Gene Chizik speaks ... briefly

Hey everyone. The Head Coach spoke briefly with reporters this morning about Le Bowl D'Iron and what the team will be accomplishing during the next few months.

Here is an overview ...

  • On the game: ``There were some field-position issues that I wish we would have capitalized on more than we did. We had some chances in the second half that I wish we would have been able to capitalize on. Field-position issues at the end of the day, with special teams and things of that nature, that cost us some points."

  • On what Auburn will do between now and the bowl announcement: ``We'll really focus on academic world, not that we don't usually, and we're going to give our guys some time to heal up. They're beat up and bruised up. Guys were playing with all kinds of injuries. We'll give them an opportunity for their bodies to heal."

  • On his decision to play Drew Cole, who may have been eligible for a medical redshirt, against Alabama: ``We wanted to make sure that we played anybody and everybody that we thought could help us win that game ... that made sense. He's been getting healthier."

  • On his role in bowl selection: ``I'm worried about recruiting -- that's what I'm worried about right now. We're hitting the road asap."

  • He said recruits who attended the game, who still are on campus at this hour, were enthralled with the atmosphere.

Did anybody see the sideline reporter on CBS wearing the eye black during the UF/FSU game?

Finebaum was talking about it on the radio today. Apparently she did it as some sort of goofy tribute to Superman.

FSJ...I saw that with the Wolf on CBS.

It definitely straddled the line of objectivity and favoritism.

That said, who won't beat rooting against the Tide this week?

Good morning, Hotties. Wow! I can't believe Jay G has allowed the thread count to get this high.

Eddie, I was just about to say the same thing.

Hotties,

Have we considered an exit strategy should Jay G really be forever trapped in the bermuda triangle? We're gonna have to train another reporter, because I don't think there's anyone that is ready to step in and create a place as complete as Jay G has.Who's gonna wear that goofy hat in the press box? I'm scared.

morning.

Auburn Undercover is saying that sources in the know say it's Shreveport or Nashville. UGA & USC winning screwed up everything. dam those dawgs & cocks.

7:40 AM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

wouldn't "sources in the know" know which one it actually is. Throwing out multiple options sounds like educated guesses by a reporter who wants to appear to have a scoop.

7:43 AM
Blogger cincytiger said...

I say Nashville. Do we get a vote? If I were Nashville, I would want us.

7:45 AM

Blogger Scott M. Brannan said...

dunno PF. multiple sources in my head tell me the same thing. however, my sources want to remain anonymous. they also tell me GO GATAH!

7:47 AM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

PF- Not necessarily, Music City Bowl could be torn on who to select, but Independence knows they want us if we are available. This is the wackiest bowl scenario I think I've ever seen with the SEC.

BTW- Is the ACC the biggest joke or what? Last Saturday had to be one of the worst days for the ACC ever. To have it's two championship game teams completely owned pretty much by middle of the pack SEC teams is not good for the ACC at all.

7:47 AM
Blogger Scott M. Brannan said...

i vote Nashville too. a 3 hr drive for me is much better than 11!!!!

Wake - very nice job. If I'd thought of that, I don't know that I'd ever change it. EVER.

I said last night (to myself) that I didn't believe I'd be around for a 1,400 flip. Maybe I spoke too soon. Is 3+ flips on a single thread possible? I don't know, but as a professional I'm willing to try it.

7:59 AM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

no way in heck the bowls don't know exactly who they want by now, Eddie. Those guys have been evaluating and running numbers for months now. The decisions have been made.

Methink the "sources" are like those in Scotties head. Pay sites thrive on scoop. We've pretty much all narrowed it down to those two. Only Fox News smells more of hack reporting than stories like this.
