Even though I love Tiger, all the announcers do have a man-crush on him and it gets annoying.

10:09 AM
Blogger Jet said...

I will say this about Tiger.

MOST AMAZING COMPETITOR EVER.

Better than Jordan because he does it all himself, and doesn't gain any "Tiger Rules" on the course. Doesn't benefit from a Pippen or Rodman or a Kerr, or whoever.

On the flip side, today's media are so ridiculously over the top about everything that it actually diminished what we've seen out of him.

So dean green gave students the option of skipping class without penalty if they were celebrating good Friday today. Safe to say that a lot of people decided to do that. This class is empty.

I am embarrassed to say this, but having lived in the Gump for those 15 or so years, I don't recall ever having eaten at Hamburger King, which I'm certain I would have remembered, and I do now apologize. I did however frequent Corsino's so I have that going for me.

10:27 AM

Milhous, it's way too early for tv time slots. All games are 1:30 until a network picks 'em up. I'm hopin' for an ESPN night game!

10:28 AM
Blogger digger4au said...

What's wrong with being on national TV on a friday when you will be the only teams to watch. Sounds good to me.

10:29 AM
Blogger Harrison said...

that is such BS. It's the friday after Thanksgiving and it's hard for me to get off work. I am pissed

10:30 AM
Blogger Seanzie said...

It's tough to make that trip day after Thanksgiving. Usually means you are traveling on Thursday. The Iron Bowl scheduling just keeps getting worse.

10:30 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I still think it's way too early for tv committments.

10:31 AM
Blogger mytommyd said...

I was just thinking, if Auburn has a good season and is a factor in the SEC race, and Bama has a season that they hope for, it will certainly be moved to a primetime slot... right?

10:31 AM
Blogger Milhous said...

Goldberg has CBS picking up the game and televising at 1:30

10:32 AM
Blogger digger4au said...

Luv you may be right. The way the TV schedule is made up it is doubtful that it would be locked in this early.

10:32 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

For the most part kickoff times and networks aren't even decided until 10-14 days before the game.

10:34 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

What the heck does Goldberg know anyway?

10:36 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

TV games don't usually start at 1:30pm. That is the typical time for radio games. My guess is it will be moved to a different time.

I think it is pretty cool playing it on the day after Thanksgiving. There will not likely be any conflicting games of consequence and a lot of people are off work that day.

10:36 AM
Blogger Seanzie said...

Why are folks posting the competition on Jay's blog?

10:36 AM
Blogger Harrison said...

it is not cool

10:36 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

By the way, Goldberg does say it is national television, which is good for the game.

10:38 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

If it's the Friday after Thanksgiving, then that time is probably correct. I believe that's been the kickoff time for the LSU/Arkansas game that had been the CBS Friday game.

10:38 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Steve, that's what I said. All games are at 1:30 until a network picks 'em up.

10:38 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

Except for 1993, I don't recall when the Iron Bowl wasn't a nationally televised game. It's always been CBS, ESPN or ABC for as long as I can remember.

It's never been a regional broadcast.

10:39 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

Seanzie, Jay should speak up if he is offended by news coming in from other sources, but I think it is good for HABOTN. You can pretty much find out anything you want to know by coming here.

10:39 AM
Blogger Jet said...

It's happening kids ... when CBS pre-selects a game for a special time, they set the kickoff ... we'll have the slot that Arkansas-LSU has had.

Can't say I'm jumping up and down about it ... I have my side of the family Thanksgiving hooha at the lake on Friday.

Goldberg is credible, so I will defend him.

10:40 AM
Blogger Harrison said...

1:30 May be right because of the holiday and they have back to back games that day on CBS

10:40 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

Since Raycom/Jefferson Pilot/Lincoln Financial isn't broadcasting the early game anymore, which ESPN network is picking it up, ESPN, ESPN 2 or ESPNU?

Good Friday Hotties. FYI There is an excellent Video of Coach Taylor talking about his coaching philosophy on AL.com! It is indeed must see tv err video! If you didn't love this guy before prepare to be wooed!

