The Daily Thread: Thursday
Hey everyone. I have three days remaining in my Gannett-mandated furlough.
See Sunday's entry for more details.
Please feel free to discuss issues as usual in the comment section. I hate this it has come to this, but it has. I blame greedy consumers. If we'd all narrow the chasm between what we want to afford and we actually can afford, our world would be happier
Fight the power!

D Miller..
I saw that house flipper from Charleston (Richard Davis) do it once on TLC.
Looked to be alot of scraping.
I wish we had a home court advantage like that.
Monica, it was for Lyme's disease.
I had to ask too.
My girlfriend has removed popcorn ceilings, Miller. Not difficult, just time consuming and tough on the arms.
we will in 2 years
Why Lyme disease?
I think that JGT sighting was a figment of your imagination.
Faker - I used to LOVE that show.
I think the guy who invented popcorn ceilings is only slightly above the guy who put the candy bars at the grocery store checkout lines.
Grocery store guy obviously never took his children to the store.
Mon- VU person has Lyme
Yes..I was addicted to it but you can't ever find it anymore.
I also thought the Flipping Out show was a trip too.
They were unconscious...we couldn't play worse....they won by 3. We may be the best team in the country.
MON ...
AU had Lyme in first half.
You know, I didn't know Lyme's was that contagious but Auburn obviously suffered from it the entire 1st half.
How's Jay GT gonna take it when he gets back from Guam and finds his "auto-posts" draw 400+ comments/day? In a week with no AU football.
Thanks Dr. Habotn and thank you for you very sweet comment earlier this afternoon. You're a pal.
Was Flipping Out the one with the c-r-a-z-y designer with big ole collagen lips?
tired of seeing and everyone talking about the brawl
Monica,
One of the Vandy players, a soph from here in Birmingham, was diagnosed with Lyme's early in the season, as was her sister. Trying to bring awareness about Lymes with the lime green shirts
Believe so Monica..
He had all these people working for him taking care of his house?
He was a loon.
Matt Bonner may be the most unathletic looking white guy who has ever played in the NBA...
Yep, that's him. He was a trip and a half!
Thanks for the details, Cincy. It all makes sense now.
I spent tonight with a room full of college students and I wish I had been armed. My goodness several of them were obnoxious.
College students, obnoxious?
We were never obnoxious in college.
Junior High maybe
shocking, right?
I told Greg, "I'm sure I was NEVER that obno..." and I couldn't finish it with a straight face.
Vanderbilt only has two conference games left: at Ole Miss and at Tennessee.
Auburn has Georgia and Arkansas ... both at home.
WSFA breaking news: Staying safe during inclement weather is a "priority."
Thanks!
mon, you're married... you shouldn't be out picking up college kids
shame shame!!
Go Vols!
The SEC tournament is in Little Rock. How does that arena play?
Ok. So there is no way I'm going to read through 415+ posts to see what's going on, but it is a dang good thing that Jay's on his Gannett (un)funded vacay so that he doesn't have to see this. It would have to be almost enough to make one run afoul of mgt to put a stop to it.
Did anyone actually mention Auburn in the last few hours?
Miller - the only thing worse than how obnoxious they were was how many of them called me "ma'am."
It was a rough night. :-)
WOW anyone seen the David Oku highlights on espn.com?
You look at them and just say "yes" once again. I'll dig it up one second.
jahg,
any news on when Oku is going to announce?
I think we've been discussing Auburn almost non-stop for the past hour, yes.
Lowcountry, I am insulted.
We were doing a play by play of the women's game until the very end.
bummer for the ladies. i got the watch the last 6 minutes. heckuva comeback. Smalley had a great 2nd half.
I've gotta head for bed, Hotties.
There are times when I love the Eastern Time Zone but they rarely come at night.
thanks jhag, this is impressive.
David Oku
I'm not very credible, but from everyting I have been reading it sounds like next week will be his time to announce, but you don't know what to expect from this kid.
Good work doctor it was going to take me years figuring out the hyperlink. Thanks.
Tennessee will play hard to avenge their loss at Vandy so there's still a chance for that regular season title.
And I don't think we'll have any problems with UGA or Ark at home. We'll have a big crowds those last 2 games.
OK, Hottiment Funkadelics, I'm outta here.
jhag- no prob, you don't need that link exercise after going full court tonight.
Good read here, the Chiz is one badass man born a badass...
Even though JAY G TATE makes PM look like a tiny little baby, in times like these we must lean on Phillip every once and a while.
CLEARWATER, Fla. - Gene Chizik’s story began on the obscure Pacific island of Okinawa, more than 16 years before he was born.
In May of 1945, after a weeklong battle that resulted in more than 7,000 allied casualties, 140 Marines went up the hill in the face of withering Japenese fire. Twelve returned. One of them was Gene Chizik Sr., who would be awarded a Bronze Star for his bravery that day.
It wasn’t long after that battle that the war was won, that the men who went to fight for their country returned home to go to work, to love their wives and raise their children. On Dec. 28, 1961, Gene Chizik Jr. was born to the Marine Corps hero and his wife, Rita. He was their fourth child and only son. Father and son were inseparable from the start.
ALso from PMarsh, and for PeterF's benefit:
Sophomore left-hander Grant Dayton will get the call on the mound for John Palowski’s first game as head coach Friday against Elon at Plainsman Park.
Ladies and Gents,
That ice cream didn't help much. I'm still starving, but I better go on to bed. Catch up with y'all in the morning.
WAR EAGLE!!!
We really should plan something special for when the Tate returns. Maybe we can hang a few balloons, streamers, and Bama fans around this place to give it a homie feel.
56 days left of escuela
Good Morning, Hotties and TGIF!!!

