MSU women def. Auburn, 73-58
Hey everyone. Hope your Sunday is going well.
I will be LIVE BLOGGING the women's game (Auburn vs. MSU) beginning around 2 p.m. This will be a Cover It Live-type situation.
Most of you are not into women's hoops and that's fine, too.
I'll be available to talk about a somewhat wide variety of topics, though I will be watching the women's game. Come soak it all in. This is a dress rehearsal for A New Era In HABOTN Game Coverage.
Love,
jgt

The page!
Hello, hello, hello...
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
IV here.
Funny, my hands suddenly feel like two balloons.
With this weather, I am uncomfortably numb.
Would any of you believe that I have an employee named Pink Floyd?
It's bad when you walk out to check the mail and your eyes water and your nose runs. I hate this type cold weather unless there is white stuff on the ground...which there is not!
Yeah, when the high is 31 and it's the first day back in the office in a couple of weeks it makes it really hard to get out of bed.
Running outside yesterday was miserable to begin with but got better at the end of the 5 mile run. I get way too cold too easily. I'm cold right now in the office and several others think it is burning up. Oh well.
It's 63 degrees in my office right now. That's a might nippy for sitting still. The space heater behind my desk is broken, so I'm thinking I'll be visiting Home Depot or Lowe's this week.
might=mite
I wonder what they're saying about the Outback Bowl on the HNBOTN?
LOL...Apparently James Spann has been getting preemptive hate mail regarding weather scrolls or maps during Thursday's game..
Spann
I think CH=B posted something this weekend about the NW team leaving the group team breakfast after talking smack with our guys. I wonder if that was just a semi-vicious rumor. I wonder why I care about all this after the game's been over for three days.
i just got got my box of Outback Bowl goodies from the mail man. i may not have been to the game but it sure looks like i have. :)
I thought it was funny that NW fans would get shut up. They'd get rowdy and rally...only to be shut up again. Wash Rinse Repeat. I'm glad we had the last laugh.
Not that I was inferring early that CH=B was starting rumours, just if that really happened. If it did, then I guess the rep of the Ncats has dulled a good bit

Will there be a live blog from tonight's game between the Auburn cagers and the West Georgia five?
You know, Vince Young graduated early, since the Titans are done maybe he can suit up for UT against Bammer.
Forgot to mention that I sat a couple of rows back from Nosa Eguae on my flight back from TPA. The guy sitting next to him asked him if he was excited about AU getting Cam Newton. Nosa grinned and said, "Oh yeah! That guy is a beast."
Not surprising - AU men are 11th in the SEC in FT percentage.
Surprising - AU's Frankie Sullivan leads the SEC in FT percentage.
At the game, after Kodi threw those two INTs, I was so mad and said that he better not ever be allowed to pass again. After watching the game again yesterday, I agree with Jet. Although, the first pass was underthrown, the second pass was good - the DB just made a fantastic play. BUT, I do agree that his role needs to be re-evaluated.
Tar Heel, is that your wife or 2.0 in your avatar? I ask because you don't look old enough to be that woman's father.
Jet, you have mail.
Scott Chocolate, Harris Gaston was on our plane on the way back to Bham. There were only 5 or 6 people at the gate in Memphis, but of course, I didn't talk to him - I'm too shy to talk to a Hottie when I see one(I saw Kathy in the hotel lobby in Baton Rouge)! Actually, we didn't know what his name was until I looked it up in a program when we got home!
I'm with you, Luv. Normally I'm a social guy but around famous or somewhat-famous people I tend to clam up. i.e. I had a class with Courtney Taylor. He sat in the same seat in front of me all semester, I think I talked to him once and it was because he asked me about homework.
I also got a chance to meet Norm Chow and I had the opportunity to tell him exactly what I thought of his 2004 USC team and blew it.
Luv,
I'll admit that the two interceptions Kodi threw were good plays by the D...however history has shown anytime you let Kodi put the ball in the air there is a risk of the play not going our way.
He struggles making routine passes, asking him to throw the ball from 30 yards down field and 45 across it is just asking for someone to get in position to pick it off.
People are scared to talk to me too. I don't think it's because I am famous, though. I think it's because of the bear mask I wear all the time.
Aren't you supposed to scream and charge at bears...?
