Aycock bound for Auburn?
MONDAY NIGHT
Post No. 1,026
Sounds like one of the Tigers' "secret" visitors may switch affiliations.
Tampa QB Dontae Aycock, whom Auburn wants at tailback, reportedly has lost his offer to Georgia Tech. He had been committed to the Yellow Jackets. They want/wanted him as a quarterback.

This recruiting updates are crazy. I'm ready for Wed.
I like 4 star athletes but what in the world are we going to do with all of these RBs??
dos...again
I was trying to find the blog on him...
Kathy, the link didn't work for me but I finally found it
That's an excellent question, BigCat!
why are all these school threatening these kids....don't they know they don't know what they want to do at 18?
Did these folks learn nothing from the BC controversy?
Sorry WEG. I was too lazy to link the url! Jay got it on the front page.
If my child was being recruited, I would advised him/her to take all of their allotted visits. It's a time they should enjoy.
jay are you trying to see how proficient we are at following more than one blog????
I am ready for this to be over. I'm starting to dislike recruiting season a lot
Here's an article on Farms:
Never a boring recruiting moment with Perry OL Johnnie Farms
Stay Classy Harrison.
Kathy - you are a wealth of info.
Aycock's coach's "support" isn't exactly supportive
THT we've had more than our fair share of un-supportive HS coaches this recruiting season.
Boy that's the truth BigCat.
HELP
Tim of "Private Practice"?
(crossword)
Now THAT is a kicker on a stick! I told y'all JZ's logo was killer.
Tar - Tim Daly
Thanks, Mon - I got it by filling in all the other words.
My computer screen is real hard to read while wearing my Chuck 3D glasses. I'll give y'all a break and take a break.
off to watch a new House......check back lata
Did someone mention the BC coaching situation? Because that is a complicated situation worth our attention in my opinion due to its many ramifications.
J-Z ...
Well done, son. I was afraid I was going to have to pull my offer.
What if BC had hired a puppet?
I just saw this video of Aycock. I see why he is a 4* athlete and recruited as a RB.
Aycock
Wonderful news. Thanks Ga Tech!
Wouldn't be the first puppet to coach. Bobby Bowden and JoePa were the first.
Aycock has a great pedigree. His brother, Dwight Smith, has spent 9 years in the NFL (7 if you don't count the last two when he was a Detroit Lion). Smith guided him through his recruitment - to a great conclusion.
Big Cat - What we are going to do with all these RBs is ... RUN LIKE HELL.
From the ajc.com
Perry offensive lineman Johnnie Farms had said he was going to wait until Wednesday to pick between North Carolina and Auburn.
On Monday, Farms changed his mind, saying that he was sticking by his commitment to North Carolina. He made an official visit to Auburn this past weekend.
“Auburn is not where I want to go,” he said.
The 6-foot-3, 285-pound senior said he will sign with UNC on Wednesday.
Michael - the BC coaching situation was the first thing that came to my mind as well. I applaud these folks for taking a hard stand, but when everyone else plays by different rules you're only hurting yourself.
Aycock's coach should take a page from Randle's coach and make some calls...that will keep the AU boogieman away.
From AU Undercover:
An assistant coach at Melrose High School in Memphis told AuburnUndercover.com on Monday morning he expects linebacker Greg King to sign with Tennessee on Wednesday.
Phred ... can we book Pink Floyd to play the song for us?
The Farms info explains the offer to Cann. Thanks, Keith.
I wonder if Jet is near finished stewing from earlier?
Let's get it loaded on the jumbotron.
Correct me if I'm wrong (unlikely) but I believe that the administration at BC is made up exclusively of puppets.
Awesome idea, Phred.
Best idea in ages.
Emory Blake on Tech Talk today. It's close to the beginning of this clip.
Emory Blake
The BC coaching situation = dispute over an employment contract among adults.
Aycock-GT = An unreasonable $aban-like, redneck ultimatum to a 17-year old kid.
Saw the Division Bell tour at Legion Field and GA Tech....closed with Run Like Hell both times.
Tennessee is looking at losing six once-committed recruits. Auburn is in on two of them, OKU and Phillips. Their recruiting boards are lamenting the loss of Trooper.
Runing backs...
I figure Demond Washington ends up at corner
Gulley will be a receiver/wingback type (the guy that runs the jet on the wildcat)
I see Jacobs as a LB
and McCalleb and Oku (god willing) are way too good to pass up
odd man out.... eric smith
I made some great bean and beef stew.
