  1. No Jay, I can't believe it's almost Amen Corner time already. Where does a football season go?

  2. This season has been FAH.

    ReplyDelete
  3. and all Auburn's people said...AMEN!

  4. Jay, did you know this John Thrower?

    ReplyDelete
  5. This has been an interesting football season.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Jay, you don't mean Friday the 13th do you? I beleive it is on the 14th.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Should we do a navy nightmare on Friday the 13th? Does the basketball team play then?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I think basketball plays ... Miles College? I won't be there.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Didn't/don't know much about Thrower.

    ReplyDelete
  10. He passed away today. Was just on the radio a couple of weeks ago and they said he had taken sick. Don't think he was too much older than me.
And you're welcome! It's great you have HOTTIES that can keep you in line!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Miles College? Is that part of the broader SEC-SIAC challenge? Is Bama playing Tuskegee that night?

  12. FSJ--
I do think it is John'Stump"Thrower. He did Third and long on WAUD

  13. This season went be soooooooooo fast

  14. Did I see right Homecoming against Furman is a 11:30 game.

    Why why why

No TV and no reason for such an early game.

Someone tell me I saw it wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I believe it's a 1:30 game.

    ReplyDelete
  16. With Ben "The Great One" Tate along with Toddzilla graduating, this is going to be an interesting offseason. Hopefully Tyrik steps in at QB next season. Signing a couple of these high profile tailbacks would really help.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Although I hate playing teams like Furman, I do think it is something we really need. It is basically an extra week off to heal up.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Digger, the Furman games kicks off at 12:30 CT.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I hope you are right RK but the Gadsden Times misprint listed it as 11:30am

    ReplyDelete
  20. E-Bro is correct...it is 12:30 right in the middle of the day...no time for shopping or walking around...I think the city should complain!

    ReplyDelete
  21. E-Bro even that would be better than 11:30

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mike Slive just held a news conference in regard to the Brandon Spikes matter.

He said any fans who complained about the punishment given to Spikes (suspended for a half) could be fined or suspended.

    ReplyDelete
  23. E-Bro ...

    SEC-SIAC Challenge? Sweet.

Actually, I thought it was Lebo's attempt to lose or nearly to every basketball playing school in the state. If he returns next year, Talladega and Concordia will be on the schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  24. digger,

    Gadsden Times misprint?

    Surely you jest...

    ReplyDelete
  25. Good one Jet. Lebo's looking out for the little folks.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yea I still read it. It just isn't too accurate.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I was just emailed a newspaper article about Stump Thrower by Mike Fish who was with the AJC (may still be) in 1997 when the article was written.

I didn't realize he was neck deep in the Gene Jelks thing. Interesting read.

  28. A coworker asked me ... if the video had shown Tebow getting his eyes gouged, what would have happened?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Jet...

I'm guessing a four game suspension.

    ReplyDelete
  30. FSJ ...

I was thinking something more Old Testamenty ... cut off the offender's hand, and let Tebow circumcise him at midfield.

    ReplyDelete
  31. At the very least Jet. They might decide to have gone medieval on someone's a$$ if they dare try something like that against his Tebowness. Uh oh, was that complaining?!? I hope that doesn't mean a fine, I'm kinda broke right now.

    ReplyDelete
  32. A half game? What a joke. He might as well serve him ice cream to top off his punishment.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Rack him!

Like I said on earlier post. If you're Meyer, why not just go ahead and do it for at least a full game? They're playing Vandy this week.

    ReplyDelete
  34. anyone have any UGA tickets they want to unload?

    ReplyDelete
  35. the half game suspension, aka "the DJ Hall suspension"

Way to lay down the law Urban...

    ReplyDelete
  36. I agree that the suspension for Spikes was crazy that it was a half, but I find it amusing in listening to JOX all day that the bama fans are the ones that are pissed by this and think it should be the year for the most part. It's almost like they are scared of Florida's Defense with Spikes in there. I get that there needs to be more, but for the season? Honestly? Bama fans may need to worry about this game this week before playing Florida IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Florida has a great history of punishment ... my favorite was when Zook was coach.

The Gators were preparing for Middle Tennessee and one of their star defenders was suspended due to some nefarious activity. Unfortunately, one of the hurricanes delayed the game until later in the season. The next gmae on the schedule was Tennessee. So surely the punishment would be served then.

Zook said no ... the player would still be suspended for the Middle Tennessee game later in the season.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I remember that Jet.

I just find it funny that bama fans are upset about Florida's punishment tactics when Bama's standards are laughable at best. I mean, who doesn't forget the ice cream incident. What about the guy that choked his girlfriend this year. How much suspension did he get? Gimme a break.

