Auburn vs. Tennessee game time announced

Hey everyone. Everyone who had "night game" in the AU/UT pool is feeling mighty good about things right now.

ESPN has picked up the game and will televise it beginning at 6:45 p.m. CDT on Oct. 3. The game will be played in Neyland Stadium, a large facility that holds lots of fans, and should provide an intriguing matchup.

Tennessee's power-run game could be an issue for the Tigers' defensive front.

Auburn's multi-dimensional offense could be an issue for Tennessee's linebackers.

How are you feeling? Better, I hope. I have relapsed since the weekend and have spent the afternoon in bed. I am NEVER sick. I'm ready to be over this.

After the past 3 or 4 years, I didn't know plays could go farther than 20 yards. I had forgotten you can go the whole field in one play.

Dan - I thought before the season that AL, GA, MS, and LSU all had more talent than us. I still think that is true, but I don't know that they are all playing better than us.

Cincy,

Not really feeling alot better. I think I may have a sinus infection. I have been taking your NyQuil and DayQuil. They have helped me get some sleep, in fact I took a long nap this afternoon and felt a little better after I woke up. I am sinking now. Thanks for asking about me. If I am not a good bit better in the morning, I am off to see the doctor. I am sorry that you had a relapse. Take care of yourself.

Choco,

It's coming.

If Finebaum has his way, Trooper Taylor will not be with us much longer.

The REC wants this. Therefore, they will not stop.

PF just on the channel 6 news sports report. Very positive comments on AL; strictly football. Didn't talk about anything relating to football for AU; just Trooper's alleged use of the N word and discussed whether or not he should be fired for it.

It is, CWE. But when Finebaum gets his teeth locked on to something, he rarely lets it go.

I hope it blows over, but he is making waves. I suppose we'll see if he has any real reach outside of this state soon enough.

6:30 PM

Well, sticking with my Looney Tunes G-rating, Finebaum is at least one "N" word himself...choose from nincompoop or ninny. Anyone at AU who caves in to that deserves the same description.

I hope Auburn and Trooper totally ignore this and don't apologize. That will make it a much bigger deal. Just don't even acknowledge it and hopefully it will go away. I listened to the clip and I couldn't hear exactly what he said.

This isn't something the national media will get excited about. Good lord, that was a great clip and there was nothing wrong with it. People make a big deal about a word. Geeze, how frickin childish. It is just a word. I don't use the N-word, but it isn't because it is a bad word and it isn't that I would be afraid of getting killed. I just wouldn't want someone offended by the word. The intent behind the use of the word is what is important. Tropp was using it as a show of brotherhood. They have a common bond. Man, what a bunch of crap over nothing. They might as well be bashing him for saying my brother or calling that other player his dog. Whoopie!!! How ignorant the Alabama media ends up looking.

If I in any way thought any of our players or coaches were racists I would say fire them. That includes Malzahn, Chizik, Trooper, the whole dang bunch. There is no room for racism in college football, every darn one of them. Call me an n-lover or whatever, but I appreciate these kids.

I happened to think, Coach TT had a microphone on. He knew he was being filmed and recorded. I just don't think that he would have been that careless or inconsiderate under those circumstances.

The only problem I would have if in fact it was a gaffe on Trooper's part, is that Auburn just does not need to have to deal with this right now. We have had many unwarranted knocks on Auburn over the past year and we just don't need another one now. If that is what he said, he has got to be more careful about that and any other controversial statement he might make.
After all, he is our Assistant Head Coach.

Even if that was a white coach saying that, if he said it the way Troop did and the player wasn't offended, I have no problem with it. You can see that Troop was talking to the player in a respectful friendly manner. People get way to excited over some things.

I think Florida is not as good as they were believed to be. They struggled Saturday. I think UT is about where they were thought to be which is slightly below average. I think neither UGA or ARKY are all that good at all. I think we are better than we were expected to be which is slightly above average. I think LSU will have trouble scoring points all year long. Based on all of that, I think we have a chance to win every game we play. Not saying we will, just that we have the opportunity if we play well. I think we beat both UT and ARKY on the road.

I think our D likes to make plays. They will get burned alot trying to make those plays. But if they keep getting after it, like they did Saturday night, they'll make the plays more than they won't.

I don't really know how the year will turn out, but I like our chances. That's all I'm sayin'.

Any thoughts to two ESPN national guys giving Auburn a vote? ONe thing I trust out of them compared to some of the other names on the board is that they will have seen a broader range of games in person than most writers, thus a more representative cross sample to be able to compare to...

Looking at a lot of the guys "at the top," they sure appear have gaps in what they do.

The two ESPN guys voting usually have a grasp of what's going on, so I think their polls hold some weight. I don't necessarilly agree with them putting Auburn that high. I have to guess that they see the Ball State game as a gimmee and with Auburn 4-0, they would put Auburn around 20, so they're just a little ahead of themselves.

A.J Green could be the best receiver in the nation. He definitely owns the conference (Julio who?- 11 games without a touchdown?) My only problem with the use of that term is that it confuses, then stirs up the rednecks. America would be better for all groups to just drop the word all together.

If Troop did say it and if McNeil took it as brotherhood, then PF should shut up.

Keep ignoring the fact he hasn't scored in 11 games, obviously he will get drafted... don't be delusional though because of his hype...once he produces (i.e TD's) then brag about him

+ playing the likes of North Texas? FIU? cmon dude get a TD grab

Easy Hag...

If it was 4th and 10 and you needed a WR to make an athletic play, rather throw to Julio or Darvin?

10:31 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

Not ignoring anything...Julio hasn't scored a touchdown in 11 games...

But you can bet that there are two people assigned to him on just about every play he is in on...

There's a reason for that.