Trooper Taylor

All I could think about while listening to him was "Has AU ever had a WR coach before?" Watch the one handed catch drills he has the WRs doing over their shoulder! I love this man!

Gatiger and WTC thanks for the 5k advice! I'm going to run in a Unity Race in Opelika. My co-workers have almost talked me into a 1/2 marathon in Birmingham next year. We'll just have to see how this 5k goes first.

10:53 AM
Blogger mytommyd said...

With ya Jet!!

BTW I think while I was at Auburn we had the Friday game against Bama, because we had about 5-7 drummers come down with me to do Turkey day at the house since going back to Delaware and Texas wasn't really feasible. Then again it's possible I just slept through Friday.

10:55 AM

Dropping balls give me a headach, so I think they should get a headach too, thats what that drill is all about.
Walk across that line and yyou better be ready to go because I am going to coach you and coach you hard.

Jet I love Tiger but I would disagree with you on him being better than Jordan. It's one thing to only have to deal with your own short comings, but it's another thing to help others reach their potential in the process.

11:01 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

I like the drill Troops is referring to. He isn't hitting them nearly as hard as a DB would.

11:01 AM
Blogger j-z said...

That Trooper Taylor video made me moist. I'd have his baby. Just sayin...

But...did he say that the basketball court at UT is named after Pat Tillman? Cause I think he did.

11:02 AM
Blogger FSJ said...

SIAP..

Supposedly the Iron Bowl will be the Friday after Thanksgiving for the next two years on CBS..

11:03 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

I like the idea of having a couple of speed burners at wideout. One of the things Graham mandated for Malzahn to do at Tulsa was to throw the ball deep, I think it was 10 times a game. Speedy wideouts can stretch the field if they can catch.

11:05 AM
Blogger chip chip said...

slow WRs that can't catch can leave...

11:06 AM
Blogger digger4au said...

Also, on Troop
How do you catch the ball? everyone said with your hands.
troop said close your eyes and catch this. oops. you use your eyes and the last 6 inches are the most important. So we teach them how to watch the ball the last 6 inches.

Now that makes sense.

11:09 AM
Blogger mytommyd said...

Wow, I think I'm ready to suit up and go play for Auburn after watching Coach Taylor!! I can't imagine how geeked up those young men will be . And from the looks of it, he will have "his" group out there ready and prepared to play SEC level football. Hotties I believe we finally have ourselves a real live wide receivers coach

11:09 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

Fast or slow, give me receivers that can catch. Speed isn't necessary, but it is nice. Lawyer Tillman wasn't a speed merchant. Neither was Courtney Taylor. But they were a couple of the best receivers we have had.

11:10 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

In some ways, what makes for a good reciever is just like what makes for a great QB. It is the mental aspect that is most important. It takes a man to hold onto the ball when he knows he we get hit. The great ones maintain concentration on the ball rather than focusing on the hit.

11:17 AM
Blogger AUBigCat said...

I'm with you Steve but I would also like WRs that can create seperation by either great route running or speed. I dont think it will matter how good they catch if the DB is on them like stank on poop.

11:20 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

That is where height also comes in, but think about it. One on one with perfect coverage and the perfect pass, the receiver always wins if he can catch.

11:23 AM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

1. Luv- I agree, Krystal is about as gross as it gets.
2. Iron Bowl on Friday? That really sucks a big green one. It will be the first IB in Auburn without me :-(. I'm sure the rest of the family will be there. Why didn't the bozos announce this in January when I could have scheduled appropriately?

Steve I just dont know how many "perfect passes" we will get this year LOL. Maybe when Tyrik is running things that will change.

11:29 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

Jay, there was discussion earlier about what is appropriate to post here in terms of information from other news sources. You may want to re-iterate your stance. It is my understanding that we should always credit sources, but posting info from other sources is fine.

11:31 AM

Krystal = White Caslte

Something you may not be aware of is Hardees = Carl's Jr. It is the west coast Hardees.
