First Post: Wednesday of Week Six

Hey everyone. Thanks for watching my video, which was posted last night. There was a lot of funny stuff going on. Antonio Coleman is far less quotable than he once was, but he hasn't lost any authority among teammates. When he tells a man to shut him mouth, that man shuts his mouth.

I told you all about Mario Fannin's letter jacket thing earlier this year. Since it's a bit chilly at night now, No. 27 again is flossing at all times. I could tell Kodi Burns got a kick out of it -- the same way you might get a kick out of your dad wearing a pocket protector. OK, maybe that's just my family.

I'm flying to Tulsa, Okla., on Thursday for the Auburn/Arkansas game. My peeps live in Tulsa. This may or may not preclude me from participating in Thursday Night Live. Internet access is spotty at my parents' house.

Here's the Auburn situation at this moment:

Smell? it can't be me. I just took a shower.

Jet.. I agree. bad vibes 'bout the bull.

4:22 PM
Blogger IV said...

Jet,

I have been saying that for some time now. Do you think he is not as billed prior to his arrival? Or could it be he is in over his head in the SEC?

No worries Aero; I was smelling the fine fragrance of a new page..... it sure does smell good.

What has been the most exciting thing you have done so far in Italy?

I'm getting definite chatter regarding the Bull, and the chatter says no Bull for the Hogs.

Bring your jacket, Harrison. It's gonna be cool.

That has been my opinion as well Jay.

The bull has looked confused every game I have seen him play. It looks like he is just running around trying to figure out what he is supposed to be doing.

4:29 PM
Blogger Aeronaut said...

IV.

Bad vibes related to his motivation / moral and stuff. He's supposed to feel disappointed under the circumstances, but is he still with the team?

He needs to bounce back and play better. His biggest flaw, I think, is that he's trying too hard to impress.

4:29 PM
Blogger IV said...

Aero,

You may be right on the money with your trying to impress thought.

4:31 PM
Blogger Aeronaut said...

2.0, Would you be going to any Operas?

4:31 PM
Blogger IV said...

A name that has dropped off the radar screen is Aubrey Phelps. I suppose he never got clearance to play this year.

4:32 PM
Blogger Harrison said...

2.0- Are the Olive Gardens in Italy better than the ones here? I bet they are.

4:33 PM
Blogger Aeronaut said...

Harrison

Word is that Pybus has had two concussions. His status, and his future as an athlete is not very clear.

4:33 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Eltoro is not unlike another former hyperaggressive LB we used to have.

He was always the best athlete on the field in HS and JC. He could run through any seam in the OL and make plays.

Can't do it on this level. It takes some fundamentals. He's not there, and not very close. I hate it. I love his energy and enthusisam, which have clearly been sapped because of his struggles.

4:34 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Harrison,

that's true, but our Pizza Huts totally dominate theirs.

4:35 PM
Blogger E-Bro said...

When you go to Olive Garden and they give you the "Tour of Italy" and it includes Chicken Parm. That's a bold face lie. They do not do chicken and pasta in Italy. Maybe Little Italy. Who needs it though when the pasta is that good.

4:35 PM
Blogger Aeronaut said...

I don't think Aubrey Phillips got clearance from NCAA. That and his undisclosed medical condition thing...

Why do we always lose like 1/4th the team to medical issues before the season even starts? Put them in padded rooms from February till September. It works for Rolando McClain.

4:36 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

I imagine Olive Garden serves steak and mashed potatoes over in Italy.

As for the Bull, I have him figured out. To understand him, you mush watch Rocky III. The Bull before Auburn was Clubber Lang against Rocky in the first fight. The second fight is Clubber while at Auburn.

I wish I had a chance to listen to Pavarotti's Nassun Dorma.

4:44 PM

Aero- hadn't heard that about pybus. I may make fun of him, but I wouldn't ever want that to happen, that sucks

4:45 PM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

Spencer Pybus? He won't be playing in November. Or October.

Don't look for Harris Gaston, either.

4:45 PM

I told you all about Pybus two weeks ago. I think it was in the Campfire.

Fear Chris Humphries!!! He will bring it.

4:47 PM

As far as Eltoro Freeman, I don't think he's been suspended or anything. I just don't think he's ready to play mind games with Petrino and the Boys.

Harrison: I should have said "Spender Pybus" ... then you would remember.

4:50 PM
Blogger Harrison said...

That's right Jay. that would have stuck in my brain. Plus most campfires are on Thursday. That's guys night out here in Auburn

4:51 PM
Blogger Aeronaut said...

Tate, not 'suspended'. Just his demeanor looked different (or indifferent?) on the sideline the last outing which is airing some rumors. Maybe a little interview sometime?

2.0. Hatechu and your some classmates.

4:53 PM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

Can't interview him.

Chizik won't allow it.

4:55 PM

That outlook does not sound good at all about Aubrey.

I hope you are wrong, JayG.

4:55 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Maybe Eltoro's on Double Secret Probation.

