Fall Scrimmage One (8/9)
UPDATED @ 3:30 p.m. with new information.
Hey everyone. Well, we have a problem. The media wasn't allowed to watch this scrimmage. I have no problem with that. We do have a problem in that no statistics are being released from the scrimmage.
What can I pass along? Hmmmm.
Here are The Things You're Allowed To Know:
I'm now building a video of some Tuberville comments.

Here are The Things You're Allowed To Know:
- The scrimmage lasted approximately 100 plays. (Source: Tommy Tuberville)
- The team's top defensive players worked only a few series. (Source: Sen'Derrick Marks)
- Freshman LB Spencer Pybus "probably had about 11 tackles just going with the second team. He tired everybody out." (Marks)
- WR Mario Fannin didn't play because coaches wanted to look at younger players there. Also, C Jason Bosley didn't play due to his strained lower back. (Tuberville)
- TB Brad Lester said the offense was able to exploit the defense more often than he expected: ``We've never scored a lot of points on the defense, especially in the first scrimmage. It seemed like we almost did what we wanted to do on offense. Pretty much the defense couldn't stop us."
- Lester said of freshman WR Phillip Pierre-Louis: ``I've never seen anybody run that fast in my life. He looked real good."
- S Marcus Jemison's injury suffered Friday now is being classified as a leg injury. It previous was identified as an ankle injury. Tuberville said Jemison will be evaluated in Birmingham today.
- Tuberville said the scrimmage was governed by the new clock rules, which wasn't completely smooth sailing. ``It's as new for the officials as it is for us. It went pretty smooth. It is different. It's going to be different for the fans. It's going to be different for everybody when it goes to 25, when it starts at 40. Even the officials, you could tell they were thinking today rather than reacting. We've got to work at it and we'll do the same thing next week."
- The next scrimmage is scheduled for either Friday night or Saturday morning.

So Fannin was held out to see the younger players. Can't we pretty much consider them all younger players in terms of this offense they have only used it in one game.
His shoulder is not sturdy is it?
I'm not one to proclaim greatness for any player until he has actually done something in a game, not practice. That being said, I think that Spencer Pybus might tunn out to be an Alex Lincoln type guy. I just have a feeling that by the time he is a junior he will be a very productive linebacker for us.
When everybody was nay-saying our recruits, I said that Spencer Pybus would be a stud. He is a physical freak. I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear his name this year.
Internet went down at Auburn. I'll add video no later than 3 o'clock. I'm not in a position to upload a project like that at the moment ...
I was surprised to hear Pybus' name today. Not that he isn't good; I just hadn't heard his name once this fall.
thanks for the update Jay.... any reason you think stats were not given out to media, your gut feeling.... keep the videos coming.... thanks
My guess is that they're trying to be a little secretive.
Maybe I'm getting old ... but that didn't make me mad like it would have five years ago. Not sure why.
Jay......that's wisdom and patience. Most knowledgeble fans recognize that the teams needs to keep some stuff private. Great job reporting what is available and proper.
Rumo has it Trey Blackmon missed the srimmage and no one knows why. You heard anything to that effect, Jay?
Pybus is MUCH faster than Alex Lincoln. Much faster! Pybus can run a 4.4 but the scouting reports say he's got to develop the lateral speed and shiftiness.
I think Fannin is fine. They know what he can do. Lester and Tate probably didn't do much either.
I couldn't get much out of anyone about the scrimmage, to be honest. I'll see what I can find out ...
Is anybody else concerned over Blackmon missing the scrimmage and nothing being said about it from the coaches? I guess just because of his past history this has me very nervous
I haven't heard a peep about Blackmon. So it's either extreme top secret or it's a non issue. Anything that dude does in under a microscope. You can't even report that he had a death in the family and a funeral to attend without causing an uproar.
I don't have anything to add other than ... Tray has turned a lot of things around in his life during the past year. I'd be surprised to learn that he was in trouble or something like that.
Thats good to hear. I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to see what he can do on the field if he has a full season with no distractions.
Jay,
Thanks for the video update.... one the picture you have shown who wears the no. 24 that you have shown running the football?
That's Anthony Jemison, I believe.
Brother of injured freshman safety Marcus Jemison.
Crudup is usually right ... I can't figure out how either. But, I got 10 cash money that says he was at a funeral yesterday. Just for fun.
"he" in my last post referred to Blackmon.
