Dyer commits to the Tigers

Hey everyone. Our friends at AuburnSports.com, who have ace reporter Jeffrey Lee on the ground in Arkansas, are reporting that tailback Michael Dyer has committed to play football at Auburn.

Dyer stands 5-foot-8 and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He is Arkansas' all-time rushing leader with 7,566 yards and 74 touchdowns.

``Coach (Gus) Malzahn is a really good coach and I respect his offense a lot. I know he would do really good things," Dyer told AuburnSports.com. "People promise good things, but I have a great idea that he would do the things that he says he will."

ESPN lists Dyer as the nation's No. 1 prep tailback. Rivals.com and Scout.com rank Dyer third.

More to come on this development.

The bumper boat situation was interesting. I really liked the blue bumper boats, but this puppet on my cousin's hand really liked the red one. It was pretty obvious to all who were watching that the blue bumper boats had reall dominated the session we were watching. I mean, there were kids in the red bumper boats crying they were so wet. And this puppet wouldn't shut up about how the red boats had won. So I ended up biting his head off and throwing him in the bumper boat pool.

Sad to say that my cousin's hand was also a casualty that day. He was screaming some nonsense about how the puppet wasn't real and why didn't I realize it was my cousin speaking and blah blah blah. He was hysterical, he had lost a hand after all. And he clearly didn't understand the War on Puppets we have going on in this world.

Why do coaches do what they do?

If you walk into a game after film study with a conservative expectation of winning by 3-4 TDs, why do you run a trick play on the opening kickoff?

You just wasted a play for the rest of the playoffs.

The play worked beautifully. UMS-Wright scored ... they returned left, slammed on the breaks and threw the ball back across the field to a player who raced down their sideline for a TD. Nicely executed. But why not use that against a team where every opportunity makes a difference?

Some will say, I guess, it will make opponents think down the road. Just makes no sense to be to use that in a game when you win 52-7.

Kinda like faking a punt against Ball State and getting one of your best offensive weapons hurt.

Just sayin'.

Kathy, I saw on LRCA's website that two weeks ago, Dyer broke the state's all-time rushing record. He had 175 yards in that game. I think it might be awhile before anyone breaks his record. But, like jhag said, if Pulaski is representative of the level of competition...

He said he chose the place where he felt the most comfortable and then he got a big smile on his face and said that is why he chose Auburn.
