For your reading pleasure
Hey everyone. So I took a little time yesterday to pen a piece about how the SEC bowl situation has evolved this week. You may find it interesting because, as you'd expect from an Auburn beat writer, Les Tigres are discussed.
Please enjoy: Some of the best drama comes before bowl games
I'd like to see Auburn play Northwestern. I was really into Northwestern's 1994 renaissance, loved watching Pat Fitzgerald play linebacker, would love to interview head coach Pat Fitzgerald.
On the other hand, Wisconsin was popular in the Tate household Wednesday night.

W. Jet...
I've actually eaten at the Montgomery Farmer's Market place before too.. Several years ago.
I agree.. not spectacular.
AUFan - I'll call Bowl as soon as I can get away this afternoon. I ordered 20 with 14 committed at the time. I'm allowed 24, so I'll find out later today if they can modify my order. Of course, if all else fails, you and choco can always compete for them over a game of cornhole.
back to work
Heheh sounds like a deal - Choco just a word of warning, us old people may not be nimble but we have a lot of dirty tricks ( in other words the possibility of me cheating is great)
I'd be willing to bet if you called, you'd get more. Tell them to check you out on the HABOTN to confirm you aren't a broker.
I was really shocked to see how slow Low was on the report with the Uga/Peta thing. First letter was sent the day after he died, and the AJC (which he reads) was all over it.
Do all of our elected members of the senate and house suffer from Babs Boxer Entitlement Syndrome? Buncha prima donnas.
THT,
I have responded to your e-mail. I am interested to know if you, or anyone for that matter, has an insight on lodging in the Tampa area. I am not looking for the Chez Paree nor the Motel 6, but something in between like maybe the Hampton Inn or slightly above. I have never been to Tampa; therefore, I don't have a clue. I will need at least 2 rooms, since I will have my two care givers with me (the home wouldn't let me out without them) so I need a little help.
An unbiased jounalists take on the Outback Selection. What an idiot!
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/Video-Florida-State-s-Zebrie-Sanders-redefines-?urn=ncaaf,206179
No false start for this guy.
An idiot indeed PF.
IV I just got a room at the Extended Stay America within walking distance of Raymond James Stadium. It looks pretty good in the photos. Phone No (813) 873-2850
I have never stayed at one before but i will try this one.
I will say this one time. If you don't want to play in Shreveport, win more games.
Auburn started 5-0. Finished 7-5. The second half games don't count more than the first. We beat quality teams as did UGA and others. When you finish 7-5...you get what you get. We lucked out.
Thanks Digger, I am trying to imagine the old man of the blog and the dirty old man of the blog getting together. Them younguns had better watch out. We will show them a thing or two about how to be a real War Eagle.
That is if my pace maker will let me get that excited.
IV, I would love to see you try and keep up with this youngin' :)
Looking forward to meeting you, IV, and all the other Hotties. We could show them how to kick up ther heels if we still could.
I almost got tossed out of the Superdome in 2004, that takes talent.
Bravado and talent is wasted on the young.
I'm old for my age. All my single friends tell me so. Not sure if that counts for much.
Yea Digger, I agree brav-er what ever you said goes ditto for me.
IV/Digger just how old are y'all ... I have to be close with ya (62)! I think it's been posted before but too lazy to look ... see you in Tampa!
please tell me there's going to be a doctor, or at least a nurse, in section 232.
IV = 70, Digger = 75
The Montgomery Farmes Market is not very delicouso agreed, however "Farmers Market Cafe" is thebomb.com!
LOL ... gotta give ya one on that PF
I'm not a doc, but I am staying at the Holiday Inn Express.
AU Fan,
I will, let Digger speak for himself, but I am pushing 71 and you are just a youngster. Looking forward to meeting you and everyone else that shows up. WAR EAGLE!!!!
Who gets to pick the nurse uniform?
that'll work. Sean, the resident moron (where did that come from, anyway?), is in charge of making sure the geezers make it home alive.
Been a long time since I was one of the "kids"
I had post 232, so I get the tickets!
We don't need no stinking doctor in section 232 Snacks, but will you be there? I heard that you may let a little old thing called a honeymoon get in the way. Ha, real men go to the ball game no matter what she says. I better take that back, I couldn't have gotten away with it either back in the day. Would like to meet you Snacks, you are my man.
I am not saying this as an Auburn fan and I am trying to be as objective as possible but today as I sit here and listen to the Paul Slimebaum Radio Network I have come to the realization that the Alabama Fans are about as red as they come. Have you ever sat down and just listened to them? It is seriously comical.
