«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 400 of 430 Newer› Newest»
i would love multiple tv's. don't have enough room for that, though. right now i have 71 framed prints/photos on the wall. i need to take more pics and post. you can see a little on my blog (i don't update it much, though).
Eddie, when they sold off the old lockers during the renovation a couple years ago i snagged one. it looks pimp in the corner.
we just have a cave.
Hopefully we'll have replace the 2 dead tvs with a functioning one in about 2 weeks.
Screw multiple TV screens. I am after multiple computer monitors. I have 2 22" HD screens now. I am looking to get it to four.
A man cave is my dream. I have the full unfinished basement just waiting on the disposable income.
THT, you've only got 29 days left to have that new tv in your crib.
Argh, I may have to sell some stock and grab an HDTV soon.
Wow, I go to lunch and there are around 100 posts in an hour.
For the record I have Florida vs LSU in the SEC title game.
it'll change your life Steve. but if you're already used to HD monitors it may not be that big of a transition.
Peter..I have a private balcony off mine too that needs to be cleaned in a bad way.
Kentucky v Arkansas in the Championship game -- mark it!!!
I do have a 32" HDTV, but it weighs around 400# and if it was any older it would have been gas powered. Has great sound though.
Ole Miss will finish 3rd, 4th or 5th in the SEC West.
Steve...
I would love a couple of 30 inch monitors but I'd probably get my rear end whipped if I did that.
Hmmm, just heard a theory on MSNBC that the economy is doing better because Obama is losing power. Not really surprising because Wall Street went into suck mode when they found out Obama or McCain would be the new president.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled Auburn blog.
I thought about going with something like 30" monitors, but 22" with 1920x1080 works well for me and leaves room for more monitors.
FSJ - no privileges for heading up the company?!?
ScottieB - my tv is supposed to hit the shelves on 8/16. The first one that arrives will be delivered to my house.
NICE!!!!!
Aubie - that is a great list. A few of them are actually correct, including one of the Sullivans ;-)
has anyone else noticed that we are using a different football this season? we've changed from the Spalding Advance to the Wilson ball.
not that it matters. i'm just a sporting goods guy. :)
Off topic for a second...I just wanted to praise the combination of peanut butter and chocolate.
Pure genius.
Monica -re: your 11:51 post, refer to my 11:30 post
WERK - no one appreciates the inventiono of PB&Choc ice cream as much as MrsTHT.
(MissTHT was born 3 weeks early about 12 hours after MrsTHT ate nearly a pint of B&R PB&Choc ice cream)
I really didn't want to mention the Pat Sullivan being 7 thang, but while we are at it, there are 3 numbers that are retired at Auburn: 7-Sullivan, 88-Beasley, 34-some dude named Jackson. In my opinion 74 should also be retired because of probably the best linemen to every play at Auburn, Rocker.
RK...
I'm not a huge choc fan, but throw in some PB and pure genius is a spot on description. If jet were here we would doubtless get an Officer Reece mention.
Ok..here are some pics...keep in mind I still have work to do to get it the way I want it.
Pic 1
Pic 2
Pic 3
Pic 4
i wouldn't complain a bit if they honored Rocker that way SFC.
Fan - There is some confusion as to the origin of the word fan. Paul Dickson, in his Dickson Baseball Dictionary, cites William Henry Nugent's work that traces it to fancy, a 19th century term from England that referred mainly to followers of boxing. It was originally shortened to fance then just to the homonym fans. The word emerged as an Americanism around 1889. Many assume that it's a shortened version of the word fanatic, and the word did first become popular in reference to an enthusiastic follower of a baseball team. (Fanatic itself, introduced into English around 1525, means "insane person". It comes from the Modern Latin fanaticus, meaning "insanely but divinely inspired". The word originally pertained to a temple or sacred place [Latin fanum, poetic English fane]. The modern sense of "extremely zealous" dates from around 1647; the use of fanatic as a noun dates from 1650.) However, the term "fancy" for an intense liking of something, while being of a different etymology, coincidentally carries somewhat the same connotation as "fanatic".
