Giving credit where it's due
I was due to write vignettes from various polling stations this morning. That would have affected my ability to provide coverage from Auburn today, which would have made your day less enjoyable.
I know. I shudder at the thought of leaving you all hanging.

I don't expect much of anything to come from the presser today.
Are there any names you've heard about for new OC? Or is that not of concern right now?
Well, if it would help I can just give you some comments that are typical of a press conference and save you a trip.
This team doesn't know when to quit, I mean doesn't quit.
We had our best practice of the year.
We simplified the playbook.
We are getting better.
Just let me know if you need anything further.
How about some Tubs statements about how committed he is to Auburn, etc.?

mr. sensible , i was wondering same thing about OC candidates. The lack of media attention about new OC might be telling.
I'm not sure a new OC can cure the ills of this team. Tubs needs to find someone he can work with and then lay down the law with the 2 Live BBQ Crew and tell them to work with the new guy or else.
All the offensive asst' coaches should take a pay cut to help offset the cost of paying Borges and Franklin. It's only fair.
The silence on the OC front may mean they have someone picke dout and have already contacted their agent. That waythe new guy can say, 'I have not been in contact with anyone at Auburn about a job.' Sound familiar.
Anybody hear about Tony Barnhart on Tim Brando's show saying that Tubs to Clemson is in the works? He said it could happen before the Iron Bowl. Don't know if it was actually said or not.
The only way that a new OC is already picked out is if Tubs has been told he would be retained. If that was the case, I believe everyone would know that right now. I do not believe that Tubs would risk jepordizing some other coaches current position till he knew for fact he was retained.
Tim- I believe that statement was made in jest, and I believe Tim Brando was the one making the jest. That does not appear to be a serious possibility.
My campaign for George O'Leary in 2009 hasn't changed since yesterday. I hope the B.o.Ts see my posts and discuss him on Friday.

Peter- O'leary may be needing a job after this year. He is quietly creeping up the Hotseat list at 2-6.
I'm just here to check and make sure Jay doesn't foil my plans like he did in 2003.

Dennis Green for AU OC. Tubs can let him do EVERY post-game press conference. I really have no clue what position he actually coaches and really don't care. My vote is for D.Green this hallowed election day!
Wootang- I will just say that I know how things work at Auburn because I was there in 1998 to witness it first hand. The BOT's are creatures of habit if you ask me.
the words I'm hearing out of UCF is that he has at least another year. ...unless Auburn gets to him first!
While I don't know this to be fact (nor do I care to check it), the excuses I've heard are that the team is very young because they lost a lot of seniors last year.
Peter- I'm not sure how many SR's they lost last year, but they lost a great TB in Kevin Smith.
If I am not mistaken, Dennis Green was an offensive coach under Bill Walsh.
So not a bad idea.

Eddie-You are right about the BOT being creatures of habit. They cna never get over themselves. Maybe that is why I don't have a lot of money to throw around, I might think I was somebody and felt the desire to wreck a football program just to prove to my drinking buddy I can do it.

RK you are correct about Green. In addition, just to add, Brian Billick of Coors Light fame was the OC for Green in MN before coming to Baltimore.

I personally believe the longer nothing gets announced, the more likely he is gone. Did they announce a vote of confidence in 1998 or 2003? History seems to repeat itself.

If Tubs goes it obviously depends on the hire...say what you will, but Lowder has done a good job in his last three selections.
If Tubs stays, he will need to go back to what he know best and I dont even know if he knows what that is anymore....the last 12 months have just been so surreal...so not that good.
