Welcome to Tiger Stadium

Hey everyone. We have arrived here at LSU's Tiger Stadium, where a lot of people are outside drinking heavily.

Heard on my way in: ``We've finished the Absolut. Now it's time for Seagram's."

PRE-GAME UPDATES:
  • Eltoro Freeman is starting at weak-side linebacker.

  • Hot Carter is starting at strong end.

  • Anthony Gulley now is wearing the No. 8 jersey.

  1. Freep,

Does LSU miss your definition of decent as well?

  2. My one weekend 16 game playoff makes a lot of sense. Every single game will be played in the same stadium all on one weekend. Can you imagine? You watch Auburn play. If they win, they may have to play the following game. There are only 15 games in a 16 team playoff, so we could have the entire playoff over in less than 48 hours.

  3. Your nuts SteveFC, nuts

    ReplyDelete
  4. second on the nuts motion.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Watching this game should further prove that Auburn's offense going downhill is not just a strength of schedule thing. We looked better on O against this team than either UF or Bama has.

  6. Hey, I may be crazy, but I solved the playoff thing and I handled it without changing the bowls. It is just that the top 16 teams go to one bowl. We could even let them go to the place that needs help the most. Can you imagine the Katrina bowl playoff in New Orleans? It would really stink for the teams that draw the 3a.m. games though.

  7. Compare and contrast our offense against Kentucky and Bama's offense against Kentucky. 500 words or less. This is an open book test.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I cannot believe that David Palmer is the closest thing to a Heisman winner that Bama has had. I would have put about half a dozen players from our 2004 team ahead of him.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Ingram has 72 yards.

    Heisman front-runner.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Thats easy Steve, Bama scored we didn't

    ReplyDelete
  11. IV,

    I'll answer that question in about 5 hours. . . ;-]

    ReplyDelete
  12. Freep,

Where do you have LSU ranked in the SEC now? Upper half or lower half?

    ReplyDelete
  13. OK, point made.

LSU is the only decent team remaining on Bama's schedule.

But they aren't as good a team as they were in, say, 2005. Which was the point of my original post: Bama may not be any better than they were that season, but there's not a 2005-equivalent LSU or AU waiting for them at the end of the year.

  14. Why does Alabama's field look like a sand-box? It looks like they play games 5 days a week at B-D.

    ReplyDelete
  15. There aren't many weak links on the UAT defense, but it looks like Kareem Jackson might be one.

That's a great defense. They make you go through hell to get points, and when you think you might get some, they make a big play.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Maybe they have been practicing for Steve's playoff Aufan

    ReplyDelete
  17. LOL, '87. I didn't think about that. Steve must have Nikki on speed-dial.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Jet,
To score on their D, big plays for TD's are a must. They will only have a few plays a game to hit them on, a team will have to be razor-sharp to pull it off. I don't see many long, sustained drives against the Evil Empire.

TN would love to have that missed FG from the first half about now.

    ReplyDelete
  20. AUfan ...

Exactly. You know you've got a heck of defense when you don't have a first down in the second half, and you would be stunned to lose.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anonymous5:20 PM

UAT's D is scary good. In pains me to say it, but it's true.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Gulf ...

I was going to say I didn't think they'd make this FG, and they didn't. Lincoln is struggling.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hope to God I am wrong guys but heard directly from a player that Chris Todd is out tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  24. That field goal was huge. I hate games where we are ahead by 6 for most of the game. We had a game against LSU like that known as the earthquake game, I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anonymous5:26 PM

Two possession game = game over for TN. Might be ugly, but another win for UAT.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous5:27 PM

    Yeah, sure he is. ;]

    ReplyDelete
  27. Reemer got a hand around? Are you allowed to say that on TV?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I heard T. Cody ate Chris Todd.

    ReplyDelete
  29. JayGT - we'll be leaving our hotel and walking over there to join you in just a couple of minutes.

I still feel like AU is going to get clobbered. I hope I am so very wrong.

Ingram's numbers are limited based on two facts:
    1) Tennessee has dominated time of possession
    2) Tennessee is a top 5 SEC defense

I'd hate to see him win it because it'll be one more thing Bammers never shut up about, but I'm not ready to write him off yet. Tebow hasn't played a great game yet and Tim Brando says it's his to lose.

    Go figure.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That was one impressive run by Ingram.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anonymous5:35 PM

P.S. Lane Kiffin may talk a lot, but he is going to be very good at Tennessee. The future their is bright.

    ReplyDelete
  33. THT, I share your sense of impending ugliness.

Hopefully, we will be pleasantly surprised.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Any chance that Todd and Elroy have been exchanging notes?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ingram is very good, but he deserves the Heisman about as much as Obama deserved a Nobel Peace Prize.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous5:39 PM

The future there is bright? Yep. Bright orange.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Obama for the Nobel Prize? I didn't know they gave a Nobel Prize in B.S. Interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  38. You can't convince me that INgram deserves Heisman over CJ Spiller (who probably won't win it either)

    ReplyDelete
  39. That fumble there was important for the Heisman talk.