This is my favorite music video. Plus the song get's me stoked!
Someone was telling me about an LED enhanced Plasma the other day that reduces some of the glare problems that Plasma have. Anyone got any info on this? The only LED aided I can find online is still LCD (which touts better viewing angles).
OKay, off on weird subject. I just got a call from my dog's animal clinic. They were reminding me of his appointment monday. They asked that I also bring a fecal sample so they can test it. Has anyone ever had a vet ask for that?
My response? I will bring a fecal sample. It will be in the dog.
FSJ, i will say there is one section of your cave that i really, really like. ;)
SFC, if you really said that to the vet, that's hilarious.
Steve...
Give him a human sample and see if he figures it out.
Steve,
The vet has asked us for that and to also given us some absorbing pebbles to get a unrine sample from our cat.
I didn't figure that was my responsibility since I'm paying the vet bill.
LMAO..
I dare my vet to ask for one of those.
SFC,
My vet (a great Auburn guy!) always asks for that. Since I am a responsible pet owner and always pick up the poo, I just bring that morning's bag along.
Steve - You can do that and they will use a probe. The dog will love you more after I am sure of it. They are checking for heartworms, up north it is a stool sample.
ehyou - that is funny, I tell you what.
RK- we've had to do that before it sucks
Wow, this thread was going so strong until pet poop entered the discussion. I'll add that to the list:
Way to kill a thread #217: Talk about pet poop.
Sorry if this was discussed last night....
On PTI (I listen to the podcast), Wilbon just gave the Auburn-Alabama rivalry a shout out as the best college rivalry. No other rivalries were mentioned.
Are posts numbered somewhere or are y'all just keeping count from what's posted at the top and bottom of the page??? I know it's a stupid question but for some strange reason I would really like to know.........
Wait until you stud the dog out and the vet says he can show you how to get the sample yourself so you don't need to come in the clinic each time.
Yea, I said that to the vet, or at least his assistant. It is a good point that if I bring a sample, they won't have to go get it. That would mean I wouldn't get to see the surprised look on my dogs face. Hmmm, is that a good or bad thing?
Nice FSJ. Little too much crimpson for my taste, but I certainly wouldn't decline coming over for a drink ... or 2
if you use night vision goggles you can see the number of each post by the avatar
The numbers at the top and bottom show the post numbers.
yes, I'm kidding.
or maybe not. Where's our helicopter pilot?
THT - I just busted out laughing....and then thought missinit is missing it.
251
hotties are alive and well today
You also have to be kind of quick to get the number just right on days like these where EVERYONE is coming to play
miguel - how is the herd today?
speaking of pet poop...I smell a large work dump about to arrive :-(
HABOTN playtime may be over for me
How will Jay G handle two-a-days? Has he been working out to get through it. With the late practices, the guy has to have an unreal work schedule these days.
The herd is good. I have not had to buy feed all summer, as I re-routed a nearby creek to irrigate the fields they live in. Probably illegal, but it saved me a ton of money. Unfortunately, this “creek” was actually the waste product coming out of a nearby chemical plant. The herd glows now, which is cool. They have also grown opposable thumbs and started their own light jazz ensemble. I think I caught some fashioning some sort of weapons also.
So anyway, yeah, the herd is good.
THT.....you owe me!!! I just spewed diet Coke all over my clothes. (I will sending you the dry cleaning bill.)
Now if I can just find my night goggles!
I like it babeeey 260 comments before 1
or 2pm EST
Which means I am 1 hour closer to happy hour.
There is no time right now to step away from HABOTN today. This place is rolling like a campfire where Tubs was getting lynched.
thank you Michael

Can you market "Glow Goats" like Glow Worms?