Maybe that works on bears. I don't know what you are supposed to do when you meet a naked man wearing a bear mask. In my experience, other people don't know either.
Sean, Kathy isn't famous and I was still too shy to talk to her! LOL
I still can't believe I talked to Todd Blackledge in the hotel lobby in Knoxville!
Michael, I thought you wore a box on your head...
One of the women at the gate asked us if we lived in Bham (or something like that. I wasn't really paying attention) and my friend told her we were on our way back from the Outback Bowl in Tampa. She asked, "Did Auburn win?" My friend told her that they had and the woman responded, "But they still can't be Alabama." My friend looked at her dumbfounded and said, "Excuse me? Do you not remember that Auburn beat Alabama 6 years in a row?" The woman said something else about not being able to beat Alabama and I said, "OMG. You can't even have a friendly conversation in an airport with the Alabama arrogance coming out."
Luv, I am wearing a bear mask under the box.
Luv, there was another AU player on the plane with us, too. I couldn't recognize him due to the bear mask, though. ;) Actually, I didn't recognize him without the bear mask, either. Somebody said he was a walk-on. Anyway, I said "War Eagle!" to him when we got off the plane. I didn't talk to Nosa, as everybody around him on the plane was talking to him. I did try to eavesdrop, though!
Yeah, there was another player on our flight from Tampa, but I didn't recognize him either. They have some sweet shoes, don't they?
I had a class with William Andrews one quarter. I never talked to him because he never showed up for class.
LOL, API
Tim Jessie, who handed off to Lawyer Tillman on the reverrrrrrssssee, was supposed to sit next to me in one class, but I only saw him once because that was the only time I went to class.
My group had a wager on who would be the first to see a Bammer wearing Bammer gear at the Outback Bowl. I thought I had it after seeing one in the bathroom about five minutes after entering the stadium. I came out and said, "I win!" My brother said , "Nope", and pointed to one that he had seen right when I left. What are Bammers thinking when they do that?
I had a class with Cadillac once. You had to walk up to the roll sheet taped to the wall and mark next to your name to show you attended. Caddy's name was marked present every time. I won't say whether or not I ever actually saw him there.
MJT - marked present when you walked up or right after you walked away?
Hehe... I'm innocent judge. Though I won't say whether or not I signed for my friends or my friends signed for me on other occasions. Alas, Caddy was not my friend.
Scott Chocolate, I will never understand why bammers go to Auburn games. The ONLY game I will go to in which Alabama is playing is when they play Auburn! There were a few about 3 rows behind us. But, when the guy went to the bathroom he wrapped an Auburn blanket around him...
I may have mentioned this before, but I had a class with Luvell Bivins (who failed to keep Greg Richardson in-bounds when tackling him right before the Van Tiffin kick). I rarely talked to the football players in my classes at AU, but I ended up sitting by him in my first class back after that IB. I actually asked him why he couldn't keep Richardson in-bounds. To his credit, he didn't punch me in the face. He just smiled and said, "I tried, man".
There are probably AU fans at Bammer games for various reasons, but I'll bet the majority of them go incognito.
I was at Indian Pines one time and John Vaughn was in the foursome behind me. The group behind him had some ruffians in them. As we were leaving the tee box, I heard one of them say..."hey whatcha want to bet he hits 5 balls, 2 to the left, 2 to the right and I bet that last one bangs off that there tree!"
*Disclaimer: I edited his quote for content.
I will say that since it is a bowl game, it is not quite as bad to have bama fans since many locals will make their way to such a game just because it is there. I went to a few Liberty Bowls caring zero about either of the teams just because it was something to do.
Yeah, there was a couple that got on the plane in front of us going to Tampa - the woman was an Auburn fan and the husband, a bammer. Husband or not, I would have to ask someone that was an Auburn fan to go with me or I would make him wear something neutral. Who am I kidding? I could never marry a bammer! (no offense, Kathy!)
Michael, did you wear something neutral or did you wear Auburn attire?
LUV that lady next to THT is indeed 2.0 and the young man is THT Jr. By the way a took that picture for them.
I am not bashful I walked tight up to LUV's tailgate party at the Miss State game and said howdy I am Digger. She got off her cell phone and said SO! just kidding LUV
Dang a should be I
Luv, I wore jeans, a heavy coat, and a bear mask usually.
