Like to hear it? Here it goes:
My actual name is Norm. To this day, I still encounter situations where some mental giant upon learning my name will call it out ala Norm Peterson. As if this individual is the first to have ever done that with me. Very original. Why go there? Why not engage me in a discussion on something important like; Middle East relations, abortion, or puppets?

2:07 PM
Blogger Norm said...

Oh don't get me wrong on the language issue; my boy will learn another language and he'll be brilliant. Mark it down. I just resent Spanish being crammed down my throat.

Oh yeah, and he'll be at least a **** coming out of high school.
