So Franklin forgot that the D can line up more people than you can block?
He wasn't a math major. So what?
Jay, the more I hear Paul Rhodes, the more impressed I get. This guy sounds like a great coach. I look for Texas or some other school to steal him at year's end.
Tony Franklin looks stressed as well he should be. I like him as a person, but it seems more and more like he is in over his skis at Auburn. Auburn simply doesn't have the guys to run this at all and I'm afraid the pressure at the top will be so much that it will never be allowed to take hold. (We all know that pressure on Tuberville gets funneled to the coordinators.)If he lasts two seasons, I'll be surprised and that really is a shame.
Maybe I'm wrong and this whole train starts rocking next week.
Could be the sinus medication.
Peace out and thanks for the work.
Jay,
How come Tony Franklin always looks like he's getting over a three day bender? Does that guy ever takes showers? Its kind of getting embarrassing.
I'd say the keys to fixing the offense are simple:
1. Eliminate turnovers.
2. Quit making stupid penalties.
3. Focus on execution.
We need to work on our red zone offense. I say take a play from Florida's playbook and let Burns get out there with a run/pass option. Just a thought.
Totally agree with your points on our "Red-zone" execution... put pointgs on the board....as a plus we did throw deep as we have been wanting Todd to do.... we just made too many mistakes and penalties...correct them and score the two TD's and two FG while in the red-zone we win 23-2
Franklin isn't big on personal appearance, though I think that's a function of being really into football.
He keeps it real.
Was Lester around for interviews? Is he still "ok" the day after?
Maybe the worst stat of the year so far...
13 trips to the redzone so far, 5 TD's.
What's funny is tony franklin came in playing the "i'm not that smart and i criticize myself all the time" card. Now all that is going to do is throw fuel on the "angry mob's" fire. I think this Tony Franklin thing could still work out he just needs to be less set in his ways and adapt.
Paul Rhoads needs to be equipped with a volume control knob.
The first time I heard CPR speak all I could think was "future head coach."
Lester wasn't around for interviews, though I didn't consider that a surprise. He usually meets with us on Tuesdays.
He's totally fine physically. Sore ... but won't have any long-term problems with that awful flip landing.
i just read this intriguing stat.....
Auburn's 315 total yards against MSU was the lowest output of the season but still better than six of Auburn's 13 games last year.
hard to believe, isn't it?
it seemed like we were able to make a few first downs then get bogged down with penalties to stall the drives. we even ran 71 plays to their 55. i hope on to hope that if we can eliminate these so-called 'mental errors' then things will start to click. me, the eternal optimist. i didn't feel quite so optimistic sat. nite.
on a positive note, i love listening to tray blackmon interviews. his quote about the 4th down stop he made that he basically "i see ball, i hit ball" cracked me up. :) that's good audio/video right there. could that be the HABOTN 'hit of the week'?
my vote for HABOTN hit of the week goes to Hot Carter's sack
forgot about that one RM. that was vicious.
If it weren't for turnovers, penalties, and poor redzone playcalling we could've had 400+ yards and a few touchdowns.
The hardest hit I saw, and I'm considering this for a certain honor, was a lick Wesley Carroll took during the fourth quarter.
I was on the field. I couldn't tell who hit him, but Carroll's head looked like Raggety Andy.
Further review shows that, yes, it was Hot Carter who made Carroll resemble Raggety Andy.
Jay,
I think we need to post a video of that hit "Hot Carter Unleashed"
this needs to be a weekly feature...the Weekly player "Hit of the Week"....Just my 2 cents
That's already in motion.
Getting the video from ESPN to DVD to my hard drive to iMovie to the HABOTN is not efficient. I've been encoding the second half of the MSU game since 9:30 this morning.
I still have 45 minutes to go.
