Hawthorne resurfaces

Hey everyone. This isn't exactly huge news, but I find it interesting.

Tim Hawthorne, the former Auburn wideout, has enrolled at North Alabama and plans to play football there for former Auburn coach Terry Bowden next fall.

Hawthorne graduated in December with a degree in public administration. Days before that, he informed Auburn coaches of his desire to leave the football team. The Homewood native still has one season of eligibility remaining, though, and now you know how he'll spend it.

``When we talked, he was pondering that," coach Gene Chizik said. ``That was something that was a possibility for him. He has graduated, so he’s free to basically go wherever he wants to go if he wants to play another year. We wish him the best if that’s what he chooses to do."

  1. Also, we believe Daren Bates underwent surgery on Monday to repair a shoulder injury suffered during the season.

  2. Jay,
Do you think Tim just thought he would get more playing time at UNA or was he disgruntled about something?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Couldn't have been from all those hits he laid on unsuspecting ball carriers, could it, Jay G?

Do they expect a full recovery?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Dang...played all those snaps with a bum shoulder...heckuva first season for the freshman.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Cincy, in my opinion - which doesn't mean a whole lot because it's certainly not an informed one - but maybe he was disgruntled because he wasn't getting much playing time.

  6. I wish Tim the best with Tot at UNA. Say this for Terry, he's doing a good job being the halfway house for displaced SEC players. This should translate into conference victories.

  7. Three sporting(ish) events going on near(ish) me during my birthday weekend: Pro Bowl, Herschel Walker's MMA debut, and 24 Hours of Daytona. Any opinions on which I should attend? I'm thinking I'm leaning towards the 24 hours.

  8. It's YOUR bday, PF, YOU decide! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Well Pete, you couldn't go wrong at any of em, but I'd have to pick the Pro Bowl.

The best ticket in ATL right now is the Hawks...and I hate the NBA.

    ReplyDelete
  10. i wish the best to TH. too bad he never really blossomed at AU the way we all thought he would.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'd have to concur with Seanzie cuz I don't like fighting or car racing. But, it's your bday!

    ReplyDelete
  12. i can't get the lyrics "Return of the Mack....Return of the Mack....Return of the Mack....You know that I'll be back!" outta my head now. ha.

  13. So my friends showed me this awesome music video called "Colonel Reb is Cryin" and the song has been stuck in my head for about 16 hours now.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Colonel Reb is from, what, 2007?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yeah it's a bit older...but still hilarious...nice rip on Coach O in there.

    ReplyDelete
  16. That vid is awesome Seanzie.

I would probably go 24 hours, I've always wanted to go. Pro Bowl doesn't really interest me. The Strikeforce fight wouldn't be bad either. I still can't believe Herschel is going to fight at the grand age of 58.

  17. Anybody know if Mack is supposed to announce his commitment today? I read somewhere last night that he was announcing Wednesday at 11am...???

  18. Atlanta Hotties that want to support Haiti, but can't figure out how, head out to the downtown Mellow Mushroom on Tuesday (Jan 26). They're donating all revenues from that day to a Hatian hospital that was pretty affected by the quakes. Help by eating and drinking.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes today at 12/11 central Mack is announcing.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sup, Cartoon Hottie looks to be ravishing as always.

  21. "halfway house for displaced SEC players"

Nice, Seanzie! Hope Tim does well there. He doesn't have fond memories at Auburn, but at least he did get his degree.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That's the same gal KMO used here, right?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I hear Lemonier made his decisions 2 weeks ago which would have been the time he was at the Under Armour All American Game with all those Auburn commitments .
Miller, wtc, and wtc's mom all say he is an Auburn Tiger!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm ready for 2/3

    ReplyDelete
  25. Do you think Stone narrowing his decision to Auburn/Alabama, instigated Mack's decision to today? Coaches need to know if they have scholarships available.