BREAKING NEWS: Al Gore just ran past my office window wearing a hooded parka and yelled out (and I quote) "Damn global warming."
JD - agreed, but that chick that just called in wasn't a great AU fan example.
Sean was right on mine "75" me and Jack Benny stayed at 39 for 36 years. So the jump was huge for me.
Like I said before, I will have my caregivers with me, my 2 sons. No. 1 son is 48 and no. 2 is 36, they can take care of the old man thank you.
Norm, I agree. Tammy and Charles are the outlyers of The Auburn Family along with the people who refer to us as The Auburn Nation and The War Eagles. Those are two terrible examples and unfortunately for us they see the need to call into that show.
For those that asked:
(OL) Damien Robinson is off AU's radar. Not pursuing him.
The ones AU are pursuing hard for OL:
Eric Mack, Jeff Stone, John Cullen (juco),Brandon Moseley (juco) Rozell Gayden (juco)
for db: Mike Harris(juco), Bradley Roby, Darius Robinson, Robert Johnson, Eric Russell (juco)
Maybe one more WR.
If y'all keep listening to Slimebomb, you're going to take his AU audience into double digits.
JD - based off of your morning show calls, if you called into PF's show, it'd improve immensely. That, and provide a good and solid example of an AU fan.
Choco - I'm far from a regular listener to that show. Heck, I'm lucky if the 740 stream works regularly throughout the day for me. I just have a lot of busy work this afternoon so I'm only partially listening.
I won't say I never listen, but I try to avoid it. It's tough to do now that they've got him on both FM and AM here in Bammerham in the afternoon/evening. They really need to put something else on the AM sports station in that time slot, even if it's a national show.
Eric Mack
John Cullen
Ed Christian
Chad Slade
Shon Coleman
--Pretty solid group--
I don't think we're out on James Stone yet and I still think Dakota mosely will end up on the line.
How many Bama fans would be pulling for Auburn in the SEC Championship?
almost time to skeedaddle. I'll call Outback as soon as I get out the door and let y'all know when I get home.
THT
Zero.
Zip.
Nada.
I hope that wasn't mean.
LOL
That was very sweet and accurate.
I agree on the Paul Scumbag show. Only a handfull of Auburn fans call and they are the ones we don't claim. We are not represented properly. We should all boycot the show and see how he does.
IV,
I regret I will not be there. If I could somehow move the wedding up, so that it'd be outside of the 24 hour annulment window, I might be able to swing it. Some other time.
What if it was UT against Auburn? That would test their "who's the bigger rival?" arguments.
I have never listened to the Paul Finebaum show. Not for a second. I don't feel I've missed anything (except maybe Babs Dooley and Pat Dye- I like hearing their accents).
good afternoon Carmela
Of course, we could ask FSJ to poll his buddies about who they were for in the SECCG the times we've been there (2 against UT and 1 against UF).
Skip Holtz to ND? No freakin' way, right?
Here's what up with the moron/idiot. Some poster who went by Macho Grande...said the following. Auburn will never find success as long as Nick Saban is at Bama. For some reason that irritated me so I told him to go back to his forum over at Tidesports.com.
He took offense, said hey, Sean the Idiot...blah blah blah. He never came back. At least not under that handle.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Good afternoon M=B. How are things?
Good idea, Scott.
Okay Digger,
We are in the Extended Stay America, Tampa-Airport- Westshore Blvd. If that is the one you are in, maybe we can get together before the game or afterwards. I am so much looking forward to this trip. It has been many years since we had Harrell male bonding. No. 1 son lives here in Prattvegas and no. 2 lives in Hotlanta. So, no. 1 and I are going to leave early 12/31 and go to retrieve no. 2 in Jawja then head to Tampa, hopping to get there at some reasonable time Thursday night. Staying over Friday night, then will back step to Hotlanta and then home on 1/2/2010.
Man this HABOTN 232 section is going to be AUSOME!!
Ya'll are going to piss off Luv if you don't come up with a plan for Sugar Bowl viewing and respond to her soon.
we are hoping as well as hopping, dang puter.
Shugah Bowl viewing...?
after the outback bowl, to watch the infidels get beaten by Boise State.
got 4 more tix
Might have to add this guy to your OL target list, WTC... with borderline grades, might be a sign and place candidate.
Tristan Hardin, OL out of Erwin High in Birmingham, received visit from AU earlier this week. He could pick up offer with good test score.
Sorry... need to quote my source...
that was per Jeffrey Lee
THT, you're taunting me with the tickets...
