Days to Kickoff: 22
Our Tar Heel Tiger's Auburn Minute* is brought to you by the number:
22
*=FOR THE ANONYMOUS EMAILER WHO GOES BY "MIKE PRICELESS": The following post was written by Tar Heel Tiger, who is an esteemed member of our community. I, Jay G. Tate, did not write the following passage. If the previous two sentences don't sufficiently convey the fact that Tar Heel Tiger wrote this piece, please contact me again. Perhaps I can call you on the phone and read to you. Polysyllabic words can be tricky in print.
HAPPY BRENT FULLWOOD DAY!!!
I must admit, I feel a little uneasy honoring Brent Fullwood. Despite his many accomplishments on the gridiron, his highly publicized decision to play hooky from class his senior season (not a violation of NCAA rules at the time) still bothers me. Mr. Fullwood, come back to Auburn and get that degree!
Brent Fullwood was fast, almost Bo fast. The native of Kissimmee, Fla., ranks 6th in career rushing yards at Auburn. He was a consensus All-American and All-SEC player his senior season, leading the country by averaging 8.3 yards per carry. He placed 6th in Heisman balloting that year and was the 4th overall selection in the NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers. He made the 1989 NFL Pro Bowl Team as a fullback.
HONORABLE MENTION:
*Mitzi Jackson: A personal favorite and a native of DeFuniak Springs, FL. A great runner whose AU career was limited by injuries. I think he was #22, but not absolutely certain....it's been a long time!
*Tre Smith : 2002 Iron Bowl, nuf said.
*Casinious Moore: Anniston RB lettered in 2000 and 2001. (Jay G. says: Phil Snow, former WSFA-Channel 12 sports director, initially called him "cuh-NEESH-us-ness" on the air.
*Danny Arnold: DB from the '70s; his two interceptions led the team in 1976.
*Gabe Gross: in the rotating quarterback position at Auburn in 1998, then decided to concentrate on baseball. It must have been the right choice. He's still in the Big Leagues.

Happy Danny Arnold Day!
Rollison Express is alive and well, just wait till he is named the #2 QB. As for Caudle, where does he go from here?
I think Caudle will stay at Auburn and play out the string.
Todd decision makes it easier to move Rollison into the starting role about halfway through the season.
Jay G, I heard that the team was still divided about Todd again this year and that Kodi has eased the tensions some with his standup talk yesterday, but that players are still not happy about it at the moment. Are you getting the same vibe?
Eddie...since Kodi is out of the QB pic and Todd is the starter, I am on board for Tyrick to be the #2 QB and for them to give him reps anytime that won't endanger a win, put repeated undue stress on the defense or if we're about to get "36-0'd". Is that a verb or noun? haha
HAPPY BRENT FULLWOOD DAY!!!
This is a glorious day in Auburn football because our 2009 team just faced their 1st big challenge of the season and a true leader has emerged even in defeat.
On a side note Victory Beasley Jr picked Clemson over bama. I guess either way we would have faced him on the field in a few years.
Eddie, we found out about this at 9 p.m. last night.
I have not talked with a single player since then. I have no idea.
Jay G- Thanks for all the coverage and the late night video's and everything else.
Hoopie- I think 36-0'ed in bama terms is a vernun. English is not their strong suit.
ahh, 22 good number.
I can remember as a kid in the neighborhood dividing up and playing auburn fans vs bama. Me and my friends always wanted to be Fullwood.
Gabe Gross, my hometown Dothan boy. I went to school and his older brother Bo, who somehow got a scholarship to TCU under Coach Sullivan. Their dad played with Pat at Auburn, talk about a favor.
Anyway, Caudle, I say he stays. I have heard and seen him say how much he loves it there. Plus he is in the building science program. Not too many of those out there and he wants to work in that field after school. So hopefully not.
First (to post since this thread was moved to the top)!
Michael is going to get sick with the Roller-Coaster ride.
Lee Gross lettered in '72-'74 under legendary coach Shug Jordan...
which might explain Gabriel Gross's middle name, Jordan
I believe Tiger Rags just lost my business for a little while. I just don't get this shirt and I find it a terrible idea.
Cow College T-Shirt
so I haven't read Auburn football stuff lately. Anything happen?
I agree Eddie. I guess that Ag department might be into it?
Harrison, it turns out SteveFC has been right all along about EVERYTHING! The Earth is about to implode on itself, I think.
Steve is the Miss Cleo of the HABOTN
Hopefully Steve is wrong about our 3-4 year journey back to being a contender.
cuall me now for you free spir-i-tual readin'....lordavemercy.
I can't believe they did a lot of research on if that shirt was a good idea or not.
Horrible shirt.
It's a shirt that says "when people put us down, we just accept it as our lot in life."
Steve had defended every side of every issue, so at some point he is always right. Pure genius :)!!!!!!!!
RK- They sent out a letter to talk about the origin of the shirt and how Auburn People should embrace it. They lost me and my business for the season. I have put them on indefinite suspension only to be lifted by good deals on Under Armour products :)!
I used to love getting the game shirt at Tiger Rags before the game, but it always seemed if I wore the shirt more than a handful of times it would start to fade really quickly.
I do remember the madhouse that was Tiger Rags on a gameday, you can't move.
Eddie, you'll have to send me your digits so we can meet up on Sunday. i'm one of those crazy people who will be lining up 2 hours before the gates open. not sure if we're hitting the O or the D first. we'll probably split up the family so we can get everybody.
RK- My fondest memories was heading to Tiger Rags right after the game after a really big win to get a score to wear the next day or to school on Monday.
You are right, the shirts fade badly.
Second-best running back in Auburn history, and it's not even close.
And I played HS ball against him.
Eddie,
I only remember getting the score shirt a couple of times. I got the 30-20 "I Was There At Jordan Hare" shirt following the 89 Iron Bowl and the one following the 01 Florida game.
I don't remember if I picked up any others or not.
J.Kev,
You played HS ball vs Lectron Williams, the 2nd best RB in Auburn history?
Of course, he's second to only the immortal Cencade Pennington.
I had the 93 Florida & bama score shirts along with 95 bama. I remember heading to Toomer's corner after those games and then immediately to Tiger Rags where the line was long.
I'm lonely and about to get banhammered. Join me on the new thread
Eddie, we probably stood in line together after the '95 IB at Tiger Rags. we waited for hours. i had/have the l/s tee that says APPEAL THIS on it. my grandpa thought i was nuts but i couldn't go back to high school that monday morning without that t-shirt!!!!
