Nuggets from The Football Coach
Hey everyone. Gene Chizik stopped by for a minutes to speak with reporters about various issues related to football.
Here's a basic rundown.
Here's a basic rundown.
- DE Cameron Henderson is off the team. He is not in school. That's a wrap. To make a nebulous story clear, he became cross-ways of the coaching staff last summer and his road to redemption, as it were, was mighty narrow.
- LB Spencer Pybus, LB Adam Herring and OT Vance Smith will not return to the field. Ever. They have been dealing with chronic medical issues. ``Those are three great, great kids who love football," Chizik said. ``You have to look at what your quality of life is going to be 30 years from now. Medically, it was their decision to stop playing."
- Chizik said he has not been contacted by Louisiana Tech or any other school regarding offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn. A few LTU websites reported that Malzahn was interviewing there today, but he's attending the Auburn-Kentucky basketball game.
- Chizik on his staff: ``I've talked to all of our assistant coaches. My goal is being able to keep all of our coaching staff in tact. There has been no official contact that I know about. I fully anticipate having our staff fully back together."
- Chizik said S Aairon Savage has applied for a sixth season of eligibility. He has missed the past two years because of leg injuries. Former DL Tez Doolittle made the same appeal for the same problems two years ago and was granted the sixth season. He found out in March.

hmm...109
Norm, you've got a way with a flip.
way to go Norm!
i'm still thinking about my math
I happened to hear a interview with Kiffin on the Jim Rome show this week, that guy is pure slimeball.
I was really disappointed in Rome for not hammering him, as much as I don't care for the guy he normally will grill someone when they deserve it, and often times when they don't.
Jet, unless I'm sick, I'm on the same schedule.
I shave once a week... maybe...
“Yes, I did call recruits to clear up any questions they had,” Orgeron said without identifying the players and declining to answer how many he reached. “In my knowledge, I followed the rules correctly.”

So your 10 year reunion was in '92?
Wow! You guys graduated HS before I turned 2. geezers...
Expect no commits this weekend. I doubt Whitaker commits with an offical visit to UGA next week. I would like to see Jones commit, but I think he holds out for a couple of more weeks.
WTC ...
Is this you talkin', or is it Mom?
Dmiller-You are about to be defriended. i graduated in 1980. i knew you were young when my daughter and your sister are freshmen at AU.
Miller, you're a punk.
Pooey, I wanted to hear commitments from this weekend.
I'm a man. i speak for myself. you want a piece of me, come on. leave my mom out of it.
Somebody check Miller's ID, see if he's old enough to be online.
I read the book Meat Market a few weeks ago..
I'm not surprised by anything Crazy Ed Orgeron does.
There is 11 years difference between me and my sister...
I know, WTC. You're a man. You're 50.
Boy do I feel old - graduated in 1977 at 17
We may get an announcement that the Fisher kid is confirmaing that he is walking on at AU.
And I am a woman - I'm 50!
D. Your a geezer to me.
Anyone watching the Colts - Ravens?
I think I am younger than you and I am not 50. i know it is hard to believe I can look like this in so few years, but it is a gift.
Do they still feel good about Whitaker? What about Shon Coleman? Is he still a "soft"?
I'm holding out hope that Whitaker will cancel his visit to UGA next weekend...
I think it is feasible that we get commitments, just not ones that are made public...
The difference ... WTC looks 55, you look 35. It's that "kept woman" bidness that suits you well. WTC looks beaten down by all the troubles in life ... some of them caused by sofas.
There is a football game on?
I also want them to firm up Coleman's commitment so that he cancels his Ole Miss visit.
Cincy, I graduated in 1976.
I'm watching the Colt/Ravens. Ravens keep turning over the turnovers!
That sofa is comfortable. I can tell you wish you had the accumen to get such a bargain on a beautiful sofa.
I don't look a day over 48.
Wake... enough... no calling me a geezer... I get that enough from my sister.
Kathy-That is what rivals wants to call some guys that are visiting other schools. I think he is firm to AU. he just says he has never been to visit other schools and since he committed veyr early. he wanteed to at least take a few trips. I wil be VEY surprised if he signs anywhere but AU.
Would you bet your sofa on it, WTC?
DMiller-there may be 11 years difference beween you and your sis, but she is still a future roomy with my DAUGHTER.
You like that sofa don't you. Miss Dot needs me to help get high quality stuff in her store. I have an eye for it.
Yes I would bet the sofa on it.
I see if I can get you hired as a sofa consultant.
You could have had her when you were very young for all i know...
I feel like the outsider here, Norm and Jet went to school together, WTC is linked to them somehow, D's sister and WTC's daughter are rooming together, my closest tie is I think I may have known the girl that was in CHB's avatar.