  41. I had typed something along the lines of "fklajsdfjod" and looked up in the box and nothing was there, then I realized I was using the keyboard for my work laptop and not my home computer.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Michael, Eddie...good points all the way around.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Did you guys see the "gbfgb" part of my post? I thought that was pretty clever.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Good article Mr. Sensible.

The thing about the Bama loss is that it was at home. They had hyped it as the biggest game in Oxford in years..

And yet they woefully underperformed on offense.

And Auburn would have beaten them worse if not for a kick return and a long run for a TD.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sensi,

Good write up, the only thing I would disagree with is the headline made it look like Ole Miss was working it's way down to mediocre. I think they live there and have since Tub took over for Brewer in 1995.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Michael ...

I understand that your "gbfgb" post is under investigation for alleged plagiarism.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Jet, I have always believed there is not more creative thing than to "borrow" other people's work in a unique way. It's all in the delivery, you know?

    ReplyDelete
  48. I saw the Spikes video. He should be kicked off the team and banned from the SEC. There is no room for trash like that in the SEC.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Spikes should get far worse than what he got for the act and for the stupidity of doing it in the open.

Sadly stuff like that happens in football games all the time at all levels, but it usually only happens when you are covered up and nobody can see the act.

Give him 2 games for the act and 2 more for stupidity.

So, what should Eric Smith get/have received?

  51. SILENCE!

    THE GREAT TEBOW HAS SPOKEN.

"I don't think that we did anything in that game that they didn't do."

  52. When I was in a high school football game many years ago, my friend jumped out of the pile screaming that someone had grabbed his balls. We were killing this team and I guess one of their players had had enough. My friend was really really really angry and screaming some not nice names to the other team, but I couldn't help but laugh a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Oh hail to the great one
Oh hell Tebow I doubt it seriously

    ReplyDelete
  54. That was plagiarism Michael, I said ggfgb two weeks ago followed by 16lp10qivx.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Michael, did you laugh because you were the one that grabbed your friend?

    ReplyDelete
  56. It sure would be nice to have a more definitive update on Zac Etherige.

    ReplyDelete
  57. dnatl - the answer to your question is something I will take to the grave with me.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I guess the running backs for Vandy, SC, FIU, and FSU are now gonna have to practice holding one hand up edge-wise in front of their face during their runs, a la the Three Stooges blocking a double eye-poke.

I was watching the game and saw the play live when Spikes reached into Ealey's helmet like he was digging around for the keys to his Hummer that he'd dropped into a storm grate. I remember thinking if that was me being gouged, CBS would be running replays over and over of a fingertip or two of Spikes' being spit out onto the field.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Listening to a call in show yesterday that Stan White and Roger Schultz do each Sunday afternoonn and Schultz was asked about the matter and he responded 'If I am in a pile and I feel something soft, I am getting a handful of it and squeezing as hard as I can.'

    ReplyDelete
  60. ...and the funny thing is, Schultz wasn't even talking about football.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Back to the pile!

    ReplyDelete
  62. the puppets killed the thread.

    ReplyDelete
  63. That's better than having them get a handful of your soft parts.

  64. Today must be the day to ship chocolate to weird addresses. I've shipped to Minnehaha Street, followed by Kissing Camels Drive.

  65. Zac is out of the hospital.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Outstanding. I have doubts we ever see him suit up again, I hope he has no complications from the injury.

That was one of the scariest hits I have ever seen.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Great to hear that.

    ReplyDelete
  68. So glad to hear that Zac's out of the hospital! Thanks for the updates!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Outstanding..Here's to a full recovery.

    War Eagle Zac!

    ReplyDelete
  70. That is fantabulous news, Mr. Tate!

    War Eagle, Zac!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Thanks for the update, JGT!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Great to hear about Zac. Hopefully he is off to a speedy full recovery.

If you are to play Florida then just wear a have shield / visor. It happens. I hate it, but it happens. Pile ups are usually the place of nastiness especially on fumbles.

  76. Me too Jhag. Need to play much better on the road tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Best news I have heard all day, regarding ZE being released from the hospital. I hope this means full recovery!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I am so grateful that Zac is on the road to recovery!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Just put up a new thread with reaction from Rodney Scott, the Ole Miss tailback who was pinned under Etheridge.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I just received an email from Mike Slive levying a hefty fine and a 1 game suspension for my criticism of the Spikes "suspension". That is all I am allowed to say on the matter.

    ReplyDelete
  81. This is just too tempting...