I am coming much closer to thinking Auburn will win the SEC west today. Give me a couple of more weeks and I will have us winning the national championship.
Hi praise for Nosa and Dee has me feeling much better about the DE spot.
The DL should be solid. I like that group.
Someone find me a couple of more linebackers and we are going to be very good.
I like it Steve....i can pretty much talk myself into that too anytime i have had somthing to drink and start watching old highlight clips on youtube.
I was just gonna ask if Steve is drinking Firefly Vodka yet?
I just read an article from the most reliable information source on the web, namely the bleacher report, that says we were not disciplined on offense or defense last season. That is a unique view.
Gotta work on my trash talk for the coming season. So far I will go with "my defensive line coach can kick your defensive line coach's butt".
i would maybe agree with that about the offense, but i think the defense just broke. you can't have your defense on the field for 45 min a game and expect them to be too productive. i thought they did well considering....except the second half of the wva game. and the iron bowl.
Last years defense was one of the better ones we have had and I would be happy with a defense like that any season.
As for the offense, discipline isn't a word that would immediately come to mind to describe it.
That sofa is dark pink.
Just sayin'
:-)
Mono is the devil
Inspired by yesterday's "Schoolhouse Rock" discussion:
The score was tied at zero all, uh huh.
When Brodie found he had the ba-all.
AU made a connection with his mid-section
And the crowd started shouting out interjections -
"AW"! That must have hurt!
"DARN"! You're not kidding!
HOORAY"! I'll bet that happens 10 more times.
THT re: the Beaslely post - that's way too time consuming for my ADD brain!
For me to have that much booze in my house, I would have to buy it all at one time. It tends to disappear quickly.
If you like School House Rock, here's another that should revive fond memories.
I LOVE Schoolhouse Rock, but I've never seen the Contact bit.
Oh well, 3-2-1 Contact was a show on PBS when I was a kid. Loved it.
I didn't watch a lot of "3-2-1 Contact", as I was in high school, then at AU when it ran. I will, however, confess to watching some "Sesame Street" while at AU. When you don't have cable, it beats the hell out of soap operas while eating lunch, plus Grover and Ernie & Bert were (and still are) hilarious.
I will admit to flipping through the channels a couple of weekends ago and watching some Sesame Street on a Saturday morning.
My AU tv set-up freshman year -
13" b&w, no cable, no remote, took 24 seconds from the time you turned it on to get warmed up enough to have a picture.
I can't believe my roommates and I actually watched major sporting events on that thing.
If someone throws out "The Great Space Coaster." Oh wait, I think I just did.
No gnews is good gnews with Gary Gnu.
my set-up wasn't much better Scott-Choc. fortunately we were at all the AU events so it wasn't that bad.
Hey, hey, hey, let's stick to sports, like "Battle of the Network Stars." (Unintentional "Fat Albert" reference at start of sentence, btw).
C'mon ah zoom zoom zommah zoom
scottie b - true, all the really important sporting events (other than AU away games) were happening right there in our backyard.
oh that's why, Ehyou! I was in high school in 1983!
I still stare with awe at the wonder that is online one click pizza ordering.
We're gonna teach you to fly - high!
OMG I totally forgot about Battle of the Network Stars! Was that some of the first "reality TV"? Gosh, I'm oldl.
HEY YOU GUYS!!
Your going to make me get frazzled...which sounds like fraggle aka Fraggle Rock
The battle of the network stars. Man, that was quality television.
Robert Conrad from "Baa Baa Black Sheep" was always the bad-*$$ on "Battle of the Network Stars".
I do love knowing the name of the guy that is delivering my pizza too. Helps to freak him out a bit.
I luv my man cave/dog house
I like Lynda Carter
Back in the day I had 5 tvs in a 1BR apt. And a projector. Yeah I had a tv in the bathroom.
We used to hook up the projector on game days, and watch the games outdoor on 15' projection screen. That way my guests would grill, drink, swim, smoke, puke, etc while watching the game, and without ruining my apartment.