Thanks, Jet. I do like this "kept woman" bidness :)
Can't wait for y'all to see my new sofa!!
No outsiders wake, one big happy HABOTN family
Jet-you know I have a chair in that appartment that has a very similar beginning and ending.
It is a strange, small world when you think of it...
I mean, you have lunch with a guy one day, and the next day you find out the his daughter is your sister's future roommate.... kinda weird...
Wake ...
WTC's lovely daughter (in spite of her father) and my son, ElTurbo, went to school together.
He interrogated me in public a year ago, attempting to learn my HABOTN identity.
Supposedly Jones may have committed to AU tonight... not sure if it will be made public or not..
Wake-I met Jet when our kids went to HS together. i met Dmiller when my daughter and his sis became friends in his hometown while we were visiting there. Did not know him until we met with others to discuss AU football and he heard me talking about somethings and put it together. I met Norm at the same place.
Dmiller-One of AU recruits has supposedly posted on his facebook page that Jones is a Tiger. I don't follow recruits FB pages. i saw this on the Rivals free site.
My superior investigative skillz...
Looks like Hawthorne is headed to North Alabama.
They are top notch Dmiller. Topnotch.
How about a Fresca?
Can you "commit" when you're a walk-on?
Of whom are you referring to, JGT?
Trent Fisher.
You'll get nothing and like it!
JP finally gets an interception
GREAT interception by Powers!
Do you get a bowl of soup with that hat?
You can commit to walking on... it doesn't count towards any ratings or lists or anything like that though...
Fresca, funny. Hubby always replies "Fresca" when someone asks what he would like to drink. They look at him like he has lost his mind.
By the way, I predicted that Powers would get an interception to seal the deal tonight for Indy.... Yes, I would like a cookie.
a whole pack of Oreos to DMiller
You scrathed my dingy.
It's easy to grin when your ship has come in and you've got the stock market beat. But the man worthwhile, is the man who can smile when his shorts are too tight in the seat.
I bet you have some nice ties, Ty.
Hey all, was in a wedding today so I haven't had much time to spend on here. Anything good happen today?
Hot Ones ... sleep well.
http://img269.imageshack.us/i/marcuss.gif/
Lattimore with Spurrier at the bb game.
wha?
I'll have a hamburger, no a cheeseburger and a hotdog ...
WTC-I'm reading that Jones may be committed? Mosley posted it on his facebook page.
JGT got to see Ashley Judd up close and personal.
Is Jones the one with grade issues?
I don't like that picture Kathy
I so did.
kathy-if you are inMadison county, do you know Dmiller?
where bouts in Madison do you live?
Sportswriter Tate - Jenna or Ashley?
I have not heard anything about Jones having grade issues. So was there much basketball talk? We played hard, but Lebo must still go.
Man, I graduated highschool in 82 and I still may have to help a few of you to cross the street.
I live in the City of Madison right off of County Line Road.
CHB-I have not seen anyone on the blog talk about grade issues with jones. where did you hear that?
Jones would be a major addition to this class. If we get him and Whittaker, we are set at DT.
JENNA. No question.
I will be attempting to meet with these recruits, Jones included, tomorrow morning.
Jones was considered on the fence with his grades until recently.... he got a favorable ACT score and his gpa has improved.... he is on track to qualify...
WTC-that's what I was saying in response to Kathy's question. No grade issues that I know of either.
I read something about Jones a couple of weeks ago. I'll see if I can find it.
Sounds like we got him. probably will not hear about until Sunday afternoon or Monday. May wait until he talks to his parents. he came down with Dyer and Moseley.
Who is Jena?
Kathy,
I need to copy your reading list. You come up with great tidbits.
Well there you go. Mr. Miller has spoken! Thanks for clearing that up. I thought I heard something.
CHB-Thanks I missed a couple of posts.
Isn't asking who Jenna is almost grounds for temporary banhammering?
I hope he does wait and talk to his parents and makes sure before announcing. Don't want him to announce in the heat of the moment and then change his mind.
That would be great news.
Still doesn't tell me who Jena is!!
Dakota Moseley's FB status ... Jones=AU tiger
I think Jones has liked Auburn for a while now, but had not had a chance for a visit. This visit will only solidify his thoughts.
Jenna Fischer
No... Kathy and I have never met... that I am aware of. However, continuing with the "It's a small world after all" theme of the evening.... I think her daughter is a KD at UAH. My wife was a KD at UAH. Either my wife was a senior during Kathy's daughter's freshman year, or it was the year after my wife graduated... not sure. But, I would bet that they have met.
CHB - Jenna Fisher from "The Office"
Thanks Cincy, seeing how some of these guys talk sometimes it could have been Jenna Jamison.
