Ring of Fire REMINDER
Hey everyone. Thanks for tuning in to the WMSP broadcast this morning on remarkably short notice. I was called about 90 seconds before the appearance. It was news to me, too.
Please recall that we will induct three new members into the Ring of Fire, which is the most prestigious designation available to HOTTIES, at 2 p.m. CDT today. It signifies a certain level of insight, tenure and HOTNESS that demands inclusion into the finest subset of our happy community.
I must say, there are several HOTTIES deserving of major recognition. Remember that tenure plays a role, too, so if you're feeling the heat and are fairly new to our little haven here ... don't get discouraged. The Ring of Fire Legends once lacked tenure. Look at them now.
See you this afternoon.

Being new, this is kind of exciting. I am assuming that is 2pm CST. I am EST.
I'll clarify that. Thanks.
Love the choice of a picture Jay. You can't beat Nixon and Elvis.
By the way, 2 CST is 3 EST.
I hope to be here to congratulate all the new ROF members.
Steve - Thanks for the update on the time zones.
congrats all who make 1t 1n to the ROF 1 hope to one day fallow 1n your shoes.
Steve ... breaking news on the new time-zone scheme.
Well done.
So are you posting the full list at once or posting individuals?
I have to leave at 2:05 so just curious if I can catch it...
Thanks for the support Jay. In addition, be aware of daylight savings on Sunday could confuse many.
I'll be posting them individually ... but they should all be out by 2:05.
This is truly a big day. While I hope to make the grade, it's an honor just to be mentioned on the list.
Will there be an initiation or hazing? Did anyone bring the gold fish?
Baaaaaaaaaah.
Whew - Peter is right! It takes forever to catch up on the posts. However, it's fun reading y'all all at once. Ya know...y'all know stuff and you're funny at the same time. I don't remember how I very first found HABOTN, but I'm so happy I did!!
Jay G, I'm curious about something.
Do you have a vote in the polls? Whether you do or don't, does the margin of victory mean anything to you vote/hypothetical vote? If so, how much? If not, why not?
Thanks.
Cool, I will be there to support the RoF hotties!
Best initiation I ever had was I was promoted to Sergeant in the Army: My 1SG and all the NCOs gathered in the dayroom with a couple of cases of beer. About half way through, as everyone was feeling loose, I was called up, with the 1SG spilling the beer:
"Bless the rank" (spills beer on my collar tab
"Bless the duty" (spills beer on my other tab
"Don't let it go to your head" (pours the rest of the beer on my head)
Thanks for your service, Sully.
Okay, so the gold fish and beer are out. I will rely on old faithful and throw rice. I hope you don't mind that it is fried rice.
Kristina - I had the funniest image of your kids being the last waiting to be picked up from school. Looking up at their teacher with big sad eyes and slowly saying, "Mommy forgets us sometimes cuz she's a hottie..."
The best/worst hazing that I have been a part of was after the final football game of my senior year in HS.
A guy who had transfered into our school the year before and was talking that he was getting letters from Bobby Bowden to come to FSU and play and when he finally practiced he was only a part time starter for us, but was just really obnoxious.
After the final game our Sr year, we were in the locker room and he was just in his boxers after getting out of the shower... we all grabbed him and taped him down to a chair with athletic tape and carried him outside where fans an parents were still waiting outside and left him out there as we all went back in and got ready to go.
Finally some parents freed him, but needless to say it wasn't a fun experience for him as Tennessee nights in November can be pretty cold.
At the time it was pretty hilarious for us, but 15 years later it's something that probably would have got us suspended from school. My how times have changed.
Sensi,
You getting to technical....
this is the way it goes
Jay G. = HOTTIES, and HOTTIES = BANHAMMER, therefore Jay G. = BANHAMMER
Remember if a=b and b=c then a=c
ok enough, my head hurts.....
Monica,
I almost spit up my diet coke when i read the comment on kristina...
Now that was funny, cuz i can picture the Teacher laughing her head off and the kids being really serious and not really getting the joke!!!
AUNMobile! That's exactly how I saw it. You so get me! HAHAHA
Oh Monica! You crack me up girl...
They can wait a little while ;-)
I have to get my hottie fix this afternoon since lord knows I'll be too busy tonight dealing with my kids jacked up on sugar.
Are other towns trick or treating tonight or just Auburn?
Amos gave us a job on the roundtable. He wants the HABOTN top 10 NCAA football coaches l1st.
Hmmm, I am thinking the ceremony should also include awards for Auburn coaches and players. I would like to nominate Tony Franklin for best imitation of an offensive coordinator in a non-supporting roll.
Tonight is Trick or Treat here in Huntington, WV too. I love hanging out with our neighbors and seeing all the kids.
best part: feeding sugar to other peoples kids and sending the home
worst part: WVU alumni neighbor named John...
biscuit - did he want the 10 ten list or did he just want to know if we thought CTT in the top 10
Biscuit, are these current coaches or a list of possible replacements for those being fired?