(night games only).
Within the last hour Auburn has jumped from 5th in the west to 4th in the west, unseating Arkansas. We are now closing in on number 3 Alabama.
I always loved watching the Superstars. Great battles between the NFL,NBA, and MLB stars with the one odd formula 1 race car driver making the appearance.
Time for me to fill out the ol' ballot ... AP Football Poll.
Oh, that is a tough one Jay. I assume Auburn will be in the 30s somewhere.
Man, I freakin' loved this show:
Blacksheep
It was probably terrible, but I thought it was great.
#1 Utah
#2 UT
#3 USC ...
Jay G.
Are you going to be like Spurrier and have a golden team that you always put in the first poll of the year?
Four out of those 5 tvs I picked from curbs where people left them, while moving or graduating. Some of them were not working when I picked them.
God bless RCA for their craptastic soldering on the board. Took me 10 minutes to fix each tv.
I can NOT get "I'm just a bill, yes I'm only a bill and I'm sitting here on Cacpitol Hill" OUT OF MY FREAKIN' HEAD!
Bobby Conrad's second greatest role next to James West
In terms of the polls, just don't vote Ohio State #1. Ohio State should never ever be allowed to be #1 again.
Aero - awesome set-up!
JGT - you gonna at least squeak us in at 25?
JG
Put the names in a hat and pull them out.
I think it would make as much sense as most of the pre-season polls out there.
Just replace it with conjunction junction, Monica. That ought to do the trick
Obama can't get one passed, Monica.
Not one worth anything, that is.
Or not one worth less than several billion, right HH?
I love Wall Street. One day it is that everything is crumbling and we are all gonna die. The next day everything is wonderful and stocks are through the roof. Just got to ride the waves.
Renaldo "Skeets" Nehemiah was pretty good on "The Superstars".
Elbow room, elbow room
got ta, got ta get me some
Elbow room
pre season polls < anything
Choc you're cracking me up. You also have me trying to think of this 70's tv show. The guy with black hair, was a detective, his dad lived in a camper over by the beach???
Monica < cool than me
Weren't one or both of the Hardy Boys participants in the TV Olympics? I seem to remember that. Maybe I'm mistaken though.

By the way, on Wednesday we nailed the taliban / alqaeda boss that had $5 Mil reward.
I was pretty upset because initial reports were that we missed him, and only nailed his plump young wife (figuratively speaking).
But .. yeahh. They carried his carcass in a bucket.
Monica < cool than anyone here!
Who gets the reward?
Me.
That looks good Jay..
I see you aren't necessarily buying into the LSU hype...
good work jay g, you earned it
JGT
Nice order. I'll switch TCU and BYU though. Just for the heck of it.
I'll switch Utah and bama because that's .. I think.. the order of things.
Mr Tate - You really think South Carolina is going to pull that off?!?
or is Southern cal so good they need to be there twice
3 and 5 are both overrated
Less cool that anyone? Who are you trying to kid?
Aero...
Superb. Congrats.
reasonable poll JGT
I would move LSU and Georgia Tech up a bit.
Illinois being that high surprises me a bit, but I don't follow them.
I had Boise State on there twice initially. Now USC gets the honors!
Nobody gets the reward. It was one of our drones. Nice little machines.
I wish someone could claim the reward, but CIA will charge that someone the cost of mission and the missiles. That's a lot more than $5 mil.
Hmmm, I assumed that was South Carolina at number 3:)
Monica - I'm gonna go with "The Rockford Files". James Garner as Jim Rockford.
Rockford
JGT, I like your poll except for the Trojans. What have they done without Leinart & Bush? I am so over anything about them.
As far as I am concerned, they are the Bama of the Pac 10.
I have drones.
They're not deployed in Afghanistan/Pakistan/Iraq, though.
OK. I'll just take Southern Cal off the ballot. They're terrible.