Uh..he played the first quarter against FIU and didn't play Saturday.

Your right Julio is a god, sorry He leads the SEC in TD's yards pretty much everything...I almost forgot

that was a great game by the way.

Jhag....drop it. Julio and the UGA WR are the best 2 in the SEC right now. The UGA WR has much better stats this year....his team needs him to do such. Julio has a nagging injury and they are protecting him.

Double coverage? Please. All the Stars and Escalades in the world can't erase an 11 game no-TD slump.

FSJ, this is my favorite topic to discuss with Bammers this season. It's brought me much enjoyment. Nothing personal.

Hoopie, Darvin Adams, A.J. Green, and Jarius Wright are the top receivers in the SEC. Julio Jones is not in the discussion.

It wasn't worth the effort to remember or look up and I don't need to prove anything.

Don't change the subject with an attack..that's juvenile....in fact that's a silly act right out of the juvenile Tigerdroppings site.

Julio has to be in the discussion. He is a great receiver even if he played on a run oriented team last season.

btw, how awesome is this stat chart to look at:

2009 Conference Leaders

PASSING ATT COMP YDS TD
J. Cox, Georgia 80 50 738 8
C. Todd, Auburn 80 43 725 6
R. Mallett, Arkansas 61 38 717 6

RUSHING CAR YDS AVG TD
B. Tate, Auburn 59 349 5.9 1
M. Hardesty, Tennessee 64 345 5.4 3M. Ingram, Alabama 44 297 6.8 3

RECEIVING REC YDS AVG TD
A. Green, Georgia 17 275 16.2 3
D. Adams, Auburn 15 261 17.4 4
J. Wright, Arkansas 10 247 24.7 1

10:46 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

Oh it's nothing personal....

Alabama doesn't need Julio to score touchdowns..They need him to move the chains which he is adept at doing.

Ingram, Richardson, & Upchurch can take care of punching it in.

Also, I would wait until the young man plays against a real defense before crowning him.

Mississippi State may be the second worst team in the SEC. La Tech isn't a great team. And I would venture to guess that WVU is no better than a middle of the pack SEC team.

10:47 PM

jhag, you apparently missed it. When hoopie said this he was talking about A.J. Green. Take the time to read the posts. Reading is fundamental.

"Jhag....drop it. Julio and the UGA WR are the best 2 in the SEC right now. The UGA WR has much better stats this year....his team needs him to do such. Julio has a nagging injury and they are protecting him."

Bama hasn't needed Julio and they are obviously protecting him. It would really be stoopid to just look at stats.

This started with jhag propping Darvin over Julio.

I'll ask it again. It's 4th down coach...who ya gonna double team....Darvin or a healthy Julio??

10:48 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

Yes, I know he's good. I don't care. It's funny right now to bring up the fact that he hasn't scored a TD in 11 games to Bammers who swear that he's the best in the SEC. That's all.

10:51 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Why in the world would you care if Hoopie knew A. J. Green's name? Bizarre.

And the stats kind of prove what Hoopie was saying. Notice you don't see McElroy there. Bama has traditionally been a running team. They are passing more this season, but Julio has been hurt. How good a receiver is doesn't depend upon stats based on the QB that is throwing to him. It is based upon how he plays.

10:51 PM
Blogger JgobravesHAG said...

Your taking this way out or porportion... I stated a fact that Julio Jones has not scored a single point in 11 games! and some how you try to blast me...oh the humor

10:52 PM
Blogger Quitstina said...

If you guys are gonna contend that us being ranked 8th in the SEC defensively means nothing this early in the season, then I hardly see how using the same stats to prove who is the best receiver in the league makes sense.

I am happy we have big play makers this year, but I think saying that Adams is the best in the SEC is a little premature at this point.

10:52 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

Exactly jhag..You hate Bama so your orange and blue shades are clouding your judgement.

10:52 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

I'm suspect of a bruised knee keeping anyone off the field, btw. I know, you want to protect your best players and all, but that's not really a gnarly injury (sure, it hurts like hell when it happens, and causes some lingering soreness and maybe swelling for a day or two, but it's not sideline worthy). Have a feeling something is being hidden.

10:53 PM
Blogger JgobravesHAG said...

Nobody came close to saying that Darvin Adams is the best WR in the SEC....

But Julio has 4 career Td's
Darvin has 4 TD's in three games...BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

10:54 PM

Good lord Peter..

I said second best at this point. The other second best receiver is not on the field, so I'll continue to make fun of Bama through my orange and blue shades. Ya'll leave JHAG alone. He's just messing around and stirring the pot based on a comment that I made to start the pot flowing in that direction.

I believe Trott played with a bruised knee against WV, but the question is why would they need to play Julio?

10:56 PM

Forget the Julio stuff, he is a living legend him and his 11 games straight without a TD, case closed.

10:57 PM

Our receivers have been a surprise this year. I didn't think Adams and Fannin would be our best receivers. Zachery is up there too, but I thought he and Hawthorne would be the guys. Adams has pretty much shocked me, especially against MSU and WV.

10:59 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

FSJ, if those games don't matter enough to get your top players on the field,at least for a half, they shouldn't be played at all. He's got a bruise, not a strain or anything worse. There's something more to it that "protecting" him.

It just happened, SteveFC. I made an aside joke about Julio in a post praising A.J. and saying I was scared of facing him. FSJ showed up at the right time to take offense, JHag appeared to appreciate my joke, and it spun out of control. You and Hoopie joined in, Kristina voiced her disapproval, and the rest is history. So is the HABOTN. Stuff just works that way here sometimes. It's always ready for the perfect storm.

Caustic
1. capable of burning, corroding, or destroying living tissue.
2. severely critical or sarcastic: a caustic remark.