Chris Johnson wants to race Usain Bolt in a short distance sprint...who ya got?
I'll go with Bolt. But if it is like 20 yards or so, I imagine Johnson has a shot.
Bolt won the 100m and the 200m.
Could probably win the 400m
I love Chris, but he'd have no shot.
I mean we're talking 40-50 yards here to clarify, not 100-200m.
I'm more inclined to give CJ a shot over 10-20 yards b/c Bolt's supposed weakness (by his own admission) is starting, but the guy is freak.
Over 40-50 yards, Bolt still takes him over though.
Any chance of this happening?
Luv, what day/time did you fly out of B'ham? I'm wondering if I saw the same couple.
I might wear an AU cap to a bowl game in which AU wasn't playing, but not if Bammer were playing in it. That's just too obnoxious for me.
I wore an Auburn shirt to the UT-Vandy game in Knoxville. I justified it by having it be orange.
Was that wrong of me?
I'm FREEZING!! I wish it would at least snow to justify this cold weather. Then I could just stay home because we know what happens in bham when it even thinks about snowing.
Just saw my old roommate on College Football Live for a 'wired' segment with Will Muschamp.
Awesome.
it has been snowing on & off all day here in east tennessee. not enough to stick, but still. bbrrrrr.
They should mic-up Boom for the game and put it on pay-per-view. That'd be awesome.
E-Bro, that doesn't really rate on the obnoxious scale, in my opinion. If you did it at an LSU or UGA game, then maybe. If you did it in Tuscaloosa, then you'd absolutely rate. To me, it's all about intent, and I know the Bammers wear their stuff to Auburn games just to piss off AU fans.
SC...thanks for the judgment call. I was actually wearing the shirt b/c it had the color orange in it.
I went to the game with a UT buddy who had a free, extra ticket, so I was generally pulling for them for his sake.
I thought bammers wore that stuff because that IS their complete wardrobe
Mr. Tommy D., I agree on the intent that Bammers hsve in wearing their crap to AU games, you know just to PO Auburn people. Sadly in my case, it works. Saw one in the BR right after the game and my aim almost got bad.
Actually that was El Scotto Choco that advanced the Bama reason for wearing their crap to AU games, but I believe my man Tommy D would have said it if the chocolate man hadn't beat him to it.
Oh, come on, MTD...they have to have something to wear to work...(insert joke here).
I would have eventually, IV. :)
mytommyd, I love your avatar. It's scary.
Not as scary as a naked man in a bear mask avatar, but it'll do.
Anyone know anything about Neil Caudle transferring to App State?
PUPPET HOUR!!! AAAHHHHH!!!
Do puppets run down the boulevard nekked with a bear head and sack on there head?
Where did you hear this crazed rumor, Sean?
A puppet of AL.com told him
Puppets are crazy. Never trust a puppet. Not even a naked one.
Sean, I've seen that on a couple of message boards.
But you can trust the naked guy in the bear mask.
Now you have seen it on three message boards. However, since you are the one who presented this info on this particular message board, I guess that doesn't really bolster your case.
Don't know anything about the bidness so.... do goats eat puppets of do puppets eat goats?
A naked guy in a bear mask just dropped off a note from Neil Caudle. I'm not sure whether to open it.
Scott C burn it
I just saw it somewhere, was wondering if there was anything to it.
The bear mask guy just took the note back. He said it was supposed to be delivered to a goat-herding club somewhere north of here.
WHEE I thought the puppets had turned off the internet and was eating all hands touching keyboards
Neil Caudle to transfer to App. State im hearing...if true I hope he succeeds there
Scott Chocolate, I'm not sure if saw that couple in Bham or Atlanta. If it was Bham, it was around 6:30a.m. If it was Atlanta, it was around 10a.m.
How many years of eligibility does he have?
Are you sure he said "goat herding club" or "goat herder with nubs", Scott C?

It always works in my case too, IV. Everywhere we went on Thurs.-Sat. we saw them - from every airport to Ybor City to the stadium.
Not sure, MJT. With him talking through the bear mask and me listening through my platypus mask, it was hard to understand him.