Is there an award for best post involving a Jan Terri reference? Because I have a pretty good shot at that one.
my l1st would go:
1)Pete Carroll
2)J1m Tressel
3)Bob Stoops
4)Urban Meyer
5)Mack Brown
6)Gary P1nkle
7)N1ck Saban
8)Tommy Tuberv1lle
9)J1m Beamer
10) Butch Dav1s
he wanted a top 10 of act1ve coaches
As for replacement coaches, I think that would be cool but you aren't allowed to vote for Muschamp or Davis. That has been over done. Now, you can vote for Malzahn. He gets my vote for our new OC. He gets the edge over other competition because of a drive Nut nutts factor.
Biscuit, I essentially like your list. Maybe rearrange a few. I will have to do some research and get back...

Just watched my first Jan Terri video. Michael, that's some pretty solid stuff there. :)
biscuit, you said the "S" word. There should be some kind of punishment for that, like listening to re-runs of the Franklin interview on Mindbomb or something.
ed1t***Satan***
I had to stop watch Jan Terri videos. I was getting way too excited.
Job well done to the three new ROF members. I look forward to one day joining your hotness!! wde
1. Pete Carroll
2. Bob Stoops
3. Jim Tressell
4. Mack Brown
5. Nick Saban
6. Les Miles
7. Paul Johnson
8. Urban Meyer
9. Frank Beamer
10. Jerry Moore (App State)
Honorable mention Pat Hill at Fresno State.
Gots me a theme song for Franklin now too. Elton John, Levon.
WarEagleRK, you misspelled Satan too.
grammar pol1ce!
Steve, now you have given me a second song to get stuck in my head.
What's the deal w/the Bammers on the roundtable worr1ed about Muschamp?
biscuit, When your team is 8-0 there's nothing more fun (for some folks) than to wallow in the misery of your in-state rival.
Sorry Just Win AU, I just have my jammies going on today.
I don't understand how Muschamp is getting all of this major head coaching talk.
I could see after a couple of years at a lower level school to judge how his overall staff managing, recruiting and organization skills are as a head coach. If he is successful doing that, I can see why people would be talking about him for a AU, UT or Clemson job, but right now I'd say it's waaaaaaaay too early for that level of a job.
I am against Muschamp. I would be happier if we just promoted CPR to head coach, and I don't think that would be a good move either.
Let's let a l1ttle s1ster take the r1sk on Muschamp and then make the move.
I guess we should someday talk about the characteristics we would like to see in a head coach. I am a Shug man and find Tuberville as close as we have gotten to shug. Dye was a bit more intense.
I want the coach that is convinced there is no way we can beat our next opponent no matter who we are playing. Tuberville has been a bit too optomistic this season for me.
bama lady needs to smoke another pack of cigs and STHU
Monica, please advise her to spit our the chew before smoking. She could get overloaded.
I'd take Shug's class with Tub's ability to keep the program clean & Dye's intensity and attitude.
I would like to field Dye's teams with Tub's character of player recuriting.
And if this can't be cloned...then I'd take a coach who can keep the NCAA away and win with class and dignity and add some freakin trophies to the trophy case...and I'm not just talking about the Alabama game and a mid level bowl.
No worries Steve. Just giving you a hard time...
10 mins to go.
Keeping the program clean and graduating players has to be the top two goals.
After that, winning games. Trophies will come.
RK, you getting ready for your big moment?
Blinded By The Light by Manfred Mann seems to have a lot of potential for lyric replacement.
I'm with Doug on this. I disagree with all the hesitance to hire an asst. coach. Everyone was an asst. at one time and there are examples to prove the "let someone else take a chance on him" philosophy wrong. See Sneaky Pete.
I will work on it, SteveFC.
Commander, I can only hope I'm one of the chosen few. If not, then my hats off to whoever it is.
Blinded by the Light was originally a Springsteen song. It was covered by Manfred Mann.
I just don't see any characteristic in Muschamp that make me think head coaching material. He doesn't seem to have the personality for it.
Commander,
You can get the original lyrics on Springsteen's webpage.
we're all atingle with anticipation
Almost time.
We'll be doing a campfire after the announcements.
WarEagleRK, that is very interesting because I don't think I have heard the Springsteen version. I am going to look for it.
Yeah, it's the only # 1 pop hit of Springsteen's career, and it's only as a songwriter and not the performer.
It's on his 1st album, "Greetings from Asbury Park, NY."
NJ of course, not NY.
If you can find a clip on youtube or something of Springsteen's VH1 Storytellers, he gives a pretty funny story of the change in on lyric that Manfred Mann made. The Springsteen version had "reved up like a Deuce" where the Mann version had "wrapped up like a ..." It's a pretty hilarious story.
I'm out of the office right now but I wanted to say a quick congratulations to the new ROF members.
Well done gentlemen! Well done.
I'll leave a little something for each post wise when I get home this evening!
