Second quarter
AUBURN 14, USM 0: Tristan Davis scores on a 13-yard run. Yes sir. TD is back. Drive covered 76 yards in seven plays. Auburn now has 234 yards of offense. More than eight minutes remain in the second quarter.
AUBURN 7, USM 0: Ben Tate scores on a taxing 1-yard run. Drive covered 26 yards in six plays. Why such good field position? Doghouse Dunn returns a punt 33 yards. (@13:10)
GOING INTO THE QUARTER
Total offense
AUBURN: 135 (42 rush, 93 pass)
USM: 16
BIG UP: To ESPN.com blogging ace Chris Low, who graciously mentioned me in one of entries today. He's covering the game today.
To put that into perspective, Jay Tate of the Montgomery Advertiser dug up a telling statistic this week. Under former offensive coordinator Al Borges, the Tigers threw for fewer than 100 yards in a game only once in four years (50 games).

Who da thunk our 2 reliable RBs would fumble?
The defense is a monster and we are already playing a lot of players.
2 TDs finally. Playcalling and QB look good. The passing fundamentals are much better. Billings is still catching the ball with alligator arms.
Auburn's offense definitely looks rehabilitated.
except for tailbacks not hitting some of the gaping holes. tate's slow
I wouldn't say he's "slow," but he's not remarkably "quick."
he's got to get going a few yards before he's dangerous
I don't like the shotgun inside the 5 yards line when it's obvsious we're going to go physical. Gives the defense a better chance
Nice stop D. I love watching the D, but it is also nice not having them on the field the entire game.
We have opened up the offense and defense playbooks more than I hoped would be necessary. Todd is doing a good job looking to the 2nd/3rd receivers. He obviously knows the O. We need a few blocking assignment changes at haltime and the O can take over.
I guess we traded "doghouse Dunn" for "doghouse Slaughter".
If Todd has an arm he'd be mighty, mighty dangerous. He's definitely showing he knows the offense. But supposedly so does Kodi. Like to see him run some uninterrupted drives this half.
Need more Eric Smith and Tristan Davis