Luv - different couple, I guess. The one I saw was in B'ham around 4:30 or 5:00 on 12/31. The guy was the Bammer. He had on a UAT t-shirt that was way too big for him and a hat listing all of their MNCs on the brim. He looked like he had rarely seen a razor or a toothbrush. His AU wife was a bit more put together.
Definitely not the same couple. They were young and attractive - except for the fact that he was a bammer!
jhag...The Caudle thing is on the Bama boards too.
Have no idea if it is true or not..Maybe Jay G will be able to confirm at some point tonight.
I wonder if the coaches were straight up with ole Neil and told him he would be behind quite a few folks come next fall.
I'm sure they did.
Well, as much as the loss of Neil would hurt, at least it will help make sure we get under the 85 scholly limit. Oh wait, that's not exactly a problem. Nevermind.
YOU THINK MONICA STILL READS THE HABOTN?
jhag - no
we will need a bit of attrition to get down to 85 if we end up with 25 in the '09 class (which we have now done) and 25 in the '10 class (which is the goal).
LUV - I'm old as dirt. Probably too old for my broken collarbone to know how to heal.
Okay THT,
Since the potty has been my new best friend for the past four days I missed what happened to you. What in the world did you do to yourself????? All I know is you messed up your shoulder.
Recouping from surgery and getting sick is not fun either. Maybe I can make you feel a little better! In one jaunt to the potty in the wee hours of the morn on New Years Day (and I swear I was stone cold sober), I got up too fast, passed out, fell flat on my face onto ceramic tile, woke up who knows when later and because I still cannot talk I could not get hubby's attention. I even tried beating on the wall, to no avail. I literally crawled back to the bed.
A knot on my head, a bruised and bloody nose have now been added to the lovely slit across my throat. I am a sight for sore eyes.
PS: hubby feels kinds bad!
Good Lord missinit.
I didn't even know you weren't doing well.. Hope you get better soon.
THT..you talk bad about bammer again.....I'll mess up the other shoulder.. Just kidding. Hope you get well soon too.
A couple of random thoughts - I hope Neil stays and toughs it out. Otherwise he becomes another Jeff Klein(or worse). Finally, I miss Monica.
Missinit ...
Get well soon. I'm so sorry that you've been going through a spell.
I hope all are doing well this evening.
I don't know if any of you saw this but it was a nice review of the year. These videos are always good.
Top plays of 2009
missinit ...bless your heart. Sounds like you've just gone through one of those rough spells that happens to me every 10 or 15 years.
I'll say a little prayer.
The FOX pre-game show is lame.
These guys illustrate again that they don't understand CFB.
Why does everyone feel compelled to fly an Eagle at pregame...
I have seen it numerous times... NOT AT JHS...
Get your own tradition..
missinit,
I'm sorry you have had such a rough go at recovery. Your surgery was enough without adding all the other.
You can use hubby not hearing you to quite an advantage. A few years ago I got food poisoning and got sick during the night. My hubby didn't know until several hours later when he found me dehydrated and almost unconscious on the bathroom floor. After a trip to the emergency room it seems like a nice piece of jewelry came out of that experience. :) He felt so bad, even though he really shouldn't have. But I accepted the gift nonetheless.
Missinit,
If I remember right, you had thyroid surgery. I've been there and done that but I don't think I had as rough of a time as you are having. I will be thinking of you and hoping and praying that you get better soon. By the way, did you have both lobes removed? I did and both were very large.
Missinit, I was going to ask him the same thing. Except I was going to say, "WTH did you do to fracture your clavicle and what does Mrs. THT have to say about it?"
Sorry your recovery isn't going so well. Hopefully, you will be feeling better real soon!
Go Horned Frogs!!
THT,
Will you have to have surgery on your shoulder?
To missinit and THT...
Get well soon.
AuburnEagle.com was reporting the Caudle stuff earlier on a Facebook post.
I saw a couple of Auburn folks walking around Savannah this past weekend with a Bammer. I gave them crap for associating with him, even if he was married to one and related to the other.
You the man PF.
was that Spirit during the pregame? He's famous and stuff. I prefer the goldens, but he's a great bird.
You can tell by my avatar which of the magnificent birds I like.
i am hearing the caudle stuff is rumors only....