13-3 against Top 10 opponents since Pete Carroll arrived.
12-1 in 2008.
11-2 the year before.
11-2 the year before that.
Sucky program, no doubt at all.
nice comeback, JayGT...though I dislike them enough to keep them just outside the top 5.
Why don't you put USC in all 25 slots just so Bama can't be in there?
How does Malzahn feel about Todzilla? Andrew Gribble offers a little info.
Jim Rockford was the one that lived in the trailer. His dad had a bungalow not far down the road.
for $3+ million, Ferentz better get his Iowa boys in there somewhere.
Chris Todd? Really?
I predict that his arm will fall off in practice and he'll be standing there ala the Black Knight saying he's fine and ready to play.
I've never understood the SEC's blind hatred of USC. My problem in 2004 was always more with Oklahoma (where the wind comes sweeping down the plains), even before SC took them behind the woodshed in Miami.
EB, there is no way that Oklahoma team should have been in the BCSCG in 2004. They nearly lost to a couple of teams. I think they beat Texas A&M by a late field goal if I remember correctly.
I think the SEC's fans hatred of USC comes from their lack of competition week to week in the Pac-10 and it seems the NCAA doesn't bother to look into anything there, but they will come running to a SEC campus if there is a question.
EddieBro...
I don't think it's so much 2004. I just don't like anyone that's good. But then again, I'm more cynical than most.
ehyou - I'm having a deja vu moment with your 2:22 post. You're freaking me out.
It's just a flesh wound..
Who will get the start at deep snapper?
Agreed Steve, I think you can make a case against all three teams that year, but most especially OU. My only problem with SC was that when they struggled to beat a mediocre (at best) UCLA team by five points, their effort that day was hailed as Championship material while we were dissed a couple of weeks earlier from only beating Bama by 8 (and that after they scored a late TD). Not to mention that our ten point victory over UT (a ten win team that season) was treated like a letdown on the same day that USC pulled a rabbit out of the hat to beat the Bruins.
USC plays mostly PAC 10 teams, not quite the powerhouse of the SEC.
Two of those Top 10 teams were Ohio State ranked #1 (that was certainly impressive).
I don't like them. They beat us soundly in 2003, I understand that but that doesn't mean I think they are worthy of the rankings they get now.
Here is a MA article on Todzilla. Jay, did you right this? I don't see the author listed.
USC had a very good team in 2004. I don't know if we would have beat them, but we would have done much better than that train wreck which was Oklahoma.
Choc - Rockford Files! Yes! And you're so right, ehyou about the bungalow, etc. Thanks.
I agree with Steve. We would have played USC far closer than Oklahoma did...however I don't think we would have beaten them.
THT...
Thanks man. I do sometimes have that effect on folks.
No doubt that the PAC-10 is weaker than the SEC. If you put SC in the SEC, their dominance becomes a lot more fragile and Florida is definitely the program of that past three or four years. That said, Carroll is 4-0 against SEC teams with a combined score of 167-48.
This place is going to get absolutely outrageous when the football season starts...compared to the prior seasons I've been flying with HABOTN
Compare and contrast Auburn's recruiting area versus USC's.
USC is surrounded by UCLA, Stanford, Cal, San Diego State.
Auburn is surrounded by Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
So, lets lay some money down. I would take the 4 teams surrounding Auburn over the teams surrounding USC pretty much any season.
jhag - that's right.
I just looked at 2 years ago during middle of fall practice
8/24 and 8/25... Only 1 blog each day. 8/24 got 4 posts (half of which were by JGT) and the following day got a 50% boost to 6 total posts. I hate to think of all I've missed!
"Aural Goodness"
I love it. JGT is word-crafty.
So I've been getting this message all afternoon:
"We're sorry...
... but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now."
Apparently there is an engineer somewhere on my network spamming blogger.com. Who knew?