    ReplyDelete
  26. So did Bates hurt his shoulder turning to the student section after every play trying to pump them up?

  27. ESPN updated rankings. Auburn #5.

  29. W-2 came in today...it's always depressing because it's like a line item breakdown of what you don't make.

    ReplyDelete
  30. PF, that's great that the Mellow Mushroom is stepping up like that. Too bad more places of business don't do that.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Best wishes to Tim.

I'm the market for a Mack Truck. Anyone know where you can find one?

I will be in transit in a little bit, so you kids have some interesting posts for me to peruse when I arrive in O'lando.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I hope it's warm for you, Jet. I'm tired of being cold.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I;m off to play for the day. Looking forward to reading all kinds of good news when I get back! Have an awesome day everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Weather is nice down here Jet, 60's and 70's everyday.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It's 60 in Atlanta yesterday and today...a nice change from the 29 and 32s from a couple of weeks ago.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed Jay's previous headline about USC's recruits being AU property. It inspired images of Spurrier throwing the visor and cussing like a sailor. LOL variety humor.

Sing it with us, Ole Ball Coach: You down with OPP?

  37. Tim's father worked for State Farm, right? I'm trying to remember but he was the kid who committed to Auburn over Bama and Bama fans threatened to boycott his fathers company.

Best of luck to Tim. He went through alot during his time at Auburn.

  38. G, I don't know KMO, but I looked for ever to find this pic. She is mine so everyone back off!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. You can look but no touching.

    ReplyDelete
  40. And the only reason CH=B had to look forever was because I was offended by the pic he really wanted to use. It's all my fault, right CH=B? ;-)

  41. yet LUv, but I have now found my dream girl. So, thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well actually she is the 5th girl in my life. I have a wife, daughter and two female dogs. I'm not sure but based on my luck my fish are probably female as well.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The other was just "side girl" material. Isn't that right Comm'r?

    ReplyDelete
  44. T-42 minutes before our next commit.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Good morning Hotties. Sounds like good news last night and this am. Good luck Tim I wish you the best next year and the rest of your life.

    ReplyDelete
  46. TH's career does make you want to pause and take a deep breath, and not get too giddy regarding recruiting.

Nah, I think I'll still run in circles and scream like my daughters if Mack and Lat sign.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Also rumors are that Trooper visited Ambles yesterday. I say take a chance on the kid and move Reed to DB. We could use more DB's and most say he looked like a beast/natural at the position.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Fantasy side girls are the best (and only) kind for us happily married guys, CHB.

I like to think of "side girls" with a more expansive perspective. For instance, all of USC's recruits = AU "side girls"

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm not sure we need Ambles, even if we moved Reed to CB. We're pretty stacked at WR.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Sensi,
I think it more about status and bragging rights regarding recruiting class rank than a real need

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm a big proponent of recruiting quality depth to fill needs, not recruit kids with the intention of winning the beauty pageant.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I hope that's not the case.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Kinda like the 932 LB's UAT has?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Well said Luv, well said.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm with you, Seanzie.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm not saying I agree with the idea of recruiting for sizzle only, just saying it could be a reason.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hottie Ho! I just noticed I'll be incarcerated on NSD. I won't be able to celebrate real-time with the Hotties :-(

Will Daren Bates miss spring practice and be ready for fall practice? Or is he "day by day"?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Although, Richardson doesn't seem like he's going to make it to campus so I could totally see Ambles taking that spot.

    ReplyDelete
  59. See Jay G's 8:19 post

    ReplyDelete
  60. The thing that is bad for guys like Dixon and Richardson is the SEC basically put the foot down on sign and place...so they have to live up to their part of the bargain or they're out.

    ReplyDelete
  61. CHB: Isn't Reed way too highly regarded as a WR to move to DB? Can't imagine the kid who's had all the smoke blown up the backside seeing that as kosher.

    Everybody is confirming now.

    Welcome to Auburn, Eric.
