All we have are the embers

Hey everyone. Our 100-minute Video Campfire® has ended. I'd say it was a success.

We had approximately 500 unique viewers. We averaged 83 viewers at any given moment. I was aiming for 40 viewers total, so I'd say that qualifies as a success.

What we need to do now is make suggestions on how to improve it.

Here are some things we discussed in the Campfire. Add more in the comments section and I'll post 'em here.

*Stop the refresh on the main blog because it messes up the stream.
*Images/video/links can't be posted in the chat.
*(Some) questions gathered before the VC begins.
*"Tape" the segment for later playback (**I have this one solved already.**)

IN OTHER NEWS:
Here's what the Outback Bowl had to say via Twitter -- ``ESPN announced that the Outback Bowl overtime thriller with the Wildcats and Tigers posted a 4.06 national television rating. This is a 32% increase from last year's game. Thanks for watching this instant classic!"

Any of my Atlanta Hotties want to go to the Cheyenne Grille Thursday for the Bama loss? It's a Bama bar in town, and I know the owners well. I have already told them my plan was to come in wearing Texas gear and start a huge brawl. The are redesigning the bar anyway!

CH=B, to add to what you were saying last night about bammers...My physical therapist asked me how my New Year's was. I told it was good and that I went to the Outback Bowl. She said that I must be an Auburn fan. She said she didn't really know anything about football, so I assumed that meant she really didn't care either. Later, she told me she was an Alabama fan and that she was going to big party. I said, "I thought you didn't know anything about football..." So, then I assumed that she must be an alum. Wrong again! She went to Samford.

I was glad the coaches finally admitted that Todd's arm was shot in mid-season. I don't know who they thought they were fooling by denying it; certainly not the Hotties.

I'm kinda ambivalent about the uat game. It might be better for Auburn if they go ahead and win. It is much easier to get to the top than to stay on top. The uat players and coaches won't work as hard over the next year if they win. If they fall just short of their goal, they'll be much more motivated.

But when it comes down to game time, I'm sure I'll be yelling for Texas.

Did you notice that he said that Jon Solomon is the first reporter to ever ask him about this. The man invented 5 national championships in 1986 and not one reporter in Alabama ever thought to ask him about it.

So maybe a goal in life should be to become the SID at Alabama. Then I would just say that these early national championships don't count.

Problem solved?

I'm pretty sure if you read the Auburn media guide they claim championships in 1983, 1993, & 2004.

Just sayin.

And for the record...the 1941 is not legit.

The others are.

Of course we got screwed in 1977 & 1966 so it evens out.

FSJ- I'm pretty sure we don't.

FSJ - What about 1964 when they lost the bowl game? Kinda taints that one, no?

1:09 PM
Blogger E-Bro said...

FSJ...the difference is that most Auburn fans don't make a similar claim. We don't wear shirts that say, "Got 4?".

Basically, we don't try to shove it down anybody's throat.

Just sayin'.

Does Bryant-Denny have 12 flags flying to show all its national championships or 7?

1:10 PM

Hate to do this to you Eddie..

but page 191, 192, & 193 of the most recent media guide on the Auburn website claims them.

coosa,

In 1964 they awarded them before the bowl game..right?

if so...doesn't taint it at all.

Bryant Denny has 12 flags...

FSJ...my point emphasized. Jordan-Hare only flies a National Championship flag for 1957.

I mean, the point is: what's wrong with seven national championships?

Why claim another five and act like they're all legit?

The real bad thing about Bama traveling to Pasadena is that most are flying out through Atlanta-Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. I noticed a distinct stench of scum over the past week her in the ATL. Must be from the cousin-humpers traveling through here!

There is a link to the media guide only claiming 1957 a "National Championship" in any type of grand fashion. It simply lists those that awarded us the MNC, not claim them.

Alabama claims them, just look at the bama media guide

http://www.rolltide.com/promotions/2009-m-footbl-guide.html

Here is a link to the bama media guide claiming / misleading the National Titles.

Like someone said previous, there is 1 national title banner at the stadium for Auburn, and how many for bama...enough said.

The 12 National Titles is the biggest crock of crap ever manufactured.

1:25 PM
Blogger No One said...

What's wrong with claiming something that isn't rightly theirs? The 12 mythical NC's is really the only thing most Bama fans have going for them. They don't *really* care about any other Bama sport, and they sure as hell don't care about the academics of the school. For us Auburn people, we care about the school as a whole and the people who share the love of our School and the people who love it as well. I think that the Hotties proved that beyond a doubt at the Outback Bowl. Thanks again THT, and here's hoping you get better soon!

FSJ, you don't know the Bama fans I have met. I will say that the one's who graduated from UAT are more tolerable than those who have not.

I've been hearing national championship talk for 40 years. Blah. Blah. Blah. I don't care what the number is.

This is what I want:

1. An Auburn national championship soon.
2. A Texas national championship even sooner.

IV, can you do something about the snow and sleet headed our way tomorrow?!? Can't y'all keep it over there in P'ville???

1:31 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

FSJ has a valid point...if Auburn wasn't a big football school, I doubt there would be a Hottie nation like this. All Auburn Grads love their school equally as Alabama grads. All non-Auburn / non-Bama grads that go to football games, mainly only care about the sports. Not all, but a majority of them. The difference between Auburn and Bama in that respect is that of all Auburn fans, there is probably a significant amount of Auburn fans that are also graduates, where is probably only 55-60% if that on the Bama side.

Uh..I think Eddie took care of that IV.

For him to say that Bama fans don't care about the academics or the school is ridiculous.

There's not a bit of difference between Alabama and Auburn fans except the colors they wear. We both have grads, fans that didn't attend, rednecks, idiots..and so on.

1:37 PM

E-Bro- Who is handing them out to Ole Miss...the KKK Press?

Sheeps and goats, FSJ.

Well, I better clarify for you since for some of your ilk that would be a double-date.

Washed and unwashed.

There's a difference!

1:38 PM

I'm angry as hell, but it has nothing to do with who claims what championship.

1:40 PM
Blogger E-Bro said...

Ole Miss claims they won official national championships in 1959, 1960, and 1962?

Here are the media outlets who agreed:

Berryman, Billingsley, Dunkel, DeVold, Football Research, FW, National Championship Foundation, Williamson, and Litkenhous.

What?

1:41 PM
Blogger No One said...

FSJ, to make my point, and maybe I am painting with a broad brush, but I have met numerous Bama fans who a) don't follow any sport other than football, b) don't care whether the football players graduate or go pro, and c) have never been to Tuscaloosa much less an Alabama football game. Each and every one of them lay claim to 12 NC's and love the Bear as if he were still alive.

As far as Auburn being a big football school, and fostering love of the University via athletics, I would dare say that part is true to some extent. But I have also known many Auburn people who have no real care for athletics, but love the school and town just the same.

Thanks for having my back IV!

Talk on FSJ, you haven't shown any proof of what you spout. I wouldn't go on an Alabama blog and spout that crap. In fact I wouldn't go on an Alabama blog for any reason. You yourself said that you prefer being on an Auburn blog and even enumerated the reasons. Some having to do with the character of those on the Bama blogs. If you are going to stay here and read Auburn comments, then you should expect what Gaines and others believe from experience about their association with some Bama fans. If you want to proceed with this kind of garbage, I suggest that you might try AL.com.
