Hey everyone. Auburn landed another massive commitment today when 315-pound offensive lineman Eric Mack committed to play football at Auburn. We know this because our friends at AuburnUndercover.com, AuburnSports.com and ITAT say so.
Six months ago, the South Carolina native said he'd play for the Gamecocks.
He broke that pledge yesterday.
Now he says he's with the Tigers -- and that's final. Mack, a four-star prospect according to Rivals.com and Scout.com, adds significant allure to coach Gene Chizik's recruiting class. Auburn now has commitments from two major OL recruits (Shon Coleman and Ed Christian) and signed a pair of junior-college guys (Roszell Gayden and Brandon Mosley) last month.
There could be aftershocks from this development. Auburn is working against the Gamecocks for the nation's No. 1 tailback, Marcus Lattimore. He lives in Duncan, S.C. Will Mack's decision affect Lattimore's thinking?
We'll find out soon.
Love the headline!
ReplyDeleteBOOM
ReplyDeleteSorry the conflicting edits warning made me double post...
ReplyDelete(Heard on another board)
ReplyDeleteBig Mack Attack?
Boom
ReplyDeleteAnyone want to head over to McD's and get a Big Mac to celebrate?
ReplyDeleteNorm gets credit for "Mack Truck."
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna go listen to some Kris Kross now.
ReplyDeleteThat is great news on the Mack commitment!! Now to get Lattimore...wow... that would be one strong class...
ReplyDeleteThanks for this great news, JGT!
ReplyDeleteYeah!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAuburn Football Saturdays are 'bout to get Mack Truck Tough!
ReplyDelete'Bout to board a plane. Later.
Auburn and LSU face off tonight for the battle of the defeateds.
ReplyDeleteOnly one will remain winless.
Are we not counting Shon Coleman as a major OL recruit?
ReplyDeleteGotta go get my umbrella...it's raining 'cruits!!!
ReplyDeleteI am starting to seriously doubt my mom's recruiting inside information.
ReplyDeleteKriss Kross'll make you
ReplyDeleteGreat news! Keep 'em coming Coach Chizik. War Eagle!
ReplyDeleteAnd the beat goes on.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Mack for joining the Auburn Family.
A big Mack is headed to Auburn!
ReplyDeletePlease stand and sing:
It's rainin' 'cruits--hallelujah!
Whatever, I totally coined "Mack Truck" 5 mins ago.
ReplyDeleteThe Mac(k) daddy'll make you...
ReplyDelete...jump, jump!
ReplyDeleteIs he the Mack Daddy or the Daddy Mack?
I like "The Mack Attack"
ReplyDeleteHow high can you go Chizik; he said straight to the top
So many songs...so little time!
ReplyDeleteBack to work...
Beano, I'll had Coleman.
ReplyDeleteMy mistake. I'm on a teleconference.
Spurrier better lock us his wife & children or Chiz may well steal them away from Columbia too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWDE!
Why did Shurburtt deem it necessary to add the "surprisingly" qualifier to his article....jerk
ReplyDeleteBecause he wrote an article two days ago saying that Auburn was out of it and now he can't look like he didn't know what was going on. He was the main guy that said Mack was firmed up for good.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Ed Christian. He's a pretty major OL prospect too (four stars), according to my Mom.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but what does your side girl think of him? Is she trying to get him to go to USC?
ReplyDeleteFor the first time in quite a while I'm beginning feel like Auburn might be cheating in recruiting. And I gotta tell ya, it feels great!!!!
ReplyDeleteCute kid JC.
ReplyDeleteComm'r...that's not what she told me :)
Any relation to Kendall Mack?
ReplyDeleteman oh man, big commitment!
ReplyDeleteI think Mack, Coleman, Christian, and Gayden make for 4 EXCELLENT big men!!! I don't think there's a better OL batch in the nation!!!
OT - Shon Coleman (5*)
ReplyDeleteOT - Royzell Gayden (4*)
OT - Ed Christian (4*)
OL - Brandon Mosely (4*)
OG - Eric Mack (4*)
OL - Chad SLade (3*)
OL - Dakota Mosey (3*)
I'd say this is a pretty dadgum good OL class. What say ye?
Man, someone get Lattimore that list D. Miller just posted. Heck, I could rush for 1,000 behind that line!!!