I've decided to take the day off on Wed.
LMAO Phred! Yea we're gonna have to 'RUN LIKE HELL' since we dont have any WRs or OL lol
Here's the link on Johnnie Farms that Keith was talking about:
Perry OL Johnnie Farms sticking with North Carolina over Auburn
Sponge here. Getting kind of crazy on the last days of cruitin. Just the fact that we may get some kids that UT,Ole Miss, Alabama etc wants is good enough for me. TT's initial class before his firing (eh.. resigning) we were kicking UT Martins and Lousianna Layfayett's butt for guys.
now that is kicker on a stick...sweet.
right?
Easy Sponge....don't get me started. xCTT had a higher player star average than we do even now. In fact, several of the original recruits have higher ratings now that their seasons are over than when initially recruited by xCTT.
As for RB's. We need some, cause we aint got none. Maybe Fannin, but he hasn't bowled me over yet..maybe due to his shoulder surgery/recovery. Who else do we have that can take it to the house? Nobody on the roster now. We better sign about four of em and see if a couple pan out.
Listen to Run Like Hell on Gameday Friday afternoons of high school football season my senior year.
Didn't help one bit ... but I love the song.
Can any of these RB's Punt??? That would help....Maybe we are just wishing Brian Eagan will walk on for punts & FG.
Jet - there was no help or hope for that team as I recall.
Hoop. Yes and no. Lets see how we end up at the end. I'll say this. Rarely does a 5'7" player that weighs 170 make it for long in the SEC. I'm ok w/ one or two for a change in pace. Just take a look across the state. Hate to say it, but Nicks cruits have size and speed. NFL bodies. People didn't rave at his LSU teams talking about "how talented" they were for nothing. Lastly, players that AU recruits do get some credibility from the services regarding stars. They figure if we want them, they must be pretty good. I say stars dont' mean diddly UNLESS, a lot of other SEC teams are after these kids. Just my opinion.
Rivals postseason rankings
It's time for this madness to end.
Since Utah averages around 40th each year in recruiting, I would say Stars don't automatically mean alot. Since only around 1/3 of recruits actually end up contributing to a team, it's as much about pedicting/managing attrition as it is assembling stars.
I trust watching the kids live in camps/workouts than watching stars and film or worrying about the rest of the SEC.
We need more OL and tall, fast WRs.
It will be interesting to see how Tyrik develops.
Hoopie - Even Tom Luginbill made a similar point on the radio today. That Most schools, even big BCS teams, still have to refine and teach most prospects. Some time under the right coaching, and those are the players that can build a base for the team.
I agree w/that too Hoop. I'm not so big into stars as I am in seeing who else is recruiting the kid. Size and speed. We need both. Especially at WR, for sure.
Is the dead period on now? Or can the REC still buy a kid a car on Tuesday?....
I put up a new thread on Gaines/Farms ... but you can keep talking here if you like.
I just throw 'em up as I see 'em.
Mon....I was considering Tyrick and his possible academic qualification issues. I remembered reading in the book "The Blindside" what Michael Oher's family (adopted Mother)did to get him NCAA cleared. If we need to go those extremes...let's do it.
I agree...With a few 2x4's and some stakes you can construct anything out of cement. However, without the right combination of ingredients ie, rebar, water mortar and TIME...the structure will crumble. Coaching is key. Coaching good talent is AUsome.
I have no problem with coaches pulling offers when committed players decide to visit other schools. It is a lesson in commitment.
I'm here to do my part. Put me in Coach Hoopie.
Wasn't Farms one of the recruits CTT had before the disaster we called a season?
We saw what poor coaching can do to a team for sure. SEE AU 2008
Slim - what in the Sam Hill is "water mortar?"
Sponge- The house has been cleared. A fire is obviously lit. hopefully it will rage out of control with or without a great wed. Let remember how long our new fearless leaders have had to do what they have done, with what they had to do it with.
Phred- its new..water mortar as opposed to dry
Sorry...Calculas on the brain and not making any sense. We started over. things seem to be looking up. Regardless of what happens Wednesday, our program is on the way up...
It is really hard to tell what direction Auburn will take, and it is only partially because of Auburn. The competition in the SEC West is going to be even tougher. The first goal has to be to be in the top two or three in the West. As of now, we are likely 4th or 5th depending upon how much improvement we see from Arkansas.