Peter "Big Snacks" Frankenschmidt said...

Yeah! What PF said!
What about a plan for a Hottie gathering right before or right after the game? I will probably be at Bern's on the evening of Jan. 1, if they are open. Hopefully will be finished with dinner in time to catch the 2nd half of the Sugar Bowl, though.
We ought to give up on grass at Bryant Denny and go to field turf.
Either that or hire Auburn's turf dude...
Our field looks rough in these Super 6 games.
Leave it to the cow college to have a nice football field.
Am I the only one who can't go to the game? Man this sucks.
FSJ - do not give up on real grass. If the thought of an Aubie making the grass look good is too uncomfortable for your bammie friends, y'all can start your own Agronomy school ;-)
BUT DO NOT PUT FAKE GRASS IN B-D!!!
ok, here's the scoop.
HABOTNVILLE CITY LIMITS (during the Outback Bowl) are bounded on the South by Seats 1 in Rows PRS, on the East by Row S, on the North by Seats 10 in Rows PR, and Seat 4 in Row S, and on the West by Row P.
In non-surveyor talk... we have
Row P, Seats 1-10
Row R, Seats 1-10
Row S, Seats 1-4
(there is no Row Q)
HABOTNVILLE City Council also just annexed into HABOTNVILLE a small parcel of land in the Raymond James Stadium Press Box, where will reside the HABOTNVILLE Power Plant, one Jay G Tate.
Digger & IV,
THTJr (LGG Byron) and I stayed at that Extended Stay when Dolphins played Bucs during Ronnie and Carnell's rookie season. It was a fairly long walk to the stadium, but do-able. I don't remember much at all about the room, but it was VERY close to Roy's, one of my favorite restaurants.
ok, it's not like the Rapture occurred while I was driving home, cause I wouldn't be here. And there's not a new thread... what happened?
HOTTIE HOOOOOO!!!!
Hotttie Herrre
Carmela-Others arer too shy or afraid to ask, but who are and where are you?
It isnot for my purpose mind you, but for those on here that are sceered to ask.
Roy's is pretty decent. I've been to three of them now, and have never left upset (I'm a bit of a food snob, so I frequently leave restaurants upset).
The best was the media/friends & family night when the Atlanta store opened. Besides the fact that it was free and the I've not done five courses with wine pairings at another of their locations, the food came out as good as I've ever imagined the whole Hawaiian Fusion thing could be.
To whom is the "who are you, where you question posed". If it is a general question, asked of anyone willing to respond, I will. If it is posed to a specific individual, I will keep my mouth shut.
IV-it is directed at Carmela. Unless of course Carmel is you.
pretty sure that's at Carmela, since the post starts with her name....just trying to help :-)
I ain't Carmela, I promise. I have never looked as good as her avatar.
ooooh, a new wrinkle. Carmela could be IV. j-z, does IV play "dress up" on occasion?
oh hai everybody
I am Carmela and I am right here.
I have met IV. He's no young lady.
I am Spartacus.
don't be obtuse. The HABOTN has a crack team of cyber stalkers. They're creepy good.
Who are and where are you Peter?
Yeah Peter. Quite being so secretive. I'll bet your birth name isn't even Frankenbummer!!!
Did you call me obtuse? Thirty days in the hole. We'll have a barbecue and burn all those books, we will. Then I'll put you down with the Sodomites, and you'll be begging to come back. Nothing changes!
Don't turn this on me, young lady. I'm not the one being questioned here.
By obtuse, do you mean greater than 90 degrees?
Math humor FTW!
LEGO MAN sighting!!!
SO if UAT loses Saturday, will that make them the Ohio State of the SEC?
Will that make Saban the Bobby Cox of the SEC?
If anyone has diggerforAU's email address, please drop him a line and tell him to contact me via the email link on my blogger profile. Otherwise, I'll have no idea how to get the Outback Bowl ticket to him.
Ask that question on a call in show and see how quickly a caller brings AU into the conversation. It was just a question?
I will be watching the game Saturday in San Pelosi in a mixed crowd of Gator, Bammers, Corndogs and me.
Should be interesting.
I really hate tOSU. But they are my favorite team if they play UA-T.
I don't really know who to pull for in tonight's Oregon conflict. I'm open to suggestions.
It really irritates me when AM radio stations turn down their power in the evening. Sure, it's cool that you can be shooting across I-20 and pick up New York, St. Louis, Nashville, and Chicago, but when the local stations all the sudden can't be heard because some spanish station is bleeding over them, I get mad.
Looks like Mrs. Woods is going to get a revised prenup....