Jenna Fischer
Miller - my wife and the friend of hers who introduced us were each KD's, though not at UAH. So, there's that fwiw.
Yep, my daughter is currently a junior KD at UAH.
... not that I have links lying around or anything.
And we are all devoted HABOTN Hotties and Auburn fans! So we have that in common!
Jenna in Shape magazine is the way to go.
So I hear.
I would have to say Ashley never having seen either in person. Somthing about a hot chick that can where a college team shirt and cheer for basketball.
The HABOTN.... one tight knit, little connected family... even if we don't know it.
Jenna Fischer or Amy Adams? Am I the only one who thinks they kinda look alike?
I'm a big fan of Jennie Finch... in case anyone was wondering.
wake.... you're too young to know what you're talking about...
whipper snapper
Thought AU played bravely today. I was in section 29 with all UK fans around me. Reed played his best half all year in the 2nd half, under control, really D'd up Wall all game. Lebo made a nice adjustment running the O through the big men at the top. It opened lanes. Pulling the bigs away for dribble drives.
Tough loss, but I got my monies worth.
D. Miller...no.
They could be sisters, easy.
Well I wasn't going to say anything but its a bit creepy that you are looking at these women, I mean you could be there dad.
whew, just watch south alabama beat troy in basketball at the buzzer here in mobile. I must say before our new building next year south has the nicest arena in the state.
Yea, yea, I saw Ashley Judd. Not impressed. Now if Winona was there, then thats another story, singing love can build a bridge, then maybe I am really impressed.
I like Lebo but he doesnt survive the year. We shoot ourselves in and out of the game. What recruits are worth damn? Johnnie Lett? we have no depth or inside force. Knox should get a medal of honor for the production he gets with the talent God gave him. We might be the worst team in the league. Who is worse?
Glad no coaches are leaving. Tech is not a job Malzahn wants. Good to see Chizik at the game.
They are both 6 years older than me....????
Jenna has Judd beat. Ashley is played out, and old looking.
UK has a different athlete than AU has. They were amazing to watch.
Your research is really making this game no fun D.
I never said I played fair, wake....
Guys not coming back
1. Pybus-hate it, from my hometown and alma mater. But word on the street back home was he had multiple concussions and had side effects. These days thats a no go on the field. So him I understand.
2. Herring-Jay, whats his deal. He recovered from the heel thing then he played, alot this year, middle of the year. Then he gets hurt again never to be heard from again. Was it the same injury. Yea, he and Pybus are also linebackers so no help there.
3. Vance Smith-Signed as a tight end then moved the line and was being beefed up. Was 2nd string. Never heard a peep of him didnt see him play wonder what his injury was.
4. Cam Henderson - So long, never knew ya.
5. Aaron Savage-I would love to see him make a run at it. He could teach those young guys alot.
6. Jay, did I just see you say that Tim Hawthorne is going to North Alabama? weird.
Frankie Sullivan asks for more help from Auburn fans:
"Our fans don't support us like that all the time," Sullivan said. "I wish they would. It brings a lot of energy. It turns me on. I'm ready to play every game, but the crowd just gives you a boost like an energy drink. Hopefully, they come out more, we really need it."
frankie sullivan, god bless him he tries. He needs to look for a power forward in the crowd more than filling the seats.
I think it would be nice, though, if this team could get just half the support they got tonight.
They still won't be good, but it might help them win a couple of more games.
PDWT,
Herring re-injured the same heel injury...
Vance suffered concussions same as pybus...
I only watched the second half but from what I saw Sullivan played excellent today.
chicken and the egg syndrome.....
if they won more, people would show up...
if people showed up... they might play harder and win more...
It doesn't help any that the coach doesn't show any interest in trying to sell his team to the fanbase in order to garner more interest...
Not gonna disagree there about Lebo rallying the fan base. He's failed miserably.
But if Auburn football sucked, there would still be at least 70,000 people in the stadium on a Saturday, regardless of what the coach had done to cultivate support.
I realize football is always gonna be bigger at Auburn. I'm okay with that.
But we seriously can't get just 5,000 people to show up for a basketball game once a week or so, regardless of how good they are or how much the coach has done to rally the fans?
The UConn women might beat our men's team...
That's a wrap for tonight's episode of habotn. War Eagle and have a happy tomorrow.
New e-trade commercial... pure gold!
I was at the game today and make most of them(mens and womens). I enjoyed having a student section there behind the team, I thought Lebo made good halftime adjustments whereas calipari didn't do much. I still think its time for him to go, but enjoyed today, great great effort by the team, maybe we'll win a game or two down the stretch
asdf afqw324t223re4rwf
Time to go find some CROOTS.
Jay G ...
Goin' to hang out with WTC's mom.
New thread UPZ.