Luv, Charter has a unique outlook on running a business. They try to make you NOT buy their "service." That is the only logical conclusion I can come to. Hopefully, their bankruptcy will result in another cable company purchasing their assets and we will all be delivered from Charter Hell.
I hope you're right!!

This made me LOL. Not because it wasn't true, but because it was cute!

It's like a soap opera in here ...
If it were sweeps month, we'd get a Hoopie lecture.
This one also made me LOL!
Monica, I did NOT read the response that ensued...

Isn't it a BIG freakin' mess as well? You'd probably be vacuuming up that dust for years!
Yikes! I know it's early, but I'm beginning to resemble TarHeel and michael...
Jhag ...
TurboProp is right there with you, marking the time (along with WTC's daughter).
Tonight opens the mighty Trojans' (OK, probably not so mighty) soccer schedule, so it's all good from here.
Tough loss last night. I think they've still got a great shot at winning the regular season title. Pat Summit and Co. will do us a favor.
Well, good morning to you, Hotties. I apologize for my somewhat incendiary remarks last night - I guess I *should* have gone back through the 400+ posts. At least I would have caught up on the women's game!!
But I still submit that Jay would be flipping with now 450+ posts... you know... if he were here.
Yeah, I bet Jay is going to flip when he sees 400+ posts.
I'm also predicting another 9 a.m. thread. I bet Dear Leader is thinking the same thing.
I feel like Jay will be/is elated with the continuing participation in his abscence(sp?).
I also feel like a good HABOTN citizen. And TGIF to all, this week couldn't end quick enough.
Hi HOTTIES!
Luv- someone spiked your coffee. War Eagle!!!
I wish someone would spike my coffee.
i was thinking the same thing SeanZ.
i do have a nice dose of french vanilla, though.
Someone say coffee?
Luv, HABOTNing at 5:23am is pretty hardcore there gal. i can't drag my butt out of bed before 7:30.
COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Proof that nerds and rock and roll rarely mix well.
PROOF
I've got a ton of coffee, just nothing fun to put in it. At least it's something.
scottie, I have to be at work at 5 a.m. And, usually, I don't have a whole lot do until 7.
Dr. HABOTN, so much went on last night. I had to address some of it.
Last night's loss was disappointing, but they are still having one hell of a season!
i really thought the ladies were going to pull it out. they didn't get a good look on that 3 pointer with 3 seconds left. bummer.
be at work at 5am? that's just craziness.
but I get to leave at 1:30!
Luv - I like it when you're "posty". I'm going to prescribe some caffeine tablets.
scottie - I was really hopin' too. They acted like they had .3 sec instead of 3 sec.
9:34 and all is well. Good morning, Hotties
Mon, every time i see your new avatar i think 'The Devil Wears Prada'. dang girly movies!
Dr. HABOTN, I needed those tablets last night. I had to get my hair did yesterday afternoon, so I didn't get my nap in. Hence, I fell asleep right after the game started!
scottie, they're the best kind!
I've worked at 4 different locations this week and today makes the 4th technological failure of the 4 different systems I've used. Thankfully, the HABOTN enabled computers have not been affected, else I might have gone postal instead of posty.
Speaking of technical failures...our PHONE system is screwed up right now. How do land line phones NOT work??
That's my 9:45 A.M. Friday rant.
Dr. HABOTN, besides taking care of all the Hotties medical needs, what else do you do?
Luv- as little as humanly possible.
well, me too, esp. when there are students here...but, seriously, what do you do?
That was a good girlie movie, Scottie.
speaking of girly movies, i took the wife to see 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' for Vday. it was actually pretty funny.
i made up for it this week by watching 24, Nip/Tuck, & Damages!
I want to see Nights in Rodanthe. It's on VOD now. Has anyone seen it?
FX watching is good for curing chick flick-itis.
Haven't seen it, Luv.
...but those aren't Prada. They're not even Louboutin (which they're trying to be with the red soles).
Scottie B, I did the chick flick for Valentine's day, too. We saw "He's just not that into you". It was a terrible experience. I HABOTNed from my phone most of the time.
Peter, "You speak Prada?"
haha.
lol good movie reference, Scottie
The soles are pink, not red. (Mr. "I'm not pretentious")
no, I don't speak Prada. I speak knockoff.
new thread up, btw.
LOL you're a funny little boy, Peter
Luv - I'm JGT's dad
wait, what?
Is that a full time job, doctor?
This thread can't die this close to
500
Wholesale petrol down to $1.03/gal today ... and dropping.
michael,
oh yes, plus overtime
the thread that will not die!
ok, Dr Habotn, Medical Examiner, declares this post officially comatose.