Looking at the past convo... USC's praise is deserved. They would have multiple championships if they didn't screw up against incredibly inferior opponents at least once a year. I'd say they are above Florida right now as the top program in the country.
I mean seriously, check out their nonconference schedule + results the last few years. It's unbelievable.
HABOTN: En Fuego....
Michael- it's probably a puppet controlling your computer. you're going to have to burn it and get a new one
Well it jut did it again... but I got around it by going to my history and finding the url for the comment thread! Outsmarted the puppets again!
MJT - 7,459
Puppets - 2
OK a list I can get excited about! The years first betting lines are on the way!
Of course, that score means
Michael 0
Puppets 2
because we've all been taught that numbers above 1,689 don't exist.
What are the odds, mond? WHAT ARE THE ODDS!??!?!?!?@#@#$
Current over/under on Auburn wins:
6.5
odds i drink too much for the first game 5:3
THE PRESSURE OF A NAME!
Nice, THT. You should be in charge of the "MJT Discontinuity/Goofs" section of the HABOTN FAQ. I am sure they happen quite often.
Odds the team is saved by a walk-on who turns out to be incredibly athletic as a werewolf: 700:1
actually, quite rare. But you really cracked me up with this post, so it is etched in my memory:

nanoseconds aren't real, THT. I don't believe in a time unit that I can't count in.
I also don't believe in number I haven't counted to. Thus, I deem all numbers above 1,689 to be fake.
5:46 PM
those are better odds than for Chris Todd's arm to remain one with his torso.
werewolves not so reliable for day games...
Early lines
Auburn (-13) v. LA Tech
UAT (-4) v. Virginia Tech
found this one interesting
UGA at OK St (-4.5)
neither are wolfanannies
Hello. I am back. Resume all hating UAT activities.
THT - glad that one stuck with ya!
Another discontinuity is this: do I own a sheep farm or a goat farm? If you had asked me a few months ago, I would have said, "Wel..... ehhh... let me go check." But now I will just say I have always owned both. So never mind, no goof to see here. I have always owned both a sheep farm and a goat farm!
JET'S BACK
JET'S BACK
JET'S BACK
jet...
Here's hoping your conference was sub-par.
I have been left alone in my office. The entire staff is gone. I feel like I should do something bayud.
Feeling quite conferred ... have I missed anything?
My computer had no signal in my room, so I was, amazingly, with tech-blocked for close to 72 hours.
The much beloved HABOTN videos made it impossible for me to check in on the Dingleberry.
So I'm further out of the loop than I've ever been. Has Justin Albert looking?
Jet - you were in my dream last night!
Jet's here? I'm gone! No, unrelated, but time for me to GTHOH!!!
I'm about to have a 9 day weekend!!! Yippeee!!!
I just typed a really long description of my dream, and it deserves to be on the next page I think.
make way for
michael's
oooh yeah.
I had a dream last night. A bunch of Hotties were in a board room. Mon was there, so was FSJ. Jay G was at the front of the table. I was toward the back. Then across from me I realized Jet had shown up! He didn't usually come to the HABOTN board meeting! So we were all excited about that. It seems like Jet had a lot to say, but I don't really remember what.
So Jay G was talking, going over business items or something, and then it was his wife's turn to talk. It was the first time for me to see his wife (who I have never seen a picture of in real life), and she was really quite attractive in my dream. I wondered if Jay G would appreciate it if I mentioned it to him that his wife was attractive or if he would be really offended. I sat there wondering that for awhile, I must have been distracted, because then something horrible happened...
It was apparently a lunch meeting, and I had a hot dog. I looked down, and someone had taken the hot dog out of my bun and eaten some of it, and then they put it back in my bun. I was livid. FSJ started laughing at me (I have no idea what FSJ looks like, but I knew it was him in my dream). I was like, "Haha, very funny!"
And then I woke up and was like, "I hope I remember this dream tomorrow so I can post it." And then I remembered it and posted it. The end.