Prenup
Oregon. Gives a greater chance of LaGarrette Blount punching Terrel Pryor in the eye socket.
wouldn't anything signed once they are married be a postnup?
That's sound logic, PF. Oregon it is.
Good point Peter...but I suppose they are changing the original document so I guess they are keeping the lingo too.
Plus an Oregon win helps Boise's chances of getting in, lessening Iowa's chances of playing in a BCS bowl.
What do
AUFan365
Sean
Mytommyd
IV
Scott Chocolate
have in common? They all have email from me.
Cheating on your spouse makes you scum but if Mrs. Tiger had been the one beaten with a club this would have been a very different story. At least I think so.
That would be like taking a hammer to the Venus de Milo.
or maybe some other famous sculpture that has all its extremities ;-)
I gave J-Z plenty of time to answer Snack's question. He didn't, so I will. No I don't dress up on occasion; however, J-Z is quite cute in his evening gown and high heels. Ask Norm.
That's the best reason, yet, PF!
Tar Heel you are a good event planner.
THT,
Got the e-mail. The cavalry is on the way and in the nick of time.
IV....
I'm on a need to know basis...
and I don't need to know that. :-)
that's a visual I didn't care for. I'll refrain from cross-dressing jokes in the future.
Thanks, Carmela, but that statement might be a bit premature. I don't have my hotel or hockey tickets, yet!
THT,
You've got 10 seats across. HABOTN.com is 10 characters. Chest paint?
Excellent idea Peter.
Shirts and skins for hotties.
PF, you are on today! Keep this up and everyone might forgive you for not skipping out on your wedding.
With some of us in this group it may be better to tape the letters to our "walkers" and just push them out there>
Peter's getting married?
Congrats.
Dagnabit, missed Puppet Hour! AGAIN!!!
My advice to all HOTTIEs re: tonight's Civil War - forget your petty grievances against the Children of the Corn (ie Iowa fans). Pull for the Mighty Beavers tonight.
C'mon, they haven't been in the Rose Bowl since the LBJ administration. And their HC is a Bama grad who turned Mal Moore down flat when he was offered their HC job when Dennis bailed on them.
Go Beavers!!
I wonder how many beaver jokes this rowdy group will make?
Fighting Beavers
Okay, who is painting the dot on their belly?
Carmela, I think that was WTC's way of asking you to be his facebook friend.
wtc is a sly fella....
To avoid grossing everyone out, I'll be in one of the other rows.
Or maybe this is J-Zs way of asking me to be his Facebook friend.
HOTTIE HO! could also work on 10 seats. I'd make a great blank space.
Harrison is my only FB friend.
Negative GhostRider, the pattern is full.
Tar Heel does this mean you guys are going to paint yourselves?
um, NO!
But the old timey placards might work for us old timey Hotties.
Placards are more family friendly to
I knew J-Z would appear once the beaver joke comment came out. I'm just surprised he didn't appear with a beaver joke.
I feel like I am watching Top Gun again.
Body paint tends to hide things. Don't wimp out with placards. The people behind you won't be able to see.
Top Gun is one of those movies that I will stop and watch any time it's on TV, no matter how many times I've seen it...some others are The Godfather,Major League, Zoolander, Big, Patton, and National Lampoon's Vacation.
NINETEEN TICKETS in Outback Bowl HABOTN Section have been claimed.
FIVE TICKETS have not yet been claimed, and are available first come, first serve. If you wish to place a firm claim on any of the remaining 5 tickets in Section 232, please contact me via the email link in my blogger profile. Tickets are $80 each which includes shipping.
WARRRR EAGLE!!!
thanks FSJ...I don't think it's been mentioned very much.
Forget about the curve ball Ricky, give him the heater.
Out of curiosity checked StubHub and tix in that section are selling for $119 to $178 dollars, so not only do you get to be surrounded by Hotties you are getting a bargain!
WOW first day I really post on the site since it started and I manage to become a Thread Killer ... guess I better go back to obscurity
We're here for you AU365. It happens.
Thread's at supper, AUFan, not dead. Happens every day because Hotties won't eat dinner with their laptop like I do.
I figured was the hard sell to help ya get rid of your extra tix THT
Since MrsTHT won't be going, I've also booked the Extended Stay. Neither THTjr or I remember anything about it from our previous stay there. We assume that is a good thing.

digger - you should have email now and you should delete the above post with your email address in it.
Thanks!!!
Jay,
What's the scoop on Rollison?
Based on CGC's past explanation of things, I suspect "he's suspended for violation of team rules" is about all you'll get.