4:56 PM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

I'd say approximately half the players requested in a given week are disallowed by Chizik.

That's why you haven't heard from Toro, Eric Smith, Benton, Jamar Travis (redshirt burned for special teams) or Emory Blake lately.

Tuberville's comments on Chris Low's blog. Very classy I think.

Tuberville said he remains a big Auburn fan and complimented the job offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn has done with the offense.

“I love these kids,” Tuberville said. “They laid it on the line for me last year. That’s why I’m so excited for them, especially the seniors and what they went through last year and what they’re having an opportunity to go through this year. They deserve it. I put them in a tough situation. Now they’re in a very good situation for them. They just need to keep it going.”

6:09 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

I like that Tubs comment. In spite of the let down, I think he's both a good coach and a good person.

I'm watching "Wild Hogs" on FX (a couple hundred channels and nothing on). I'm finding it hard to root for the heroes (the Hogs). It just seems wrong.

Sensi,

7:27 PM
Blogger cincytiger said...

I am trying to remember without going back and looking at all the previous posts - didn't you pick Auburn to lose to West Virginia and to Tennessee? What were your picks in the other games?

As a side note Phil Picked Tennessee last week, too. Just sayin.

7:30 PM

Cincy- he picked west Virginia and originally UT, but he changes the UT pick after some convincing. I think Sensi goes with his gut based on what he knows. He will say for sure.

7:30 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

There is one guy on Tiderinsider that predicts Alabama to lose by some ridiculous score each week.

Has to be in jest.

7:31 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

My predictions so far:
(Remember, I do not claim to be able to hit the score or the spread.)

Arkansas 35, Auburn 31
Auburn 24, Tennessee 20
Auburn 37, Ball State 10
West Virginia 35, Auburn 31
Auburn 24, Mississippi State 21
Auburn 24, La. Tech 17

7:32 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

FSJ- Tubs said that on jox today along with some other interstimg things, especially about blasting Jimbo Fisher and that his wife could have coached the LSU offense.

7:32 PM
Blogger cincytiger said...

Maybe we can convince Sensi's gut to go with Auburn :)

7:34 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Bag- Sensi has good reason for his pick, I just disagree.

7:35 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

Sensi, can you go back on the air? I've got something to say to you.

7:35 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Sensi is obviously a pessimist with a sour outlook on life ;-).

Arkansas certainly COULD beat AU and they've frequently been a stumbling block, but I think Auburn has played better football more consistently. AU 45, Ark 31.

7:36 PM
Blogger IV said...

Leave Sensi alone. He picked WV and see what happened? I like his AU-Arky pick since it makes me feel better about my pick of 35-24 AU. If he keeps doing what he is doing, he may get one right before the season is over. I just don't think it will be this weekend.

7:37 PM
Blogger cincytiger said...

I'm hearing rumors that Byron will be back this week. Those of you in the know, heard anything?

7:37 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

My reasoning:

The Tigers at 5-0 are easily the surprise team in the SEC this year. In spite of glaring holes on defense, Auburn has found ways to win mostly through the high-powered offense that keeps the tempo moving and puts points on the scoreboard. Arkansas just puts points on the scoreboard (unless playing Alabama) while the defense has been largely lack until last week. The Hogs defense gave up yards to Texas A&M but found ways to end Aggies drives before they could cash into the endzone. Auburn’s defensive backfield has ability to create turnovers but their coverage skills will be tested greatly this week. Several times last week, Auburn defenders were beat by WRs who simply dropped the ball or the quarterback didn’t make a good throw. That won’t happen this week as Ryan Mallett and company are very talented. Arkansas, for all the defensive issues, has faced solid running teams and performed well enough to put the games in the opposing quarterback’s hands. That will be the Hogs gameplan and it will be on Auburn’s Chris Todd and his gang of receivers to pull this on through for the Tigers. This one has the makings of an early morning shootout and will probably down to which team has the ball last. Arkansas has the playmakers offense to win this one if they can limit the turnovers. Arkansas 35, Auburn 31.

7:38 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

Phil Steele is 81% picking so far this season. That sounds good, except that's through Cupcakeland (first 4 weeks) and straight up (not against the spread). Eff him and his Notre Dame loving self.

7:38 PM
Blogger cincytiger said...

I'm just picking at you Sensi. You always have very good logical reasons for your picks - I just hope you are wrong.

7:38 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

Jay has a new thread up.

7:39 PM
Blogger AUfan said...

Sensi, I'm thinking Auburn-37, Arkansas-33.

Your pick seems reasonable to me, though. Michael Smith lit the Auburn D up last year, and the rush defense has been even worse this year. Petrino has to be licking his chops looking at film of the Auburn defense. Unfortunately for him, his defense is even worse.

7:40 PM
Blogger IV said...

Sensi,

You almost sound like you know what you are talking about. Almost.

7:40 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

IV, my berating of Sensi's pick spent enough good vibes to get Auburn through....well, that and the crisco on the hands of WV players.