THT, mind telling the whole shoulder injury story again? I'm not going back through the 2000 or so comments I missed, and it sounds awesome.
I have heard that Caudle's father came out and said he will compete for the starting job next yr.
For those that would like to watch Auburn win the Outback Bowl 4 times. ESPNU will be replaying it tonight at 1am EST.
TCU does not look ready tonight.
A case of the nerves I guess.
I have my DVR set to record it. I'm wondering how they are going to condense it to 2 hours.
Cincy - They bypass some plays. You will hear, due to time constraints.....
They may not be in a BCS conference but BSU wide receivers know how to break off routes to help the qb out. Also the qb knows how to scramble to buy time for the wr's to come back to the ball.
College of Charleston chases down UNC, forces OT and beats 'em 82-79. The students storm the floor. Why would Ol" Roy play in Charleston?
I read an aricle on recruiting this afternoon from Goldgerg on al.com. it was pretty good. it gives positions that AU is filling. I think this staff is filling it's need better than mny think. I really was surprised when see that the 2 TE's might play OL.
Were the students storming the floor the 7:2 hot-girl:guy ratio that the school touts?
PF ...
Let me assure you that's not your concern for a while.
I really like this BSU offense. Maybe ours can look like this (sort of) next year.
answer the dang question...
I think 7:2 was a little optimistic, but I saw a few prize winners.
sorry I missed it. maybe they can replay it in March when I start watching basketball.
DUring the pregame stuff, the coach for BSU said they initally said they would play anyone on a home and home basis. Now he says he will play anyone at all, anywhere as long as they are paid a fee for giving up the return game.
I like that attitude. i hope Au gets that attitude next year when it comes time to schedule games next time around.
OK, I feel like SFC where I am talking about football and everyone else is talking other stuff. Get with the program.
AU's not in that situation, though. It's not like they're asking someone to come play on a blue field, and the $$ should be a little more equal between AU and other BCS schools than BSU and BCS schools.
They are not in that situation. i just like the idea of playing anyone on a home and home basis or a 1 time on a neutral site. To get the respect you have be willing to go and play those games. I hope the big picture for AU is to get the players in and then start scheudling bigger games.
I'm on the Cam Newton Convoy.
Are you saying that WVU and Clemson aren't enough or something?
What happened to the return game with USF? Did we pay them off, or is that still scheduled for a couple of years from now?
TCU just got robbed robbed robbed with that penalty.
We've got a home and home with Clemson the next two years, which is a nice series.
Do we open up at home with Clemson? Or go there?
Clemson@Auburn 2010
Auburn@Clemson 2011
I heard the Caudle report/rumor earlier today as well...
Supposedly his father did say that Neil will compete for the Starting gig during the Spring.
Since Neil is scheduled to graduate in May... it is of my opinion that if (when?) he does not win the gig, he either transfers to somewhere for his senior year of eligibility while getting his master's... or he rides off into the sunset after he graduates a la Timmy Hawthorne.
What say ye, WTC?
That's a big play before halftime.
I think playing WVU and Clemson is OK. I would liked to see games with Penn Sate, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and he like.
From an image standpoint, theyu have more prestige. beating them will get you more recognition than beating WVU or Clemson. Honestly, other than this year, what has Clemson done. They remond me a lot of Ole Miss. uJust can;t handle the lime light.
Dmiller-I heard the same thing today. In fact I called my guys in AU tonight and asked about the rumor and they said the same thing you said. If he doesn;t get the #1 spot in the spring, he wil probably transfer out or just graduate and go on with life.
Good post Dmiller.
I am fine with a BCS opponent each year, but playing more than one is crazy.
Did The Frogs recently change their uni's and gear too or am I just now noticing it? Either way, the helmets look like bowling balls.
TCU is wearing those hideous Nike prototypes.
The uniform folks are screwing with college sports, and I don't like it.
I'd like to see AU play F$U again...
I'd love a home/home with Notre Dame or Penn St. or Michigan.
I would have liked the home/home with UCLA...
Those type games getting AU some press in regions that aren't natural press regions for AU would be beneficial.
Even though we lost to USC in 02/03, playing them gave us good exposure and I think good experience that really payed off heading into the 04 season.