I'm ticketed on the Rollison Express. Does this mean I should rebook?
THT, you got email
Don't go to Al.com the mullets are spitting out their usual garbage about Rollison and the minor violations from back in May.
Why should they care. He isn't going to play until next year.
got it, digger. Thanks!
So Rollison suspended and we got in trouble.
Been a full non football day.
They care because they are scared and know we are on the fast track to being back. It's not going to take us 10+ years and 57.5 coaches.....the .5 is for Price since he never actually coached.
M=B they do seem a bit nervous and grasping for straws. I don't go there much any more the SOS gets on my nerves.
Not sure if any of you have seen this... I was hesitant to share, but it seems as though it has gotten pretty widespread.
It is a letter/article written by Terry Lathan to Ed Dyas and a few others who were unable to attend the Iron Bowl.
Enjoy!

It was a low key day. Alabama was suppose to dismantle Auburn. Their Heisman candidate had a national stage to take center spotlight. But something unexpected happened.
Our tailgate was a fun morning. We hosted many Bama friends who came by. The food was fabulous, the music was toe tapping, and the weather was perfect.
We went to our traditional "Tiger Walk" and cheered the team and coaches into the stadium- like gladiators into their arena knowing a hungry undefeated opponent was on the other side pacing and suiting up for a David and Goliath moment. But something unexpected happened.
The sea of orange filled the sun kissed stadium. Every seat was filled. Our Eagle,Tiger, flew around the tops of our heads and landed midfield The teams entered to thunderous applause, fanfare and frenzied fans. Bama fans wore stickers that said " Fear the shutout". But something unexpected happened.
Auburn, fueled by the fans and faith of spirit with hard work, threw everything they had at Alabama. And for 56 minutes Auburn prevailed. The score, the stats, the noise, the pride- For 56 minutes we owned it. But something unexpected happened.
Alabama put together a successful last minute drive and scored the go ahead points. The TV announcers loved the battle for ratings. No one in the stadium moved. But something unexpected happened.
The Alabama fans stayed and "Sabaned" their victory. Their band played. Their victory ended a perfect scheduled season. But something unexpected happened.
What possibly could be wrong? The Bama fans had suffered, sweated, cursed, paced and prayed for 56 torturous minutes and their team finally pulled it out and won. But what they saw next was not suppose to happen...either.
The Auburn family stayed. They were suppose to flee in defeat but alas the opposite happened. We stayed in our seats and waited for our team to walk off the field. 80,000 family members escorted them off with thunderous applause and chants of "It's great to be an Auburn Tiger". The recruits stayed and watched this family of ours lift up our team who served up a whole humble pie to #2 Bama.
It reminded me of the scene in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" when the Who's in Whoville gathered after their presents and decorations were missing but lifted their voices loudly anyway to share their gratitude and celebrations. For us it was about thankfulness, honor, and family. For 56 minutes we were fans, but as our team walked off the field for a few minutes we were all one family. It was a great feeling and we had not even won the game...on the scoreboard. I will never forget that moment.
We walked out of the stadium chanting AU cheers down the ramps. Alabama fans were quiet and shocked. Their Heisman candidate was disposed of. Their defense was embarrassed. Their haughtiness was silent.
I have not mentioned the crudeness and ugliness that I witnessed or was a part of from Alabama fans during the game. Their reputation for being rude fans lived on-not pulling for their team and being good fans but being jerks to others- even to children. However after the game they were silent. Eerily quiet. One would have thought they lost the game. The lack of the cries of "Roll Tide" was noticeably absent.
But something happened. Auburn continued to make us proud, played their hearts out, made idiots out of the sports announcers who proclaimed earlier this was a waste to play, and silenced the visiting fans.
Yes, something happened. Auburn won everything but the scoreboard. This was not suppose to happen!!! Alabama was not suppose to allow this!! It was just Auburn for goodness sakes, right?? Wrong.
Not a perfect day but an AUsome day. And with already picking up some of the top recruits in the nation (#8 class in the nation), a new coaching staff that have eyes of the tiger, and an AU family ready to support them all, we only have one question- when does the 2010 season start?
War Eagle!
Thanks for sharing, DMiller. That was superb. It is great to be an Auburn Tiger!!!
Otto the Orange, errr,Mark Mangino is out at Kansas. Think Tubs will take that job? Me neither.
Great post D. Miller. WDE
The Toomers Corner event as a "game day simulation" seems rather bogus to me. I recall almost anything was an excuse to roll Toomers, including such things as the end of finals or even just a good Saturday night.
