I will be LIVE BLOGGING the women's game (Auburn vs. MSU) beginning around 2 p.m. This will be a Cover It Live-type situation.
Most of you are not into women's hoops and that's fine, too.
I'll be available to talk about a somewhat wide variety of topics, though I will be watching the women's game. Come soak it all in. This is a dress rehearsal for A New Era In HABOTN Game Coverage.

Should Boise State be the National Champs?
We learned that Boise St. has a pretty solid defense. Or that TCU's offense lacks substance.
We already knew that TCU had a good defense, and they more or less proved it.
I'm all for a playoff, but after tonight's game, I'm happy with the National Title Game we got this year...aside from the whole Bama playing in it part.
I'm going to go with a big emphatic no on that one Steve.
I don't know how you can not have a national championship game, but the AP will do for now. If the AP matches the BCS, we have a definitive champion. If they don't, then it is like usual, a shared national title.
Boise State has been very impressive all season. I was kind of surprised by tonights game because I thought there would be more scoring, but Boise State has looked great all season. They impressed right off the bat by beating Oregon. I mean really beating them. It was they won. It was they beat them down and made them cry.
That was an ugly woman.
None of the contenders have really impressed me as the clear national champ. Boise State probably has been more impressive than anyone else. They haven't had quite as close of calls as the evil empire or Texas, but they have only played a few solid teams.
We just need some kind of playoff to settle things like this. An eight team playoff would do it.

I doubt Boise St. regrets it.
I would even accept something a little more strange, like a playoff between all the unbeaten teams.
Credit due to Boise St. for their first and last game of the season, but there were some games in between that were less than impressive (Tulsa, La. Tech).
Would have loved to seen one of these two teams against Florida. Damn you BCS. Damn you.

It's alot easier to avoid close calls when your only in conf competition is Fresno State every year.

Boise can beat anyone on their day, but they only they need that day to be once or twice a year. Different story in the SEC and Big 12. The Mountain West even.

Possibly so. They have just been impressive each time I have seen them. They deserve a shot.
Yall have given me the most wonderful idea. Should a team like Boise State go undefeated and not appear in the national title game, let them exchange schedules with the SEC team of their choosing for the next season. Should they win them all, they are the national champs.
By the way, the SEC team that did the swap would get a pretty good deal too.
They will get there shot next year...they play Virginia Tech and Oregon State...they should start the season in the top 5 so we will see
They absolutely spanked Oregon this season, so playing Oregon State isn't exactly impressive.

Auburn would have had a blast playing them this year. Could not have topped the entertainment value of the Outback bowl.

They have actually absolutely spanked Oregon two years in a row. This year Oregon went to Boise State to get their revenge. It was that spanking that made that Oregon runningback go all wango tango. They were never really in the game and the score was much closer than the actual game.

I just want to say Fox's coverage of college football is awful.

Does Boise benefit from playing in the WAC in terms of keeping players healthy and their depth chart full? You betcha. Can anyone really definitively say that they would lose 3 games in the SEC, or that Oregon State and Virginia Tech (two teams with some big, big wins, and some pretty awful loses over the last few years) would or would not beat this years team, much less next seasons? Not a chance in hates.
Getting rid of the huge amount of speculation is the only reason I see for a playoff. I still like the bowls, though.
I thought Boise's defense was pretty cool to watch. As creative as that team's been the last few years, their coaches would've had just as much success if they had gone to art school.

PF, are you saying that Boise St. doesn't deserve a shot at the NC? I think there should be one more game - between BSU and the winner of the game on Thursday night. Otherwise, you can't say that the winner of that game is the sole National Champion. The whole point of the BCS, I thought, was to eliminate shared NC's.

I like the bowls and I also believe a playoff is possible keeping the bowl system alive and well. Will it happen in my lifetime? Not sure, but the plus one is coming, and that is somewhat satisfying to me.
Boise State is a good team, and yes, they did beat Oregon, not Oregon State, this season. The worst thing for Boise State is that Nevada is the strongest team in their conference and they are not very good. Heck, I believe ND pasted them this season.