    ReplyDelete
  40. This is the first game in less than a week that I've expected Auburn to roll.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous5:45 PM

Does a close win change poll positions?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anonymous5:47 PM

    TD UT

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anonymous5:47 PM

    Interesting...

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous5:47 PM

    Winning ugly is back.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sensi, I don't think Bama looks as dominant as they did earlier in the year. Their offense seems to be regressing, but the defense is outstanding.

That Bama/UF game looks more and more interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Dion Lewis of Pitt has looked better than Ingram.

Of course, Ingram may pad his stats when he plays against our leaky defense.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Holy Julie Jones!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anonymous5:52 PM

They have certainly regressed on offense. Wonder what the issue is?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Need a double move over there.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anyone hear some toilets flush in Alabama?

    ReplyDelete
  51. He just called Bama Auburn.

And holy hell if Tenn wins this.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Man, this would be a tough loss for the Tied.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Wow, what a finish!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Jeezus, comeon Tenn, you can't do anything right.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Apparently Eltoro will start.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Surprised??? Of course not!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anonymous5:59 PM

Once upon a time champions won like this. Now we expect high powered offenses putting up big numbers to impress pollsters. This was old fashioned SEC football.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oooh Cody, nice man boobs.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Eltoro is starting tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  60. what is a curmugeon???? And how do you spell it????

    ReplyDelete
  61. That would have been a BS penalty. Game was over. No reason to screw around with a meaningless penalty that didn't decide the game. I wish college football would get rid of some of these BS penalties.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Anonymous6:02 PM

Eltoro starting? Wow. He must have had a great week of practice.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Well time to focus on our game...hopefully we start the turn around tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  64. They may believe that Eltoro will at least be in position to make plays which is better than what had been happening.

    ReplyDelete
  65. So, is it all Todzilla, or does Caudle win it for us?

    ReplyDelete
  66. heard something about Herring being dinged up--what say you Jay?

Is this why Eltoro is starting?

    ReplyDelete
  67. What I don't understand is why it took so long to locate the ball after the block.

Wow, just thought of this - if it hadn't gone past the LOS and UT recovered it, then they would have had another chance to kick it with :00 on the clock, and 15 yards closer (with the Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty on Cody, of course).

    ReplyDelete
  68. The SEC refs this year can't avoid controversy on the CBS game.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'm disappointed in the outcome to the UT-Bama game.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'm not so sure ... kick ... ends possession ... UAT recovers ... 15 yard penalty ... one untimed down with UAT's ball is my belief.

    ReplyDelete
  71. It was 3rd down, so if UT had recovered, then it's a different story, but apparently nobody knew where the ball was.

    ReplyDelete
  72. SHOOT ME IN THE FACE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. It's a no call penalty in my mind, but RK, you would be correct if UT recovered the ball -- behind the line of scrimamge.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Here's the truth Ruth: deep down, I may have actually been happier to see UT win today than to see Auburn.

Why, with a 1st down, 40 seconds left, and a length challenged kicker, do you not try ot get more yardage/ 45 yard field goal was too long for Lincoln... had to kick it low... you saw what happened. Kills me.

    ReplyDelete
  75. yes--that sounds right. But since they all had no idea where the ball was, it's a moot point.

But I suspect we won't see Cody rip his helmet off again.

Hope the guys can dig down deep tonight--gonna take something special to come away with a win tonight.

    WDE!

    ReplyDelete
  76. So I guess we can put to rest the "weak competition" argument for Auburn's first five games.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Damn Damn Damn.....UT almost, almost...Our time now!!!!!!!!! Beat the imposter Tigers. War Eagle!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  78. OK AU Tigers = Prove me wrong- I will eat hot sauce on my crow - and like it.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yes, as brilliant as UT managed the game in the first 59:15, they screwed the pooch in the final :45.

Plenty of time to have gotten closer, or at least take a couple of shots at it.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Git'er done Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  81. seriously Michael, WVU is 6-1 and we all just saw what Tenn can do.

    ReplyDelete
  82. OT 'Cane's vs. Clem & Son. Hard call.... but since I HATE the U go Tigers.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Oh Yea.... Nice throw for Clem & Son

    ReplyDelete
  84. I'll disagree ... more plays were more opportunities for UT to screw up ... in college, you get the ball inside the 30, needing a FG to win, the offense and the coaches have done their job.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Heard a rumor that Todd is out. Can't be true.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Jay G- How does Chris Todd look in warmpups tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Didn't see who it was that made the hit on Stocker on that last UT pass, but he won the game for 'em.

There was nothing between Stocker and the endzone if he'd missed.

Good game, what I saw of it. Let's hope we can take better advantage of our opportunities in Red Stick tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Maybe Todd is out of bad luck - that's all I could imagine. No way he is out.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I knew Auburn in white jersey's was too good to be true!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Why did this game have to be on ESPN2?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Agreed. It's time to whip some bayou tigers!

    ReplyDelete
  92. because we all love Bob Davies.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Here's to Chris Todd bouncing back this week.