ReplyDeleteComm'r to answer you question from the previous post; yes Reed is highly regarded as a WR, but at the AAG he practiced and played DB and was outstadning. I think Rivals even moved him from a WR to an athlete. So I say lets add Ambles to the back of the "Mack Truck" and ride out.
ReplyDeleteTrooper also visited Markeith Ambles yesterday, and reportedly, the visit went extremely well...
ReplyDeleteRumors swirling about a possible commitment, as mentioned earlier by a couple other hotties... but I haven't seen or heard anything to make me get too antsy about it happening.
If Ambles were to commit, that would be a huge boost to the ratings as well as shore up a position where we may have some NQs.
ReplyDeleteIt's all rampant rumors right now...
ReplyDeleteWelcome to big time recruiting.
ReplyDeleteI would just like to leave my condolences for the Ole Ball Coach. Sorry for the kick in the nads.
ReplyDeleteSave it, Steve. He may need that sympathy even more in a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteWe have no problem at WR even if a couple of the recruits are NQs, but adding a 5 star receiver could never be considered a bad thing. I have been wondering if they would shift a receiver or two to defense. My latest count was that we will have around 13 WRs with the four we have in this class.
ReplyDeleteIn a couple of weeks it may be a eulogy.
ReplyDeleteI think Reed will be moved to CB irregardless of what happens with Ambles.
ReplyDeleteI know it's not a word but I love to say irregardless. It's my own way of poking fun at the walmartians.
Ed Christian has been changed to a 3* so he won't be able to play as good as he would have yesterday.
ReplyDeleteJason, bite your tongue. I would be EXTREMELY disappointed if we found out Chiz and Co. were cheating.
ReplyDeleteBTW, LOVE your avatar! She's a cutie and those are some sweet glasses!
ReplyDeleteJason, if Auburn is cheating there is only one thing to do. We would have to fire the coaches, sit through the probation, and start over again. That isn't something that would excite me.
ReplyDeleteSteve where did you hear that Ed was moved to a 3*?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely good news on Mack. This recruiting class is getting better and Better.
ReplyDeleteHowever on the down side. My 22 year streak of never being stung by a bee/bitten by a wasp just came to an end. Those boogers hurt.
Man, wasps are the worst.
ReplyDeleteT-Zac's recent tweet: shoutout to big Eric Mack welcome to the family War Eagle
ReplyDeleteI had never been stung by a wasp until a couple of years ago when I was mowing the yard. I was listening to my ipod, but I know I screamed like a girl. OMG did it hurt!!!!
ReplyDeleteHolla
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't a whole lot of fun, but wasn't as bad as I had always imagined it.
ReplyDeleteKinda made me laugh because a wasps main defense mechanism is biting people. But if they wouldn't bite anyone who came near them, we wouldn't always be trying to kill them.
Jay G, if I wanted to contact you privately, how would I do that?
ReplyDeleteWasps are not my friends. I'm on worse terms with Yellowjackets. I ran over an underground hive with my lawnmower years ago and got stung 27 times before I was able to get away. The next night I waited quietly for them to return to their home then poured gas down the hole and lit those jokers up.
ReplyDeleteBee stings aren't bad at all, but that wasp was a killer!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the Family Big Mack.
ReplyDeleteBest of Luck Tim Hawthorne.
Get well soon D. Bates (impressive young man, sook his hand after the TN win, he is a winner.)
Since I am in such a good mood, Best wishes to all the hotties, in whatever you are pursuing today.
Norm, yikes! I can't imagine being stung that many times!!! Their payback was definitely a bi***!
ReplyDeleteI don't say "Woot!" often, but when I do it's when Auburn gets a big-time commitment.
ReplyDeleteOh, to have video of the dance Norm did getting away....
ReplyDeleteNothing's worse than a big ol' red wasp.
ReplyDeleteWow ...the star counts are high, the 40 times are low .....and these coaches are filling all of the needs. That's impressive and all you can ask for.
ReplyDeleteNow just follow this up in 2011 with another class like this, then give it 2-3 years and we better be serious contenders again.
When about 11 years old I got tackled into a juniper bush and stung 3 times by red wasps. I ran a fever for 2 days. Now I'm allergic to such and must get Benedryl immediately if stung.
ReplyDeleteWasps suck. A single sting from a wasps to me is worse than a single sting from a yellowjacket. Now a whole hive is a different story. I went 31yrs before ever being stung by a wasps. I was minding my own business cutting the grass and the sucker came out of nowhere and got me on the leg. It was itchy and swollen for days. Then two weeks later I was trimming the hedges and one got me on the stomach. You want to talk about pain. I hope to go another 31yrs.
