How slow has this gotten?

Hey everyone. It's one day before the BIG homecoming game and I'm feeling a bit underwhelmed. You know the feeling. It's like when Ben Tate takes a hand-off out of the shotgun formation and starts that arduous journey beyond the tackle.

Play builds slowly, create little suspense. Kinda like this week.

Will Auburn beat UT-Martin? I think so. The Tigers are so much bigger along the line. Surely that will be enough to let guys like Tate and Brad Lester get into the defensive backfield more than occasionally.

I predict a 24-10 Auburn win. That would be a scoring bonanza.

Who will play? Lots of people you don't know all that well: Spencer Pybus, Dee Hood, Drew Cole, Eric Smith ... maybe even Adam Herring.

That's about all I have for you.

ON-CAMPUS SCHEDULE FOR SATURDAY:
  • 9:30 a.m. - Tiger Team Village open

  • 11:30 a.m. - Tiger Walk

  • 11:30 a.m. - Public gates open

  • 12:10 p.m. - Spirit March

  • 1:05 p.m. - Pre-Game begins

  • 1:10 p.m. - Eagle Flight

  • 1:30 p.m. - Auburn vs. UT Martin

ONE OTHER THING: Live blog or comment-based quarterly posts? Which would you rather use tomorrow?

Don't forget the Gridiron Breakdown this morning gang. It starts at 9:30 a.m CST.

I'll be flying mostly solo this week but we have a cavalcade of great guests.

If I'm at home I'll be there, Mr. S!

Nope. Not headed to Baton Rouge. I want to live to see next week. Finally got into my email...

I'm gonna catch the Saban interview on SportsCenter in a few minutes. They're already Gamedaying. Drinking at 8:30 in the morning. Harsh.

Faker - you chicken.

8:22 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Has the interview already happened? I was watching cartoons and cooking breakfast.

I went to Baton Rouge in 1991, 1992, 1994, & 1996. That was enough for me!

Gameday was there in 1996 for the night game. We got there at 9AM. The party was in full swing. Fortunately we beat the crap out of them and few LSU fan's stayed for the whole game.

8:28 AM
Blogger Monica said...

No the interview hasn't happened it.
I was in Baton Rouge in 1993 I think and it was w-i-l-d.

By the way, BIG announcement concerning this show today at 10:20-10:30.

Stay tuned and thanks for the support.

I'm not a chicken at all...

Ironically the worst fan behavior I have ever been around was in Oxford in 1993. David Palmer beat Ole Miss with the best performance I have ever seen. He played Quarterback (Barker got hurt), Receiver, Punt Returner, just about everything.

The Ole Miss fans were LIVID. They threw whiskey bottles at the Bama team and fans. It was F-U-N....

Just saw the Saban segment. Seemed like it was a teaser for the GameDay show.

Herbstreit said on Finebaum this week that he would need an escort out of Baton Rouge after he makes his picks this weekend, so I presume he is gonna pick Bama big. I agree. I think we win by double digits.

8:46 AM
Blogger Monica said...

Wait - When do you think the Saban interview is? I was away from my TV.

Yep, I heard Kirk say that too. Then he winked at me.

8:48 AM
Blogger Monica said...

Now I have to change my plans to be here to hear the big Gridiron Breakdown announcement! wooo hooo

8:50 AM
Blogger FSJ said...

Are you sure that you are not imagining that Kirk winked at you? I ask this because every woman I know thinks the same thing.

They will probably wait until later in GameDay to play the entire Saban interview.

I've already seen a hilarious GameDay sign...

So true...CBS has a commercial every two minutes. That's why the CBS games take four hours.

Well, he winked AND pointed AND mouthed, "This is for YOU, Monica." So, yeah, I feel sure it was me!

I like the "et tu, Saban?" sign. Although, I don't understand why they get their knickers all in a twist over Saban.

Jay,

How did you enjoy the Ball last night. I saw you there shaking your groove thing...

LOL! Someone on a message board I read posted that
burning a coach on a haystack has a certain third world country quality to it....

I should be there for Kirk. He's going to need some protection.

Jilted. Sounds about right, Faker.

9:09 AM
Blogger Monica said...

That's exactly it! It is very 3rd world. It's one of those moves that bumps SEC intensity (which I love and am proud of) to SEC nutburgers (not so much)

Mr. S. that link does work.

I can't believe gridiron breakdown's page refers to Auburn/UT-Martin as a big game. Ironically enough, it feels like a big game. This is our 3rd must win game in a row and we lost the last two.

Auburn completely falling off the table? Well, I guess that is fair.

Tommy not feeling well and not having the intensity?

Sounds like it is Doug Amos, although I don't know who Doug Amos is.

Nevermind. I figured it out. Must be Doug Amos.

Jay,

Sorry, I didn't introduce myself. I really wanted to talk with you. But the way that I felt about it you were out with wifey and not at "work" I saw that people kept coming up to you and talking and I figured that gets annoying from time to time. I just wanted to let you have fun!

Why don't the girlies know me?

Steve - I don't think the game is on anywhere.

Drunk LSU architect? Safe bet.

Does anyone know who is talking with Mr S right now?

Alabama/LSU is a tough game for me because LSU is the easiest team in the SEC to dislike. Their alcohol powered fan base has a lot to do with that.

I made several comments about Rock Band last night.

If I ever was in command of an event like that, you'd better believe we'd have at least two Rock Band/GH stations. People in that environment would dig that stuff. Seriously dig it.