Jet-0ne BCS opponenet per year is fine, just get a good one with a tradition to it so when you win the media takes notice.
ummm.... did Fox just go out for anyone else?
ok...it's back... I think...
whew! I was about to be PO'd!
I agree...my sarcasm wasn't thick enough.
WVU and Clemson have had their moments, but they aren't big names consistently enough. I don't like a big 10 opponent, but would be thrilled with a Texas, Oklahoma, FSU, Miami, or Nebraska.
I took a beating around here when I said I didn't want us to play UCLA next year when we already had Clemson on the schedule.
Bottom line, both games with WVU were nationally televised in prime time.
I imagine both Clemson games will be, too.
We all want to play the Notre Dames, Oklahomas, Penn States, but it's clearly not the easiest thing in the world to schedule, and we (as fans) have to be mentally prepared to go 1-1 with the date at best.
BSU's band kinda sucks.
That cowbell chick looked absolutely thrilled to be there.
I know you did Jet, and it was deserved at the time. We took it on the chin at the time for not taking that game. However,I willsay that in order to get a neitral site game, you are going to have to have that game and a home-home game with another BCS school becasue the neitral site game is usually made up only 1 year in advance.
I hate to say it but we definitely needed less cowbell.
From what I saw, they should have just kept the camera on the Drum Major girl. As long as they insist on showing us the bands, show us something decent.
We don't need two BCS games in a year, especially debuting a brand new QB.
I was right. Like I always am. Soon as you get that straight, WTC, you'll be much better off.
After 2003 and 2007, I'm not inclined to play two BCS programs in a year, but I would have welcomed the UCLA matchup in ATL.
Good exposure.
I also think we're selling Clemson and WV short. When we scheduled WV, they were a pretty consistent Top Ten team.
Clemson has got a bit of a little man complex, but it's a solid school with solid tradition. Really should be doing better than they are with facilities and support they have.
Seeing the studio set reminds of the classic "Family Guy" gag with Officer Reese.
Oh good, another band.
Gimme Some Lovin' is so cliched, while These Boots Are Made for Walkin' is a timeless classic.
TCU's band is mo betta (I'm not saying why, but it might have something to do with behinds and cowboy boots).
OH NO HE DI'NT!
After the game, two of Switzer's players shot 3 people, another was caught with $2.4 million in cocaine, and other one knocked over the NCO Club.
I know, Norm. Gimme Some Lovin' is nice.
Also, has BSU been using the same commercial for a few years, or have they been on TV enough this year for me to have it memorized?
So Jet, given what we just saw Lt. J.J. Thomas say "it's just like Legion Field in Alabama" I guess that's not too far off track.
I didn't understand what he meant by that because I didn't see 45 guys waving towels trying to get me to park in their yard.
ok, my bride is finished with cooking, cleaning, and laundry. See you peeps some other day.
Of course she is, PF.
That's why she married you.
TCU's helmets look like someone's kitchen countertops with three strips of tape on top.
How about the red outline on the helment which is suppose to represent the blood that horned frogs shoot from their eyes?
Hardcore.
Just heard that North Carolina lost to Charleston in basketball...Is that correct?
FSJ...yes. It happened. I think UNC may have had some players suspended for the game, though.
FSJ - it must be, Jet reported it earlier. And, as he also stated to WTC earlier, he's always right.
FSJ ... UNC was without two contributors ... but C of C outscored the Heels something like 12-1 down the stretch and stayed ahead in the OT.
UNC hit one 3 pointer the whole game.
Norm, are you gonna do your magic?
I must, I must.
I bet $1 there's a bammer in this Fiesta Bowl crowd somewhere.
But it won't be either of the 2 fine & upstanding parents from N. Georgia who tattooed 6 of their 7 youngins with a homemade tattoo set. I don't think they're allowed to leave the area for the time being.
Bammers. Can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em.
Well, I guess you could. I just wouldn't want to live with the consequences.
I don't think I'd be a fan of prison life.
WSFA had a couple from Cullman live on the news at 6 p.m.
Couldn't tell if the woman had put out the Marlboro or not.
Go Norm!
So my neighbors still have their Christmas lights up all over their trees and landscaping.
It was an impressive display when the time was right.
There are folks in our neighborhood with lights still up, too.
Now it's just not the right time anymore.
So anyway