ReplyDeleteehyou - if it existed, I'd love to see it too. I have no doubt it was quite comical to an uninterested party. Now, this many years removed, I'm sure I could laugh at it too.
ReplyDeleteNorm once had an awkward moment on the dance floor -- 1977 through 2003.
ReplyDeleteHoopie, if my wife gets stung by any flying bug we have to go to the hospital. Yet, she continuously waves her arms around like a crazy woman every time she sees a bee. I try to tell her to be calm. It's like she is asking for it.
ReplyDeleteThe worst bite/sting from a bug is from what I call a "cow" ant. The big red velvety(?) ants. They are called cow ants for a reason.

ReplyDeleteDon't know if that will work, but is so this guy is going to be a beast.
Just polished off two big macs for Eric Mack Day.
ReplyDeleteI had an allergic reaction to a yellow jacket sting when I was in 5th grade. Boy did that hurt. Ran a fever and my foot swelled up for a couple of days. I have been stung many times since, but I always take Benadryl and nothing close to that has happened. Benadryl is magic.
ReplyDeleteJet - that's just not true. All of my moves on the dance floor are smooth and polished. Just like Ted Striker.
ReplyDeleteI love Big Macs. I used to have them all the time. I have had maybe three of them since college. Curse you grown up world, with your spouses and coworkers who refuse to eat at McDonald's!
ReplyDeleteFRANK SANDERS!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big McDonald's guy, and don't care for Big Mac's but I did have McD's in Korea... and it was awesome. But I was sad to see no Big Mac's
ReplyDeletei had Chick-fil-A today. yummy. they have cherry coke too. what a delish combo!
ReplyDelete... and when there was no meat, we ate fowl and when there was no fowl, we ate crawdad and when there was no crawdad to be found, we ate sand.
ReplyDeleteYou ate what?
We ate sand.
WE ATE THE TOYS EDDIE!!!!
ReplyDeleteEddie Murphy anyone??
Commish - Son, you got a panty on your head.
ReplyDeleteHow tall is Tim Hawthorne?
ReplyDeleteIsn't he too tall to be a skill position player for a Terry Bowden coached team?
BEASLEY!
ReplyDeleteHELLO KENNESAW GEORGIA!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLUV: jgtate@gannett.com
ReplyDeleteLet the conspiracy talk continue today.
ReplyDeleteRivals is dropping Ed Christian from a 4 star to a 3 star. They raising Jake Holland to a 4 star from a 3 star. By doing that, guess who stays right ahead of AU in the rankings?
JGT, thanks for helping to to make the Beasley post happen. THT would be proud.
ReplyDeleteHow does a kid lose stars at this point? Did he play poorly in one of the all star games? I have never understood this phenomenon.
ReplyDeleteThat's ridiculous, wtc.
ReplyDeleteLane Kiffin Sewage Center coming to Knoxville?
ReplyDeleteHe played inthe GA north-south all star game and did pretty well, according to what I read.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how that happens on Rivals. He is the 1st tackle listed on the list tha gets the 3 star.
some folks up here have WAY too much time on their hands.
ReplyDeleteChanging grades at this point sucks.
ReplyDeleteRivals is staffed by witches....and what do we do to witches?
ReplyDeleteThey added one star to Shon Coleman, so I guess the people at Rivals figured they had to take one away from Auburn somewhere else? I don't get it.
ReplyDelete"I'm hitting switches on *witches like I be fixed with hydraulics."
ReplyDelete-Tupac
I'm going to make this a new thread. It's worth it to me.
ReplyDeletego on with your bad thread-makin' self!
ReplyDeleteWell, we keep hearing about people gaining stars as the All Star games and such are played. Doesn't it make sense that there are only so many stars to go around already, and peops can also lose stars if they aren't as impressive?
ReplyDeleteI mean, wait, no, yeah Auburn is getting screwed by the biased idiots at the recruiting sites!
That's a lot of warning for a new thread. I imagine it will be a battle of the F5's to see who gets there first.
ReplyDeleteBATTLE ON MJT!
ReplyDeleteYou will lose, durden!
ReplyDeleteBURN THEM!!!
ReplyDeleteOld Thread Down.
