Practice Four (8/5)
Hey everyone. Here is what You Need To Know:
Here are your results from today's pass-rush drill. Keep in mind that defenders have the advantage here. I occasionally award an "E" for even ... which generally happens when a defensive lineman gets a good push, but is forced too far outside.

- S Aairon Savage will be examined by orthopedists in Birmingham on Wednesday to determine the next step. Coach Tommy Tuberville sounds like he's expecting surgery.
- S DeRon Furr is transferring. Furr and his father met with Tuberville earlier today and elected to take that step. Furr's last drill as an Auburn player ended with a beat-down from defensive teammates, which S Zac Etheridge said was a message to play more aggressively. The ploy apparently backfired.
- OT Lee Ziemba missed practice with a sprained knee. Assistant coach Hugh Nall said he was told it would affect Ziemba only for a few days.
- CB Walt McFadden, a junior, played in Savage's spot today. He played well in one-on-one drills and intercepted a Kodi Burns pass during the final 11-on-11 drill. He said afterward that he knows opportunity is here. "It's getting to be that time," he said.
- Tuberville said freshman DE Andre Wadley has been released from the hospital for a second time. Wadley spent nearly a week at East Alabama Medical Center in July after a voluntary workout. Tuberville said doctors still don't have a handle on what's wrong.
- Nall took time to praise OL Mike Berry and OG Byron Isom for their recent practice work.
- Today's practice ran from 4:30 p.m. to approximately 6:45. Partly cloudy. High was 94.

I think the plan with Furr worked perfectly. It showed how he would handle adversity. He would quit.
That's one way to look at it.
Thanks for the coverage on the O and D line. It's my favorite. Some more video of the respective matchups would be most welcome.
Raven Gray doesn't seem impressive so far.
Maybe not, but I think our man Thorpe is going to be a good one.
Thorpe, AKA "Stretch".
Looks like the other Savage is a player.
one practice? are you kidding me? i guess furr isn't the stud he was first thought......at least he is in his own mind. i mean, i'm a pansy and all, but my goodness, they haven't even put on pads yet. blows my mind.
Raven Gray has been way off the pace so far. He's just not handling business on the field.
I'd love to get more footage for the daily updates. The problem there is that we're limited to the first, say, 10 minutes of practice. Once we hit that stage, all cameras are to be turned off.
I understand the reasoning from Auburn's perspective, but the budding videographer in me hates it.
Jay G love the updates. Your impressions of D Roseman? I am surprised he even made it back to practice considering his leg problems.
He has looked better than I expected. He's not very big to be playing inside, though, and seems miscast there.
Ok, peeps, I'm signing off from Auburn.
Talk with you all tomorrow.
Guys, Furr is a good football player regardless of this incident. He's a heck of an athlete, and he's 18. Let's not pick on an 18 year old too much considering our own flaws and mistakes we made in the past.
After all, who is to say he's definitely making a mistake? He'll probably end up playing QB somewhere. Personally, I thought WR would be his fit.
Crud ... I agree with you. This may not be a mistake for him. He may never regret leaving AU. But what I hate for him is this: regardless of how things turn out for him down the road, he will always regret THE WAY he left. You know?
BS Jay TATE. There was NO BEATDOWN. Two players got into it and then other players rushed to break it up.
You ALWAYS EXAGGERATE with your snide remarks. Here is a sensitive situation and you make up something.
I shouldn't but I can't resist ...
I think the sensitive part of this situation is withdrawing tomorrow.
I'm not picking on him one bit. I'm just calling a spade a spade. Or in this case, a quitter a quitter.
Agreed, Phred. And agreed with calling a quitter and quitter. Somebody stated that it's a good thing this happened quickly. Couldn't agree more with that.
Every team, I mean every team, has a soft spot. Everybody knows where ours is right now. So, this is where the real fun starts...building a solid secondary.
Great updates Jay. I think Furr saw the QBs taking a water break and starting wishing he was with them.
I don't always exaggerate my snide remarks. I'm actually quite reserved with them at times.
And Furr's deal was a beat-down. Zac Etheridge confirmed that. It's known.
Anyway, thanks for all the support. The videos are getting a lot of hits and the blog is really taking off. Let's keep it going. I'll do my part.
Great vids, JGT.
