Practice chatter, 4/9

Hey everyone. We have a few interesting topics coming out of practice today.

  • Harry Adams is now a wideout. If you recall, he's one of the team's fastest players and could be a game-changing element. That's what Ben Tate thinks, anyway.

  • TB Eric Smith injured his right knee during Tuesday's practice. He was wearing a fairly invasive brace over the knee Thursday. The report I received is that the injury was only a "bone bruise or something like that." Then again, the injury was a non-contact situation. How can you bruise a bone without contact?

Gene Chizik and the coaching staff don't comment on injuries. So we'll just have to speculate.

  • DT Mike Blanc (aka The Happy Haitian) was asked to name the team's strongest players today. We received some surprising answers. He said DT Zach Clayton squats "in the 500s" and walk-on OL Rudy Odom is the 225-pound bench press master.

  • Assistant coach Tommy Thigpen discussed his projected rotations at safety today. Zaccheus "Zac" Etheridge and Mike McNeil are the top guys, obviously. Christian Thompson and Mike Slade are the next two. Thompson has received a lot of praise from Thigpen this spring, so he's a guy you should be monitoring. The fifth guy, in case you're wondering, is Drew Cole.

    What's flea market montgomery????

  14. The guy from the Montgomery Flea Market is actually quite annoying in real life. His Flea Market is really creepy too. The workers in some of the stalls were hollering at my friends. I'm pretty too!

  15. Would it be an invasive knee brace? Or should it be described better as a restrictive and cumbersome knee brace. Invasive to me sounds like something the Borg would do. Just sayin'

I am becoming addicted to your fly videos and thus, I am addicted to you in a strange but beautiful man love kind of thing. Only Michael touches my heart more.

Now, on to serious business. I do not believe that a quarterback will be named as the starter. They may have a depth chart, but that will only be known to a select few and any leak of that information will cause instant banishment to Thule, Greenland. As far as injuries go, I suspect there will be a lot of 'bone bruises' or other similiar innocuous answers that are both vague and misleading. They may even use archaic words and treatment terms like 'liniment oil" 'leaders and the pullers" to describe tendons and ligaments. They may even talk about players having bad vapors or the flux.

  16. I feel like I've really missed out on something special by not being familiar with this Montgomery Flea Market!

    ^^^^^^^^^That made me snort.

An invasive knee brace sounds like it penetrates his skin.

  21. OK, on my way to Youtube it.

  22. why would they ever think that parks and rec would work? the thing that makes the office so good are #1 the characters that they have developed over a long time and #2 the style is a little different, the mockumentary is not your standard sitcom. Parks and Rec was just too much a wanna be to me.

  43. Glad to see Harry back on the O side. We've got enough DBs that we can keep WRs in their natural position.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love a guy named Harry Adams who plays Wideout...just sayin'

  45. Seastrunk said, "My mom has a wonderful relationship with Coach Luper and I really like that about Auburn."

I'm surprised that Spongeworthy hasn't dropped by to let us know about the latest NCAA letter to Bama rumor.

This stuff has gone on so long it is going to embarrassing for a lot of AU fans if not true.

What I don't get is that if it is true, why not just wait and let it happen instead of fueling rumor mills.

    ReplyDelete
  53. What is the rumor? They are just waiting to hear what the decision of the committee.

    ReplyDelete
  54. JD - did you hear him say the p word?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Harry Adams back at WR is a good thing. I remember reading about some of the track competitions between he and PPL aka Frenchy in high school. Adams is a burner!!

Montgomery Flea Market... one of the few simple pleasures that I miss about the Gump LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm going to be four or five minutes late. I decided to get cute with the music and that delayed me a tad.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Couldn't resist the Loveboat could ya?

  58. I saw on Auburn Undercover where Seastrunk, a high profile runningback from Texas, is apparently very interested in Auburn. It says he would be the most high profile runningback recruit since Caddy. I thought that was interesting.

The move of Harry Adams shouldn't be too much of a surprise. We have a lot of depth in the defensive secondary. At first I wondered because we have a lot of receiving talent, but since we will be in a spread formation it makes since. We will need a lot of them.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Oposer yes Ryan Williams is gone. He enrolled at a JUCO.

Mon, This is just something I read on Scout's free board. Supposedly Bama is getting a letter from the NCAA tommorrow outlining 144 violations.

I haven't lived in Alabama since graduation in 1980 and haven't kept up with anyone close to Bama in years, so I have no idea if it is true. According to the comments pertaining to the original post, these "letter" rumors have surfaced previously.

Is it fire or a smoke machine causing this reoccurence.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Ryan Williams was banished months ago. Yes, he's off the team.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Steve Lache (pronounced Lake) Seastrunk is the truth!! Watch his video.

We dont have many WRs that will be as fast as Adams.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm having a minor view issue. Sorry about that. I'll update.

  66. Cecil Hurt said that as bama didn't satisfy the NCAA committee via a disposition summary they had to go to San Diego (I think) to appear before that committee. He said that odds were more than good that they would be put on probation. He also said what that probation would mean was anyone's guess.

Their appearance was Feb 20th and that the decision would be release in 6-10 weeks.

  67. Speed is a good thing at wide receiver, but not necessarily necessary. I prefer a receiver that can catch a football. At times we seem to have had receivers with a football allergy.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think you should make a voice recording of that and post it for us, Hoopie!
